Irina smiled as he held her close and leaned her head back to rest against him. “That works too,” she agreed, closing her eyes just for a moment. Opening them again, she pointed as the sun began to set behind the mountains. “It’s beautiful,” she whispered. It was a picture-perfect moment, Dan holding her as they watched the sunset. It sounded like something out of one of those Muggle cheesy romantic comedies, but to her it felt just right. She knew they’d have to leave the tree sometime, but the sun wouldn’t completely disappear for a while yet. She felt happy, happier than she ever remembered feeling, but also at peace. Everything about right here, right now felt perfectly aligned. She had Dan and Dan had her, and that was all that mattered in the world.
And nothing was going to stop them now.

Dan didn't speak again until they were on their way back to the castle some time later. While they sat under the tree at the edge of the lake, however, Dan didn't attempt to ignore her emotions flowing into him. It was like... like drinking hot choco, cider or butterbeer. It was that feeling of warmth rushing through your entire body starting from the inside until it warmed your extremities. He stayed close to her, not moving away for even a second.
As great as it was, he was partially horrified by the entire situation. By the fact that this was really happening to him, and with his best friends sister. That he was feelings things he didn't understand, that he had never imagined being able to understand. He couldn't believe that he was actually okay with being this close to someone. The more he thought about it, though, the more he wanted to pull away. Habit, force of nature, whatever you want to call it. So, eventually they did have to go, and he would be lying if he told himself it wasn't partially because of that.
Irina Rose Krum (ending on a sour note sucker. THE END)
