Dan just nodded as she talked about rooming situations and then going home. He wasn't too worked up about where she would live, of course, just as long as she was happy. This Loic kid was a strange name to hear, since he'd never heard it before. He was glad they wouldn't be roommates. Then she asked if he'd talked to Adrian and Dan shook his head, "no. Been busy," he said softly. He rubbed his hands together, not wearing gloves out here in the cold was not necessarily the best idea ever. However, he didn't want to invite her below deck and he didn't want to go in the castle so their options were limited. He was basically stuck out here until this exchange with his girlfriend was over. Girlfriend. The word was still strange in his mind, but it warmed it too. Made him smile just a tiny bit. He shook his head and ducked his hands under his arms, "cold out here, isn't it?" he muttered, looking back into those blue eyes. Then, he remembered, "oh, actually... Adrian and I spoke a few days ago. His mum got a job in America," he added. Irina Rose Krum

Irina didn't really feel the cold; she was bundled up after all, and there were a lot of thoughts currently going through her mind. Including one nagging one that her boyfriend was trying to find an excuse to leave. It wasn't a good feeling at all, but then she remembered that the gooey, snuggly Dan that had been hers the past few months was very out of character for him - this was far more normal. Still, she did rather long for that other part that he had kept very well hidden for all of those years. "A bit, I suppose," she agreed. She was about to offer herself, or her scarf maybe but she didn't want to have him accidentally snap for grabbing onto his hands without warning.
She shouldn't have been surprised that Adrian hadn't come to Dan with his news; the interactions she'd witnessed between the two cousins were a bit...hostile at best. Still, she supposed that with Dan's mother being his own mothers' sister, he'd have found out by then. She turned to look away from his piercing stare when he remembered that he had. She smiled a little and rolled her eyes. "You two and your conversations are quite memorable, huh?" she said quietly, a teasing lilt in her voice. "I..ran into Lily, the day after he told her. You know how she's happy, bubbly, perhaps a little crazy but in a good way? She was the complete opposite; hollow, sad. No, I don't even think sad is the word. I don't know if there is a word for what she was, but it was....I was scared." she finished talking and looked down at her boots. She saw a smudge of green frosting and she smiled; bending down she licked her thumb and rubbed the frosting off from her shoe.
She stood up and finally looked Dan in the eye again. "Well, that was really all I had to talk to you about, at least, what couldn't wait" she said. She turned to go, but then an idea popped into her head. Smirking, she spun back around before the emotions could really set into Dan's mind. "What would you do if I dyed my hair blonde?" she asked him, reaching up to grab her hairtie from her hair. She pulled it off and shook out her dark, raven colored hair so it settled back past her shoulders. "What do you think, could I pull off blonde?" she asked him, eyebrow raised.

"Would be warmer if I'd suck it up and just come over there," he admitted under his breath, but he held his ground. He didn't want her to think it was because he didn't love her, of course, but simply that he was trying to sort this all out inside him. He tried for a smile, but it probably looked more like he was a dying codfish. He heard the teasing in her tone about Adrian, felt it, and his smile because more real because of it. The news about Lily, though, and Irinas worry for her, caused it to disappear again. He looked down at his shoes too, "damn," he muttered, shaking his head. Poor sweet Lily. Still, he had something in the words. He smiled at the thought, and the thought of telling Irina about it, and looked up at her right when she stood, looking at him. She turned to go and he held a hand out, but before he could speak she was turning back to him. He blinked, "blonde?" he said, shocked. She took her hair out of that adorable ponytail and let it fall, which caused her scent to waft toward him and he breathed it in obviously in spite of himself. "Uh-" he was completely speechless for a few moments, his throat catching at him. "You can pull off anything but..." he took that step forward, finally, and lifted a hand. "I like this," he touch the very, very tip of her hair and played with it between his fingers, "it's how I know you best." It was true, but then he smirked, "though I do hear blondes have more fun. Might be fun to get roped in that." His news about helping Adrian could wait. Irina Rose Krum

Irina said nothing to his response even though she had heard it; the last thing she wanted was her boyfriend feeling like he had to come closer to her. She’d rather he keep his distance than feel forced because then she’d feel terrible and guilty, which in turn would make him feel terrible and guilty, and it was just simply best to avoid that.
She smiled though as she realized she’d shocked him. Even when they were growing up, it had been hard to surprise Daniel Hoh, even moreso when he realized his empath abilities since he could always sense emotions before words were spoken. So every once in awhile to see the surprised look on his face was rather thrilling. Irina knew what she had planned for Christmas would surprise him too; two times in one month would probably be a record for her. She felt a shiver that had nothing to do with the cold ripple through her core as he reached out to touch her dark hair. Her own smirk matched his when he said blondes had more fun. “You know, I’ve had quite a lot of fun as a brunette,” she teased. “However, something to shake things up might be fun. Lily’s hair at the beginning of term gave me the idea,” she finished, shrugging nonchalantly. Her smile faded slightly as she thought of her friend. “I just wish I could help her, I hate feeling so useless,” she said softly, realizing the last part of her sentence held a double meaning.

