@jill5 Sugar actually calmed him down. That was…interesting. Cordelia supposed it had to do with having giant’s blood in him, because sugar always had the complete opposite on her. If anything, she actively tried to avoid it because it made it hard for her to sit still in class. The last thing she wanted was to be moving around in her seat and a professor thinking she wanted to actively answer a question. The same went with caffeine for the most part, but she could never turn down a cup of tea. That was her Achilles’s heel aside from cameras. She’d also have to say that giving Lily sugar was a bad idea as well, because the Gryffindor practically bounced off the walls without it. Unless she had a private stash like Rubeus, and was simply keeping herself on a constant sugar high. That would explain quite a bit. Cordelia had always preferred to be around those that were quiet and unassuming, like her and Rubeus, but hanging out with Lily lately had been an eye opening experience. The other girl was extremely gentle around her, somehow knowing when to push Cordelia into new things without throwing her to the dogs and making sure it was still fun all at the same time. “I-I just t-take pictures. It p-puts m-me into my own w-world.” And let her create her own visions of what the world looked like. That was something that the art club had taught her.
She watched as Rubeus switched over to a different gift wrapping process. With each one she had seen him finish, the more she realized that she was behind on the whole process herself. There was plenty of time as long as she didn’t agonize over it, which was hard enough to do. She nodded her head as Rubeus explained that he was staying because the rest of his family was busy with other things for the holidays. “S-Same.” She added. “B-But they don’t really l-like Ch-Christmas that m-much, s-so I’m staying to t-take p-pictures of the ball…”

Rubeus smiled at Cordelia as he stuffed away his empty wrappers. He didn't really think he had any type of hobby like she did, with photography. Rubeus had obsessions, including his pixie sticks, but other than that he considered himself quite boring. "That's alright, Lia. Being in your own world in my opinion is probably the best feeling out there." Rubeus patted her hand gently, making sure he didn't do it too hard. Thankfully his strength wasn't too hard to control.
Finally he finished wrapping. There were so many gifts, and he chuckled to himself. Thankfully he was magical, and it would be much easier to levitate these gifts up to his room and shrink them until Christmas. He sat back, leaning his head over to look at his best friend. "Good! You'll enjoy it, and I'm sure you'll get beautiufl pictures. Especially with all the decorations. And everyone will look so nice."

@jill5 She noticed that Rubeus was virtually done with wrapping his presents and was now picking all of the materials up. Yawning, she nodded her head as he agreed that being in your own world has a great feeling. Not only was it great, but she could also create her own world with her camera; or at least make it seem like things were different than they actually were. That got into the whole argument of whether things were objective or subjective through a camera lens, and she would prefer to leave muggles to decide that one. She simply liked taking pictures and telling a story through them. Or not at all, if she thought something looked photogenic enough. Cordelia couldn’t help but smile at her own mental debate, because she realized that everything she was thinking was exactly the same subject matter that she had just tossed aside; objective and subjective photography. There were times where she wished she could have these conversations with her friends, like Rubeus, but she knew they wouldn’t be able to follow along without a lot of explaining or prior information. Unfortunately trying to talk about those things were difficult, for obvious reasons. At some point, Rubeus patter her hand and she was pulled back out from her deep, introspective thoughts on photography.
“H-Hopefully. I think I have enough f-film to l-last the whole n-night.” She had been saving up rolls of film all term, knowing that she was probably going to go crazy at the Yule Ball. There had been a couple special care packages sent from home at the beginning of the month as well, giving her a large enough supply that she would probably be able to make it through the night without a hitch. “I d-don’t know w-what to expect…s-supposed to be l-lots of p-people, right?”

