Elias smiled. Technically, Cordelia was right. He should be able to do the same, and he should be able to just made this negative into a positive. Which he had tried to do in the past and now, but it was still difficult. It was still hard to even attempt to make being a werewolf a good thing, or being a Greyback for that matter. Of course she wouldn't understand that, but he could at least try to get her to. However Elias also felt like that might be a small waste of his time, and to stick to just speaking with her about it would be best.
"No, it wasn't my choice to make. Being a werewolf and a Greyback were two things that were forced upon me as a child, but I have learned to live with them both, and I've learned that I can't change anything about it." Elias continued eating for a few moments, allowing not only Cordelia, but himself to just think about what he had said. "I can do the same, and I've tried. And I'm not saying your stutter is less important but, when a part of me is dangerous, so dangerous that I cannot control it myself any longer, it scares me."

@jill6
She realized that maybe the way she had put everything, about Elias being a werewolf and turning it into a positive, was actually a little insensitive, and maybe also impossible. Cordelia knew things were getting easy for human hybrids in their world, like werewolves and vampires, but that also meant there was still some sort of stigma that was latched on to those descriptors. Her lack of understanding people, in general, ended up being her undoing most of the time. Fortunately it seemed like Elias hadn’t taken her comment that way, either that or it hadn’t even come across that way in the first place. She wasn’t sure.
Continuing to eat as he did, and listening to him talk, she started to understand things a little more. She knew living with a stutter was hard on her, especially coupled with her inability to speak and lack of social interaction with others, but there was no way she could compare that to him being a werewolf. While Elias said that he didn’t think her problems with stuttering were any less important than his with lycanthropy, she knew that they both knew that wasn’t true. His affliction was dangerous, even deadly, as he had put it. There was no way anyone could easily say that wasn’t more important in containing and controlling than a speech impediment was. Cordelia desperately wanted to tell him that, but wasn’t sure how to put it into words, instead opting to chew her food.
“As long as p-people know the real you, then they won’t be s-scared…” She was easily one of the most skittish students at Hogwarts when it came down to it. Sure, she could easily watch muggle horror films and not bat an eye or even walk into the Shrieking Shack without a hitch. Dealing with other people was far more terrifying, especially when she didn’t know them. Yet Elias was different. He was quiet, talked slow, and understood that she had flaws. Even if he was a werewolf, that didn’t change who he was, even if that part of him was a potential killer. She decided to finish her earlier comment though. “And you’re really n-nice to s-someone like m-me…s-s-so you shouldn’t be scared of yourself.”

Elias smiled at Cordelia. Her voice had haltered off a bit, so he knew she wasn't finished talking, but he wasn't going to rush her. She had all the time in the world to talk to him and tell him how she felt. All he had gotten so far was that she assumed that if people knew the real him they wouldn't be afraid of him. In some cases, that was correct. But, sometimes, if someone knew his name with his face, which the whole wizarding community probably did now, all they would care about was if he won or lost the tournament.
Elias finally finished eating and sucked down his drink. The waitress came over and refilled it and he thanked her quietly. Cordelia spoke once more, and Elias looked at her, a genuine smile appearing on his face. "Cordelia, anyone would be nice to a girl like you. You're true, you're honest, and you're beautiful. There isn't anything about you that someone wouldn't like, Krasiva." Elias took another sip of his drink and sat back in the booth. "I think I'll always be scared of myself, Cordelia. There's things I can do that...that I can't control."

