Susan was trying not to cry. She had in her hands information on the scourge of the Earth that had been responsible for her fathers death. For years, she had had a feeling her mother had hired a Private Investigator to track down these fiends, and just at the beginning of the summer during the short time Susan was home, they had found a lead. Finally, a possibility of answers. While her brother and mother did not know this, she had made copies of the files and whisked them away with her to Hogwarts.
Today was the day she had picked to finally read them, for the announcement of the Yule Ball and looking for a date had brought up memories of dancing lessons with her father. She remembered it clear as day; dancing on his feet as he twirled her around, him making faces at the dance instructor as she reprimanded them, feeling the warmth of his hands around her tiny waist as he led her gently across the floor. God, she missed him. Before she knew it, the tears were falling from her eyes and dripping onto the paper. Susan hid her face in her hands and quietly sobbed to herself, unaware of anything but her own memories.

Andy slammed the book shut, realizing she hadn't even finished her sentence to Phil, but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered anymore. It had been a week and two days since he wrote and she made him wait all that time. What kind of girlfriend was she? What kind of monster? She tossed the book aside, feeling that familiar sinking sensation when she was going catatonic. The smart thing would be to go to Parvati, but she wouldn't do that. Instead, she forced herself to stand and leave her bed, letting her feet just guide her.
They stumbled into the library and she nodded. This was a good idea. Studying could make her put her mind to something so it didn't shut down. She started to browse the shelves, getting lost in the dark corners. That's when she heard it. A very faint, very soft cry. Andy recognized that voice and she felt h her stomach sink. She'd fought Nik for herself and Desi for Bay but... Who was fighting for Susan?
She turned the corner and found her there, hiding her face. Andy moved to her side and placed s hand gently on her knee. "Hey, Susan... What's wrong?" her voice was soft and her mind became clearer. Helping people made her feel better. She needed to remember that.

Susan lifted her head out of her hands, and began to wipe her eyes when she saw it was just Andy. Andy had seen her looking far worse before; the girl wouldn’t care if Susan had tear tracks streaked down her face, just why they were there. “Just being silly,” she said, sniffling as she folded her hands over the folder. “The Yule Ball just has me thinking about my Dad, and how he’d take me to my dancing lessons. He was just the most wonderful man in the entire universe Andy; I wish you had gotten a chance to meet him,” she whispered, her hands curling into fists unconsciously. She hated that her father was taken away from her before he got to learn she was a witch; he would have been so supportive, she knew he would have. “I found out my mum hired a Private Investigator to look into things a few years ago,” she said, sounding hesitant. She knew Andy had been down lately, and she didn’t want to burden her friend with her own problems of the past. “She wanted answers; who killed my father, and why they did it,” she added, looking down at her fists, and gently releasing the pressure of her fingernails in her palms.

Susan wiped her eyes and Andy's heart ached. Andy shook her head as Susan claimed she was 'just being silly'. She didn't believe that for a second. She spoke of her dad, their dance lessons, and how she wished Andy could have met him. Andy nodded, keeping her hand on Susan as the Ravenclaws hands curled into fists. She mentioned the P.I. her mother hired and Andy raised an eyebrow, interested now in a different way... answers on who killed her father and why... now that was useful information. Andy waited a moment to make sure Susan had stopped speaking before talking softly, "I'm sure it's a hard time for you, Su," she said, patting Susan gently. "Is that the information from the Investigator?" she asked, "your mum let you take it?"@susanvictoria

Susan blinked and looked down at the folder in front of her. “It is the information on the people they believe, and they emphasize the believe part, had a part in murdering my father,” she told her, slowly opening the folder. She hesitated, then pushed the papers towards Andromeda. “My mother doesn’t know i took it; I made a copy when she left her study unlocked one night before I moved to the Leaky Cauldron for the summer. Will doesn’t know I have this either; it’s been hard keeping it to myself,” she told her, then gave her a small smile. “I guess it’s a bit of a relief, sharing this with you. I can’t bring myself to show it to Ed,” she said quietly. She watched her friend as she read the files, clasping her hands in front of her. Andy had been a bit...distant this year so far, but Susan had attributed it to missing Phil and keeping Bay’s existence a secret. Still, she had missed her best friend, both of them.

So, the possible Windsor Assassins were in that folder. Well, the information on them was. Andy nodded, then looked down as the papers were pushed toward her. Andy bit her lip, reached out to take them, and turned them to face her. She knew what would happen if she read them. She could already feel the gears turning in her mind. She lokoed up at Susan as she spoke about taking the papers from her mother. Andy nodded, "I can understand why you wanted them, Su," she said with her own small smile. She reached her hand over to touch Susans arm again, "you can share anything with me. I'm afraid Edmund would be... a bit angrier than you are. At lest outwardly. Maybe it is best that he's kept in the dark til it's certain," she suggested. Then she pulled her hand back and her eyes went back to the papers.
Two names. Possible addresses. The date of their trial, December 3rd. That was pretty far from now...

