Rose didn't know why, but as she sat there waiting for a response from her mother she braced herself for the worst possible answer. The worst thing that she figured her mother could do was forbid her from seeing him. Unless, of course, she told her father and he... well, Rose was afraid of what her dad would do if he found out. Especially if even her mother didn't approve. Instead, Hermione smiled and even admitted that she had wondered if it had been Scorpius she had had feelings for. That surprised Rose enough to the point where her eyes widened in surprise. But it was definitely a good sort of surprised.
It seemed as though her mother had no issue. Rose felt her nerves calming a bit, then her mother asked her if he really made her happy. Rose took a moment of silence until she finally nodded. "Yeah. He does. He really does," she said, a smile spreading across her face. Rose couldn't remember the last time someone had made her so... happy. Then reality hit her again and her eyes widened once more. "Oh, don't tell Dad, Mum! Please!" She burst out suddenly. "He... he won't be happy. I just know it." She shook her head frantically.

Hermione couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Rose’s frantic reaction to her father finding out about Scorpius. “Oh trust me I do not want to be the one to tell him,” she said, then planted a kiss on her daughters’ forehead. “Sorry darling, that talk is all yours.” Ron would probably overreact to Rose dating the Malfoy boy first of course; Ron would never forget the animosity between Draco, Harry and himself over the years. Hermione was the only one really who truly could put the past behind them. Fatherhood and marriage to a kind woman had really changed Draco in her opinion. It had been high time to let bygones be bygones. She could hear shouts of laughter and voices outside the cabin; the others must have been coming back from their skiing adventures. Hermione briefly gave Rose a one-armed hug. “You’ll be fine Rose, you always are. You just make sure your happiness is your priority. Along with your schoolwork and Head Girl duties of course,” she told her teasingly. The conversation about Scorpius would stop now of course, with Ron back in the house it couldn’t be spoken of. But she knew her daughter would know when the time was right to tell her father what was really going on. And she would be there to support her no matter what. END THREAD cause this is a summer thread
