Ophelia was surprised when Clodagh mentioned that Swan Lake happened to be performing in a theatre nearby when the curse was laid upon her; how horribly ironic. "Do you remember anything at all about the person who cursed you? I know I keep referring to them as a 'he' but that's only because the villain in Swan Lake was male," she asked, hugging herself though it was not cold in the room. She was feeling her heart break a little for Clodagh, and desperately wished to find some way to help the girl out with her curse.
Then, all of a sudden, Ophelia had an idea. "Look, you can't keep living in a inn room where there are stray cats everywhere. I have a spare bedroom, come live with me at least for awhile!" she suggested with a smile. "Of course, I have a cat but I'll bring him to my brothers; he likes it there better anyway and we can work on some enchantments to your room so that he doesn't come near it at night," she added, remembering her feline friend. Her owl Hopper stayed in Ophelia's room, so he would not be any problem as well. "What do you say? It might be nice to live with someone who knows what is happening to you every night," she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Clodagh closed her eyes, thinking. She'd gone over that day so many times before, trying to think of anything useful. Anything that might help explain how this had all happened. "I think it was a man..." She opened her eyes, looking over at Ophelia as she bit her bottom lip. "I.... I think... someone hired him. To... do this." She started to explain, her voice growing quieter as she admitted it. Her gaze dropped to the stare at her own shoes. "I was working with a witch... Studying the culture for ideas. We were friends... at least I thought we were. But when I heard about Hogwarts... I wanted to come home. Be closer to Emma and make sure she was alright." Emma Clodagh's only, and younger sister. "She was so mad, but I didn't think.... I think she wanted to get back at me. I... I don't even remember how it happened though. One minute everything was fine and the next it wasn't..." She swallowed hard. She'd learned a bit about Voodoo while in Louisiana, but not nearly enough to explain how it happened. Just enough to recognize the source of the curse.
It was Ophelia's next comment that got Clodagh to finally look up again. Her eyes were wide as saucers, her mouth slightly gaped in shock. To no surprise, it was like looking at a startled mouse. Apparently Clo had always had a mousey look to her, probably why the curse had chosen a mouse as a form. "What?" She managed to squeak, her voice a few octaves higher. She was obviously stunned by the offer. Sure, they were friends.... "Are... Are you sure..? I-I've managed just fine until now-" Clodagh moved to stand up, but winced as she agitated the wound on her back. Reminders that she wasn't managing 'just fine'.

Ophelia’s eyes widened exponentially as Clodagh slowly began to tell her story about her fellow witch. She certainly couldn’t blame Clo for wanting to come home with the kidnappings and murders of students at Hogwarts; if Ophelia had had a sibling at the school she’d be beside herself with worry being a whole ocean away! “That sounds really unfair of her; of course you came home, why would you make any other decision,” she whispered, shaking her head. “I like to believe in the best of people of course but...this woman clearly had some possessive issues. I think you may be right in thinking it was a hired hit, so to speak.” She sighed sadly; poor Clo, the girl really was so kind-hearted that it pained her that someone would do this to her out of spite and jealousy.
Ophelia let out a giggle, then covered her mouth when Clo said she’d been doing just fine. “Oh, and do you care to explain the scratches on your back as ‘just fine’?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “I know you’re so used to carrying this secret with you and being on your own but….wouldn’t it ease your mind even a little bit to have someone else there for you?” she asked, looking directly at her.

Clodagh could only nod as Ophelia spoke about it being unfair. Clo never would have expected tge other witch to do something like this. She's honestly thought they'd been friends... okay yes she had noticed a... bit of an obsessive and possessive side but she'd just overlooked it. After all, the other girl had been helping Clo with learning the area and story ideas. She'd just thought it was protective. Obviously she'd been wrong and she as paying the consequences now.
An absolutely pathetically sad expression appeared as Ophelia pointed out the gashes. Clodagh knew Ophelia was right. If things didn't get better Clo might just end up getting herself killed. She preferred being alive, no surprise. "I just... I don't want to trouble anyone..."

Ophelia waved aside her objections. "You are not troubling anyone Clodagh; you've had something terrible happen to you and you need somewhere safe to rest your head, as a human or...not," she said, gesturing to nothing in particular. She did have a dollhouse that would be a perfect little house for a field mouse, at least provide Clo a comfortable place to sleep in her tiny form. She'd have to make sure that she made some tiny square cloths to make a comfortable miniature bed.
She placed the last bandage on Clodagh's back and stood up. "You should still see a Healer; they would be able to better heal those wounds for you. Someday that'll be me, but not just yet," she told her; she was still a ways a way from being a full Healer, but she was getting there. She crossed the room and opened the door, but first she turned back to look at Clo. "Let me know your decision soon, alright?" she told her. She smiled, and left Clodagh in peace.
