@lestrange The Longbottom family had gone on a camping trip. Sometimes on camping trips the kids were allowed to bring a friend. Phil thought about inviting Ranger, but honestly.. he just wanted some alone time with Andy. He didn't have to invite her because she was part of his family. His adopted sister or something. That sounded really strange, but it worked out nicely. Most of the time. The family had set up their tents and hauled all of their supplies inside. But the night was so beautiful, it would have been a shame to sleep inside of a tent when the stars were just begging to be seen. This arrangement also opened up the opportunity for Phil to slide his sleeping bag over next to Andy's. The family was all settled down, and some were asleep already. That meant the loudest noise was the crickets in the night, singing their soothing song. Phil wasn't sure if Andy was already asleep when he got into the cloth bag to escape the chill of the night air. He had been helping his uncle Carson put up some wards around the camp site. He was saying you couldn't be too careful. And Phil totally agreed. After what had been happening, and with the Hogwarts Express still fresh on his mind... well he was more then happy to set up wards. He lay on his back with both arms behind his head giving him a little cushion as he gazed up at the stars. He glanced over at Andy with a smile. "Hey." he whispered, hoping she wasn't asleep.

Andy was wide awake, of course.
The thought of sleeping under the stars out in the open, so vulnerable and bear was unnerving to her, but it also was incredibly exciting and beautiful. She lay there, flat back and eyes toward the skies when she heard Phil coming closer. She closed her eyes as he got settled in beside her, trying her best not to smile at his presence. Then he spoke and she opened her eyes softly, turning toward him slightly. "Hey," she whispered back, her eyes meeting his. "How's Carson?" she asked. The guy had been through a lot and was clearly a bit paranoid about being out in the open like this, which she was very grateful for. Andy was comforted, however, by the fact that so many people and especially adults that she trusted were there. She hadn't really trusted many adults her lifetime and it was... different, and nice to have that now. That protection and that love.
She was even more grateful for Phil and her other friends she made this year. She had been so standoffish for the last sixteen years, it was a whole new world having a slue of people she could call in times of need. Heck, she was even helping others. People came to her for help, and that was something she had never experienced before. That was all thanks to Phil, in a way. He was her first friend and his family had taken her in. Her gaze softened at the thought and she reached a hand over to place it on the side of his face, softly stroking his cheek with her thumb.

@lestrange Phil wasn't surprised she was awake, but his smile grew all the same. She didn't like being out in the open like this, which was part of the reason Phil had come over by her in the first place. A small part. The rest of him wanted to just be near her. "Carson is going to be okay, though nothing is going to get through those barriers he put around us. Heck we won't be able to get out even if we tried." he joked and then realized how that sounded. "I mean, we could, cause we could just ask Carson and he would open them up for us without a second thought. It is not like we are trapped or anything, I swear!" His smile turned into an embarrassed one. But that relaxed when Andy laid her hand on his cheek, brushing her thumb across his skin. His eyes closed with his exhale. Who would have ever thought that small touch could make him feel so.... content? When Phil opened his eyes again to look at her, he brought his hand to hers, resting it on top. "So, how are you liking the sleeping under the stars?" his voice was soothing and quiet. It was natural, and also necessary. Carson probably wouldn't stand for any of this. Phil recalled one trip where the Lloyds had come along. Andrew had brought his girlfriend. The two went off somewhere but Carson found them. When they came back, she was in a pretty big hurry to leave. Now that he was older, Phil could guess what had happened. And nothing like that was happening here! But still, Carson took his job very seriously. (Your post killed me! So cute!)

Andy smiled wider as Phil tried to cover up his tracks of making it sound like they were trapped. She hadn't thought about it that way until he said it, and even then she didn't mind it. Being trapped her, with him and her family, wasn't the craziest or worst place to be trapped, really. Heck, if she ever had to get trapped anywhere she'd like it to be right here. Maybe a little closer to Phil though... the thought caused her to do just that, move a little closer, her hand still on his cheek.
She felt him breathing and has he closed his eyes she took the opportunity to take in his features with a whole new level of concentration. It was only a moment before he opened his eyes again, bringing his hand to rest on hers. At his question, she smiled again, speaking in the same tone of voice he was. "It's beautiful. I'm not even scared, really. I don't need to be," she admitted. She chewed on her lip momentarily before lifting her hand from his face, his hand atop hers, as she moved his other arm into a place where she could comfortable slide closer to him, her head resting on his forearm, her knees slightly bent and her eyes on his. "I have you," she finally finished the thought as to why she didn't need to be scared.
Then she remembered something. That she wouldn't have him beside her come fall. She tried not to let her heart sink at that, but it did. It probably showed in her eyes, her sudden change in the thought process. She didn't move away, though, she didn't want to do that. Plus. It was going to be her birthday at midnight, she shouldn't ruin it by being sad, right?

