Anastasia's eyes widened slightly at Grey. She couldn't imagine being cruel to any student. Yes of course they had to follow the rules, but belittling them was not okay. It was a bit surprising to hear that Professor's were mean. Ana, who was extremely respectful and shy, would probably have a panic attack if another teacher was yelling at her. "Well, thank you for the warning. I'll definitely have to be careful." Anastasia smiled gently at Grey. "You should do the same, you seem like a great person, Grey."
"They could be jealous. It's considered disrespectful to the French, as well as shocking." Stasia knew if she had applied to be a librarian at Beauxbatons she probably wouldn't have received the job. She wasn't as serious and mean as some of her previous peers. "There's plenty of great things about Hogwarts! Yes, Beauxbatons is quite different, but I love it here."

The Monsters walk among us It was always funny when he admitted to professors that he wandered the halls at night. They always reacted like there was something really bad that roamed around taking out students left and right. As far as he knew, over the years of exploring, stuff like that only existed in the forest and the lake, and anyone with half a brain knew to stay clear of those areas at night. Still, students tested their luck and went down there, and that’s how people ended up hurt or dead. Grey couldn’t exactly feel bad for those folks, since they mostly brought it upon themselves. If he was to go down to either of those spots at night, he’d at least bring someone else or be aware of what could possibly lurk within. Since he didn’t know what kind of creatures were there though, he stayed away. Simple as that. It didn’t take a genius to figure it out. “I probably should stay inside the dorms at night, but I don’t always follow those rules,” Grey said, laughing awkwardly. It was weird telling her that. “I know my way around though, so it’s not usually a problem.” Except when he’s caught, and then reprimanded for the hundredth time on what not to be doing in the halls at night. It was kind of interesting that they hadn’t threatened him with being chained to his bed at night, or something along those lines. Grey found it interesting how Anastasia made Beauxbatons out to be different from how the students that were visiting Hogwarts did. As far as he could tell, they were extremely proud of their lineage and schooling, and not that Anastasia wasn’t, but there was a clear difference between her and them. Maybe it wasn’t outright obvious to most, but Grey could tell. He’d say he wasn’t the typical Hogwarts student, if that meant anything these days. Everyone seemed to by unique in their own way and that was a virtue that should be valued. “Makes sense. The students here do seem pretty proud of the fact that they’re from Beauxbatons…” he trailed off, not really wanting to talk about the parts where he was pretty sure most of them looked down on Hogwarts students. Grey didn’t care about that, but he had heard about complications already. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Anastasia couldn't help but laugh slightly. He was being unusual...somewhat shy, but she was sure he wasn't normally that way. Maybe it was just the uncomfortable start they had; at least that is what she was assuming. "I'm sure you should stay inside the dorms...but I can tell you don't care all that much." Ana gave him a small smile. Her voice was soft as she spoke. It might be hard for Grey to know she was kidding, but she did actually know he didn't care. If he did, he would stop doing it, and not only that, but he wouldn't be so calm talking about it. "I'm still learning my way around, I hope I get the hang of it all soon."
She laughed once more. He was definitely humorous and quite blunt about it all. "They are...very proud. Although I'm not always sure as to why. Yes, there are great things about Beauxbatons. However, that does not make them the top school of all." Anastasia had always wondered about those things...why some schools were preferred over others. It wasn't something she would let her future children do; Ana would most likely send them to Hogwarts as far as she was concerned.

