Daryl was all suited up and ready for the Yule Ball. It didn't take him very long to get ready, but he also likes to pamper himself and took much longer than he generally did. He had no date tonight, which he was perfectly okay with. That was how he rolled; single and ready to mingle with any girl possible. Girls that were also single, girls he's slept with before, and broken hearted girls. There would be plenty of them, but, his parents would also be there so he had to be careful. Before the Champions dances had started, he had said hi to his mother and father, as well as his aunt before going over to stand around the dance floor.
As the Champions began dancing, Daryl's eyes glanced around the room, looking for no one in particular. He saw his friends, his roommates, and people from the Art Club. He spotted his mother and father and made note to keep an eye on them throughout the night. His aunt was near the front with the other Professors, and Daryl now had all his worries at bay. He didn't have anyone in particular to ask to dance, so as of right now he stood and watched, a small grin on his lips.

Ondina had come with Grey Slater, but she'd already ditched him. It seemed someone had clued him in on the whole potion thing and given him an antidote. Drat. She wasn't ashamed though. In fact, she'd just smiled and commended him on finally proving there was a brain somewhere in that head of his. She really hadn't cared, he'd been getting boring anyway. Honestly, the Gryffindor boy just lacked any sort of charm and appeal, and his personality was so flat that he reminded her of Professor Binns. Nothing like the other Gryffindor that had caught her interest...
Interest? She wouldn't call it that. They'd just slept together.... Several times. And despite several encounters she still found herself drawn to him, not sick of him yet. That was odd. Since Cassius left Ondina had been bouncing between boys weekly, never keeping one around to long. And yet Daryl was like a boomerang. She got her fill and got rid of him, but he came right back. Or maybe she was the boomerang... Either way, they kept finding themselves back together. Ondina just chalked it up to him being interesting rather then something deeper.
Either way, he was easy to spot in the crowd. She had to admit, the color of his suit initially surprised her, but the color looked great on him and she found herself moving through the crowd towards him. Coming up from behind, so he wouldn't spot her, she lightly placed a hand on his shoulder and let it slowly run down his arm, brushed his finger tips, then dropped back to her side. "Who knew you'd look good in green. I think you're in the wrong house." She purred, not bothering with formal greetings.

The music was beautiful, and he smiled as he saw his mother and father end up on the dance floor. Daryl loved his parents, and he knew Jasmin did as well. They glided across the floor, and he tilted his head back, just watching them. Someday, Daryl hoped he could find love like that. A true love that he had grown up watching as a small child into early adulthood and one he'd hope to see the rest of his life.
His thoughts were gently interrupted by a hand, touching his shoulder and grazing down to his fingertips. Daryl's eyes found Ondina's and he smiled. "I look good in anything, Ondina. Now you..." Daryl turned his body so they were facing one another and stood up off the wall. He very obviously looked her up and down, shaking his head at her. "You look marvelous, Ondina. In white, of all colors." A chuckle escaped his lips. Daryl's hand moved forward and brushed a strand of her blond hair behind her ear. "Where's your date, darling?"

Ondina smirked at his response. In anything? Well, she'd agree with that. "You look pretty good in general, regardless of what you are, or aren't, wearing." she retorted, a slight teasing in her voice though quite serious at the same time. She ran her hands across the fabric around her waist at his compliment. "I wanted to stand out." she answered. White definitely wasn't a color in abudence at dances. But for a winter themed ball, it seemed appropriate. Plus, she'd fallen in love with the way the dress was made, letting some of the skin of her waist and legs show through. Obviously her mother had helped her pick it out. Her father might have a heart attack when he saw it.
Ah, her date. No doubt Daryl knew who she'd come with. Regardless she shrugged and tilted her head back as he tucked some of her hair behind her ear. "We decided it would be mutually beneficial to go separate directions." She explained, spinning a tale that made it seem much more pleasant then it'd actually been. "What about you? Where's your date?" she wasn't even sure he had a date now that she thought about it...

