Andy couldn't help but smile at his face when she pulled away, even though her eyes were giving him the death glare. Eventually, though, he grinned and confessed that he didn't actually forget. "Oh," her face relaxed and she giggled slightly, trying to keep her voice down. "Good. Because that would be very sad," she said, giving him a slight pout.
Something strange had come over her tonight. She felt... free. As if a new wave of confidence had spread over her. She felt like she could do anything, be anything. She wanted it to be all because of Phil, but she knew that wasn't the whole reason.
She took in a deep breath, eyes wide as she looked into his. "Let's go on a walk," she said, tightening her grip on his face slightly, not bothering to phrase it as a question.

@lestrange my muse, my light, my world, my everything Phil enjoyed the feel of her hands on his face, even when she squeezed them together a bit. It was worth it. He loved being so close to her. He was just fine with the distance they kept most of the time, it didn't bother him. But being close like this was really nice. At the suggestion that they go for a walk, Phil responded by getting up but staying crouched down, he wouldn't want Carson to see them. This was good, because his present for her wasn't something he could have hid in his sleeping bag, and he kind of wanted to give it to her in private. "If we run for the trees, Carson might not see us." he said softly then grabbed her hand and started running.

He got up in answer to her question and her eyes widened, a finger flying to her lips in order to shush him, but he stayed quiet. She smiled at him, a wicked smile as if this was the most sneaky thing they were doing ever. It really wasn't, considering that time in the Greenhouse... she smiled and nodded at his words about running for the trees and let him take her hand, pushing off the ground as he started to pull her toward the trees. She giggled, and struggling in trying to hold that back. She gripped his hand tightly as they ran and once they reached the trees she slowed, "wait," she said, getting out of breath. She pulled on his hand as she flattened her back against a tree trunk to catch her breath. She looked up at him, her smile wide. This was her best friend, her biggest ally, and the person she loved more than anyone in the entire world.

@lestrange my goddess, my best girl, the water to my roots Phil ran as fast as he could, holding in laughter. Why was he so excited? They were just going for a walk! But here he was laughing as he ran, laughing from excitement. Andy stopped him when they got to the trees, leaning against a tree for support as she breathed. Maybe it was the night air, maybe it was the way she glowed with excitement. But Phil was here in the woods, relatively alone with Andy, the girl he loved, adored, his best friend. So he took a chance. He closed the small distance between them and wrapped his hand behind her neck and kissed her.

Andy caught her breath as his hand caught her neck and he kissed her. They had honestly never kissed so much in one... Sitting? Hangout? Time spent together? Either way, it was starting to feel like a drug. She giggled again in been their kisses, one of her hands landing in his chest and the other reaching up into his hair. She hadn't ever considered herself a giggler, neither had she thought she would be in this situation. She pulled him toward her by his hair and continuing kissing him until, finally, she shook her head and scrunched her nose at him. "You're going to get us in trouble. Come on, lets walk," she ducked under his arm, almost in a dance like motion, until she was on the other side of him, tugging him toward the trees. "Just make sure we don't get lost."

@lestrange The... phoenix to my cyclops Phil wasn't really sure what to think of all the kissing. But did people really think about kissing? Apparently, he was starting to think about it all the time. He smiled against her lips but then she ducked under his arm spinning him around and pulling him further into the trees. He laughed happily as he followed her. "We won't get lost, I have been in this forest a million times." he said. His family had gone camping there often, it was one of their favorite spots. When he was younger he may have gotten lost in the trees, but not now. Now he knew how to read the plants and find his way back to camp, Now, he had Andy with him. "What are we doing out here, Andy?" he asked, her present, which he had forgotten about til now, was back at camp in a tent. He couldn't get to it from here.

"You guys have come here a lot?" Andy guessed as he said he had been out there a million times. Her family didn't do any sort of camping, not that this was a big surprise. Any sort of activity that got them closer together generally didn't happen. Well, at least not where Andy was involved. She was an extra and her parents had made it very clear that they'd be glad to be read of her once the time came. She wondered if they were glad now. She doubted it. They were possessive over her even if they hated her.
he asked what they were doing out there and she turned to look at him, eyebrow raised. "We're... walking?" she said, unsure what he was referring to. Sure she wasn't normally the type to encourage going off into the woods alone but... what was wrong with a little spontaneity?
@philiplongbottom OOOOH uh... my only hope.

@lestrange Phil ran a little to get closer to her. he took her hand in his, that was the only way to go on a walk in the woods, holding hands. "Well, I guess the birthday girl gets what the birthday girl wants." he smiled as he said this. How did he get lucky enough to have his best friend be his girlfriend? And not only be invited but expected to come to family gatherings because she was part of the family? Granted, that did make it a little awkward some times, but for the most part it was all for the best. "We come out here all the time." he said in response to her first question. "At least once a summer, sometimes more." he grabbed a leaf as they walked and studied it. Other people might start picking it apart, but Phil was trying to decide what kind of leaf it was.

Andy wasn't surprised that he took her hand. It was an odd feeling, though. It felt entirely natural but at the same time it sent a shock through her, like she wasn't sure if it was appropriate. He said that the birthday girl gets what she wants and such and Andy shot him a little glare, but she was smiling of course. How could you not when Phils eyes and that smile were in your line of vision?
She nodded as he said that they came out there all the time, watching him look at a leaf. "Cool. I don't think my parents could survive in the woods," she said, giving a slight chuckle. She hated using the word 'parents' for them but she wasn't sure how else to describe them at the moment. She chewed on her lip, her eyebrows knitting together at the thought...
"Phil," she started, looking back up ahead, "do you..." she paused. She already knew the answer to her question. She had seen the way Phil had looked when Jayden was hurt, when Nik threatened her. He had that same feeling she did, somewhere deep down. His was different, though, she was sure. Hers was more... she didn't finish the thought. Or her question.

