@lestrange The afternoon was warm with a pleasant breeze that sailed through the greenhouse windows, rustling plants as it made it's way out the door. It was so inviting, that when Phil and Andy were in need of some dogwood tree samples, they didn't mind leaving the greenhouse for the woods by the lake. As it was, they couple had found all the samples they needed hours ago, and were currently occupied with counting the lights on the castle. The afternoon had been perfect, spent talking, splashing in the lake, and looking at the clouds. Neither of them felt any need to rush the project they were on. When Phil got to the 48th light being turned on in the castle he realized that it was very dark outside. All students were supposed to be in by sundown, and it was now past sundown, by at least an hour. He sat up and looked over at Andy, a guilty smile on his face. "I am pretty sure we were supposed to go in like an hour ago." he said. He didn't regret staying out, he didn't regret spending any time with Andy. But curfew wasn't something to really mess around with anymore, it was there for a very good reason. He stood up and grabbed their samples and reached down to help Andy up. The wind turned chill and Phil shivered and all the memories of what had so recently happened at Hogwarts flooded into him. "Maybe we should hurry inside."

May had finally arrived, the last month of school. It had been over a month since the kidnappings and Andy still hadn't told Phil where she was keeping Bay, or that she was even keeping the girl hidden at all. She pushed all thoughts of that aside, however, as they spent an afternoon together in the sunlight. Andy always thought it was a shame that they didn't get to enjoy summers at the castle, but she understood why there was a summer vacation- of course. Andy didn't even realize what time it was, and it seemed neither did Phil. They were lost in their little game, in the water and the sky and the grass. It was almost as if the rest of the world didn't exist, which was a nice feeling. Then he spoke and she blinked at him before looking up at the sky. "Oh, you're right!" she said, allowing him to take her hand and pull her to standing. As the wind blew past Andy stepped closer to him, but her smile didn't fade. "Yeah... the school seems really far from here... it's kind of daunting, actually," as she glanced around her eyes caught sight of the greenhouses, not far from them. "Maybe we should go to the Greenhouses and see if da- your dad is there? He could walk us up?"@philiplongbottom

@lestrange A chill wind ripped through the branches bringing with it the beginnings of a spring rainstorm. The weather was turning from a wonderful evening into one that was going to need some jackets, the wind didn't let up, but turned from swaying the grasses to ripping them around. Phil grabbed Andy's hand, a small smile on his lips. "Yeah, greenhouse is a good idea." he said, confirming her idea. He started walking quickly toward the greenhouses. It was only a few hundred paces, though that was much closer than the school, it felt like a thousand as the wind picked up and the rainstorm started in earnest. The small dropplets were ripped from the clouds and shot at the ground and when it hit Phil's skin it felt like stingers. He picked up the pace and got to the greenhouse just as the wind picked up in earnest. When he opened the greenhouse door it ripped the door free from his hands. Letting go of Andy's hand he wrenched the door closed behind them. "Maybe we should just stay here for a while." he commented in a casual tone, half a smile coming ot his face.

Not that Andy didn't think a spring shower wasn't great for the trees and all, but it had ruined a perfectly nice day. Well, not ruined, per say, but it had caused the day to take an interesting turn. Andy helped as the wind picked up, running up ahead of Phil in order to slip in the door before he yanked it closed. It seemed for a moment that the door would overpower him, but he managed. He turned to face her, a familiar half grin adorning his face as he suggested they stay where they were. Andy nodded, "yeah, we're not going back out there until this dies down," she folded her arms, grateful to have her robes on. "Is this... Greenhouse two?" she guessed, looking at the plants around them. Then she nodded, turning back to Phil. "Guess we'll see if he's in here," she suggested, reaching toward to clasp Phils hand and pull him into the greenery. "Professor?" she called, though she was sure he would have revealed himself at the sound of the door opening of he was around. @philiplongbottom

@lestrange That wind was crazy, and it had almost come out of nowhere! Phil was glad they had made it to the greenhouse, they might have been blown away if they had stayed out there any longer. Andy called out to his dad, but called him professor. There was no answer. Phil thought about Andy's words she had used, she didn't call Neville dad. Well she did, but she changed to his dad. And professor? He was just as much her dad as he was his. He might mention it to her, but not right now. "I don't think that he is in here. Besides, all his cool plants are in greenhouse 7, so that is where he would be if he was out here. " Phil didn't stop walking through the greenhouse, his fingers interlaced with Andy's. They could still check it out. Plus, if they were going to spend a while here, Phil wanted to make sure he remembered what plants were in here. He didn't want to be strangled in his sleep. "Looks like it is just you and me." the comment came before he even considered how it might sound. Once it was out he stumbled to recover. " I mean no one else in here so we are alone-- I mean we're just... nevermind. " he gave up with a laugh and a grin, though now he was hyperaware of their hands.

