During the few blissful months that Zander and Braelynn shared, Zander decided it would be fun to go ice skating on the black lake. He had ice skated before, though he wasn't very skilled at it and generally avoided the sport. It was much easier to control ones movements when airborne rather that having to rely and the ice below you to give you support. Still, he thought it would be a good idea.
So, he found some ice skates and told Bay to meet him out by the black lake. Zander was all warm and fuzzy inside at the thought of seeing her all bundled up and cute, stumbling over the ice. He looked up at the time they were supposed to meet, glancing to see if the beautiful lady had arrived...

Zander had told her to meet him out by the Black Lake. He hadn't said why, just that she should dress warmly. What was he up to? And why did she feel so giddy? She'd tried to study to pass the time until they were supposed to meet, but she couldn't. Zander always had that affect on her though. She couldn't focus on anything else if he was on her mind. Just like how he stole her breath away, he also stole her very thoughts.
Bundled up in a warm coat, scarf, gloves and boots, she made her way out of the school. Shockingly she was wearing jeans, something most people thought she didn't own. She was always wearing dresses or skirts. But she wanted to be warm out there, so for once she'd rather be comfortable then fashionable. The snow crunched under her feet as she walked, and she could distinctly see another set of foot prints heading the same way she was heading. Zander was already there. She walked faster. Soon he was in sight, and a bright smile spread across her lips.
"You weren't waiting long, were you?" She asked as she got closer. Finally at his side, she leaned forward to softly kiss him on the cheek. Her own cheeks turned a soft pink.

And suddenly all was right in the world. There she was, all bundled up an almost unrecognizable as she met him out by the lake. As she kissed his cheek he hoped she didn't notice the burning warmth that came from them. He also hoped she would think the red on his own cheeks was simply because of the cold. Eh, actually, most of him didn't care if she knew he was blushing. She was already well aware of her affect on him, so what was the big deal if he was blushing about a kiss? "No, no. I was just hoping you didn't get lost or fall in a pile of snow and disappear. I would have gone after you, I swear!" he promised, reaching out his gloved hands to take hers. "Okay, so, now we gotta put these skates on and then we're all set," he explained, leading her over to a rock to sit on while they put on the shoes. Once they had the skates, Zander very, very slowly stood up. "Okay, so...ladies first?" he offered. @braelynn

Ice skating.
Bay realized the moment she saw the skates behind him what he’d planned. It brought a genuine smile to Braelynn’s lips. ”If the snow was deep enough for me to disappear in, you wouldn’t be too much help.” She commented, both eyebrows raised a little. They were both average height for their gender, but he was still taller than her. That smile softened as he took her hand, the girl following as he lead them to the skates.
She hadn’t gone ice skating in years. Not since they left France. She’d never been amazing at it, but it’d been fun. It also helped that whatever the activity, she just loved to spend time with Zander. Skates on, he offered for her to go first. ”You sound a little nervous.” She innocently mentioned as she cautiously took a step onto the ice. It wasn’t the smoothest of surfaces, and she almost lost her balance once both skates were on the ice. Taking a few, even more cautious, glides, she finally looked back at him. She was smiling. Brightly. ”Are you coming?”

"Ooh, this is true," Zander loved that they weren't too far apart in height, but he also loved that he was a bit taller than her. It made him feel a bit more manly around her because she was such a good fighter and so smart that he had to have something on her, right? And if being taller was that thing well... so be it. She called him out on his nervousness and he tried to casually shrug his shoulders. "Awe, nah. I just don't know if I'm capable of being as graceful as you," he said as she took a slow step onto the ice. As she shifted a little trying to gain her balance he watched with wide eyes. "Are you coming?" Awe, that smile. There was no way he couldn't go now. He took one single step and fell flat on his face. @braelynn