@lestrange There were many times in his life when Phil had been happy. He thought of himself as a pretty happy guys, cause he was. But happiness was very different then what he was feeling right now. Content was a good word, but not quiet right. She seemed to be studying his face as she shifted close to him. He thought about saying something, but decided better of it, after all he was doing the same thing. Memorizing her features, the soft sound of her voice. The stars twinkled happily above them, doing what they did best. Phil couldn't think of a better place to spend for Andy's birthday. Not to mention his mom's. Was it coincidence that two of the most important women in his life had come into the world on the same day? He smiled at her, his lips tugging up slowly. He made her feel safe. Coming from Andy, there was no greater compliment, no stronger expression of love she could have voiced. His heart was full. Content was a good word. The moment didn't last. Phil watched as the light in Andy's eyes dimmed, her face falling. He resisted the urge to sit up in worry, that would alert Carson to them, and he did not need that right now. Instead he squeezed her hand, then brought his own hand to her face, mirroring the motions she had done just a moment ago. "Andy? What's wrong?" he asked in the hushed tone that had become standard for this conversation. Muse - Rather Be Pentatonix

He tightened his grip on her hand and brought his hand to her face which was clue enough to Andy that he had seen the change in her expression. At his question, she shook her head and then turned it to kiss his hand closest to her before turning back to face him. "I'm going to miss you, that's all. Not sure how I'll survive," she chuckled softly even though she was one hundred percent serious about this. How was she going to survive? Was all of her hard work going to disappear into waste while he was gone? No, she had done this on her own, right? Phil had helped, of course. He was a huge part of her new life, of her entire life now, but she could manage without him. If she really tried.
She sighed, scooting even closer to him until they were almost touching, her face only an inch or two away from his. "Just don't fall for some beautiful Brazilian girl," she smirked, leaning forward to gently kiss the tip of his nose. "Promise?" she whispered. In reality she had no fear of that happening, but that wasn't what she was really asking him to promise. She wanting him to promise not to forget her, not to get too immersed in a more exotic place and lose her in his heart. She wanted him to promise that he still loved her, no matter what. But she wasn't going to ask all that outright. No, her eyes would say enough.

@lestrange He and Andy had been through so much together. hey had discovered their friendship, a romantic love, had a major falling out, and now had whatever this wonderful experience was. Through all of that, both of them had changed and grown together. A kiss to his hand was proof of just how far they had come. "You are going to survive just fine. You have always survived. That's what you do. " He tried in push all of his love for her through his eyes so she could see it. She moved closer, they were almost touching. Almost. "I'm going to miss you too." His voice barely a whisper but still audible to her ears. He had avoided thinking of the months without her. Sure he would be in Brazil studying plants he could only dream about. This was one of his dreams and he was living it. He just wished he could share it with Andy. She kissed his nose as she teased him. Andy wasn't really the jealous type. Well actually, Phil didn't know if she was. He had never given her a reason to be jealous. Not that he was going to now! Phil's plans were to go to Brazil, study plants, make friends, come home with Andy and finish out school with her. As she pulled away from kissing his nose he brought his hand up to stroke her cheek. "I don't think there is any danger of that." He said, leaning forward slightly so his lips touched hers. A rush of sparks seemed to come from their kiss, spreading through his limbs. Everytime they had kissed, which had been less than 5 times total, this had happened to him. And he didn't mind one bit. After a moment he pulled back, his gaze intense. "Andy, will you promise me something?" He asked her, a little hesitant. He was worried about her, being at school. She had some amazing friends, but when she was hurt, lonely, or afraid she tended to isolate herself. That scared him , that she would be alone the whole time he was gone. He didn't want that to happen.

She tried to nod at his words of encouragement, knowing that being melancholy about this wasn't the best course of action. She knew she was going to be fine, she had to be, but it was still a sinking feeling to picture what it would be like. She looked down at his hand for a moment, thinking about who would be there while he was gone. She had Susan, and Bay of course (though, Phil thought Bay was dea.d...) so she wasn't at a complete loss. But Susan wasn't in Gryffindor house, which meant the common room would be a lonely place, save Jayden.
Then he said there wasn't any danger of some beautiful girl stealing his heart and she nodded, chuckling a bit at how silly her request had been in the first place.
He kissed her after those words, and she couldn't help but sigh a little at the touch of his lips. She should know better, to stay quiet when there were so many others around. She smiled at him as he pulled back, her eyes softening. However, his gaze was rather intense as he asked her to promise him something. She raised an eyebrow and nodded, "what is it?" she asked.