The Monsters walk among us Saying that he didn’t care about the rules wasn’t necessarily wrong, but it also wasn’t exactly right either. Grey had long given up on trying to keep himself locked up in the Gryffindor common room after hours. It was too boring sitting around, watching everyone do homework and have idle chit chat. Sure, fun things happened every now and then, but even when stuff like that did occur, it wasn’t the kind of entertaining, life fulfilling enjoyment that he was looking for. Roaming the halls after hours was an adventure, something that not everyone at Hogwarts was able to experience. There was no rhyme or reason to his wandering; most of the time he just did loops of a floor and then headed back to the dorm to sleep. That was usually enough to tire him out. Of course there were the other instances where he would bump into someone and they would try to find a room that never opened, or a secret passage somewhere. Those were the nights he longed for, ones that he used to get into all too many times in his earlier years at school. Nowadays, the Gryffindor prefects, Cecelia and Ranger, were well aware of his antics. It was hard to tell if they actually cared if he left or not. Grey had a knack for wiggling out of trouble with the previous prefects, so it wasn’t like he couldn’t do the same with the two new ones. “Not gonna lie, you’re right. Let’s keep that a secret though. Promise I won’t break into the library anymore.”It was funny listening to an adult, one that hadn’t graduated from Hogwarts, talk about trying to figure their way around the castle. That was one of the first things Grey had done during his first few years. He was still discovering new stairwells and hallways every now and then, but it wasn’t nearly as often as it used to happen. “It can take a while. To be honest though, you’re probably fine as long as you know the general layout of each main floor. The rest of the school is either locked up or so covered in cobwebs that it’s impossible to get through.” He paused thinking about what else there was to say about the structure of the school. “There’s also the dungeons…even I get lost down there sometimes. Not a huge fan of being underground like that.” It never came up in conversation much since he tried to keep it secret, but Grey was slightly claustrophobic. He had never had an issue when he was younger, but now that he was a lot taller, it was kind of hard to escape from smaller spaces, let alone get through them. Even though the dungeons were spacious in nature, the fact that they were underground unnerved him every now and then. “Nothing against them, of course. I think they’re quite an interesting group. There’s a few of them that are a little out there, but Hogwarts has just as many like that, if not more.” The difference between the three schools was painfully obvious. The skill levels of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students seemed to be way above where any of the older Hogwarts students were. It wasn’t hard to miss. There were a select few 7th years that probably compared to them, but the lot of them were average Joe’s. Grey liked to think he was a little better versed than the majority of his class, but it was impossible to tell sometimes. Where he was far superior in figuring out how people processed things, observation being his strongest asset, others had him beaten in wand skills. Whoever was chosen as the Hogwarts champion would definitely have a lot on their plate that was for sure. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Anastasia laughed. She didn't really know if she had the authority to even give students detention or not. She assumed so, however as far as Ana knew, librarians tended to be old and mean looking. And while she knew she wasn't fantastic, she wasn't old or mean. In fact, Anastasia didn't think she had a mean bone in her body. That would probably have to change soon...especially when people began to figure out who the nice young 'hot' librarian was. It made her nervous, and she tilted her head at Grey, smiling. "Your secret is safe with me...however, if you ever need anything you've just got to ask. I'm not some mean librarian." Ana let out an awkward laugh. This wasn't what she had thought about coming into this job.
Grey explained his own pursuits with the school and finding his way around, and she did find it quite helpful. She knew a decent amount as she had studied Hogwarts for awhile before moving in, and since Professors had to be there earlier than students, Stasia had done her fair share of wandering herself. "Well thank you for the advice, Grey, I'll keep that in mind."
"Interesting is a nice way to put it." She smiled. Anastasia loved Beauxbatons, but it wasn't the school she'd send her children too...if she had any in the future. She mostly just wanted them to feel comfortable and safe, and Hogwarts seemed like a great place for that. Her father on the other hand might have something to say about it, but Anastasia knew he'd eventually get over it. "So...tell me about yourself, Grey. What do you plan on doing after you graduate?"