Susan nodded and smiled at her friend. “Thank you for understanding,” she said quietly. “I figure my mother would tell me before their trials, perhaps the day before the press gets wind of them. But I also could see her trying to shield us from it. She still believes we come of age at eighteen, and that’s not until February for me. But here in the Wizarding World I am considered an adult, and I feel I have the right to know this,” she said, anger rising in her voice. “They should consider themselves lucky we will still be in school and I cannot attend the trial. I don’t know what I would do if I saw them in person, though I know what I’d like to do,” she said, then stopped; she was sounding downright animalistic and it frightened her. She looked over at Andy. “Please promise you won’t breathe a word of this conversation to anyone,” she whispered, her eyes wide.

Andy frowned at Susans talk about what her mother would and wouldn't do. The woman seemed incredibly protective, which was good but could also be a hindrance. Andy understood protectiveness being dangerous. Heck, she was feeling protective over Susan right now and thinking dangerous thoughts, so that was proof, wasn't it? Susan's voice was rising slightly, and Andy understood why. There was anger there. Andy knew anger. Then Susan spoke of not knowing what she'd do at the sight of them. And the fact that she knew what she wanted to do. Andy nodded, then Susan asked her to promise not to talk about this to anyone and Andy smiled softly, "of course not, Susan. This is between you and me," she said soothingly. "I understand how you're feeling. Promise. It's hard not to follow those scary impulses," oh boy, did she knew that was true. "You don't worry about it, though. They'll get what's coming to them," she added firmly.

Susan breathed a sigh of relief when Andy promised not to breathe a word of this conversation between them. She knew Andy would probably not have said anything regardless, however to hear the confirmation was comforting. "Thanks And," she said with a small smile. "It is hard to not follow those impulses, but then I think of what I have to live for. I have you, my family, I have Sander and....." her smile widened as she thought of Casey. "I've been er, corresponding with Casey Finnegan since he fixed my wrist up this summer. It's gotten quite flirtatious; I'm surprising myself at how bold I can be in writing," she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "He wants to meet up with me next Hogsmeade visit, he says he has some sort of surprise planned," she added happily. "And just think, if this actually goes somewhere, you and Phil can double date with us in the New Year!" she exclaimed.

there was one thing Andy was good at, it was keeping secrets. She had proved that many times. Andy nodded at Susan as she thanked her. Susan spoke as to how it was hard not to follow impulses, and how thinking of what she had to live for brought her back from those dark thoughts... Andy had tried that, once or twice, and it still didn't work. In fact, thinking of her loved ones did just the opposite. Her brain was incredibly wired wrong right now. Susan didn't finish her last thought and Andy cocked her head to the side. Then the explanation came out and Andy smiled. Then she mentioned a 'double date' and Andy nodded, though her heart sunk. "That would be great. Caseys a nice guy. From what I've seen," of course she knew Casey, he was their Head Boy and a Gryffindor last year. "I'm interested to hear how things go in Hogsmede," but she wouldn't be staying for the whole trip, sadly, so she couldn't stalk them like a good friend.

Susans’ smile faltered slightly as she saw something flicker in Andy’s eyes. “Hey. Phil will come back, you know that,” she told her reassuringly. In fact, Susan knew exactly when and where Phil was coming back, for Phil had written to her asking for her help in surprising Andromeda at the Yule Ball. Susan had found the whole thing quite romantic and was eager to help her best friend however she could. “I will give you all the details, I promise. Do you want to have lunch together in the Great Hall the next day? I will not spare any details unless you ask me to,” she said with a small giggle. Feeling better at the prospect of gossiping with Andromeda about her date with Casey, Susan stood up, rubbing her eyes. “I better go and shower, I feel like a bit of a mess right now,” she said with a chuckle, looking down at herself. “Can...can you help ahold of those documents for me? I keep pulling them out and staring at them, but I trust you’ll be able to keep them safe for me,” she asked her friend, looking at her hopefully.

Andy nodded as Susan reassured her about Phil coming back, but she didn't say anything on the subject. She was happy for the subject change to Casey, for it gave Susan something happy to think about. "I would love to," Andy agreed as Susan offered to meet for lunch in the Great Hall. It would be nice to have that to look forward to.
Then, Susan asked Andy to watch the documents for her and Andy's eyes fell back to them before she nodded, then flickered her gaze back to Susan. "You can trust me with them, Su," she said softly, her smile gracious and she moved to stand, reaching a hand out to take Susan's. "Let me walk you back," she offered softly.