@jill6
Elias had finished eating while she talked, or whatever it was someone would call that. Cordelia was positive that what she had managed out was the right thing to say. Despite just meeting Elias, they seemed to be getting along well. That didn’t happen often in spur of the moment situations like this. Lily was really the only other exception to that rule recently. There was something similar between Elias and Lily that she couldn’t quite put her finger on. They had completely different personalities but both seemed to make her feel at ease. Probably getting to know both of them more would help determine what it was exactly.
After she had finished giving her little rant on why Elias shouldn’t be scared of himself, she took another bite of her food. At least half of it was left still and she had been moving along on it at a relatively decent pace. It was a rather large hamburger though, so she didn’t blame herself that it was taking this long. Plus it bought her time to listen instead of talk. She had already done a lot more talking today than she had anticipated, not that she didn’t mind. Contentedly munching on her food as Elias got a refill on his drink, he finally responded to her last comment.
While he talked, she had a hard time swallowing her food. He was complimenting her again, someone he barely knew. She knew he was being honest about it, but she couldn’t understand why he was saying the things he was about her. Lily had done the same thing to her, and Cordelia finally let in and just accepted what she had been saying. It wasn’t worth fighting something someone actually believed to be true. Plus it felt kind of nice to be complimented like that. It didn’t happen often for her. Probably because she actively tried to avoid any sort of social interaction.
She started chewing her food again as she thought about what Elias had said in regards to himself. How he’d always be scared of what he was. It made sense. She would be terrified of what she was too, if she was capable of being dangerous like he was. “I know you don’t th-think you’re brave b-because of that….b-but isn’t knowing your flaws better than being reckless?” Cordelia took a bite of her burger rather quickly after finishing her sentence, chewing fast as she thought of anything else to say. Swallowing, she continued rather quietly, “I think kn-knowing your flaws is m-more admirable than running away.” She didn’t have the heart to add the part where she had done that her entire life. Only recently had that really seemed to change.

Elias grinned. Cordelia definitely had a way with words, even if she couldn't get them out exactly in the correct way. He knew she was trying, and he respected that and appreciated it. She was definitely helping, and Elias knew getting other points of view other than Maria and his siblings was probably best. "It...it is better than being reckless. Thankfully, Cordelia, I've never been much of a reckless child. I'm pretty calm, in all honesty."
He saw how she was attempting to eat the burger and Elias laughed. "You know you haven't got to finish that, Cordelia. You can take it back to the common room with you if you'd like." Elias didn't want her to feel like she had to finish. Either way, he was glad to have taken her out, and to have fed her and had this conversation. It was helping him out in many more ways than one, and he would always be thankful for this young girl. "I think so too, Cordelia. Flaws are apart of us, and we've got to be proud of them, at some point in our lives at least."

She smiled meekly as he said that he had never been reckless. She knew what that was like, except when around Lily. And sometimes Tania. But those instances were always in good fun, and a little recklessness was healthy. She had come to learn that over the past few months. The only thing was that Elias couldn’t risk being that way if he was a werewolf…that wouldn’t be good for anyone.
Apparently it was funny that she was trying to finish the burger before they left the restaurant. Even though she hadn’t been hungry at first, the wait and anticipation for the food had gotten the better of her. She shook her head that she was fine, swallowing another mouthful of burger. “N-No it’s f-fine. I ended up being hungrier than I thought.” It had to be quite the sight to behold though. She was exactly the biggest person in the world, and managing to eat a hamburger that size was a feat in itself. That and when it came to food that wasn’t in the Great Hall, as much as she liked what the house elves made, she had little to no restraint when it came to eating. Breaking from the normal food and getting different stuff once in a while was nice.
Cordelia nodded her head as Elias agreed about accepting their flaws. That was the only way she had learned to be content with her stuttering, even if it still affected her day to day life. It hadn’t gone away in the last 16 years, there was a good chance it would be stuck with her for life. Deciding to change the conversation, which she didn’t do often on her own volition, Cordelia took a sip of her drink before continuing with her thoughts. “Are you n-nervous for the f-f-first task?”

Cordelia continued eating and Elias grinned widely at her. He had eaten all of his food and was no longer hungry, so Cordelia eating was no issue for him. If he was still hungry he might have ordered more, but even dessert was out of the question. Elias had to stay somewhat physically fit for this tournament, otherwise it probably wouldn't go well. "Ah, that's good. Well, even if you don't finish it, you can take it home. But if you can, go ahead and eat it all!" He grinned.
She questioned him about the first task and he shrugged. Tons of people had been asking him that but he was just giving the same answer over and over again, because Elias really didn't know what else to say. "A bit, I suppose. I have no idea what it entails, or what it will be or what will be in it, so yes, I am a bit nervous. But I'm sure I'll do okay...and I'll come out of it okay. I hope." He chuckled. It probably wasn't the best thing to joke about, but you had to keep it light hearted somewhat, right?

