H ow young? Geez she was asking tough questions. He hadn’t really had time to completely observe the dragon yet. The good thing though, was that it was relatively easy to tell just by looking at claw growth and the colorings of the scales, at least with these breed of dragon. Some of them differed of course, as did all other creatures that were separated geographically. Tilting his head as he walked around to the front of the sleeping beast, Charlie looked at the details on the scales, and then measured one of the claws using his arm. Standing back up from the claw, he looked back over at Lily, smiling. “I’d say around ten years old. He’s pretty big already, but you can tell from this pattern…” Charlie put his hand up against one of the scales, brushing over it to show Lily what he was talking about, “…that it still hasn’t matured completely. Another five years and it will probably be fully grown.” He waited a few seconds to let Lily process the fact that the giant thing in front of them was going to be even bigger in a really short amount of time. “After that though, he’ll probably stay the same size for the rest of his life. Males can get bigger sometimes, but it’s really uncommon.”
Charlie tried to ignore the fact that Lily just compared herself to female dragons. She hadn’t even been a thought yet the last time he saw a female be really territorial. If that was the way it made sense to her though, he’d have to let her have her fun with it. While he was able to hold back a laugh from her sly comment, the follow up got him. Letting out an innocent laugh at her response to all females being aggressive, he nodded his head in agreement. Luckily that never happened too much in his household, as far as he could tell. As Lily asked him what the plan with the dragon was. Scratching his neck, he realized he wasn’t really sure. “Is this one going to Romania after we leave?” He said, turning to one of his coworkers. The nod from them confirmed it. “This lucky guy gets to go play with the rest of the dragons we have. Maybe find a girlfriend there too.”

Lily followed her uncle as he moved toward the font of the beast, assessing it. She stayed a few feet behind, not wanting to get in the way. Soon, he looked back over at her and guessed that the dragon was around ten years old, pointing out a pattern. She rushed toward him, maybe faster then she should have, in order to get a better view of what he was pointing out. She nodded vigorously, grinning. "So, it's going to get bigger!?'" she deducted happily, practically squealing. She nodded as he said that he would stay the same size the rest of his life. "So, females grow even more?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. That wouldn't be surprising, females were always the more advanced of the sexes in Lily's opinion.
Charlie let out a laugh and Lily raised both eyebrows at him in a goofy gesture. He nodded, obviously understanding. The women in their family were a good indication of that. At her question about the dragon, her uncle turned toward his coworkers to ask about Romania. She nodded, then laughed at the mention of a girlfriend, "oh, well, I'm sure he'll learn about that aggressiveness we talked about fairly soon, then!"

L ily’s continuous surprise about information concerning dragons was amusing. He had figured school would have covered at least basic knowledge on dragons at this point, but maybe he was mistaken by that. After a few rash incidents on Hagrid’s part years ago, the kinds of magical creatures allowed to show during class had become minimal in numbers. Not that having a dragon on school grounds would ever be conducive to learning in the first place. If kids these days wanted to see dragons, all they had to do was get in contact with him or one of his co-workers. Simple as that.
“It will. By quite a bit too.” And then she followed up with the question about females. Did they get bigger than males? They were everything that a male dragon wasn’t. Unpredictable, dangerous, and deadly. Unfortunately they had to deal with the females more often than the males since they tended to be unruly in motherhood. “Yeah, they become giant. It’s kind of hard to compare a fully grown female to this one though, since he’s still too small to gauge how big he’ll end up being.” Laughing again at Lily’s comment about the poor dragon here coming into contact with female aggressiveness soon, Charlie realized that it was more than true. They were going to drop this poor fellow off in Romania where the majority of females were ready to look for a mate. He wouldn’t stand a chance at first, especially since he was so small still. “He’ll have to learn fast to survive.” Looking at his coworkers to get a silent nod of approval, Charlie turned back to his niece. “So, since this guy is out cold still, we think its fine to do this.” Motioning towards the dragon’s neck, he continued. “Let me know if you need help climbing up. Some of the scales are hard to get a grip on.”