The Monsters walk among us The awkward laugh from the librarian was enough to tell Grey that he probably shouldn’t be wandering into the library after hours anymore. That had never been his goal in the past anyways, so it wouldn’t be hard to shake that habit during his final year. To add to that, he also had full access to the library as a seventh year, whereas the restricted section had always been a topic of curiosity to him during his previous years. He had never managed to break into there without a teacher’s permission though, so now that it was available to him at all times, the novelty of sneaking into the library after hours was all but gone. In the same vein, sneaking around the halls had also lost its special place in him. It was one thing to wake up after a nap and realize it was after curfew, but he hadn’t purposely left the common room or stayed out late yet this term. He had just been conveniently outside of the common room after hours. It was nice to be able to confide all of this in an adult, even if she was only a few years older than him. He saw it more like talking to his older sister than to a professional doing their job. He’d have to make a mental note to not become too comfortable and expect to get away with things. Then the topic switched back to the Beauxbatons students that were at Hogwarts for the tournament. It seemed like he wasn’t the only one that thought they were an odd crowd. If Anastasia, an alumni of Beauxbatons, found them to be strange as well, there was definitely something up. He didn’t exactly see them as weird people, more that their personalities seemed to be quite over the top. A few that he had managed to hear about or talk to were extremely confident in their abilities. Grey was hesitant to call it arrogance, but it definitely came off as some form of that. Anastasia, on the other hand, seemed like she was the complete opposite of that, so it definitely wasn’t a school wide thing. Those chosen for the tournament had to have a special trait to them, and it seemed like their cockiness was the trait of the year. Eventually the conversation went to him. She had asked what he planned on doing after graduating. That was a tough one. He had been leaning towards becoming an auror lately, and everyone he had briefly mentioned it too seemed to agree, which was a good sign. That was a serious enough job where if someone didn’t think you were right for it, they would let you know. Plus, if Finn and Rai could make it into the training program with all the shenanigans they caused during their school years, it would be a cakewalk for the Gryffindor. Then there was joining a newspaper. It was currently his fall back plan if things didn’t work out with the aurors. He did like writing and working at the school paper, so it had initially been a toss-up between which career path he wanted to take. “I think I’m aiming to be an auror…” he paused for a second to make sure that was what he wanted to actually say. “…but I’m also interested in working for one of the newspapers. I’m the editor-in-chief of the school paper right now, so that’s kind of my fall back plan if anything goes wrong.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Anastasia had never considered anything but books. She would either have written them, or worked around and with them. And working at Hogwarts was even better; she had always wanted to see the inside and see exactly what it was like to be there, and to compare Hogwarts with Beauxbatons. Hearing that Grey wanted to be an auror was not so surprising to her; many witches and wizards were wanting to be an auror and help out with the world. Props to him, but Anastasia would never be able to do such a thing. "Well I do hope you get to do what you like, Grey. Don't ever do something you don't want to, then you won't be happy."
"The paper? That's great! You could also do something part time for them as well, depending on what you enjoy the most. I wouldn't have pictured you as a writer." She smiled. Granted, judging a book by it's cover is exactly what Anastasia was completely against, but it did just slip out. Grey seemed more quiet and kept to himself, but hey, if he liked writing, who was she to judge? Her eyes turned and she saw a few other students entering the library. "Grey it was really nice talking to you. I've got to go see if those students need any help, but if you need anything else just ask. Have a great evening." Ana smiled and gave him a gentle wave.

The Monsters walk among us He never would have guessed that he would be getting career advice by mistaking the school librarian as an exchange student. That was definitely on his list of one of the strangest things to have occurred in his life so far. He had always assumed getting attacked by a wild dragon while buying something in a Diagon Alley shop would be the highlight of his strange experiences, but this one was somewhere up there now. It wasn’t like it was really weird, just not what he had expected while trying to find a book. “Well lucky for me I like both things, so it comes down to which one really interests me the most, I guess.” He was pretty positive at this point in time that becoming an auror was his main goal. The school paper had always been a hobby, nothing more, nothing less. Instead of playing Quidditch like he had so desperately wanted, he had opted to write articles on it. And that’s why he had the predicament of what to do after graduating. Morality one in this case, and Grey had recently decided that being an auror was what he was meant to do, over being a somewhat seedy reporter for the Daily Prophet or some equivalent to that. “I’ve thought about the part-time work. It’s definitely a thought to take into consideration.” Rai had practically brought up the same idea over the summer. Funny how things worked like that. “It was nice talking too.” Grey said suddenly, realizing that he had taken quite a bit of her time up trying to find the book and talking after it. “Thanks again, for helping me find this,” he held up the book that had taken ages to find. “Probably couldn’t have been able to do the work without it.” He watched as she walked away, waving to him. Book acquired, he realized that meant he had to go back to the common room now and actually do the assignment. He really didn’t want to do that. Letting out a sigh, he placed the book back in its place on the shelf where it had been pulled from earlier, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and quickly ran out of the library before Anastasia could see that he had left the book behind. He’d be able to write the paper on his own without the book, or just not do it at all. Taking a nap was much more interesting anyways. [THE END] MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