Eating this hamburger was one of the most daunting tasks Cordelia had been presented with all year. She desperately wanted to prove to herself, and maybe to Elias, that she could finish the whole thing, but her stomach was starting to tell her otherwise. Taking one last bite, she put the hamburger back down on her plate, defeated. That was enough for one meal. Sipping some of her tea again, which was now cold, Cordelia stared at the meal once again. She was done. It had won. “M-Might have to do that.” She said, agreeing with Elias. Once the waitress came back she’d ask for a box. The remainder would be a decent mid-afternoon snack, or even a light dinner, instead of going to the Great Hall like usual.
Elias laughed about not knowing what the first task was about. That was understandable. There was a reason it was kept a secret right up until the day of; even if he did manage to figure it out, there was no way he was going to tell her about it. They had only just met after all, and she was from a different school. It seemed rather obvious to keep certain details from the opponent’s school. “You are a ch-champion…it wouldn’t have picked someone who wasn’t able to m-make it through the tasks.” Then again, it depended on what the tasks ended up being. She had only heard about the last one through her parents, since they had been at Hogwarts during it.

Elias nodded with a smile. Not everyone could eat a full meal, and there wasn't anything wrong with that. Him, being a growing man, and a werewolf, needed all the extra food. Elias knew he could eat for hours if he wanted, but he didn't as that probably wasn't the healthiest thing for him nor would he feel too great afterwards. Turning around slightly he waved the waitress over to ask for the check and a box for Cordelia. Elias took out some money and paid for the meal, turning back to face this blonde girl with a large grin.
"That's true..." The Goblet of Fire wouldn't have chosen anyone that couldn't make it through, that was correct. But Elias wasn't sure exactly how it chose people either. It wasn't that he thought he couldn't finish the tournament, but he doubted his capability to actually win any of the tasks. Maybe that was a terrible way of going into it all, being so pessimistic may not be a great thing on his end. "We'll see. I'm just hoping I win at least one of them."

Elias must have been intent on helping her out more than she actually needed, because asking for a to-go box wasn’t exactly difficult, even for her. Either way, she was grateful when he did so, and paid as well, like he had said earlier after she agreed to get lunch with him. Most of the money her parents gave her as an allowance for the year always ended up going towards film and art supplies, even if she wasn’t that good with the latter. There was only so much her parents could send to her in regards to film supplies as well, so she had made the initiative to find enough muggle money to order her own through the post office in Hogsmeade. Somehow they managed to get muggle packages delivered there, but it worked out in her favor when she started to run low on the non-magical film later in the school year. The rest of that money went to candy and other little things she seemed to find necessary for some reason. “Th-Thank you for lunch.” Cordelia stated, smiling at Elias.
“Three tasks for three champions.” She mused, not really for any particular reason. “If you don’t d-do well in one, m-maybe in one of the others you will.” The tournament was completely out of her element. Not only would she find herself nowhere near the goblet, she hadn’t even considered entering in the first place, should she have been old enough. That wasn’t her. She didn’t have anything to prove or live up to. Getting out of school and taking pictures was all the Hufflepuff wanted to do. Snubbing those life choices by entering a deadly tournament wasn’t exactly on her list of things to do like it was for some of the others.
The waitress had returned at this point with the box, and taking one last look at her burger, Cordelia dropped it in before sealing the top. That would definitely come in handy if she got hungry again later on. Standing up from the table, assuming that they were ready to leave, Cordelia slung her camera back around her neck. She had no idea what they were going to do next.

"You're very welcome, Cordelia." Elias didn't think she couldn't ask for a box, but in his mind, it was the chivalrous thing to do. That was how his mother had raised him, and it was how Elias had continued to grow up; to treat women with respect and to do things for them that any random man may not do. Sometimes, Elias knew that some women could find it rude, as he had quickly learned with his cousin Maria, but then again, she was just a brat so he didn't pay much attention to her anger.
Elias nodded his head. "Well, let's hope yeah? Although, I don't expect you to route for me, of course. Anna is your champion, and from the few conversations we've had she seems like a sweet girl." He had no issue with either of the other two champions, even though the Beauxbatons boy did seem quite cocky and Elias wasn't a fan of that attitude. The two of them stood up, and Elias held the door open for her to walk outside. "Would you like me to walk you back to the school, or is there something else you wanted to do? Or...do you just want me to leave you alone?" He laughed.