He chuckled softly at her words about having fun. "I was there for some of that fun," he muttered. "Well, I don't care either way but... I like brunette," he repeated, shrugging as well. "I... might have an idea to help her," he said slowly. "Come on, it's freezing," he said, stepping forward and taking her arm with his hand. He led her to the stairs and let go of her as he went down. "It's way warmer down here," he explained. He led her to a sitting room they had, with a few small couches and chairs. He sat in a chair, "okay so, sit down. And I'll explain my genius plan," he chuckled, gesturing to the chair across from him. Irina Rose Krum

Irina let out a soft laugh and nudged him gently. "A lot of times they were with you," she agreed, smiling. They really had had some amazing times together over the past few months; spaghetti fights, playing card games, decorating the Three Broomsticks, and all those other private moments that would make people blush if she talked about it out loud. She was immensely grateful for that, even if it had been a rough few weeks for Dan. Knowing he was capable of the love he had for her was enough to keep her going, to keep fighting for him, for them. Always.
She looked around the common area, a curious wonder coming over her. She knew her father had been on this very ship nearly thirty years ago. Did he have a favorite chair? Did he used to sit by the window, watching the giant squid? Perhaps he was looking for Hermione Granger; he had never hidden the fact that he had cared for the woman deeply in their youth. He was always quick to add that she didn't compare to their mother, but Irina already knew that. She took a seat across from Dan, slipping out of her shoes so she could sit cross legged. "Okay oh wise German one. Fill me in," she said, resting her elbows on her knees as she waited for him to explain his genius plan.

She confirmed what he'd already assumed about the good times, and was glad for it. He thought they were good too, when he wasn't freaking out. She had loved her all the time, though, and still did. Even if it was hard to process and things moved incredibly quickly for someone with his issues. It didn't matter, though, it had already happened. The past was the past, now he just had to prepare for future days. She glanced around the ship and Dan guessed she was thinking about her father. Soon they were sitting and she told him, in her own silly way, to fill her in. He grinned, leaning forward, "okay, so. I'm not moving back in with my parents after graduation. I already know that," he started "so they'll have a room and... well, I wrote them asking if they'd let Adrian stay there. Louisa goes to America to perform sometimes so Adrian could go with to visit his mum and my mym can't stand not seeing aunt Barbara," he explained. Irina Rose Krum

Irina couldn’t help but feel a pang of curiosity when Dan said he wasn’t planning on going back to his parents house after graduation. Where would he be going? Would he be going to stay with Nikolai and Magdalena and their new baby? That was an interesting thought, Dan with a baby. He had mentioned he wasn’t sure what it would be like to be around the child when it was born, but perhaps he was just willing to take the chance. More than once the idea of living with him had come to Irina’s mind, but she wasn’t ready to discuss that with him. Part of it was because of how he had been the past couple of weeks, but it was her too. She knew she loved him more than she thought possible, but did people really go straight from Hogwarts, or Durmstrang, to living with their significant other? She had no idea; Nikolai had just flat out bought his own house and Magi had moved in shortly after they had started dating. She felt relief in the fact that graduation was still six months away.
Irina leaned her head to one side as she listened to his plan. She knew, from her own experience of course, that parents could indeed send their kids to Hogwarts, Beauxbatons or Durmstrang as it was more dependant on the family alma mater and geographical location combined than anything else. She imagined it would have been much more difficult to convince Headmaster Longbottom to keep Adrian at Hogwarts if he was living all the way in Los Angeles though. “That….” she paused, still processing the idea. “That’s brilliant, Dan. Well done, you may have just saved one of the best non-couple couples at Hogwarts” she said, a smile spreading across her face. Lily would be so happy if this plan actually worked, and a happy Lily made everyone else happier too. “You’re turning into quite a plotter,” she added with a teasing smile. She knew he knew she meant it in the best way possible though.

