Elias had Maria's gift resting on one of the tables. It was Christmas Eve, and he wanted to give it to her before tomorrow. It was a wonderful gift, probably one of the best he's ever given her, and he wanted her to have it sooner than later. She meant a lot to him, and Elias wanted her to know that, or at least feel it. The bracelet, which he bought with Cordelia a few weeks prior, was made of guitar string, and a bright red stone resembling fire.
Not only this, but he had a few questions for Maria that he desperately wanted answered. Which is why his owl to her asked her to meet him at The Greenhouse, so that no one would be able to hear. Except maybe the Hogwarts Headmaster. He probably had some spying plant in here so he could watch all the activity. At the thought of that, Elias smiled awkwardly and rose an eyebrow as he glanced around the room at all of the different things surrounding him.

An owl? You know, Elias could have just told her to meet him at the greenhouse. But he just had to be all official. Maria knew, of course, that he wanted to exchange Christmas presents today. Tomorrow was simply going to be far to busy between the ball and everything else. But that was alright with her, especially considering most Europeans, except the British apparently, exchanged and opened Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. Why should they change that just because they were in a foreign country this year?
So, Elias' own present tucked inside her warm fur lined coat that matched her Durmstrang uniform she left the ship and headed for the Greenhouse mentioned in his letter. Though... it did bring up an interesting question. Why the greenhouse? Upon entering the building Maria grinned at her cousin. "Hiding from your adoring fans?" she teased lightly.

@maria <3 His eyes immediately looked up as the doors opened, expecting to see a Professor there to tell at him. Thankfully it was just Maria, meaning he had nothing to worry about. He saw the gift she was carrying underneath her arm and grinned. "Ooooh a gift! Who must that be for?" Elias laughed and pulled out the small bag that had her gift inside and swung it back and forth.
As Maria asked about his so called fans he rose a brow and looked behind her. "Fans? What fans?" He had practically done horrible in the first task, the only one who might have fans is the Beauxbaton Champion, but Elias knew Anna did as well. "How are you? Keeping warm?"

Maria laughed and then smirked wickedly as he mentioned the wrapped present under her arm "Oh you know. Just my only and favorite cousin." Unlike Elias, she had no other family relations outside him and her grandparents. Meanwhile he'd found s plethora of half siblings upon coming to Hogwarts this year. Siblings Maria had made clear she didn't like but been a lot better about not being hostile towards them in the past few months.
Maria faked a loud gasp when he responded to her tease. "What fans?! Elias Reid Greyback, you have plenty of fans!" Maria scolded sternly, a hand planted on her hip. Elias might not see if but he had quite a few people rooting for him, regardless of his performance in th first task. as the conversation turned to how she was and staying warm she laughed. "Always." It was probably impossible to freeze a fire starter like her. "Good otherwise. Nothing new or out of the ordinary." she finished nonchalantly. It made her life sound so boring the way she spoke, but Elias knew that 'nothing new' could mean quite a bit.

@maria <3 He returned the smirk. "Well, good! For my one and only favorite cousin as well!" If Elias could've, he'd give Maria and his mother the world. Especially his mother. She was everything to him, whether she knew it or not. He held out the small bag towards Maria and nodded at it. "Go ahead, open it." He desperately hoped she liked it. It was a sudden gift that he had randomly found, but sudden was perfect and he hoped she loved it...Along with a another small thing that went along with it.
Her stance and words made him raise a brow and he shook his head. "Yeah, maybe a handful. You, Dominik, Odette...That's probably it." He hadn't done good, but his siblings also went to Hogwarts and they were most likely rooting for Anna. But he understood that. Maria then spoke of how she was and he nodded. "I've been okay, too... But I have had a lot of thoughts running through my brain..." Elias became quieter, nervous for how Maria was going to reply to his words.

