@lestrange All Phil wanted was to go to the common room, sit in the chair by the fire and read a book. It was that kind of day. Not only was the weather dismal, but he had killed one of his experiements in the greenhouse, exploded a potion, and failed an astronomy quiz. Overall, not a good day. But he was still trying. He smiled at the people he passed on his way to the common room, nodding at the people he didn't know. The portrait hole opened for him and he crawled through it. The comforting red and gold color scheme calmed him a little. He didn' t have to pretend so much here. Then he froze. Directly in front of him were his two best friends. Snogging. Phil felt a knot tighten in his stomach as he glanced away from them. He didn't need to see how closely they were pressed together, or wonder how long they had been there, or how long they would keep going. He gritted his teeth as he struggled to regain his composure. He didn't even know why he was so upset about this. Yes he did. He did not want Jude to be the one snogging Andy. He wasn't ready to admit anything more than that, but of that much he was certain. And there was no way he could be here while they were....all over each other. He turned to go, taking a deep breath with his back to them.

Andy and Jude had been lost in the throws of teenage passion with one another for almost a week now, if you could call Jude passionate. He was quiet, brooding and callous. Even Andy was quiet and cold. But it worked for them. They both didn't like crowds or loud places. They liked to be the sidelines. They liked to be in their own world.
Which, sadly, involved a lot of snogging in public places and forgetting that they were in public. Now was one of those times. They would have continued too if it wasn't for Andy seeing a certain person when she took a breather. She shoved at Jude, pushing him back. "Hey, Phil! Come sit with us," she said, trying to ignore the twisting in her stomach at the sight of him.
She shifted to sit on Jude's lap, facing Phil, and gestured to the seat beside her.

@lestrange He froze, his back toward the common room, ready to walk out the portrait hole to find somewhere less heart wrenching. Andy called his name, inviting him to sit by them. To say he had been avoiding them in the last week was... accurate, though he was trying to to make it seem like he was avoiding them. So he took a steadying breath, pasted a smile on his face and turned around. "Oh! Hey guys." as if he hadn't seen them , as if everyone hadn't seen them. He walked over, between the chairs and sat down on the chair opposite them, not sitting where Andy had patted. He loved both of his friends, but he did not like what they were doing. He did not want to be with them right now. Andy shifted so she was sitting on Jude's lap, Phil glanced away. "Hey Phil." Jude said, his customary dull voice like a spike through Phil's heart. But he kept his smile as real as he could. "How are you guys doing? I feel like we haven't been spending much time together." Not that he wanted to spend time with them. He just wanted to be as far away from them as he could. Or just hide in the greenhouse forever.

Andy wasn't stupid, she knew he had seen them. Still, she let him have that. He walked toward them and sat in a comompletely dfiferent chair, not where Andy had gestured for him to sit. Her eyes narrowed slightly and she almost moved off Jude's lap, but some horrible part of her liked the way Phil acted in this situation. It was almost as if she was happy that he was jealous, not that she was aware that she felt this way.
Then there was Jude, sounding bored and uninterested as usual. Andy elbowed him, "Jude, this is Phil your friend," she reminded him, but all she got was a scoff. At Phils next words, Andy almost called him out on the fact that he was the reason they weren't spending time together. "Guess not," she didn't answer the first question.
Jude shifted, "Andy, get off of me. You're like a bag of bones," he groaned before shoving her off. Andy stood, scoffing, and turned to smack his arm, "you weren't complaining when I was on your lap-" she stopped, remembering herself, and quickly sat down on the couch, folding her arms. "Phil," she turned her attention back to him, "How are you?"

@lestrange Phil was going to be sick. He could feel his stomach turning and it was getting worse the longer he spent with these two. Shifting in his seat to try and relieve the feeling he made sure his smile was still on, though he didn't know if anyone else could tell how fake it was. Who would have thought that seeing two of his best friends date would be something of nightmares? When Jude pushed her off of his lap Phil nearly punched him in the face. Instead he clentched his fists, gritted his jaw and stood up. He stood at the same moment that Andy sat back down, asking him how he was. There was no way he could answer that question honestly, not without buring bridgest he wasn't willing to burn. "Actually, I just remembered I have a plant that needs to be fed at sunset, I had better get down there." he lied quickly, it was a believable one because at one time he really had been nurishing a plant with those needs. Now... It was just an excellent reason. "I'll... I'll see you guys later." He felt bad for so obviously messing up the conversation, but he could not sit here and be with them. One on one, he was still fine with each of them, but together? It was like he was drowning in fertalizer, not a pleasant experience.