Lily didn't pay attention in class. At least not enough to remember things. Comeonson.
She grinned as he spoke about how the females would become giant, and how it was hard to compare considering this one was so young and small. She shrugged, "well, I can't say I'm surprised. Females were meant to dominate," she said this in a completely serious tone, not caring how it sounded. It was really was she believed, so, it was said as a fact.
She loved that her uncle laughed, though, at the way she was. She was always happy to make people smile, even if it was at the expense of the silly things she said sometimes. "Understood," she said with a mischievous grin as he mentioned how the dragon would have to learn fast to survive. Didn't all males have to around women? Especially around Lily?
He moved forward then, motioning to the dragons neck and... suggesting they climb onto it!? She squealed but quickly quieted, putting a hand on her uncles arm. "Sorry, shh," she reminded herself. "I don't need help," she said as she started to climb. Okay, okay. It was a LITTLE difficult.

T he quite serious comment about females dominating sent a wave of giggles through the other dragonologists, most of whom were quite young. Charlie shot daggers at them. They quickly stopped their silent laughter and tried to become serious again, but to no avail. Sighing, he turned back to watch Lily start her way up the dragon. The majority of the dragonologists here with them were in their 20s and 30s still. He had been doing this before most of them were even a thought yet. That was the only time he was actually serious while doing the job; when it meant he had to be the adult and authority figure, the boss man. The others didn’t like that, since they were all usually fairly causal with each other. The look he gave them was returned in exactly the same manner, eliciting a small chuckle from Charlie. He couldn’t take any of them seriously. It was too hard to do.
Charlie watched Lily struggle to climb up the neck of the dragon. A small puff of smoke and flame popped out from its nose, prompting the closet dragonologist to jump backwards as his clothes caught on fire for a split-second. Hopefully Lily missed that one, or she’d literally be on the ground laughing at it. The others could barely contain their laughter from it. Shaking his head at them, he looked back up to see Lily’s progress. “Sure you don’t need any? That last push is a tough one. Just grab right there behind the scale.” Charlie waved his hand around towards the one he was talking about. He did know the easiest way to climb a dragon after all, he had done it on more than one occasion.

Okay there was a little smoke and flame which started her but she was fine. She didn't pay attention to the worker who had to back up, of course. She didn't actually even notice they were there. She didn't react other than jumping a little bit. Then her uncle Charlie called up to her talking about the last push onto the dragon and she grabbed where he said, but still shot a glare down to him for offering to help when she clearly had it covered.
She heaved herself up, careful not to pull too hard on the scales because she didn't want to cause any pain or anything... granted, dragons were incredibly strong so she really had nothing to worry about. "I did it!" she said, a little too loudly, before she sat down and covered her mouth with both hands. Her eyes widened as she looked at Charlie.

C learly he had spoken too soon, at least he thought he had from the look Lily gave him after his instructions on how to climb up the dragon. He figured she’d find a way without his help, but he had decided to give it nonetheless. Apparently it wasn’t needed though and Lily was on the dragon’s neck in a matter of seconds. That was rather impressive, if he had to say so himself. Then again, she was an agile teenager. Most of his coworkers, himself included, were far older and had definitely seen better days. Working their way up the side was increasingly more difficult as one got older. Charlie fondly remembered the days where he could easily hop right up on the dragon like his niece just had. Her shout of accomplishment snapped Charlie out of his reminiscing, and he looked up to see Lily covering her mouth. Clapping quietly, he tried not to laugh. It was rather funny, seeing the tiny redheaded girl sitting atop a dragon.
“…and that’s pretty much all I can tell you about this dragon. You’ll have to become a dragonologist if you want to know more.” It had been a few hours since they first arrived at the field, and Charlie was notified by his coworkers that it was time to wake the beast up. That was something Lily didn’t need to be there for, seeing as waking a dragon could be unpredictable. Turning to his niece, he smiled. “Time to take you home. This big guy needs to go back too.”

Lily contemplated the dragonolist thing he mentioned... it was an interesting thought, one she may need to entertain. He said it was time to go, though, and she frowned, but it didn't last. She got one last look at the dragon before smiling over at her uncle, "thanks for this, Uncle Charlie!" she lifted onto her toes, through her arms around his neck, and gave him a big kiss on the cheek.
Soon, she was back home, laying on her bed and staring up at her ceiling. Dragonology just seemed so... limited. She was interested in so many more things than just them! Well, it was easier to not focus on just one thing for Lily Potter. But, she had a feeling she'd be looking for more dragons in the future.
(THE END FINALLY LAWD XD)
