Due to the enhanced security at the school and the werewolf incidents of last year, it was nearly impossible Lily to get any time outside at night anymore. They were more more strictly administered the potion and kept Them safe on a full moon... It made her crazy. It also made her miss Adrian like crazy... Still, she was a lone wolf tonight as she managed to creep out onto the grounds. No doubt Someone knew she was on the grounds and was keeping an eye on her. Either way, she was grateful for the opportunity to explore the grounds alone for a moment... After an hour or so, however, she started getting restless for company. It was her lucky night, she realized, when she noticed Grey doing his own nightly wandering. She grinned, creeping around the whomping willow, hoping the sound of the tree would mask her own footfall. When the moment came she ran, jumping onto his back and wrapping her arms around his neck. "Grey! Fancy seeing you out here. You Mr. Grumpy pants as usual?"grey xavier slater

The Monsters walk among us Another sleepless night. Grey thought it was all done with at the start of the school year, but with everything going on now, it seemed like he’d never get out of the relentless cycle of sleep deprivation. Instead of crashed in bed like almost every other student at Hogwarts, he had snuck out onto the grounds to walk around, hoping that would help a little. Typically Grey felt safe sticking to the trails that lead all over the grounds, but with the increased Auror security in and around the castle, it was increasingly difficult to take those paths. Skipping off into the darkness of the grounds, he kept the castle and the edge of the forest within range of sight at all times, that way he wouldn’t get lost and wander into the lake. That was probably worse than walking straight into the woods at this time of night. After a decent amount of time, Grey found himself close to the whomping willow. The large, animated tree had always been a curiosity to him; the giant, swinging branches wreaking havoc on any unsuspecting passerby if they got even remotely close to it. The last thing he wanted to do was get destroyed by a crazy tree in the middle of the night. As he stared at the willow for a few minutes, Grey lost interest in it swinging wildly around and decided to head back inside the castle. Turning his back for only a few seconds, he felt something land on his back, arms thrown around his neck. Panic spread through his body as he thought an Auror had grabbed him from behind and was trying to take him down. Before he could reach back to try and throw the person off him, or attempt to, they spoke. “Merlin’s beard, Lily. You’re going to give me a heart attack doing that.” He could feel his adrenaline still surging as she hung onto him, the sheer panic he had been in mere seconds earlier not dropping yet. “I think after that scare, me being grumpy isn’t the correct word for it.” Grey took a few deep breaths before continuing, trying to calm himself down. “You just wandering around like usual too?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lily laughed maniacally as Grey said she would give him a heart attack, "That's kind of the point," she giggled, using the tip of her pointer finger to trace a little heart shape on his shirt, right over where his heart would be. She could feel that accelerated heart rate and she flattened her hand on his chest, "whoa there, I'm not that scary, am I?" she pouted before pulling her hand away to place it on his shoulder instead. No, she had not left the comfort of this piggy-back position yet.
"Oh, you know me. Always out and about," she sighed, flipping some of her hair over her head and over his so it was hanging in front of his face, "my hairs blonde now! Did you see?!" she giggled, tickling his nose with her long hair a little longer before flipping her head back so it wasn't blocking his vision anymore. "So, since I'm already here, mind giving me a ride back up to the castle?"grey xavier slater

The Monsters walk among us “You’re a little scary when you sneak up like that and jump on me. Thought you were an auror trying to take me down.” The last thing he wanted was getting caught by one of those guys. It was one thing if it was Finn or Rai, or even his sister, but the rest of the aurors were a lovely bunch, to say the least. And dragging him back inside wasn’t the best first impression to leave on the organization. Getting caught wandering around inside the castle was a different story though; usually it was a slap on the wrist and that was it. Grey stood still as Lily threw her hair over his face and tried to tickle him with it. What on earth was she doing? She had always been a little out there around him, probably because he didn’t care most of the time. He guessed there weren’t a lot of people that accepting of craziness at Hogwarts. “I did notice it. I think it suits you better.” The Weasley-Potter clan was rather boring looking, all of them having some sort of red-head genes in them. He could see how Lily wanted to be a little different from the rest of them, more so than she normal was. He sighed as she asked him to carry her back to the castle on his back. She was definitely acting weirder than usual, that was for sure. Grey grumbled out some sort of acknowledgement that he would carry her. “If you wiggle around too much I’ll drop you though.” She wasn’t heavy at all, and they weren’t too far away from the castle, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. But if she kept moving around she was definitely going to fall off of his back. “Keep an eye out too. I haven’t seen anyone patrolling yet, but there’s definitely a few of them around here.” The one bonus of having Lily on his back was that he could always argue that she sprained an ankle or something and he was bringing her back inside. How well that would roll this late at night was up to the auror that found them, if they were caught. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

