Janae had finally been able to complete her charm for her music. It didn't seem to be working. Sitting in the Hufflepuff common room she was rereading how the charm should work. She closed her eyes and focused on the music coming from her headphones. Opening her eyes hopefully she noticed nothing had changed. The colors and images stayed inside her mind. Frustrated she yanked her headphones off. Just then the door sqeaked open making Janae jump. She had been much to jumpy lately. She really needed to figure out how to calm her nerves. In walked a girl named Lia, a sixth year Hufflepuff that Janae had noticed lately. She had noticed that Lia was really into photography and Janae really liked her work. This is someone she had really wanted to talk to. "Hey Lia!" Janae jumped up moving over to her. "I have a question for you." Janae smiled hopefully. cordelia regan smith

▲ Today had been tough. Cordelia had been hoping to avoid being called on in class, yet once again it seemed like the professor had it out for her and did it anyways. It was like they were worried she wasn’t paying attention or something. Just because she wanted to sit in the back of the room and tried to make herself as inconspicuous as possible didn’t mean that she was ignoring the lesson. Maybe all the professors were trying to help her get over her social anxiety or something. That’d be nice, but she hadn’t changed over the last six years at Hogwarts, and it wasn’t going to happen overnight suddenly. They seemed to think that it would. Dragging her feet back down to the dungeons, she finally happened upon the common room, unsure what to do. She could either go in and possibly be bombarded by loud, socially interactive housemates, something that she didn’t really need any more of today, or go all the way back up to the library to hide for a few hours until dinner rolled around. Unfortunately this wasn’t the first, nor probably the last time that she would have this internal debate. It happened almost every day, if not multiple times. Deciding that the best option was to go into the common room since there was a possibility it would be quieter than the library, Cordelia pushed the entrance open and stumbled inside. She had a habit of staring at her feet when entering a room, mostly to avoid eye contact with anyone that would happen to look up when another person walked in. It didn’t always work though, today being one of those days. Immediately upon stepping into the common room and the door closing behind her, Cordelia heard her name called. She immediately stopped, shoulders stiffening up as she slowly shifted her eye line up to see who it was calling to her. Luckily it was Janae, she was pretty sure they had talked a few times before. Even though they were in the Hufflepuff common room, there were still quite a few people she didn’t know, and being randomly approached by them in what she considered her relaxation zone was a little too much sometimes. Janae then stated she had a question for Cordelia. She nodded that she understood. “F-f-fire away.”@janae ● 390 ● Bored To Death by blink-182 MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Lia responded in a nervous tone that Janae recognized from her own experience. This girl seemed a bit distracted. Janae thought to herself that maybe she should't bother her. Well if Lia didn't want to help her she totally understood that. Hesitantly Janae said, "I have been working on a charm to go along with my music. While I play the piano I am supposed to be able to project around me the images and art that I feel about the music. I was wondering if once I get it figured out you could maybe take some pictures for me. I have seen some of your work and you are very talented."

▲ She wasn’t really sure what to expect Janae to ask her, so it was actually a surprise when it had to do with a request for photographs. That didn’t tend to happen often, and when it did, it was usually about someone wanting a picture of themselves, or a group photo. This didn’t seem like that kind though. Janae wanted pictures that projected with her music. That was definitely a different way to do a charm with music. She had never thought of that before. Her mind working a mile a minute, Cordelia tried to think of a good way to respond. She really wanted to help, but at the same time didn’t want to sound too eager. There was also one caveat to what Janae wanted too; the pictures had to match the emotions of her music. That would be difficult, since they would be coming from Cordelia, not from Janae. She could definitely do her best to try and convey what Janae wanted, but it would be a daunting task for both of them. Biting down on her lip, she tried to think of a way to overcome this obstacle. First she had to listen to the music to get an idea, and then Janae would have to tell her what she wanted the images to be of. It would make it even easier if the other Hufflepuff joined her while she was taking the photos, that way there would be a better transition from music, to emotion, to pictures. That was the only way she could fathom that this would work out the right way, without letting Janae take the pictures herself. “I’d l-love to help.” She said, smiling. “W-what did you have in m-m-mind?” She decided to omit the rest of her thoughts for the time being, especially if the pictures Janae wanted were simple enough. The best part about this though was that Cordelia really wanted to see how the charm panned out. Putting images up to music was definitely something new and exciting that she had never seen done with magic. Muggles did that all the time, so it had lost her interest. This was completely new though. @janae ● 364 ● Planets by Avenged Sevenfold MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Janae could see the wheels turning in Cordelia's head. But as she answered Janae smiled. She seemed like she was actually interested. All the ideas she had came rushing to her head making her excited to get started. "Well I have to figure out how to make the charm actually work. There have been a few hiccups. I will be putting the charm on a pair of gloves and see if that works. From what I have read they should be able to communicate with my mind. Hopefully it will come together quickly so we can get started." Janae swallowed feeling a ting of worry about if this was going to really work. "I can let you know when I'm about ready." Janae said shoving the worry down. cordelia regan smith

