hello there, my name is Parvati Macmillan but you can call me Parvati, because I don’t really have any nicknames. i'm 43 so that makes me an alumna at Hogwarts, where I resided in Gryffindor house. You could say I'm brave, daring, & chivalrous, but I personally think that I am outgoing, flirty, and superstitious. People say I look a lot like Tabu, but I don't really see it...

appearance:
Parvati is 5’8” tall and has a slim build. Of Indian descent, she has tanned skin, long black hair, and dark brown eyes. She often keeps her eyes lined with kohl, and, instead of the plait in which she used to keep her hair as a schoolgirl, she tends to keep her hair down, with more intricate styles reserved for special occasions. Both of her ears are pierced, once on each lobe, as is her left nostril, in which she rarely puts jewelry. It isn’t uncommon, however, to see stacks of bangles adorning her wrists.
Even in her daily life, Parvati is very fastidious and prides herself on looking put-together. She cares a great deal about her appearance and can be quite vain about her looks. Most of her wardrobe consists of brightly-colored robes. She also owns a number of Indian-inspired pieces of a more wizarding nature, as well as items such as lehengas and saris.

overall personality:
It is safe to say that Parvati is much better at dealing with others’ problems than her own. While coquettish as a schoolgirl, with a reputation as a gossip to match, she has become more level-headed with age, although she will still happily catch up on the latest news over tea. She is genuinely sympathetic towards others’ issues, however, and does her best to help where she can. Having been forced to grow up very quickly because of the Second Wizarding War, Parvati has seen some of the darkest aspects of humankind, and she is very conscious of how her words and actions will affect those around her, which makes it that much harder for her when she feels that she has been slighted.
Parvati struggles to hold on to her youth—a particular insecurity of hers ever since learning of her husband’s infidelity—and can be quite vain, where her appearance is concerned. She worries that she is too old to be able to find love after her divorce, though she tries to keep her problems bottled up to keep from being a burden. She would be the last person to admit that anything is wrong in her own life and throws herself into her work as a coping mechanism.
Due to her interest in divination, Parvati can be very superstitious in her beliefs and is careful to avoid doing anything to bring bad luck upon herself. She isn’t always capable of seeing how ridiculous some of her notions can come across as being, but she does mean well.

history:
Born on January 28, 1980, to wizarding parents in London, England, Parvati Patil made her entrance into the world a few minutes after her identical twin sister, Padma. As part of a pure-blood family, she and her sister grew up in the magical world, spending their younger years at their family home in Knightsbridge. Having a twin meant that Parvati never had to look far for a playmate, and, as different as the girls were in terms of personality, they were also—figuratively speaking—attached at the hip, with Parvati preferring to play with dolls or dress up. The Patils also made occasional trips to India, where much of their extended family remained. There was no doubt that Parvati and Padma would receive their letters to Hogwarts, and indeed they did upon their eleventh birthday.
On September 1, 1991, the twins made their journey to Hogwarts together, though the two were soon split when the Sorting Hat placed Parvati in Gryffindor House, rather than Ravenclaw, into which Padma had been sorted moments before. Parvati found it difficult at first to be separated from her sister, but her outgoing nature led her to make friends quickly. Parvati’s first two years at Hogwarts passed relatively uneventfully (at least compared to her later years at the school), and it was during her third year at Hogwarts that she discovered her favorite subject: Divination. She became very close to her Divination teacher, Professor Sybill Trelawney, and—while she did not turn out to be a Seer—Parvati continued to take Divination through N.E.W.T. level. Her fourth year at school was largely interrupted by the Triwizard Tournament, where she served as Harry Potter’s date to the Yule Ball. Then, in her fifth year, Parvati (along with her twin) was among the students who joined Dumbledore's Army from its inception. The events of the Second Wizarding War forced Parvati to become more mature in her outlook, and it was during her sixth year that she and her sister had to persuade their parents to allow them to remain at Hogwarts amid the chaos. (However, she and Padma returned home following the death of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.) As pure-bloods, the twins’ attendance at Hogwarts for their seventh year was mandatory, and Parvati again fought alongside Dumbledore’s Army to defend the school, participating in the Battle of Hogwarts.
Upon graduation from Hogwarts, Parvati joined the staff of the popular women's magazine Witch Weekly shortly after leaving Hogwarts, working her way up to a position as the publication's advice columnist. The job, which put her gossipy tendencies from her school days to good use, was ideal for Parvati, and she greatly enjoyed helping readers of the magazine to sort out their personal problems. Never could she have foreseen, however, that she would one day have personal problems of her own, as she reconnected with former Hufflepuff Ernest “Ernie” Macmillan. She had never been very close to him in school, but, as they were both pure-bloods and members of Dumbledore’s Army, the two hit it off, marrying only a few years later. It wasn’t long before Parvati gave birth to twin boys, who brought her and Ernie great joy.
As their sons grew older, Parvati’s marriage to Ernie began to sour when she discovered that he had been unfaithful to her. Wanting to stay together for the sake of their children, however, she let Ernie’s infidelity slide and assumed that they would be able to patch things up. Unfortunately, their marital problems came to a head as the fear that Parvati recognized from her youth began to resurface. She filed for divorce from Ernie a week after the death of Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt was reported, using her work as an “agony aunt” as a distraction from her own issues. The tactic worked for a while, even as the attacks grew ever closer to home—and to her teenage sons. In the aftermath of the recent kidnappings from Hogwarts, Parvati was tapped to take on the newly-created role of the school’s counselor, which she readily accepted.