”I’m not graceful on ice.” Braelynn admitted as she wobbled a little. ”You’ll be fine.” She smiled reassuringly as she held out a hand for him, to try and convince him to brave that first step.
And he did. But it also happened to be the last step he took. Bay almost jumped as he fell, her surprise almost throwing her off balance. She barely managed to stay standing. But then… she started to laugh. And laugh… and laugh….
Bay didn’t laugh often. It was a fact of life. And heaven forbid you managed to make her laugh hysterically. Her fit of laughter was poorly timed though, because as she tried to cover the laughter, to hide it like manners dictated, she felt she takes come right out from under her. Yelping, she slipped right back onto her but. But she didn’t stop laughing. Instead, she was laughing so hard she was literally silent, her whole body shaking.
Good heavens, why couldn’t she stop laughing?

It seemed as though he had broken her. She was laughing, and then falling, and then laughing again. He looked up from the ice to watch her, his stomach fluttering at the sound. He hadn't heard her laugh that hard ever. Then the sound stopped coming out of her and she was still shaking with laughter. He felt his own laughter start to build as he moved onto his hands on knees, crawling over to her on the ice. He wasn't laughing due to the fact that he was so entranced by the fact that she was. Not that it was a strange thing to laugh about, no, but he had never seen her like this. At least not to this extent. "I didn't know my pain would be so hilarious," he chuckled, reaching out his gloved hand to offer it to her. "Let's stand together once you're... erh.... capable." He smiled. He chuckled as he waited for her to take his hand and watched her struggle with the laughter. @braelynn

@zander ((It's not ice skating, but it's close enough!))
This was NOT lady like in the least! This hysterical laughing, to the point where she couldn't even breath. Braelynn's parents would have reprimanded her so quickly if they'd witnessed this behavior. But there was Zander, looking far to amused by the whole situation as he crawled over the ice to her side. He'd given up on skating apparently. It took minutes for the girl to finally calm down, having taken his hand when it was offered but not attempting to stand.
Finally, only a giant smile remained, her stomach hurting from laughing so much. She didn't care though as she beamed at Zander. "Oh goodness... It's really not that funny, I'm sorry!" And yet, she almost started laughing again just thinking about it. What on earth was wrong with her? "Are.... are you okay?" Bay almost cracked up then too, but managed to keep it to a small giggle.
"Okay, okay. I'm ready." She took a deep breath, as if to ensure no more giggles escaped. Slowly, with his assistance, they rose to their feet. Braelynn didn't let go of his hand immediately though, instead waiting to see if he'd face plant it again...

Zander waited, a giant smile on his own face as she finally stopped laughing. He reached forward with his other hand to play with her scarf, scooting a little closer. "I'm fine, hey, I'm fine." He pursed his own lips, now trying not to laugh as well, as he brought his face closer to hers. "You suuure you're ready?" he inquired, leaning closer and closer until their noses were almost touching.
Then they pulled together in order to try standing again. They managed to and he clasped her shoulder with one hand and held her hand with the other. "Okay, we can do this! Team work!" still he didn't move. He wasn't sure how to proceed. "Erh... what next, coach?"

Braelynn heart fluttered at Zander’s touch, as it always did. Whenever he was around, he just made everything right in the word, as strange as that sounded. He made her want to be bold and confident. Not the spineless follower she felt like she was. She nodded when he asked if she was ready, still smiling as he leaned in closer, his breath warming her cheeks. ”I’m sure.” She repeated before he pulled away. On their feet, she felt oddly nervous to let go of his hand. Part of her convinced he’d fall again, and the other part thinking she’d fall. Either way, maybe holding his hand a little longer would be a good idea. Still smiling, she raised her other hand to lightly touch his cheek. ”Now, we skate.” She stated, letting that hand drop to her side but still clasping his hand with the other. ”Push with your feet. It’s easier when you’re moving.” She squeezed his hand a little, a silent remind that she was there, and wasn’t going to let him fall.