▲ While she was definitely excited about taking the photographs that could potentially be set to music created by Janae, the actual charm itself seemed to be rather intriguing. Her previous thoughts on how it would work were quickly dashed when Janae said that she was going to charm a pair of gloves to read her mind. Cordelia had never heard about spells that could do that, but it was definitely interesting regardless. Nodding her head along as the other Hufflepuff talked, she started thinking of ways that she could get the charm to work. She assumed Janae had to be relatively talented in charms if she was trying to take on a project of this magnitude. To add to that, it was of something she had never even heard of before, so there was a possibility that it was partially an original spell. She dearly wanted to help, but didn’t know if that was over stepping boundaries too much. This was Janae’s project after all, and whilst the photographs would belong to her, she didn’t want to make the entire thing happen because of her talents. Sometimes a little struggle was good. Her mum said it built character, or something silly like that. “Of course.” She said, smiling again. Taking that as a cue that they were done talking, Cordelia hiked her bag back over her shoulder and started to walk away. There was one thing still bothering her though. It really did seem like Janae was having issues with the charm. She knew she could help, yet at the same time didn’t want to make it all about herself. Stopping suddenly, and not really sure why she did it, she quickly spun around to face Janae again. “I-I-I can help with the charm. If it’s o-okay with you…” She bit down on the corner of her lip, hands clenched around the strap of her bag, wavering slightly back and forth. The last thing she wanted to do was hijack the whole project, but she knew she could help Janae figure out the charm with a little time. Two minds were better than one after all. @janae ● 356 ● Ok by OMFG MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

A sense of protection of her project nagged at Janae as Cordelia offered to help with the charm. Her gut reaction was to decline the invitation. But Janae hesitated. This charm was a lot more complex and difficult than she had anticipated with her skills in charms. She had been extremely frustrated hitting wall after wall. She felt like she was close though. Maybe a bit of help would be the thing she needed. But she didn't really know this girl. Janae was shy as it was and working with other people seemed more difficult to her than it seemed to be for other people. Cordelia looked like she needed to get somewhere so Janae rushed through her thoughts as quickly as she could. She stuttered out, "Yeah, maybe. I have been struggling a bit. Maybe an extra mind would be helpful." Hopefully she wouldn't regret this. She needed to get out of herself more often, this could be good. "Do you have much practice with charms?"

▲ Cordelia was torn between how she wanted Janae to respond to her offer to help. In one corner, she desperately wanted to be told that taking the photographs was enough; she knew from experience that having someone try and butt in on a personal project wasn’t fun. Some things were better left to struggle through and figure out on your own, and she completely understood that. In the other hand though, this charm Janae was describing was so intriguing, that it was hard not to pass up the idea of potentially helping out. Cordelia fidgeted slightly where she was standing as Janae answered her offer. Immediately she could tell that it had caught the other Hufflepuff off guard. She started to worry that maybe it wasn’t best to push her luck anymore, but at the same time, it seemed like Janae was struggling with it. Conflicted, Cordelia thought of how to answer Janae’s question. Was she good with charms? Decent. Maybe even excellent depending on who was asked. That had to do with classes though, and repetition from wand movements and incantations was much easier to follow than creating or morphing a charm from scratch. They were two completely different methodologies. Looking down at her feet, she continued her debate on how to answer the question. “I-” she started, before immediately closing her mouth again. She was going to say that she was pretty good and could figure it out, but she wasn’t positive if she could or not, especially if it was something Janae had created on her own. After all, Cordelia had never attempted a homemade spell before. “I can p-probably work the kinks out. Th-that way you can work on finishing it…”@janae ● 285 ● The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