Andy leaned back, slightly surprised as Phil stood up when she sat down. He said he remembered he had a plant that needed to be fed and her eyebrows knit together. Did he really think that she couldn't see right through him? She needed him, and there he was just ditching her as he often did when... well, she knew why to an extent, but she didn't want to admit that she knew otherwise she'd look like a terrible person for not fixing all this sooner. "Hey wait," she said, standing and catching his arm with her hand, "let me come with you," she asked softly.
Jude stood too, "yeah, I need a smoke anyway. You kids have fun," he didn't even move to say goodbye to Andy with a kiss or anything before leaving, not even turning around to see if she wanted a goodbye. She frowned at the door, then turned back to Phil, "well, you're stuck with me now, Phil."

@lestrange Phil was surpised to feel Andy's hand on his arm. He felt angry at his treacherous heart as it leapt at her touch. He looked back at her with conflicting emotions. Of course he wanted to spend time with her. But if Jude was going to come he couldn't handle it. He should have known better than to think Jude cared about anyone but himself. Jude excused himself to go smoke and left the two of them. Phil looked to Andy, hoping the relief wasn't showing on his face. "Guess I am." He said then nodded his head to himself as he said his next words. "You are probably the best person I can think of to be stuck with." Which was honest, just not when Jude was around. How was it he had let himself fall so completely for his best friend after she got with his other best friend? "I guess we should go... check on my plant, huh?" He said, going through his checklist of plants that he could feed twice in one day to cover for his little lie.

Andy wished Phil would smile at her, she felt sick that he wasn't. His smile was one of the few things in the world that saved her anymore... not that she'd tell him or anyone else that. But then he said those words, about how she was the best person to be stuck with, and her own lips curled into a smile, too.
She nodded, finally, "oh, yeah. The plant. Greenhouse. Yes, let's go," she said, removing her hand from his arm and looking toward the door, "lead the way, Philip," she smirked.

@lestrange Phil started walking toward the the front doors. HE thought of a good plant to check on and knew he could make it look convincing. Why was he even trying so hard with this plant thing? It was Andy, she could tell he was lying. But it was either keep up the lie or admit that he hadn't wanted to be around her and Jude... lie it was. "So... how are you classes going?" he asled akwardly as they stepped down the stairs. He was such an idiot. She had all the same classes as him, well most of them anyway. They were going just the same as his. But he didn't withdraw the question. He still needed something to talk with her about as they walked.

Andy followed, at first, but was soon walking beside him as they moved down the stairs, toward the entrance hall. He asked how classes were and she raised an eyebrow at him momentarily before offering a small chuckle. "Well, for me. I'm afriad that I still think ancient runes is a complete waste of my time," she sighed, shaking her head. She reached out to gently touch her hand on the railing as the stair moved. She continued, "it's a little hard to focus in some classes when both my best friend," she nodded toward him, "and my boyfriend are in there. I find myself wondering how you two are doing more often then I should," she admitted.

@lestrange Phil didn't want the conversation to turn back to his awkward avoidance of Jude and Andy of late, but, he guessed, it was inevitable. He bit the inside of his lip as he thought while she spoke. He was an idiot to think she wouldn't notice him avoiding her. Especially when only a few weeks ago they had all three been inseparable. "Why are you worrying about that? Honestly, I am fine. And you can just ask Jude yourself, but I guess you don't have much time for talking." The words came out more bitter than he thought they would, than he had meant them. He quickly glanced over at her to gauge her reaction to them, hoping desperately she hadn't heard them and that he hadn't hurt her feelings. Whatever he felt about her relationship with Jude, he still cared about her and him.

At first Phils words sounded gentle, until the last part that felt like he had slapped her in the face. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped slightly, slight hurt playing across her expression. "Are... are you kidding?" she asked, really not sure if he had been or not. "We... talk. We talk!" she tried to convince him, and maybe herself a little. She shook her head, feeling her cheeks burn red, "some relationships don't need much talking. I mean, like us," she said, trying to steer the conversation, "we've sat together in silence plenty of times just studying or whatever, that doesn't meant that's a bad thing. I mean, I guess we could stand to do more talking..." her voice grew quitter and she shook her head, looking away from him. "I guess you're right. I'm glad you don't need to be worried about."

@lestrange Her face betrayed her emotions more readily than it ever had before they became friends. Or maybe he could just read her better now. Whichever it was, she had heard him. He looked away slightly as she tried to rationalize, justify. He felt angry at her justification. Was she really that blind, blind enough to not see how much pain he was in? They never talked anymore. They only ever sat in silence doing homework.. and Jude was always there. He tried to hold back his anger, that wasn't going to help his relationship with her. "Maybe we could talk tomorrow again... just you and me?" he added with some trepedation. They reached the greenhouse and he unlocked the door with his wand.