So, they were holding hands no as she explained how to do it and squeezed his hand. He turned to her with a nervous smile and nodded once before attempting to go forward. He was doing all right for about three or so steps before he felt himself wobble. He stopped, practically crushing her hand with his own for support. "Maybe this was a bad idea. Yeah, this was a bad idea. We should go back. Have you ever done this before? I don't know if I can do this. I mean, I'll just go back to the rock and watch you-" he stopped himself from his babbling and his cheeks reddened. "Okay, I trust you," he deducted, trying to move forward again. "Don't let go," he muttered. @braelynn (DONT LET GO D: -ugly sobs- I don't know what's wrong with me -dies-)

Braelynn gave Zander's hand a reassuring squeeze as they skated a few feet. But then he seemed to lose the small amount of confidence he'd just built and started to wobble. She reached out with her other hand, grabbing his arm to try and steady him. All the while smiling brightly. She couldn't help but find the whole situation adorable. Especially when he started trying to talk himself out of it, that got a small laugh out of her. "You're doing great, Zander." She reassured. "The more you think about it, the harder it is." His moment of weakness lasted only a moment and she smiled, letting go of his arm but not his hand as he moved forward. She kept pace with him. "Try going a little faster. You'll find your balance, just trust yourself." she suggested.
Don't let go
Braelynn's heart skipped a beat, and she looked up at him with slightly wider eyes. He had only meant to not let go in this moment. But she couldn't help but think about far beyond. When everything came to light. About who she was, and her sister. About the attacks. He'd find out everything. She didn't know what he'd think, but she knew one thing. She'd make sure he was safe. He might someday let go of her, but she wouldn't let go of him. "I won't." She promised.

He was so focused on the skates that he hadn't noticed her slight mood change at his plea. He was picking up speed, just like she suggested. He finally smiled at her as he started to gain his balance, "I think I'm getting the ha-" nope. He released her hands as to make sure that she didn't fall with him as he flew forward, maybe four feet or so, before sliding on the ice, his face making contact. He groaned once before rolling over onto his back and looking up at her with a wicked grin, "totally did that on purpose. You know, so you could rescue me," she chuckled, trying to move to standing-which only caused him to fall back on the ice again. He groaned another time and laid flat, giving up and looking toward the sky. "Just leave meeeeeeee," he whined, letting his arms fall to his sides as he lay on the ice. Still, he was smiling.

Without warning, Zander released her hand. He'd been doing well, and they'd managed to skate a ways. And then he was falling. She audibly gasped as he hit the ice. "Zander!" The fall had been quite dramatic and flamboyant, and she would bet anything that it hurt, despite that grin he was flashing her. None the less, Braelynn found herself laughing. Thankfully not nearly as hard as before, but more so then usual. At least he'd tried! She'd give him that. "You did? Well then, I should probably help then!"
Skating to his side, she skidded to a stop, then down onto her knees next to him. He seemed to have given up on getting up at this point, so she just sat there, bracing a hand on the ice opposite him so she was leaning over him. Those brown eyes of hers peered curiously down at him as a sweet smile tugged at her lips. "You aren't going to give up so easily, are you?" She realized how close they were then. Close enough that if she leaned down just a bit more she could quite easily kiss him....

Good. She was laughing again. Mission accomplished. Then she skated over and skidded to a stop like it was the easiest thing in the world. Pssh, whatever. She was so graceful and he was so... not. He always had thought he was at least fairly balanced. He played Quidditch after all but... alas... he couldn't do this. Then she was leaning over him, her brown hair falling near his face and he felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest and smack her right in the face. She smiled, those brown eyes on his, and then her lips were moving and he was pretty sure she was saying words but he wasn't even paying attention. He was too busy reaching a hand up behind her head and then leaning up to kiss her. They had kissed before, sure, but this time he pulled her even closer and kissed her longer. After a moment, he pulled back and smiled up at her. "How can I give up when my rescuer is as beautiful as you are? Granted, no one is as beautiful as you are. So , I guess you're the only one who can rescue me."@braelynn (foreshadowing is fun XD)
