The start of another year. Actually her last year. Blast Asa for starting her off on those kinds of thoughts. She was going to be thinking that all year, thanks to them. Still, she tried to keep her mind in the present. She was sitting in the Great Hall with Andy, waiting for the feast to begin. At the Headmaster's announcement, she turned to Andy, excitement in her eyes.
"What do you think about that Andy?" she asked, her eyes glancing around the room when the students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons entered. "We have some new faces around," she commented with a smile before turning her full attention back to her friend. She was a little worried for Andy now. With Phil gone, this was definitely going to be a hard start to the year and Anna wanted to make sure Andy knew she was there for her.

Andy was in shock, horror and awe over the tri-wizard announcement. She shook her head, wide eyed, at Annas question. "I... it's weird," she said slowly. Then she turned to Anna and smiled back, but it was a small smile. When the feast started after the sorting had finished, Andy saw something moving on her plate out of the corner of her eye. She looked down in fear until she realized what it was. A small group of flowers was rapidly growing there, spelling out the words 'I love you to the moon and back'. Her cheeks turned bright red and she smiled before turning to Anna and gesturing to her plate, ”either Phils a genius or someone else is in love with me.”

Anna gave a soft smile, noticing that Andy seemed nervous at the mention of the tournament. "Weird or unexpected?" she asked with a smile. Her friend needed a pick-me-up. "Do you think you'll want to enter?"
Finally it was time to eat and Anna was ready. She was entirely focused on her food until she felt Andy jerk a little bit beside her. She turned quickly, instantly nervous even though she didn't know why. Then she saw. It was a bunch of flowers, growing into words and she bit her lip to keep her smile from growing too wide. Phil. She turned her attention to Andy, who was smiling and blushing and Anna was so glad. Good job Phil she thought to herself. Then, she laughed at what Andy said. "Oh, I'm pretty sure we both know who this was," she said, gently reaching forward to touch a flower. "I can't believe he did this! How did he know where you'd be sitting?" Anna couldn't keep the thought to herself. This must have taken a tremendous amount of planning on his part. It was adorable!

"Weird," Andy confirmed, She didn't like the idea of this tournament at all. Unnecessary injury seemed a waste to her. But the skills used and learned and the interschool camaraderie was a bonus... she could admit that. "No way," she answered when Anan asked if she was entering, "are you?"
Andy was still bright red with Anna touched one of the flowers and asked how Phil would know where she was sitting. Andy shrugged, "I'm sure Jayden or Neville helped," she guessed, looking down the table to Jayden with an eyebrow raised.

Anna wasn't really surprised when Andy said there was no way she'd join the tournament. Anna smiled and shrugged, "I'm going to put my name in. I think it could be fun, but the chances of me being picked are minimal. I just want know I gave myself a chance so I won't regret it later," she explained lightly. She thought tournament would be fun but she didn't think she'd be selected to compete. There were so many people who put their names in.
Anna was grinning as she continued look at the flowers. This was perfect thing to do lift Andy's spirits and she was proud of Phil for doing it. She nodded at Andy's idea. "I think you're right. Someone definitely helped. I wonder if he has anything else planned," she teased lightly, nudging Andy's shoulder with her own.

Andy wasn't surprised that Anna was going to put her name in the Goblet. She would make a great champion. Though, Andy silently thought it would be best if Anna and Ranger focused their attention elsewhere but... alas, that was the reason Abby and James had asked them to look after PR, after all. They were brave and talented, hence why they wanted to enter the tournament. "A chance is always nice," Andy said with a small courteous smile. She didn't need a chance to get anyone hurt, she couldn't trust that.
Andy turned her attention back to the flowers and sighed, reaching to move them off her plate so she could eat. She set them aside, "knowing him he probably does..." that thought worried and excited her. Would flowers be embarrassing her all semester long? Not that she really found it that embarrassing.

At Andy's somewhat hesitant response, Anna couldn't wonder if there was more to this than met the eye. Was Andy worried about people, about everyone that was joining the tournament? Anna couldn't tell. She still didn't know Andy well enough, but she was working on that. "Yeah," she responded with a small sigh. Wouldn't it be amazing to win the tournament?
"You make that sound like a bad thing," Anna teased, watching as Andy moved the flowers so she'd be able to eat. She knew that Andy loved Phil, and Anna wouldn't be surprised if secretly Andy loved his little flowers. That just seemed natural to her.