"Awww, Grey is scared of a couple Aurors?" she laughed, ruffling his hair with her hand, "don't worry, I'll protect you," she whispered those last three words harshly, as if someone was listening but she was fake whispering. She laughed again, not bothering to keep that quiet. Lily's fearless nature was her biggest flaw and greatest strength, after all. "Thanks!" she said when he complimented her hair. Adrian still hadn't said anything about it other than being extremely surprised and slightly dumbfounded at the sight of her. That reaction was basically all she wanted from him anyway, so it was good enough for her. His sigh at her question just made her giggle even more. She tightened her grip on him, not enough to choke him or anything, obviously. "Fiiinnne," she agreed, but asking Lily to keep still was like telling a river to stop flowing. She tried her best though, at least gave it a good effort for now. "Okay, so far nothing seen form the crows nest captain," she joked, looking around for a moment, "so, how's the first month of school been for you anyway?" she asked, figuring they may as well chat while they walking about. grey xavier slater

The Monsters walk among us “I’m scared because they’ll be my future co-workers…” Grey grumbled under his breath as Lily played with his hair again. He had forgotten how handsy she was sometimes. Correction. That was all the time. “…and you’ll have to be the one protecting me. If I go down, so do you. Probably on top of me too.” Literally. Busted by the authorities and knocked down from her position on Grey’s back. He’d never had someone taken down from a piggy-back position, but there was no way that would be a comfortable landing, especially if she landed on top of him. Grey would be taking both spells and a crazy blonde all in one fell swoop. Lily’s grip tightened around his neck as he asked her to keep still. He knew it was going to be difficult for her to do that, but it was quite difficult trying to hold onto her when she was moving all over the place, especially throwing her hair in front of his face all the time. Grey liked to think he was reasonable with a lot of things, to a certain extent that is. Being asked to carry her around was one thing, but having to deal with squirming and goofing off in the middle of the night at the same time was pushing it a little far. Grey snorted when Lily called him captain. That confirmed it. She was officially crazy. He needed that though. Too many depressing things had been happening, and a little insanity and fun times were needed every now and then. “Thanks matey!” Grey managed to get between laughs. For whatever reason, that was what he needed right now. Forgetting about everything that was going on for a few minutes would help him out a lot. “The first month has been hell. But I’ve gotten off easy the last few years so it was bound to happen.” There he went again, dampening the mood. Grey seemed to be good at that these last few weeks. He was finding it harder and harder to be positive about things too. “I’ll get through it though.” he said, sighing. “What about you? This is the first time I’ve been graced by your presence all term, my liege,” Grey said jokingly. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

"Ooooooh," Lily nodded, "that's actually a pretty good reason. Bravo for you," she said with a grin. But, she didn't know that he was interested in being an Auror until this moment. Sure, he might have mentioned it before but Lily didn't bother remembering things people said. It just took way too much energy. She laughed loudly, once again not caring whether or not they were heard. "I'll protect you. Don't worry. I'll pretend to be a damsel in distress or something," she sighed dramatically and draped her wrist across her forehead. She remembered the whole 'keep still' thing and yelped, returning to as stoic a position as possible. His little snort and thanks matey! caused Lily to giggle with delight again. She was just glad that she had gotten him laughing. She was glad to do that for anyone. He answered her question and she scrunched her nose in disapproval, "school suuuucks," she added, but then smiled when he said he'd get through. At his question about her and how this was the first time he'd been 'graced by her presence,' Lily sat up a little straighter. "Awe, well, I am well loved and desired by all. It's just taken me a bit to get around to your turn," she snickered, letting go of his shoulder again to pat his head. Then she cursed under her breath, "holding still is too harrrrrdd," she whined, leaning forward until she was leaning over one of his shoulders with her arms lazily hanging over his chest, "I'll just be a dead body."grey xavier slater

