@victoire today was one of those days. he was supposed to be at home enjoying the rain with his grumpy two year old son. but instead he was at work, pacing the floor of his office with a quick quotes quill and parchment following him around as he paced the floor with hayden against his shoulder, his arms wrapped around his little toddler as he grumbled into his father's shoulder. he didn't blame his son for being cranky, there were times when cade wished he could throw a tantrum about being stuck in his office. even thought he loved his jobs there were times when the stress made him wonder if it was worth it. then something good would happen and he'd wonder what he'd been thinking. it was almost like fatherhood in a way, though he enjoyed the latter a great deal more. he rubbed his hand over hayden's back as his son started to settle finally, feeling the yawn he grinned as he side stepped a toy train track that had been set up around his desk. he had brought a small bag of toys with him that morning when he'd been sprung with the fact he needed to work and of course it had been on a day when his family and his wife's family couldn't baby sit. it didn't matter though, if they had a problem they could deal with it. it was the first time in two years that cade had brought hayd into the office while he was working. he kept talking to the quill as he walked around his room. he leaned down slightly to pick up his own quill to sign something that had just appeared on his desk. he glanced at it before signing and sending it on to. he looked up when he heard the door to his office open and he rested his hand on hayden's head gently as the boy suddenly became interested in what was happening around him, sleep becoming the second most important thing on his mind.

Vic had actually not been at work this week as much as usual. She usually worked way more then she was even supposed to, but this week she actually worked just a little bit over her scheduled office hours, rather than being there twenty four/seven. It was a nice break, if you could even call it that. But not she was back in full swing as the first task was starting in just two days and she was anxious for it to be over with. She wanted to talk to Cade about it, see how the school was doing.
She gently knocked on his office door before gently pushing it open. What she saw was... a toy train set among other things. Then her eyes found the baby and she nodded. "I see we have company today," she mused, "may I?" she asked in reference to her entering the room.
@caden (he is quite lovely!)

@victoire "I see we have company today," he chuckled and nodded as he saw who was standing at his door. of course it just had to be his boss. though he didn't mind that she had come to see him. knowing how busy they were she must have needed to talk to him about something, which is what he'd come in for. to talk to people and do the work he apparently wasn't able to do from home. "may I?" he nodded quickly and stepped forward, placing his foot on one of hayden's toys. he heard something crunch and he cringed slightly as he side stepped the toy and kicked it under his desk. "mind the train" he said as he motioned to it, shifting his hold on hayden as the toddler buried himself more into his dad's shoulder and hid his face in his neck, apparently too tired to be warm to vic. "company that's cranky i'm afraid" he said, motioning to his son. "what can i do for you?" he asked vic as he waved his hand at the door so it could close behind vic, so the noise coming from outside wouldn't upset hayden.

Vic stepped in upon his nod and gasped as he stepped on a toy. She nodded as he talked about his son being cranky, but didn't comment on it further. He asked what she could do for him and she smiled softly. "I wanted to discuss the tournament with you. I mean, the plans for the first task and whatnot," she explained, holding perfectly still. She was unsure if she should sit or not. Plus, even though she grew up with a lot of younger siblings and cousins, she still wasn't used to the whole child thing. Well, maybe she just grew into the awkwardness, because she didn't remember being this way as a kid.

@victoire "I wanted to discuss the tournament with you. I mean, the plans for the first task and whatnot," he smiled slightly. he'd been confering with the school on what was happening and what they were going to be doing. he'd settled on a once a week meeting with the school and an owl every three days. he was worried about the safety of the students, his brother in law was there and his wife was going to be working there. as much as he wanted everyone in the school to be safe, this made it more personal. "of course, have a seat" he said as he cleared off one of the chairs in his room, having had some toys sitting on it. when hayden squirmed against his shoulder he moved to set the toddler down on the floor and he moved around the desk to grab some papers he had scribbled on. he sat in his chair and took the paper that had his scribbling on it about the tournament, he had yet to put it on an official document but this would do for now. he smiled slightly when hayden tottered over to where vic was with his hands outstretched. he picked up a toy from beside his chair encase vic didn't want the attentions of the two year old but he held off on showing it to him for now, just to see what vic wanted to do. "i have a distraction if the whirlwind bothers you" he said with humor in his voice. he was used to people not liking children, he didn't mind. after all not every one was suited to the little mess makers.

He offered her a seat and she gingerly took it, assuring there weren't any toys on the chair before she sat down. He had cleared it off already,but she still doubled checked before she sat down. He moved the kid to the floor and Vics eyes fell on it as though it was some a martian or something. She didn't understand the appeal to babies, really. It seemed nice enough, though. Then the child was standing beside her, arms outstretched, and Vic swallowed nervously, turning toward Caden as he mentioned that he had something to distract the 'whirlwind' if it was bothering her. She swallowed. "No, it's all right," she said slowly. She wasn't sure why she did it, but she reached down to pick up the kid, bringing him into her lap. She looked into his eyes for a minute before turning back to Caden. "Anyway, how are things going over there?" her voice was high and strained, but she hoped Caden wouldn't notice...