@lestrange Phil took a breath. This was important to him, and he wouldn't feel right if he left without asking it. But that didn't make it any easier. "Will you," he paused to take another breath. "Will you try and spend a lot of time with your friends? And then write me all about it?" He asked her, still serious. If she spent a lot of time with her friends, then she wouldn't be so lonely. And if she wrote him he would have a little piece of her. He needed that. Brazil was going to be amazing, he was excited for everything over there, but he understood that he had to give something up. The time he would have spent here. "Just so you aren't bored or lonely or something. I know you have some great friends, but I mean I won't be here and we spend a lot of time together, not that I take up all of your time or anything." he stopped talking, he was just going to make his request sound stupid.

At the sound and sight of him taking that preparatory breath, Andy felt a small surge of panic. She quickly calmed herself, though, knowing that Phil wouldn't ask her to do anything crazy. Then he explained the promise and Andy found herself furrowing her eyebrows at him. She had a feeling he would bring that up. Bring up her past habits and ask her not to slip into them. She sighed, slowly nodded her head once he was finished. "I know what you mean," she assured him, to put him at ease about maybe feeling silly or stupid. "I'll try. I promise I'll try," she said. She hadn't really been that close to anyone except for Andy and Bay and even they didn't get a lot out of her until this last school year. Since befriending Phil more, however, she had found herself able to make friends with the girls in her dorm and other people. Anna Weasley and others. She smiled, albeit a pathetic one but a small nonetheless. "Only if you promise to write me about all the new friends you make," she said. She knew Phil, knew how he was. He was easy to get along with and charming, even when he didn't meant to be. He'd make friends fast. Faster than she ever did.

@lestrange Phil sighed when she said she would try. That was all he could ask for. His grip tightened on her hand as he smiled at her. Her own request was one that he was going to do anyway. He had already planned when he would do his writing while he was over there. He also had something else special planned for Andy, but he hadn't told anyone, except for Jayden who was supposed to be his delivery boy. "Deal." He said softly. "Though you know I was already planning on writing you about everything." he said. "Every little thing, how many new plants I found, All the places I went, maybe even how many books that I bought. What do you bet you get sick of my detailing every part of my brazilian life?" He said jokingly. He was nervous to leave, and excited. But he also knew this was going to be a big step in his and Andy's relationship. If It could last this separation... and it would last this, it was only a few months. What was the worst that could happen? Sometimes I hate you and your cursed brilliant ideas that break my Phil's heart.

She smiled back at him as his grip tightened on her hand. It wasn't a sad smile, at least not as sad as she expected. He spoke softly again and she kept her eyes locked on his. She shook her head at the end of his words. "I will not get sick of it," she said, drawing his hand to her lips and kissing his knuckles, "I will beg you for more. I want to know every detail," she said.
Then she heard a slight ringing beside her. She turned around and smacked the watch that had made the sound. "It's midnight," she said, turning to Phil, "happy birthday to me," she muttered. It was her seventeenth birthday. Almost like a weight, she felt the trace leaving her body. She smiled at the thought. To do magic whenever she wanted, wherever.
It was a sobering thought and yet... An exciting one.

@lestrange Phil heard the ringing and grinned. Andy's birthday. That was part of the reason they were on this trip in the first place. And Phil had something special planned for that. But no need for her to be aware of that... His face fell, and his eyes went wide. He put on a fake smile that was obviously aware he had forgotten something. "Oh! Happy birthday Andy!" He said a little louder than he should have. He had practiced doing this in front of his mirror since they had planned the trip, he just wanted to see what she would do. Of course he didn't forget her birthday! But, sometimes Ranger rubbed off on him and he just had to test some limits.

At Phils face falling, eye widening, exclamation that made it seem like he had forgotten her birthday, Andy's eyes widened. "Wha-" her eyes narrowed then. Was he messing with her or did he really forget!? She let her eyes return to normal and lifted her finger to tap the end of his nose, "if you talk that loudly then Carson is going to some over here and separate us," she said. She smiled, scooting closer to him now, which wasn't easy considering they were already very, very close. She placed her hands on either side of his face and brought his lips to hers, kissing him in a way that was probably a bit too intense to be doing on a camp out surrounded by their entire families.
She released him harshly, leaving her hands on his face as she glared at him, "did you really forget my birthday?"

@lestrange Phil's ploy was mostly working. He could tell that she was suspicious, but she might be persuaded to believe him, if he just gave it a little-- Then she was kissing him, and not the kind of kiss that they had shared before, this one was... intense. All thoughts of deception left his mind, actually any thought except for Andy left his mind. How could he do anything but think of her?His arm wrapped around her back, hand tangling in her hair. He kissed her again and again and then suddenly she pulled away. He probably looked ridiculous, ready for the next kiss, that was how fast she pulled away. "Did you really forget my birthday?" She accused with a glare that would have burned him had it been super powered. He couldn't keep it up. He just grinned widely in response to her question. "Do You think I would forget your birthday?" he questioned.