He had a point, Neville would mostly likely be in the other greenhouse. She stopped searching as he said it was just the two of them. She spun around to face him as he stuttered through trying to make it sound less awkward. She couldn't help but smile and chuckle, pulling her hand out of his as she did so. "Guess so. May as well pass the time with some plant studying?" she suggested, turning to face the plant nearest her. She had learned by now not to get close to a plant unless it was very clear if it was safe or not. She coked her head to one side. "What is it?" she asked him, waving him toward her. As he reached her, her body shivered slightly. She couldn't tell if it was due to proximity or if it was because of the cold outside. She chalked it up to being due to the cold. She turned to face him, smiling a little again. "I don't think any of the man eating ones are in here, right? That one's usually locked," she said. @philiplongbottom

@lestrange Andy pulled her hand from his and his hand felt cold. He wanted to pull her hand back and just hold onto it forever. But he didn't. Space, that was what she needed. Space and trust. Even if he wanted to act differently, he wasn't going to, because he would rather go at Andy's pace then lose her again. His thoughts were distracted by her talk of man-eating plants. Taking the step to close the distance between them so he could look at the plant better, he noticed she shook. "This one is fine. The one behind it spits acid if it is poked, so let's just not poke it. Are you cold?" he switched topics abruptly and instinctively hugged to her help her get warm. After a moment he pulled away for just a moment. 'Sorry." #notsorry he said quickly but didn't release his arms from around her.

He declared that the plant was safe and to avoid the other one but then didn’t skip a bit in asking if she was cold and wrapping his arms around her. She flattened her hands against his chest as he pulled her close to him and instantly felt warmer. Because of the body heat, obviously. She was silent as he held her until pulled back and apologized, but didn't release her. "No, it's okay," she said, her eyes flickering up through her lashes to meet his. "It's nice. Being close to you," she admitted. She found herself wanting to laugh for some strange reason, but attempted to hold it down by just smiling instead. She shook her head, "I mean, it's kind of cold, too," she said, her attempt at a bit of a joke. @philiplongbottom

@lestrange It was chilly in the greenhouse, but not to bad, the temperature had to be kept warm for the plants. Hence the need for a greenhouse. That didn't mean that Phil let go of Andy. As he hugged her he blushed at her comment. "Cold with a benefit of best friend." he teased lightly, almost hesitantly. His eyes landed on an innocent little tuber on the ground. It looked like the one Irina had been fooling with earlier. And suddenly he stiffened. He still hadn't told Andy about Brazil. How was he going to tell her? She needed to know, he wanted her to know. And he wanted to be the one to tell her. How would she react, how would it affect their friendship that was just barely coming back together? He wasn't sure what would happen. "A best friend who has some news." he added after a few moments of frantic contemplation. He pulled away from Andy, and wrung his hands together. He met her eyes for a moment. "It is good news, so don't worry about that, but it is only mostly good. There could be some bad, potentially. No, not potentially, the bad part would be that I couldn't see you all the time. But I could still write you! Every day, or week, or whatever. Maybe we could use the mirror things my dad has. He might even have some sort of plant that can project faces, he might be working on that. So it wouldn't be all bad, just a little bit. And only for four months, it would be over by Christmas." He would have kept rambling except he was starting to feel the fool. And he hadn't even said what he meant to say.

She chuckled as he spoke of the benefit of having a best friend in the cold until suddenly his body tensed up and she suddenly was filled with worry, ”what’s wro-” she started to say before he was barrelling into a lot of confusing sentences all at once. News? Of course she worried, even when he said not to. Some bad? Her eyes widened at that and then more so when he said he couldn’t see her. He wasn’t making any sense. The mirrors? Yeah, of course, they all got them for Christmas… plant faces, what? He was just sounding more crazy by the second…
”Only for four months, it would be over by Christmas,” her gaze softened at that but her lip slightly quivered as she came to the realization. ”You’re… you’re going away? You’re leaving?” he voice was soft at first as that familiar sense of betrayal then she took in a deep breath. He wasn’t betraying her. Phil wouldn’t do that. She closed her eyes for a split second before looking back at him, ”where are you going?” she slipped both of her hands into his at this, though she took a step back.

Phil watched the play of emotions on her face and fought the urge to say "Just kidding! April Fools! I am not going anywhere!" He was half tempted to call off the whole trip. But he couldn't. Not only because he had dreamed of something like this for years, but because what kind of precedent would that set for the rest of their relationship, the rest of their lives? Anytime one of them was uncomfortable the other would give up all their hopes and dreams? That wouldn't work.
"Brazil. To Castelobruxo on an exchange program. September to December. I-- I got accepted last week." He held to her hands tightly, searching her eyes. Her step back sent a bout of panic through him. He wanted her to support him. Until this moment he didn't realize how much he wanted... needed her support. This exchange program was going to be totally different than anything he had ever done in his life. He would be leaving his family, friends, school, country, and going to someplace that was so completely different in every way. There had to be someone who could keep his primal fear of the new and unexpected at bay, because he couldn't do it on his own.
Opening his mouth, he meant to say something else, clarify something, explain it. But Andy just needed to think about it. So he waited, holding her hands like a lifeline.