The Monsters walk among us Everyone he had told about his desire to become an auror thus far had generally given the same response. He was starting to assume that meant it was a good fit for him. That or nobody knew how to actually respond other than say that it was a good idea. Grey figured that telling someone else you were going to be an auror had to be difficult, in a way. They were the law of the land, and not all of them always came away from the job unscathed. A life of dedication to protecting the people was, at least how Grey viewed it, a selfless act. “Thanks.” He muttered quietly. It was kind of scary thinking that soon he’d be graduating and moving towards his goal, so the more people he told about it, the more real it was becoming. To say he was nervous about it was an understatement. “I’m not sure if damsel in distress quite works for you Lily,” Grey said laughing loudly. “But we’ll manage if someone finds us.”It was probably impossible to see in the darkness, but Grey smiled when Lily said school sucked. Wasn’t that the truth. The two of them had always managed to skip class around the same time as each other, despite the year gap. That tended to be a decent way to bond with someone else. He listened quietly as Lily rambled on about what she had been up to since the start of term, her hand patting him on the head as she talked. “As long as little old me isn’t forgotten.” He chuckled quietly. These days, disappearing from sight was starting to sound rather enticing to Grey. While it would solve all of his problems in an instant, running away was cowardly, and he wasn’t a coward. At least he didn’t think he was. That was probably still open for debate depending on who was asked. Lily continued complaining about not moving around again and this time leaned over his shoulder, most likely unknowingly throwing all of her weight in front of Grey. Dead body or not, he stumbled but managed to catch himself in time. Slightly frustrated, he let out a low growl. “Please don’t do that again. I’m strong, but not that strong.” He didn’t mean for it to come out as angry sounding as it did, but it was too late to take it back now. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lily nodded at his thanks even though he couldn't see her clearly. Then he said that damsel in distress didn't work so well for her and she gasped in faux offense. "You don't think I'm capable, Grey? I'll have you know I'm a great actress, sir," she said this in a dramatic hoity toity voice. She giggled soon after, "I can be an angry damsel in distress. Easy. 'I wanted to walk myself but this prat had to be a hero'," she laughed again.
Lily scrunched her nose, "ooh, I won't forget you. I'll still tackle you when I get the chance!" she promised. She tackled most people but she didn't always go that route. Her style of approach was swoop in and get them fast, and sometimes doing this silently was a good tactic.
She laughed as he stumbled and even as he growled. He spoke, clearly slightly frustrated. "Naaah, I can walk now," she said, leaning around to quickly kiss his cheek once before dismounting. She spun around when she hit the ground, ending up in front of him and walking backwards. "See? My broken... foot, whatever, is magically healed! Now if we get caught you can more than just a hero, we can say you healed my wounds!" she laughed again, winking.

The Monsters walk among us He didn’t doubt that Lily had some kind of acting abilities; she was crazy after all. At least that was how Grey liked to think of her. Where he severely lacked in energy and drive to do most things that weren’t conducive to his newspaper or passing classes, it seemed like Lily had it locked down. To be able to so effectively slack off and yet have fun all at the same was a unique ability. He wasn’t sure what her grades were like, but every time he happened to skip a class, there was Lily, running around like a mad woman doing her thing. It was admirable that she seemed like she didn’t have a care in the world, or at least acted like she didn’t. Grey had always aspired to be that way but ended up coming across as crass and blunt. It just wasn’t his cup of tea apparently. “Alright, alright, I guess you can be a damsel if you want…” Grey got out between laughs. “…but I’m definitely not a hero.” Nor did he want to be one. He didn’t want the recognition that came along with helping others. Even though Lily was only joking about it, there was a harsh bit of reality where it was all too true for Grey sometimes. Other times, trying to be the hero made things worse. Like with his sister. Snapping out of the depressing funk he slipped into for a few brief moments, Grey laughed again when Lily said she’d tackle him still. There was something about hyperactive people always trying to jump him like he had a target on his back. Rai had always been that way with him, and as far as he could tell, Lily had been as well. There was no doubt that those two would have been friends, if they weren’t already. “Tackle away. Might not seem like it, but I need a little excitement in my life from time to time.” But not too much though. He still needed enough down time to stick to his lazy nature. Too much excitement and action led to high expectations, and the last thing he needed was to get his hopes up over something. Even though he had been grumbly about the whole flipping over his shoulder thing, Grey hadn’t intended Lily to actually hop off of his back, but she did nonetheless. Now he felt bad about the whole thing. He didn’t have long to think about that though because Lily had swooped over his shoulder one final time before hopping off, this time kissing him on the cheek. Grey wasn’t sure what to think of that. Shock was one of the first things that reacted in his head, but at the same time, he knew there was no rhyme or reason for Lily’s actions. Life was a game to her, sometimes fun, other times teasing people, but most definitely never serious. “I already told you, I’m not a hero. Save that for the real deal.” He said after a second or two of silence. He grinned as Lily danced around in front of him. “I’ve been known to fix a few broken bones here and there, so I can believe it.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lily giggled and squealed happily, "I've never been a damsel before, Grey! You're so kind," she laughed along with him still. He said he wasn't a hero and she pouted, but she didn't comment on that. "“Tackle away. Might not seem like it, but I need a little excitement in my life from time to time.” At these words, Lily laughed even louder. "I will gladly assist in that regard!" she declared. After all, wasn't that was she was doing right now?
"Pshhhh you're a hero to me, kid," she reached forward to punch his arm and laughed again. He was most certainly not a kid. But, alas, this is Lily we're talking about. She rarely thinks before she speaks. "See!? A Healing Hero. We'll call you Clean Slate," that caused a rather loud laugh to come out of her. Enough that she realized that maybe she didn't want to actually get Grey in trouble by being so loud. She hunched her shoulders and brought a finger to her lips, "sshh," she said, moving instead to walk beside Grey, linking her arm through his. Her voice dropped to a whisper, "geez, Grey. You trying to attract an auror or something?" she snickered, wrinkling her nose at him.