Maria laughed as he returned the remark about being cousins. Of course she knew Elias felt the same way. Ever since first year the cousins had been best friends, and Elias knew (and had seen) that Maria would do anything for him. And now, as the only person other then their grandparents that knew about what happened to her parents, his Aunt and Uncle, he understood why she was so intensely protective of him. She didn't want to lose anyone else in her life.
Oh, when he held out her present she immediately took it, not needing to be told twice, before holding out his, wrapped simply. "At the same time." She insisted. It's been particularly difficult to come up with a present for Elias this year, but she'd finally decided on a thick, leather bound journal, thinking that he could use it to document his experiences and thoughts this year. Being champion and all.
Maria raised an eyebrow, and leaned against one of the tables in the greenhouse. "What sort of thoughts?" She asked curiously. He sounded... slightly troubled. A sound Maria did not like and always put her on guard. Was someone bothering him? What was it?

@maria <3 The feeling of Maria taking the gift out of his hands so fast made him jump slightly, his eyes widening. She was so fast sometimes. Chuckling quietly, he grabbed his own from her and nodded. It was very nicely wrapped, in paper that was quite glossy and light blue, with snowflakes all over it. Carefully, Elias began taking the tape off of each edge, not wanting to rip the paper. She had done such a wonderful job on it and he didn't want to ruin the time she had spent on it. As soon as the paper was off, Elias rose an eyebrow, pulling out the leather bound journal. He placed the paper on the table next to him and slowly ran his fingers across the leather and opened it up, taking a long breath of the smell. "This is amazing, Maria. I love it."
Elias watched her lean back against a table and he became incredibly nervous. Generally, when speaking with Maria he wasn't scared and he was very vocal. But...this was something Elias hadn't told anyone. It was something he was too scared to tell anyone and too nervous to even bring up to a person, especially his cousin. Although, he knew what her sexuality was, so he supposed it might be easier to talk to her about this. But what if it wasn't? What if it was bad and she had a terrible reaction? "Just...please don't judge me." His voice was quiet and low, and he wasn't sure if she heard every word he said. "What's...what's it like being bisexual?"

Maria ignored Elias' surprise. He should know by now how unpredictable and quick she could be. Or maybe it was because she was unpredictable that she seemed to be quick. Either way, she was excited to see just what Elias had gotten her. As her cousin meticulously unwrapped his own present, Maria was far less careful. It wasn't like she was going to save the decorative bag! What would she use it for? Soon though, she found the present inside and delicately pulled it out. The red stone was the first thing that caught her attention, and made her laugh. Red, of course. Fire. Maria didn't even realize she was grinning at first, but when she did, she pushed herself away from the table she'd been leaning against and moved towards her cousin. "I love it." She spoke just before leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek. She was a rather affectionate girl, after all! "Thank you." She added as she moved back to the table, this time sitting on the surface and pulling her legs up to cross them as she slipped the bracelet on. As he finally got a look at his own present she scratched the tip of her nose and looked away, a little embarrassed. "I figured... Well, with everyone going on it might be useful to have something to write down all your thoughts and experiences in." Being sentimental, unlike affectionate, was not a trait many people thought she possessed. She did, but only for those closest to her. At the moment that was just Elias.
Oh dear, the way he was acting, as if nervous and scared made both Maria's eyebrows raise and she leaned forward just a little, to hear those soft, barely audible words. Judge him? Why would she judge him? At this point she really had no idea what it was he wanted to talk about.... Until he finally asked the question. It took all Maria's will to stop herself from laughing, but she couldn't stop that grin. What was it like being bisexual? What sort of question was that? But, seeing just how serious he was, she realized that now was no time for teasing or joking. "You mean liking both men and women? Probably the same as being straight, only you don't limit yourself to one gender." She answered honestly. She'd personally never seen anything wrong with liking both genders, and she'd noticed that she'd liked girls about the same time as she realized she liked boys. Sure, their grandparents didn't approve whatsoever, but she'd never listened to them to begin with, why would she listen to them about this?

@maria <3 Elias' eyes widened when she finally ripped open her gift. What she did next he was completely expecting and couldn't help but laugh after she kissed his cheek. It was a perfect gift for Maria. "I'm glad you love it. There's also something else about it..." He tilted his head as he looked at it, but smiled at his cousin. "I put a charm on it. That way, if I'm ever in trouble or hurt, this stone will burn hot to let you know." Elias found it very helpful, and it might put some rest on Maria's mind. "I think this journal is perfect, and I can't wait to write in it. It'll definitely help."
As soon as Elias saw her grin he glared at her, but was very thankful that she hadn't laughed at him, which is what he had been expecting. This was nerve-racking for him and if Maria made fun of him it would be even worse. But, shockingly, her next sentence was somewhat helpful for Elias. "But... Is it seen as bad everywhere in the world? How do you know you're bisexual? Is it a bad thing?" He felt very embarrassed, his dark skin tone showing a red blush finally rising.