As he explained where he was going she felt an immediate surge of relief. He wasn't leaving because of her or because of anyone else for that matter. He was doing something for himself, something that actually sounded really amazing. She found herself slowly starting to nervously chuckle. She shook her head, looking down at their hands for a split second before looking back up at him. "That's great news, isn't it?" she said, though her mixed emotions of missing him and being happy for him were clear on her face. "I mean, you should be happy about this. Don't worry about me, Phil. Not because of this," she took her step closer to him again so she was where she had originally been standing.
"Why didn't you tell me last week? I would have... thrown you a party or something," she was joking, of course, sort of due to trying to ease the tension. She chewed on her lips and slowly released his hands in order to suddenly throw her arms around his neck and pull him into a hug. "I'll miss you, though. I'll miss you," she muttered, pulling him tightly to her.

@lestrange The relief on her face mirrored the relief in his heart. She wasn't mad, she wasn't going to pull away. 'Yeah, it is really good news. They don't take very many people, and I got my application in almost late and there was a ton of stuff to do and... yeah it's good news." He squeezed her hands tighter, thankful that she had stepped back up to him. "Last week? I was--" He started to explain to her, but was cut off when her arms were thrown around his neck. "I'll miss you." she whispered. He wrapped his arms around her waist and settled into the hug. For a moment he didn't say anything, they just stood there hugging. Then he pulled back just a little and used his finger to guide her chin so that she could look at him. "I'll miss you, too." he whispered. That was the truth. She was more to him than just a friend, but he felt like she was even more than that, he didn't even know everything she was to him. His eyes darted down to her lips, then back up to her eyes. Then he moved in before he could second guess himself. He pressed his lips to hers, gently, and didn't pull away. (PhilAndy... I can't handle... *dies*)

She nodded as he agreed that it was good news, trying to give him the best smile she could muster, but her eyes always told the truth. He seemed as though he was going to actually explain before she hugged him, but the explanation could wait. His arms were as warm and welcoming as always and his words, I’ll miss you, too, caused her body to relax toward his, a warm feeling rushing through her stomach.
Then he was looking at her lips and she parted her mouth slightly as if she was going to speak before he was leaning toward her. She swallowed nervously before leaning toward him as well closing that tiny gap as his lips touched hers.
Immediately a familiar jolt of electricity went through her body, starting from the kiss. They had only kissed during Christmas break before, under that mistletoe, meaning it had been months. She had hurt him so much in that time, dating Albus, and became friends with Phil again. For a teenager, that felt like a lifetime. She kissed him back, of course, her arms and hands pulling him tightly to her as they kissed. She breathed in deeply through her nose, not wanting to break away from his lips for even a second. But that could only last so long.
She gasped as she pulled away, opening her eyes wide as she did. ”Phil…” suddenly she felt the overwhelming desire to cry, again. She bit her lip to keep it from quivering as her eyes brimmed with tears. She slid her hands off his back, past his shoulders until they were clasping either side of his face. She pulled him in for one more quick kiss before releasing him and placing her hands gently on his shoulders. ”We can do this, right?” her voice was barely louder than a whisper and she could barely even hear herself.

@lestrange Phil couldn't not have imagined anything better, he couldn't have dreamed it. And he had dreamed plenty since Christmas. Their kiss was perfect, everything about the moment was perfect. Until Andy pulled away. She gasped and Phil opened his eyes suddenly, wondering what he had done wrong, if he had done anything at all. He was coming to realize that just because Andy reacted to something he did... it didn't necessarily mean he had done something wrong. Tears started filling her eyes. Worry and shock were his first emotions and he was sure that the sudden feelings were evident on his face. He knew kissing her had been a bad idea. He should have just kept their relationship simple for now. Then Andy brought her hands to frame his face and pulled him closer, for a brief kiss. Well, that was... good? Andy was searching his eyes, searching for something in his own when she asked her question. Phil didn't know how to answer her question. But she seemed to need him to be strong for her. He could do that. "I think," he said and he brought one hand up to interlace his fingers with hers, then kissing the back of her hand. "We can do anything if we do it together." His voice matched hers, quiet and thoughtful, but with more certainty. Not that he was more certain, just more... hopeful. And it was right then that he made a decision. There was no way he was going to let her go again, not without a fight. "Andy." he whispered, smiling just a bit as he tilted his head to get a better look into her eyes. "We can do this. But this... whatever this is, it is ours. We can take as long as we want. Or short, whatever, I'm flexible." he tried to put her at ease, hoping he hadn't just stuck his foot in his mouth.