"That's great, Lia!" He grinned widely at her. If she didn't have enough film he'd take it upon himself to get her some more as a Christmas gift and give it to her before the Ball even occurred. Even though Rubeus already bought Cordelia a present, getting her some film wouldn't make or break him. As long as she was happy, and doing what she loved, then he'd be happy. And that was photography. "Are you going to save me a dance? If I go, of course." He was still unsure if he'd attend, or just stay hidden up in his room for the entire night.
Rubeus nodded. "Tons." He turned towards her more. "The school of course, fourth years and up I believe. And their dates, and the other two schools...and the staff, and the Aurors, and the Ministry..." He could go on, though he assumed Cordelia got the point. "You're going to be so busy! Do you need any help? There's so many people you'll need to get photos of, of course. You'll be working all night, Cordelia."

@jill5 It was great. She had been stockpiling for months for that exact reason, even going back into the summer a little bit when it was easier to find what she needed. There was only one store in Hogsmeade that sometimes held the rolls of film she used, and that was a very hard sometimes. Most of the time she would drain the supply the second it was available to her. Of course there was also begging her parents to send them via owl, but only Merlin knew what they would actually send her way. She could write the exact details for what film she needed and they would send her a box of printing paper. For a digital printer that muggles used. It astounded her sometimes, to the point where it was a little silly that they could get something so simple so wrong so many times in a row. Suffice to say, she had prepared for this months in advance, fully knowing that she didn’t want to rely on her parents lack of muggle knowledge potentially crippling her night of photographing an event that she would never participate in again.
“I g-guess I c-could. N-Not m-much of a d-dancer…” Though her balance was relatively good when she was trying to get certain shots. Walking through the halls was a different thing though, and more than not, Cordelia found herself on the floor after tripping over her own feet. She of course was not aware of how many people were going to be attending, the news only now being broken to her by Rubeus. That was a lot of people. More than a classroom, and definitely more than had ever been in the Great Hall at one time, even with the additional two schools. But that was something she was going to have to deal with if she wanted to take pictures. She was positive that once she got into the groove, it would be like those extra hundred or so bodies wouldn’t make a difference. As long as they didn’t try to talk to her. “Th-That is a l-lot. I th-think I’ll b-be fine. Hopefully.”

Rubeus chuckled. He didn’t really know anyone that was much of a dancer. But look at him! He was so large! So much taller than Cordelia, and was incredibly ditsy. He’d probably fall over his two gigantic feet if he tried to dance. ”Neither am I. I could just give you a piggy back around the Great Hall.” He continued to laugh quietly. Rubeus knew there would be more than a hundred people at this ball, of all ages, but he’d stick out like a sore thumb. He’d most likely be the only person towering over the rest.
”I know you’ll be fine, Lia. Don’t worry too much, just focus on what you want to take pictures of.” Rubeus smiled, his hand gently patting her leg. He took out his wand and sent all of his gifts into his room and underneath his bed. Turning to his friend he tilted his head at her. He knew she’d have a hard time at the Ball so Rubeus would probably try to stick by her as much as he could. ”I think I’ll head to bed now, Cordelia. So should you, get some sleep.” And with a smile, he gave her a light hug and moved quickly back up the stairs.

@jill5 “Th-That w-would m-make for s-some interesting shots…” Cordelia contemplated the idea of getting a piggy-back ride from Rubeus. He was rather tall, and she not so much. At least she was average height at most. She didn’t want to dance at the ball either way. There was too much to do, too much to photograph. Plus, she had already gotten her dance ‘fix’, if it could be called that, at the party that Lily had thrown. That had been really fun, but she was done with dancing for now. There were only so many times she could step on top of other people’s feet before she’d become a hindrance to them. She nodded her head as the other Hufflepuff stated that she would be fine as long as she focused on her goal. That was true. She would be. It was all a confidence thing at this point, and as long as she told herself she’d be fine in the large crowds, nothing bad would happen. At most, she could easily slip out and head back to the common room. It wasn’t too far away from the great hall anyways. As she thought about this, Rubeus stated that he was heading to bed, hugging her before standing up and leaving. “N-Night.” Glancing at the book she had been reading earlier, Cordelia moved back to the chair she had originally occupied. One more chapter in this and then she was going to be done for the night as well. [The End]