@lestrange Phil bumped his shoulder against her's as they walked. "Your parents... Well it doesn't matter cause you have new parents now who are pretty awesome." he said. He was going to comment on her parents, but he had nothing kind to say about them, nothing even remotely pleasant to say actually. So he just didn't say anything. Which was probably for the best. He had often thought about what he would say to Andy's parents if he ever met them... if they were anything like Nikolaj he wasn't sure those conversations would go well. Thankfully he didn't have to worry about it right now. "Phil, do you..." Andy started and was obviously thinking about something, but she never finished her question. Phil looked over at her with a smile. He paused their walk, turning to take both of her hands in his. "Do I what? Ask me Andy." he said softly. He wanted them to be completely honest with each other, if she had a problem, or a desire or whatever, he wanted to know about it. And he hoped she felt the same way about him.

Andy smiled slightly and nodded as he said that her new parents were awesome. "I agree. The other family members aren't that bad either." honestly, she didn't know that much about Alice, it was hard to, but she loved Phil and she loved Jay. She was sure Alice was a great person too, somewhere that she couldn't see. She could tell she was really passionate, and that was enough to at least respect her adoptive older sister. Things seemed to be lightening up now, though, which made Andy wonder if Alice was about ready to open up to all this... really, she hadn't thought about it that much. Either way, Andy owed Carson a lot too and his family was great as well.
Phil turned and took both of her hands in his and asked her to finish her question. She kept her eyes on his, nodding slowly, "okay... I just mean, how can you watch from the sidelines while bad things happen? I mean, obviously you'd stop it if you were there but... afterwards. How do you get past the need for.... vengeance?" she said that last word very quietly, but she knew he'd understand. "I was just thinking about Jay, I mean..." and she was. And Phil. And Neville. And Hannah. And Alice. And Rory. And everyone that Nik put in danger with his warnings...

@lestrange Phil considered her question. Vengeance was a topic he was familiar with. After Jayden... He looked away from Andy as he thought. Not out of shame, he had worked through his feelings, but because he needed to think and it was hard to think about when he was looking at her face. She tended to make his brain veer off topic. So he looked at the tree behind her. How did he get past his feelings of vengance. A small part of him hadn't. He still wanted to hex whoever had done it to Jayden. But a larger part of him had let go. Maybe it was because he had choosen not to think about it. But a bigger part of him... Had chosen to let go. And he had done it because his family loved him. He looked back to Andy. "I can tell you this, it isn't easy. I don't think I am really over it, If I found out who did that to Jay... " he shook his head then continued. "Right after it happened, it was hard for me to think about anything else. I just wanted to hurt them, like they had hurt Jay. But I talked to my dad, helped me calm down a bit, and reminded me that letting that person control so much of my life, even if they didn't know it, would take a toll. So I decided to focus on the people I had, on the things I could control and that made me happy." He finished off his sentence by putting his forehead on hers. "Things like you."

Andy knew that he was right, somewhere in there. She hear the words loud and clear, and yet the meaning was muddled somewhere in translation. She heard that he wasn't over it... that it was hard for him to think of anything else. That he didn't want to let that person control his life... but she wanted to control their life. She wanted Nik to understand what fear felt like, and she wanted him to feel it more than anyone ever had. She didn't show this, though, at least not entirely. Whatever she had been showing on her face a moment ago was replaced by a soft smile as he placed his head on hers. "You're right, as always," Phil didn't have to understand right now, maybe he never would. He was right, though, about all of it. Especially about focusing on the things that made you happy and the things you had control over. He made her happy, and she could control stopping someone from hurting him, right? The idea had already taken root, like a poison, and every word out of his mouth only made it grow more. She pulled back slightly, just enough to kiss the tip of his nose. "Let's head back," she muttered softly.

@lestrange Phil was relieved when she agreed with him. He could tell she was dealing with some pretty strong feelings, but he knew she would come out on top. Whatever she did, she was strong, and she would make it through. At the mention of heading back Phil paused. "Let's just make a quick pit stop before he go all the way back." he said as he grabbed her hand and started walking back toward camp. A few minutes later they were at the supply tent. "Wait here." he said. He walked into the tent and went to the back. Her present was wrapped nicely in brown paper sitting under a stack of towels. He had thought this was a rather great gift, especially considering he was leaving at the end of the summer. He walked back out of the tent and closed it before turning to Andy and handing her the parcel. Under the neat brown wrapping paper was a blank book bound in beautiful brown leather. He had one just like it in his bag at home, the bag he was going to take to Brazil. "Happy Birthday, Andy." he said as he passed the package to her.

Andy allowed him to make the pit stop, leading her to the supply tent and asking her to wait outside. He came back with a brown parcel and she smiled and he handed it to her. "Thanks," she said softly, taking it and slowly unwrapping the paper. Once the leather book was revealed she pulled it out all the way. She smiled, "hey, you have this too," she deducted. "So, are we to write about each other then? Is that the plan?" she guessed, stepping forward to wrap both arms around his neck, book still in hand. "I'll just write I love you a thousand times," she muttered softly as she leaned in for another kiss.
Things were going to be fine. They were going to be fine. There was only one person who wasn't going to be... and happily, he wasn't there.