"Why thank you." Daryl enjoyed compliments, especially from girls. Whether it be any random girl or someone he knew, it made him feel good. It wasn't that he was self conscious, but he was more so extremely confident in himself. Maybe it was just Ondina. Something about her kept pulling Daryl towards her. He was assuming it was the fact that he had waited so long to sleep with her. Waited so long to finally be with her. Daryl watched as her hands rubbed the fabric and he reached a hand out, skimming the small area of skin that was showing on her hip. "You definitely stand out."
Ondina mentioned her and Grey thought it would be best for them to separate, and he laughed. Grey was his roommate and while they hadn't been getting along lately because of Ondina specifically, Daryl hoped later on they'd be able to become friends, but Grey was a weird personality. She asked about his date and he rose an eyebrow, his hands motioning around him. "Date? What date? I'm a single pringle, Ondina Weasley."

Ondina took a small step closer when his fingers brushed against her exposed skin. "Glad it worked." She slyly answered. She knew she would. Ondina could be quite vain sometimes. She knew what looked good on her, and what didn't. But was it really that bad to want to look good and stand out? After all, that was all she'd really wanted, to stand out from her family.
She smirked as he laughed, and shrugged. She didn't say anything about it. To be honest, she hadn't even know what Daryl had thought about her coming with Grey, or all the time the boy had wanted to spend with her when under the effects of the potion. Wait, why did it matter what he'd thought? She immediately ended that train of thought, and focused on Daryl as he motioned around him. Her eyebrows raised. "No date? Planning on stealing everyone else's then?" She joked lightly.

Daryl's eyebrow went up as she moved closer to him slightly, and he let his hand drop from her waist. He wasn't surprised that she'd rather stand out. It definitely seemed to be the way Ondina worked, and Daryl loved it. She was so confident about herself and her body that it turned him on an incredible amount. He had no problem with it, and if she continued to do so, hell, he'd probably stay around her more often than not.
Ondina's eyebrows went up and Daryl couldn't help but smirk at her. She seemed slightly shocked, although he wasn't sure if that was actually how she felt. "Of course! I'm always around to cure the broken hearted at the end of the night." He gave a small wink. Daryl could predict mostly a few girls that would be crying by the end of the night, and that gave him the easiest entry to comfort them. Naturally, there would be a few he wouldn't be able to get into bed, but there were some here and there that would most definitely work. "There is nothing wrong with that. Girls love me." Daryl's eyebrows wiggled at Ondina.

Ah, targeting the broken hearted. Of course. Ondina didn't look surprised at his admittance. Instead she just grinned. "That's mighty charitable of you." she purred softly. "It sounds like you'll be very busy come the end of the night." she added thoughtfully. At his mention of girls loving him she laughed softly. Well, they loved being with him, that was for sure. "You know you might break a few hearts tonight with that attitude." she teased.
Finally Ondina took a small step back and smirked at him. "Well, since you are on such a tight schedule you should ask me to dance before you have hearts to mend." It sounded like a suggestion but there was her confidence as she told him to ask her to dance.

"Why of course it is! I can't let all these beautiful young ladies run around crying. That would be a bad part of my ego." Daryl wiggled his eyebrows at Ondina. He knew he'd be busy by the end of the night. He just wasn't sure exactly how busy. "I'm too nice to break hearts, Ondina, you know that. I haven't broke a single one yet." Daryl laughed quietly, shaking his head. At least, he hoped he hadn't broken any hearts. Daryl knew he had a reputation, so should the girls who came around him.
As Ondina stepped backwards, Daryl tilted his head back and looked her up and down. Licking his lips, he rose his eyebrows and ended up smiling widely. Bending at the waist with one hand behind his back and the other held out towards Ondina, he spoke, "Dance with me, Ondina?" A slower song began to play, and he smirked happily. Perfect.

Ondina laughed at his comment and the accompanying eyebrow 'wiggle'. He was obviously quite proud of himself, and looking forward to the rest of the night. "So you're just doing your gentleman duty to those poor girls?" She teased lightly. He was a gentleman, she had to give him that. Despite being a total and complete player, he never pushed a girl. He always listened and stopped when a girl said no. Up until this year Ondina in particular had told him no quite often, never going farther than some heated snogging sessions. Of course when she'd made it clear that she wouldn't tell him no any more he'd practically jumped at the chance. "You are, but some poor girl is bound to eventually fall for your good looks and charm, and she'll be heartbroken when she realizes that she has to share you with so many others." She explained with a shrug. She doubted that would ever happen though, after all. He had a reputation. The girls knew what they were getting into when they agreed to sleep with him.
It was always thrilling to watch Daryl eye her up and down. Ondina knew she was pretty, and she was careful about her figure. So knowing that it was appreciated? Well, it definitely gave her a confidence boost. Plus Daryl never seemed to bother hiding his interest and attraction for a person. His flamboyance at her 'command' was cute, and made her laugh again. Again, always the gentleman. "I thought you'd never ask." She teased as she took that offered hand and stepped forward once more. The song had just changed as well, perfect for a slow dance. Well, most the songs were slow at the moment, since it was still the beginning of the dance.

