dear cristina,
Hello! I've never really had a pen pal before, but after Susan said that I could write you, I decided it would be a good distraction from the drudgery of day-to-day things. My school is hosting a huge Tournament for international students - it's a shame Castelobruxo doesn't compete. I would love to meet you. I entered the Tournament, of course. I, uh, hope you're well.
sincerely, cecelia rousseau

Cecelia. Susan has spoken quite highly of you, Cecelia. I'm glad you decided to write.
I've heard about the tournament. Isn't that when the most prominent schools in Europe compete against each other? Isn't it dangerous? I hope, if you're chosen, you will be safe.
How is Hogwarts? You are in your final year? What are you wanting to do after graduation?
Sincerely, Christina
@cecelia

dear cristina,
I’m surprised she’s said anything about me at all, to be honest. I think I make her uncomfortable, though I can’t imagine why.
Yes, the tournament is where all of the European schools compete against each other. It’s supposedly quite dangerous, but no one’s died in the past two iterations, so I figure I’m somewhat safe. I don’t particularly need to be safe; you’ll come to understand eventually that my life is worth little anymore.
Hogwarts is fine, I suppose. No one seems to like me much, but I brought that down on myself. I don’t know what I’m doing after school ends. I’m going to talk with my sister and see what she thinks; it’s as much her choice as it is mine. What about you – have you chosen what career you want to pursue?
sincerely, cecelia rousseau

Cecelia, I'm sorry for such a late response, classes have been keeping us quite busy here. But every life is precious. I don't know what happened to you, but we've heard some news in Brazil about what is happening in Europe. It sounds awful, but it won't always be bad. It'll straighten out someday.
Shouldn't you do what you want, rather then what your family wants? As for me, I've been considering Wand Lore. It's quite fascinating, and I've always liked challenges. Not only that, you can learn a lot about a person from their wands. I'm not very good at reading wands, but I'll get the hang of it someday I imagine. What sort of things do you like to do? Anything that you could turn into a career?
Sincerely, Christina
@cecelia (In reality, Bay kept freaking out every time she thought about Desirae, and trying to make sure her handwritting didn't shake when she was writing.)

dear cristina,
It’s alright – I assumed that your owl just got caught up with weather or something. An ocean is a long way for an owl to travel and everything. I’m sure whatever news you’ve received has been accurate, if you think it’s awful. I think that things in general will straighten out, but I’m not sure that my life, personally, will. I guess it’s enough just to hope for things to get better for everyone else. I made a deal with the devil, and now I'm paying for it. What my family wants is what I want. There’s not a way around that. The only thing that I really enjoy anymore is Astronomy, and I doubt that I’ll be able to find a job where they pay me to look at the sky. Besides, I don’t think the Astronomy teacher at my school is fond of me, due to…well, my family ties. So I don’t think she’d recommend me for anything, either. sincerely, cecelia

@cecelia The owls do like to get lost in storms. Not only that, they are traveling half way around the world. It's not uncommon for letters to never arrive. Hopefully this one makes it. Word of the first task reached us here. So Hogwarts took first place? That must be exciting! The champion, she's in your house isn't she? I might be wrong, so if I am, forgive me. But I imagine you and all the other students must be excited that your school is taking to lead so early. Hopefully the champion can keep that momentum.
I think you can hope that life for you, and everyone, will get better. Someone once told me that we need to follow our heart. Do what makes us happy, and not what other people want. We have dreams and wants for a reason, and we need to listen to that. Everyone deserves happiness, and you'll find it by being yourself and doing what you love. I'm sure there are quite a few jobs that would appreciate your love for Astronomy. Why not talk to some of the teachers and see what they say. Surely they know a few options.
Sincerly, Christina

dear cristina,
Hogwarts took second place. The champion is in my house, but I can’t claim to know her all that well. I’m not sure whether or not I’ve mentioned this, but I’m not exactly well-liked in my house. I’m a prefect, so there are some people who resent that authority, and then the other prefect and I aren’t on good terms with each other, so his friends don’t really speak to me. Even if Beauxbatons wins, I used to go to school there, so I can claim that victory as my own on some level.
I don’t think life will get better any time soon. I don’t get the chance to follow my heart – it didn’t exactly end up well for my twin sister, and I’m not delusional enough to believe that I’m any different than her. I’m certainly a poorer version, of course, but – well, it’s complicated. It’s very complicated. And if there are any people who don’t deserve happiness, I’m certainly on that list. I’m a bad person, I’m sure Susan’s told you that much. And bad people don’t deserve good things, right? As for professors, I don’t know how many times I have to say this, but they don’t like me. My elder sister’s a wanted fugitive, and that doesn’t reflect well on me. sincerely, cecelia