She gave a small thumbs-up to Elias as he agreed that there was a chance he could win at least one of the tasks. It was a long shot, but it probably all depended on which champion’s skills lined up the best with the task at hand. She knew nothing of what they consisted of, other than that they were supposed to be difficult, so it was safe to assume that there were dangerous aspects to all of it. “N-Never talked to her b-before…have with her relatives though…” Cordelia had absolutely no opinion on the Hogwarts champion. Lily had seemed rather happy during the selection ceremony, and she could distinctly remember watching the Gryffindor getting dragged down off of their house table during the celebration.
As they headed towards the exit of the restaurant, Elias held the door open, and Cordelia stepped back out into the fall air. It felt colder now than it had been earlier. Maybe winter was coming. Stopping a few feet outside of the building and turning back to face Elias, she thought for a few moments about what she wanted to do next. Glancing down at her camera, she realized there was probably a need for more muggle film. Most people would think that would be an impossible item to find in a town like Hogsmeade, but it wasn’t. “D-D-Dervish and Bangs.” Cordelia stated, realizing a few seconds after that there wasn’t any context for any of that. “Th-they sell m-m-muggle film there sometimes and I’m r-running low so…” She looked down and fiddled with the camera a few more times. “If you want to t-tag along?”

Elias chuckled at Cordelia's thumb. She was definitely not very verbal, but he enjoyed that. Having Maria around was much different than Cordelia. She was much more reserved and quiet, while Maria was outgoing and well, slightly obnoxious if that was the right word to use. But even so, Elias still loved the girl, no matter how crazy she was. "Yes, I've heard she's got quite the crazy amount. I've spoken with her cousin before too, Fred."
The store Cordelia mentioned, Elias had never been to or heard of. Granted, England was much more different than Bulgaria. He held his hand out. "I'd love to join, but you've got to lead the way, darling." Elias would love to see this store that had muggle items in it. He had never seen any, and was quite interested, especially in muggle film. Maybe he'd buy some for his mother. She'd probably like that. "What else is in this store?"

Cordelia wasn’t sure if she had ever met Fred before. She knew of him through Roxy of course, but couldn’t recall ever talking to him. “I only really know Roxy, F-Fred’s sister, and Lily. The rest are k-kind of t-too outgoing for me…” Not technically true, since Lily was easily the most rambunctious of them all. It was hard not to get wrapped into whatever it was the Gryffindor was doing at the time, as seen by their first encounter with each other. Roxy, on the other hand was a lot calmer and understood Cordelia’s problems better. They had known each other longer after all.
Elias held his hand out to her, but she didn’t know what to do. Instead, she readjusted her camera, smiled, and started walking slowly in the direction of the store. Hopefully there were muggle supplies in today. They tended to be quite the commodity, and with the extra students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons there, things had been selling out faster than normal. Her stockpile of film for her magical camera was all set; she didn’t use it often because the moving pictures creeped her out. If she wanted something like that, she’d just take a video, which was obviously not possible on Hogwarts grounds. “M-Mostly m-m-magical instruments and other things. But they have a lot of muggle items t-too.”

"Oh! I've met Lily as well! She's quite the handful." Elias laughed. Lily apparently knew his brother Adrian and they were close, and she was also a werewolf. Elias hadn't met so many werewolves in his entire life, and now he knew, what, four of them? It was crazy. Elias enjoyed Lily's company though, she was a doll.
He walked along side her as she spoke and was interested. "That's interesting. Maybe I'll buy some gifts there for Christmas." Elias didn't play any instruments or anything, or take photos but this gave him a great store to buy gifts for his mother and for Maria. They probably wouldn't expect the gifts and he was excited to go inside and see it. "Do you buy anything else there other than film?"