Andy shrugged as Anna said she made Phils surprises sound like a bad thing. She felt her lip quivering and turned toward her plate again, keeping her eyes on it, "I just miss him. That's all," that was a big chunk of the truth, of course. Her eyes were getting wet now and she sat up harshly, clearing her throat and shaking her head as she reached out to the food, "so, do you think anyone else from Gryffindor will enter? I bet almost all the seventh years will," she changed the subject back, eating some food as she listened to Anna's answer.

Anna wrapped one arm around Andy's shoulder for a few seconds as she apologized. She hadn't meant to make Andy feel bad. "I know. I'm sorry I was just teasing, but it wasn't really funny, was it?" She pulled back and smiled sadly at her friend.
Then Andy changed the subject and Anna let her. She gave a wry smile, "I wouldn't be surprised if almost everyone from Gryffindor puts their names in the Cup. Probably most of the seventh years in the school too. I mean, this is a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity, you know. Not that I'm trying to convince you," she added quickly. "I think everyone will just want to say that they tried, you know? Most people will probably be relieved when the name comes out of the Goblet and it's not theirs. At least they can say they did their best." She gave a self-depreciating laugh. "That's how I'm going to feel," Anna added. She was almost positive that the goblet wasn't going to chose her. In a way, that was a relief but at the same time, she wanted to prove herself.

Andy shook her head, "no, no. It's fine," the last thing she needed was for Anna to think she had done something wrong. She hadn't. The only person in the wrong here was Andy, and she knew that. She knew what she was, what she was thinking... she forced a smile, "i'm fine."
Andy nodded, "you're right," she felt bad that Phil couldn't enter... but also really, really relieved at the same time. "I think Hogwarts stands a great chance, but I don't know much about the other schools so I can't really say... I've seen some of us in action though," which was sad, "and I think it'll be great no matter who gets chosen."

Anna smiled. She knew it wasn't fine, that Andy was upset over something, but she decided to let it go. She didn't want to make things more emotional than they already were. She nodded when Andy started talking about the Tournament. "I'm about the same. I'd love for us to win, but I really don't know anything about those other schools. Some of their students look pretty intense," she commented as she glanced around the room at all the foreigners. "I think it would be really fun to watch, for sure," Anna commented. She knew it probably didn't make sense since she already said that she wanted to be the Hogwarts Champion, but she was alright with either. "I mean, it'd be cool to be the Hogwarts champion, but if I'm not, it'll be fine. I'm just excited that we actually get to see it first hand, get to be a part of something bigger than just the school. Does that make sense?" Anna was aware that she was rambling and hoped her friend didn't mind. Sometimes she tended to do that, though she wasn't exactly sure why. Or how to stop it. Oh well.

Andy nodded as Anna said the other students looked pretty intense. Andy wasn't even sure that she wanted to watch this tournament at all, but she would anyway. She knew Phil would want to know every detail of every second about it. A part of something bigger, Andy smiled at that. "I do know what you mean, of course. It'll be a nice change from last year. Hopefully the... bad guys are distracted enough..." she muttered, always the ray of sunshine!

Anna knew exactly what Andy was talking about. Last year was crazy. So many things happened, so many people got hurt. Hopefully with the attention of so many people on Hogwarts, there wouldn't be any problems. Still, that almost seemed like too much to hope for after everything that happened. People died and that still didn't make the people who did it want to stop. That kind of hatred probably wouldn't stop just because of a Tournament. Unless the leader got made the champion, but Anna didn't want that either. The people who initiated the horror of last year didn't deserve eternal glory. "Yeah, I hope so too. Still, no matter what happens and who gets chosen as champion, we have to make sure that this is a good year, right Andy? I mean, it's the last one we get here and I want to make sure it's a year to remember, don't you?" She knew it would be hard for her friend without Phil there, but they could still enjoy their time until he came back.

Andy nodded slowly as Anna spoke, only half listening and only half committing. She didn't know if she had the capacity to make it a good year. A year to remember. It would certainly be that, she was sure of it. She had a bad feeling about this year, about the things that would come and how they would change. How Hogwarts would change, how the world would change, and most of all how she would change. She turned to Anna with a half smile, "where do you get all that optimism?" she asked.

To say that Anna was surprised by Andy's question would be an understatement. "I dunno, Andy. I just ... I love it here and I want to end the year on a good note. Also, hopefully with the Triwizard Tournament things will die down for a bit. I really don't want to have to deal with both at the same time." She paused for a moment, thinking through that idea. How has she not thought of it before? What if all the attacks continued, even with the Triwizard Tournament and the guests and the excitement? What if everything got worse? "I can't bear to think of things the other way, Andy. If I did, I wouldn't be able to do anything but worry," she confessed in a whisper. She preferred to think of happier things.