Maria turned the bracelet on her wrist, lightly brushing her fingers against the stone as Elias explained the enchantment he'd placed on the bracelet. Such a spell couldn't have been easy so the fact he'd gone to such lengths was... well nice if she was being honest! Maria cared deeply for her cousin, and had always tried to look out for him. She wanted him to be safe, and she'd do anything to make sure of that. So the bracelet being enchanted to grow hot when he was in danger? That was perhaps the greatest gift, because in her mind it was Elias saying he wanted her to be there. That maybe, if something terrible happened she'd be able to do for him what she couldn't do for her parents. Protect him. Make sure he didn't get hurt. "Just try to stay out of trouble then. Otherwise I'll know." she teased, though totally serious at the same time. If the bracelet ever grew hot, he knew she'd come running. "I made sure to fire and water proof it, just in case." Obviously Maria had no plans on setting the journal on fire, but sometimes the fire she created could be extremely unpredictable. Hence the precaution.
Maria ran her fingers through her hair as she forced that grin to disappear. Obviously the subject of sexuality was extremely important to Elias, even though Maria personally didn't find it to be nearly as big of a deal. "What's bad about being attracted to men and women? They both have different things to offer, it's only natural to not be fully satisfied with just one." she explained with a shrug. "As for how you know..." Maria stopped to think. To try and decide if there really had been a moment when she realized she liked girls as much as boys. "I just... knew. But it was easier to understand when I started dating and experimenting." Speaking this honest was strange. Normally she'd be blunt and straight forward about such a topic but her cousin's nervousness seemed to be making Maria more cautious, knowing that this was an important topic for him.

@maria <3 Maria liked the bracelet. That is what was important and it made him feel good. He finally was able to get her a gift she loved. And really, whether or not she loved the gifts prior in their years as children, Elias knew she wouldn't have told him that. Maria can be mean, but she isn't that mean. And the fact that the bracelet was so simple, yet had so much meaning behind it was what made it so much better than a regular bracelet. "I'll try. I just figured it would help with the tournament if you weren't able to see me." She also put a charm on his new journal and he flipped it around in his hands a couple of times before looking back up at his cousin.
"Well I don't think there's anything bad... But some other people might." He had enough to be judged for and hated with his name and him being a werewolf to have to be judged for his sexualities as well. Elias didn't find himself strong enough to do so. Really, the only contact Elias had had with a boy or girl was just Margaux. He had never kissed anyone else let alone do what he had don't with Margaux for the first time. Maria was being unusually understanding, but as he spoke again he looked down at his hands. "I haven't got much experience, other than Margaux... But, I think I might... Might have some feelings for a boy..."

Maria grinned as he mentioned the bracelet helping with the tournament, and if she wasn't able to see him. He was right. She hated not knowing. At least now she'd always know. She might tinker with the enchantment a bit, when she had time. Maybe manipulate it to have different levels of heat. Obviously there would be times when he was in pain that she didn't need to worry as much. It'd be good to know at what magnitude the pain or trouble was. But, she'd figure that all out later.
It was.... odd. Talking to Elias about the topic of sexuality. He'd never brought it up before, other than to scold her for her own promiscuity. It was no secret that she had no preference for gender, Elias knew that quite well. But they'd still never talked to much in dept about it. Or if they had it'd never been this serious. Elias sounded genuinely concerned and nervous. Almost desperate for answers. "To hell with those people." She retorted sharply when he said other people might think there was something bad or wrong with the behavior. "Why should it matter what they think?" She added, still just as harshly as the first comment. The idea that someone would think something was wrong with it immediately ignited her anger. Maria's rage was just like the fire she created, explosive, unpredictable, and it took only the smallest of sparks to ignite it. It wasn't that hot yet, thankfully. And when he spoke again, it was almost like the fire was doused with fire, the anger gone without a trace and leaving a rather stunned Maria.
Had Elias really just said that? Not the part about Margaux, she already knew abut that whole thing. As awkward as it was for both her and Elias to be attracted to, and intimately with, the same girl, Maria had chosen not to think to much about it. The part about Elias thinking he might have feelings for a boy. Elias had never given her reason to believe he might be like her, attracted to both genders. But he'd also never given her a reason not to believe it. That stunned look didn't last long, Maria recovering quickly. "So? What's wrong with that?" She asked.

