Making a difference, That was a popular reason, but it wasn't Andy's. She understood what Anna meant, though, and nodded as she continued. "That makes perfect sense," she said. "You want to be a protector of the innocent and a preventor of evil. I think that's brave," she commented, reaching out to gently touch Anna's arm. "You're a good person, Anna. And good people need to be aurors so they don't get lost in their own petty problems and take advantage of their jobs. That's what I'd do," she admitted, "I'd just want to hutn anyone down who hurt me or my family," she turned away from Anna again, to look back at the path in front of them, and brought her hand back, "I would crush them all."

Anna nodded when Andy put her reason into perspective. Yeah, that was a good way to word it. She wanted to help people, make sure that others were safe. If she was able, why shouldn't she help them? She jumped slightly, pulled back to the conversation when Andy touched her arm gently. Anna focused back on her friend with a smile. "Thanks," she said softly when Andy said she was a good person. Then Andy continued on about how she would be one to get lost in her problems and hunt down those who hurt her or her family. Anna heard every word and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Is everything ok Andy?" she asked, now reaching her hand out, even though Andy had pulled back. "You seem ... what's going on?" Something was definitely different about her friend and Anna didn't exactly know how to respond to it. Andy was more passionate than she'd been in a while, but it also seemed a little dark and Anna was concerned.

Oh. Andy cleared her throat as Anna asked her if everything was okay and so on. Andy didn't look at Anna right away but instead took a deep breath, eyes straight ahead. "I just... am protective," she said, hoping that maybe that was enough cover. She forced a smile, turning back to Anna, "I'm fine. I think just worried. About Phil, you, the others... maybe my 'Gryffindor bravery'" she raised her fingers to do the quotation marks, "gets out of hand sometimes. But don't worry," she dropped a hand to take Annas, "everything will be fine."

Anna listened carefully as Andy said that she was just protective and worried about Phil and everyone. She smiled in return, though her eyebrows were still furrowed with concern. Was something wrong with Andy that she didn't know about? Anna couldn't imagine that being the problem. Honestly, they were together every day, when they went to bed if not during the rest of the day. Surely Andy was fine. Still, Anna decided she needed to pay more attention to her friend. "You do know that if you ever need to talk to someone- you know, get the worries off your chest- you can come to me, right? I'm here for you, just like you're here for me." Anna hoped that Andy could sense the sincerity in her offer. She really meant it. They'd only gotten close over the last year, but Andy meant a lot to Anna and she wanted to make sure her friend was good- especially because Phil wasn't here right now.

Anna offered her help, of course. "I know Anna Banana," she said, slightly teasing. She was trying to lighten the mood a bit. Trying to feign innocence... she cleared her throat, continuing to walk. "Don't worry, Anna. We're good. We need to worry about you and this tournament. We'll work it out," she encouraged, but she was acting awkward now.
She shook her head and cleared her throat again, "I'm fine," she repeated.

Anna wasn't sure if she completely believed her friend's assurances that things were fine, but she wasn't going to push it right now. For one thing, in the short time since she'd actually gotten to know Andy, she got to know her well and Andy did not respond well to being pushed into things. Also, Anna sensed that something actually was wrong. She knew she couldn't convince Andy to say anything she didn't want to, but Anna could be as encouraging as possible. "Good," she said, smiling back at her friend. "Just wanted to make sure you did." Then she brought up the tournament and Anna didn't know quite what to say. How was she supposed to respond to that? "I wouldn't say you need to worry about me, but I'll take all the help I can get," she teased, taking her chance to lighten the mood now.
At her insistence that she was fine, Anna let go of Andy's hand and wrapped her arm around Andy's shoulders in an awkward side hug. "I believe you. Just come talk to me if you ever need it," she repeated. She knew something wasn't right, but all she could do was tell Andy that she was there for her.

Anna didn't believe her, that was obvious. Still, Andy was glad that she didn't push it. "Hah, help is always ehere for you," Andy repeated, laughing lightly. Then Andy let Anna wrap her arm around her shoulders and Andy caught her waist hugging her back, "I will, Anna. I will," but really, she wouldn't. Or couldn't right now. Some day Anna would be there though when Andy lost control and Andy would tell her everything she knew that. She knew that more than anything.
"Come on," Andy encouraged, continuing their steps.

As much as it had already been said, Anna appreciated Andy's offer of help. She felt like she got those offers from tons of people, but only a few actually meant it. Andy was one of those few. "Thanks." She was a little surprised when Andy hugged her back; she knew Andy wasn't a big hugging person, but she would take what she could get. Anna wasn't quite sure if she believed Andy's promise that she'd come and talk to her if she needed it, but at least it was out there. At least Anna offered and maybe Andy would remember that sometime when she needed it.
Anna laughed when Andy urged her to keep on moving. "Where are we going?" she asked curiously. She'd been so caught up in their conversation that she honestly had no idea where the two of them were headed.

"Nowhere," Andy replied, picking up her pace, "just need my feet to keep moving. Isn't it nice, though? Not really having a destination?" she turned to Anna again and raised an eyebrow, her mouth forming a tiny smile. It was nice, to just walk. She didn't get enough of that. Of just doing things for the sake of enjoying herself and not for any other reason. She and Anna both needed that in their lives. They both needed to take the time to not think so much.
"In fact," Andy said, "let's run." She picked up her pace even more, taking at a run now.

Anna grinned, surprised at how much Andy was lifting the mood. "It is nice, actually. I haven't walked without a destination in a while." She made a face at Andy, teasing her. It was nice. Anna hadn't really taken time to just relax and walk around in a while. Doing it with a friend was even better! Then Andy started running and Anna laughed, following her friend's lead. "Lead the way!" She called, giggling. ---end--- @lestrange