Dan chuckled as she complimented his plan and called Lily and Adrian a 'non-couple'. He shrugged, too, not wanting to seem to eager about all this. Being apathetic was easier. "I do my fair share of plotting," he said smugly, leaning back on the chair and folding his arms over his chest. He didn't say anything else then. He'd said what he brought her down here to say... he was starting to feel bad, though, for wanting to be alone again but not wanting to at the same time. He felt sick to his stomach, which frustrated him. What happened to the good old days when he didn't care what anyone thought or how they felt? Okay, okay, he did care, but he was good at pretending not to. He always had been. Until now. Until this girl. Until seeing Adrian with Lily and wanting to help him. And her. Until suddenly everyone he already loved somewhere was all in one place. He sighed, leaning his head back and looking up, "good times," he muttered. Irina Rose Krum

Dan was choosing to display an apathetic modesty, but Irina couldn’t help and smirk a little. She knew her boyfriend was more excited about his plan than he would let on; she’d seen that much when he was explaining it. She had been pleasantly surprised by it if she was being honest; Adrian and Dan weren’t exactly...chummy when it came to their relationship. The fact that Dan would have even considered doing this for Adrian was huge. Lily would be thrilled too of course, and Irina liked it much better when her best friend was happy Besides, it would make any double dates the foursome went on far more enjoyable if Dan and Adrian were getting along better. “I remember your ultimatum with the Yule Ball; you’d ask Lily if he didn’t,” Irina said with chuckle. “I am glad he asked her though; you would have probably been ditched by her for Adrian anyway the moment the ball began,” she added with a small smile.
Dan sighed and Irina stood up; she was wondering if her being down here was a little too much for him to handle, but she also didn’t want to leave. So instead she crossed over to look out the windows of the ship. “Nice view,” she commented. The wide windows did indeed give the Durmstrang students a sweeping view of the grounds; Rina could also see the Quidditch Pitch just out of the corner of the window. “You know, sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to actually have given into my mothers pleas and played Quidditch for Gryffindor,” she said casually. “I wonder what my life would have been like if I’d played; would I still want to be a Cursebreaker? I’d hope so, but I suppose I’ll never know now,” she mused, half to herself. It had been something she’d reflected on ever since she had started dating Dan, and rebuilding her relationship with Nikolai. What if she had joined the Krum ranks and played Quidditch. Would she have allowed Quidditch to be her sole aspiration in life, or would she have had a backup plan? She didn’t know, not for sure at least.

Dan did smile at the mention of his ultimatum for Adrian and the ball. Of course Irina was right, Lily would have ditched him for Adrian anyway. Plus, it was all just to get Adrian to do something, not at all because he really was going to ask the redhead. "Yeah, those guys need a push," he said. They already knew that about them, of course. He knew he was helping because he loved Adrian, but he didn't say that part out loud. He knew that Irina knew it, too. She always did. Irina stood and he sat up straighter, looking up at her. She mentioned the view and he nodded. Then she was talking about... Quidditch? Oh, because of the view of the pitch. Made sense. It was hard to keep up with her sometimes, but it was nice when he could make the same connection her brain did that made her switch topics. "You should play, maybe just not professionally. Don't want anyone dying," an attempt at a joke, but his tone was flat. Irina Rose Krum

Irina scoffed, not unkindly though. “A push? More like a massive shove with the force of a castle wall,” she said, laughing a little. Still, things had their way of working out in the end. She believed that; she had to believe that. She believed that her and Daniel would be able to work things out - the path to getting there though was getting foggier and foggier every day. That was what frightened her; that one day he’d realize they shouldn’t be together, or worse that she wasn’t worth this backlog of emotions he was feeling now. She wanted to help, but was running low on ideas on how to accomplish this.
“Mm,” she didn’t agree or disagree with him, but couldn’t help and smile at his attempt of a joke. “I am the daughter to two professional Quidditch players, the sister to another plus two amateurs. I think I can handle myself without dying; otherwise I would have been disowned. Imagine a Krum who couldn’t fly, the scandal!” she said wryly. She didn’t truly believe that her parents would have disowned her if she’d been rubbish at flying of course, but her mothers’ disappointment that she hadn’t played always made itself known to Irina. She shrugged lightly. “Besides, the team is full anyway, so if I wanted to I’d only be a reserve,” she added.

He chuckled as she talked about Lily and Adrian needing a shove. Then, she joked about the scandal of being a Krum who couldn't fly. "In my family we are all musicians or sports people so," he shrugged, "had to pick one. Though, I wonder if I made the wrong choice, " he teased. Things felt normal for a moment, warm and lighthearted, until he realized he would just crash hard later if he didn't pace himself. He pushed to standing, crossing over to her. "Let me walk you up," he offered, hand gently gracing her elbow as he led her toward the stairs again. He didn't touch her again as he led her up, but he did give her a light kiss on the cheek upon saying goodbye. " I'll be seeing you," he promised, lifting his hand to gently touch that same cheek he had just kissed. He didn't watch her go, but instead turned back to his stairs, heading back down to hide on his bunk. Irina Rose Krum_theend_ xD