The Monsters walk among us “Never?” Grey said, trying to sound shocked when Lily stated she had never been a damsel before. She was the straight-forward go-getter type. Probably didn’t need help too often when she was put in dangerous situations. So it made sense. Grey liked to think that he was the same way, but he knew that wasn’t the case. He screwed up a lot more than he was willing to admit to others. He was just really good at covering up mistakes or making it seem like he did things on purpose. The newspaper had taught him some very valuable lessons that was for sure. “I wouldn’t say I’m kind, just acknowledging that you for what you are milady.” He had found out a long time ago that it was better to play along with whatever Lily was doing. Her swinging around on his back earlier was a good example. Had he given in and not complained too much about it, then she probably would have been a little more civil and not bounced around too much. But he had, and that was all a part of her game. He had a hard time stifling a laugh when she called him a kid. What was she on about? And then she followed it up with a pun of his name. Merlin’s beard he’d heard a lot of those back in the day. This one though? He wasn’t quite sure where she got the “clean” from, probably a joke he wasn’t understanding. It also wasn’t worth asking her to stop calling him a hero. For whatever reason that was really bugging him, and he couldn’t figure out why that was. Hero should be reserved for only the most important of people. Being a hero was too big of a title for him. Grey Slater was just a knight among many, if that. Lily’s loud laugh snapped him out of his thoughts again. He watched her silently as she pretended to want him to be quiet, and then linked her arm around his again, asking him if he wanted to attract an auror. “I don’t know, maybe I do.” He answered, smirking back at her. “Be careful what you wish for.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

"Never?" he said in a mock shocked voice. She just nodded, continuing to play along. He then made the comment about acknowledging her for what she was and she scrunched her nose for a moment before slipping back into the faux sweet voice. "Alas, this is a rare situation indeed. Usually I'm the one doing the saving," she giggled, "you should know that by now, silly!" she lifted a finger to tap the tip of nose.
She could tell she was making him laugh, and that made her just want to go on. She thrived with or without an audience, though. It was just nice to have someone to play off of but she never necessarily needed validation. When he countered her comment about wanting to attract and auror and her eyes narrowed, "what, little ol' Lily not good enough for you?" she countered, un-narrowing her gaze and instead donning a pout, making her eyes as big as possible.

The Monsters walk among us The little play continued as Lily commented that it was a rare situation that she was the one being saved, instead of doing the saving. He laughed rather loudly and then she tapped his nose again. He should know by now, she had managed to get both of them out of quite a few sticky situations before, mostly because he was too lazy to care that they could get in trouble. “Very true. I play a pretty great damsel, if I may say so myself.” He tried to hold back a laugh again. There were definitely a few times where he had been saved by others. Again, mostly because he didn’t really care about being punished. Detention was just a quieter space to get work done and keep him awake at the same time. It was a relatively decent strategy if he really needed to sit down and pay attention without getting distracted by naps or walking around the grounds and not doing anything. “I think my debt is paid off now, for all those years of you saving me. It was a pleasure doing business with you.” Grey bowed towards Lily as he continued to walk. He grinned as his comment about the attracting an auror clearly got the better of Lily’s curiosity. He knew that both of them would prefer not to be caught, but it would be fun nonetheless. “Hmm…let me think about that.” Placing one hand on his chin, he made it look like he was deep in thought. Grey didn’t actually know what he wanted to say. If he could get something that would cause a rise out of her, it would be pretty funny. They were getting rather close to the castle now though, so maybe that wasn’t the best idea. “I guess you’ll do for now. You are rather short though. The one bonus is that it’s easy to carry you around. I’ll give you that!”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lily laughed, "you are one of the best damsels I've had the pleasure of saving," she agreed. She saw that face he was making, that holding back a laugh face. Lily didn't understand why people did that. What was the point? If the laugh was going to come then it should come out. She didn't believe in stifling anything, didn't believe in taming. Then he spoke about his debt being paid off and she grinned and bowed back, "a pleasure indeed." They kept walking and Lily kept on with that big grin of hers.
He paused to 'think' about the whole getting caught situation and Lily laughed as he placed a hand on his chin. Then he said she'd do for now and her jaw dropped slightly. Short!? Her eyes narrowed but her smile was still in tact, "like you could do better than me, Grey Slater," she joked, her nose scrunching in amusement. "And fine. Then carry me the rest of the way?" she suggested, half joking, half not.