"Of course! There's absolutely nothing else to call it!" He chuckled. Daryl never considered any of the girls he slept with to ever fall for him. He made very intricate decisions when choosing girls around him. Ones he knew weren't up for relationships, ones who just looked for a fling, and one's who were just looking to get over a heartbreak. Daryl couldn't think of one person he's slept with that would ever want to truly be with him. So when Ondina mentioned it he tilted his head, an eyebrow moving upwards. "Oh, Ondina, are you that poor little girl?" His voice whispered into her ear, smiling.
Ondina took his hand and he twirled them out into the center of the room, pulling her around gently. "I don't want you to be upset if I couldn't get a dance in with you, I've got to try to make all the ladies happy." He winked, squeezing her waist slightly with his left hand. "I am truly sorry things hadn't worked out with you and Grey Slater, Ondina. He is truly something else." Daryl laughed.

Ondina's eyebrow raised to match his own and then she softly chuckled. Her? Fall for him? What a thought! Why would that ever happen? "Unfortunately for you I don't fall that easily and it takes more than charms and good looks." She answered in her teasing tone as a sweet smile appeared. Of course she couldn't be falling for him. This was a just sex, no feelings agreement they had.
Ondina pulled herself close as they danced, matching the slow tempo of the song playing. Smirking as he spoke about pleasing all the ladies she chose not to respond. She knew she wouldn't have his company long. He'd leave after the dance probably. But then grey was brought up and she laughed again. "Well I'm not. He bored me. I'm now free to pursue more interesting distractions."

"Oh trust me, it's not unfortunate. Life is much easier when I don't have girls falling left and right for me. Swooning is much more fortunate." Daryl winked. If there had been a single girl fall for him, he most likely wouldn't even notice, or he'd stay far away from her as possible until those feelings ended. He was not the right person for a relationship, he would hurt that girl over and over again. Daryl didn't know if he'd ever be able to get to that point, not being able to sleep with whomever he pleased. Any one would be better off without falling for him.
He laughed quietly in her ear, their bodies close together as they danced in circles. Daryl took in a deep breath, seeing Grey Slater over Ondina's shoulder. "Well he doesn't look that upset, either. Good for the both of you." That's one of the reasons Daryl didn't even attempt a date to the Ball. What was the point? Most of the time you'd be leaving with someone else, and he wasn't going to waste his night only paying attention to one girl.

Ondina smirked as his rebuttal and wink. At least they were in agreement about that. Developing feelings was much to complicated, and this whole thing worked much better when they weren't involved. "Sounds like you have it all figured out then."
Most people seemed to be content with their dates tonight. Ondina had spotted a few of her friends with theirs and they seemed far less eager to ditch their date than she had. That was fine. A few months ago, and with a certain individual she would not name she might have been the same way. They probably wouldn't have come to the dance at all though, if she was being honest. But being 'alone' worked. Having no one that she had to be held responsible to. Not having to worry about their needs or personal feelings tonight. Ondina could be entirely selfish. Hence her current situation, dancing with Daryl. "Why are you concerned about him? Unless you're worried about me breaking hearts now?" She teased. Ondina wasn't a heart breaker. Soul crusher at times, but not heart.

Laughter ran through him. "Of course I do. When do I not?" He was extremely cocky in himself, but it had recently only been around Ondina that Daryl had pumped up the volume. Usually his confidence was subtle, as he tried to make sure he didn't go overboard a lot. If he did, he'd end up doing the same around family and his parents and that was probably the worst possible thing to do, especially around his mother. Speaking of, his eyes danced across the crowd, spotting his parents. He had to be careful.
"Ha! Concerned? Not concerned...just...planning. I've heard he's been talking about me a lot, it's not appreciated." Daryl rose an eyebrow at Ondina. Grey was his housemate, and while they never spoke, at least, hardly spoke, he had heard his mouth come out of that Slater's mouth way too often for his pleasure. Usually he didn't mind other people speaking about him, but if all Grey could do was complain, Daryl would give him something to complain about.