@maria <3 Her reaction was definitely expected. Maria was always so headstrong and certain about her beliefs, as well as making sure other people were not judgmental about such beliefs. Elias had a rough time growing up, which was to be expected. As did Maria. Elias on the other hand tended to just ignore his peers as he grew older while Maria...well, set them on fire. He had gotten around at one point to tell her to calm down and stop doing such things, but it was still difficult. "It matters what they think because it has always mattered, Maria. It's never been easy for me, and adding this on top of it will make it worse." Elias couldn't say if people were more approving of sexuality than they were of his bloodline, but he knew Maria would say the same exact thing; to hell with them.
Maria's anger seemed to disappear as soon as he had muttered those last few words and he finally looked up at her, nervous as could be. He squeezed his hands together, fumbling with his fingers and bouncing his right leg over and over again. The silence was deafening to him, and it was making him even more worried than he should be. After she finally spoke, he coughed awkwardly and shrugged. "I don't find anything wrong with it...I just, I think I like him. I don't know, Maria."

Maria pushed herself off of the table,, her feet hitting the ground with a soft thump. Of course it mattered to Elias. He'd always cared about what everyone thought. Always tried to please everyone, even though he'd had a hard time making friends. Always so concerned about if people thought he was like his father. "It shouldn't matter because they don't matter. Who cares what everyone thinks? Why the hell should you change the way you are or the way you want to be for people that can't accept you, and will end up leaving anyway?" Okay, that'd been harsh, but it was true. Elias knew how Maria felt about most people, he understood why she had such extreme commitment issues and never let anyone get close enough to actually mean anything to her (other than him.). Maria was convinced that they'd leave. "You can't change who you are, Elias. So shouldn't your own opinion matter more than everyone else's?' She finished, managed to sound at least slightly more normal there and not so sharp.
Maria took a few steps towards her cousin. He really was torn up about all of this. Confused, unsure. "Then find out." She answered. He didn't know? That was fine. Maria didn't always know if she liked someone either. So she tested the waters to see. "What's the worse that can happen? You don't like the guy? At least you'd know. Don't you dare just ignore it and spend the rest of your life wondering 'what if'." Maria's definition of like and love was very different then Elias'. So, she wasn't using her definition of like here, but instead his. Elias wanted an actual relationship, meanwhile Maria was more focused on physical attraction, using said person, and then leaving before it got to serious.

@maria <3 Elias immediately gave Maria a small glare once she hoped off the table and began speaking in her angry tone. He knew she just cared about him, but sometimes it was a confusing attitude. Although, Elias had been around her long enough to realize which was which. Even so, he loved her and she loved him and her anger was just showing how much she cared. "I know Maria, I know. But can you blame me? You're you, I'm me! I'm not confident like you are, I'm not okay with who I am and this makes it even worse." Elias sighed in aggravation and turned away from her. Maria's tone of voice finally became somewhat softer but he was still annoyed with her reaction.
"The worst that could happen? Well, what if he...what if he likes me? He's said some things that sort of hint at it, I don't want to hurt him, Maria. I'm not like that. I won't ignore it, but I also...I also won't take the chance of hurting him. He's been a good friend." He knew Maria was completely opposite of him, going from person to person to relieve her own stress and to...well, have fun. It made him seem slightly like a hypocrite, as he had recently done that same exact thing with Margaux, but Elias had never done such a thing before. He hadn't even kissed a girl before, let alone everything he had done with Margaux. "I just didn't know what to do, Maria. And I'm scared."
