It was getting close to Christmas, and Dan and Irina were going to attend one of Louisas concerts. They had gotten permission to go, since Dan got it back in October. They got all dressed up, since it was a classical concert and all, and arrived at the theater in London. Things were still... tense between them, because Dan was struggling. But still, when he went to fetch her and have the auror escort them from the grounds, he was as gentlemanly as ever. He gave the man their tickets and offered his arm to Irina as they were shown to their seats. "Have you ever seen her play?" he asked. Irina Rose Krum@frederick @louisa

Half an hour before she and Dan were supposed to leave for Louisa’s concert and Irina was close to a panic attack. Half of the dresses she owned were strewn across the bed; she found a flaw with everything she tried on. Too short, too long, not the best color. In the end, Lily had come investigating and calmed Rina down. They had picked out a dress; a tea length off the shoulder gown in black, with red heels and a red lip for a pop of color. Rina had decided on a slicked back bun for her long hair; she’d always imagined looking this elegant for a concert. Still, there was a small nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach that she kept pushing away, unwilling to deal with it. Dan had looked handsome, but then again he always looked handsome. She wrapped her red silk shawl closer to her shoulders as they walked into the grand concert hall. “Individually, yes. She used to play piano for me when I practiced on the flute,” she told Dan with a small smile. “Though to hear her in concert will be lovely, amazing really,” she added, looking around the hall with an amazed sort of wonder. @frederick next @louisa @daniel dis dress

Freddie was ecsatic when his invitation finally came in the mail. He hadn't seen Louisa since the end of October, meaning almost two months. It was a musical performance of Romeo and Juliet. But that didn't mean that dancers wouldn't be there as well, or singers, or ushers, or whatever she was. He couldn't help but try to rack his brain to think if he ever heard her mention an instrument. Something in the back of his mind told him he had but... years ago, so faded now.
He was at the concert now, wearing a brown suit. No, not his normal corduroy and tweed one, he tried to be classier than that. Still his bow tie was bright purple and his shoes were a little scuffed up. He arrived at the concert hall and took his seat, eyes glues to the stage, his stomach almost bursting with anticipation. What did she play!?

Louisa was never nervous when it came to performances. No matter who was in attendance, or how prestigious the orchestra, or grand the theater. She always remained as calm and still as ever. In fact, in the music world she was known for being unshakable, taking everything in stride without even the slightest of hesitation. If she ever did get nervous though, Tonight would be the night. Her brother, Daniel, and Irina were in attendance. As was.... Frederick. Oh, just his name stirred up all that same confusion from before. But she pushed past it. She wouldn't let Daniel feel that, not tonight. She knew how he felt about her emotions. Before any guests had arrived Louisa had made sure to take a moment to meditate and relax again, to forget all her nerves from Frederick's presence. By the time the concert hall began to allow guests in Louisa was just as composed as always. Still as water, undisturbed.
It was Romeo and Juliet. The director had wanted something to new though. To not just focus on the story of Shakespear, but the emotion. In his mind, actors were distracting. And so, it was pure music. Telling the story from a different perspective. Despite their being no actors, Louisa had made sure to get all three of her guests good seats.
Soon, all the guests were seated and the lights dimmed. A moments silence, and the curtains opened. The orchestra was already seated, the conductor at the front. And Louisa? She was there too, already seated at the sleek black grand piano to the left of the conductor, eyes closed. If Dan could feel her emotions over the crowd he'd feel... Almost nothing. She was so still that almost no emotions seemed to be come off of her at all. Until the conductor raised his hands, to finally start the concert. Louisa's eyes opened, and the first emotion appeared as she began to play. Each emotion changed with each act, taking on what Louisa and the other musicians were trying to convey.

"Oh yeah, somehow I always forget that you play," he admitted to Irina. Once seated, he lifted the program to take a look and then laughed. This was just his luck. Romeo and Juliet. Come on, universe, he was in the middle of a crisis here! Still, he pointed out the title of the show to Irina. "Looks like Louisa's got love on the mind," he joked. Little did he know how true that was. Then the lights dimmed in the house and it was time for the show to start. His eyes found Louisa easily, especially since he knew she would be at the pain- holy mother of pearl. Dan gassed out loud, squeezing Irinas hand tightly as the music began to play. Someone in this audience, not far from him, was feeling an incredible flurry of strong emotions. Confusion. Excitement. Awe. Attraction. Love. More confusion. Panic. Fear. Awe again. It was like a loud ringing in Dans ears. He'd seen Louisa play before, of course, but never felt anything like this. Then it was time for a piano solo and Dan realized... The person was feelings those things for her. Irina Rose Krum@frederick @louisa

Irina had the grace to smile at Dan's comment. "I don't play nearly as much as I should, your sister would be disappointed in me," she said with a light laugh. She leaned in as she pointed out the title and raised an eyebrow. "Love, and the score itself is gorgeous. My mother took me to this ballet when I was...oh, I must have been eight? I've never heard it on piano though; with Louisa's skill it will be magical though," she told him, fondly thinking of a good memory of her and her mother. She was surprising herself with more of those lately; throughout her years at Hogwarts her communications with her mother had been argumentative at the best of times, poisonous at the worst. This year things seemed to have changed, and Irina was allowing herself remember the good parts of their relationship. She wondered if Dan had anything to do with that. As the lights dimmed, Irina looked around at the audience and spotted a man in a bright purple bowtie. What an odd choice; she bent over to point him out to Dan when the conductor made his way out to applause, so Irina turned her attention to the stage.
She was not disappointed; Louisa's playing was as wonderful as ever, more so really. With the years that had passed since she'd last heard the elder Hoh sibling play she seemed to have grown more talented, more at a happy ease while her fingers danced over the keys. Suddenly she heard a gasp and a sharp squeeze of her hand made Irina gasp aloud too. She leaned over to the source of this squeeze. "Dan? Is everything okay?" she breathed softly, making sure only he could hear her so as not to interrupt the performance.

Suddenly all of the sound was sucked out of the room for a brief moment when his eyes found her. Of course. Of course . She was sitting at the grand piano. She looked so calm, so peaceful, he didn't know how she could be that way. That part alone was amazing to watch. Then, the music came.
He didn't realize he was leaning forward on the edge of his seat, the way one would if watching an intense part in an action movie. His heart was beating a million miles a monute, his excitement uncontrollable. She was amazing.
Heaven almighty she looked beautiful. More than he ever thought before. But how... How could he possibly tell her he believed that? That he meant it? He loved her for that. Love, or something like it. He loved the way her fingers moved, the way her wrists bent. He wanted to bring those fingers to his lips, but was afraid of breaking them. He was afraid of handling anything so perfect. And the fact that he'd held them before. .. Well, he only hoped he had been gentle. In fact, he was horrified that he hadn't been.
Then her solo came, and suddenly his heart stilled. This was it. This was his end. His wife, the most exquisite creature on earth, was going to kill him.

Louisa hoped they'd found their seats alright. She'd hoped could have said something to them before the concert started, but it wouldn't have worked. Frederick would have simply distracted her and brought back all the emotions she'd put a tight lid on and her brother and Irina wouldn't have been able to arrive early enough with Hogwarts' security protocol.
As she played though, the entire world and concert hall melted away. She knew these pieces by heart. They'd been rehearsing for months. Her fingers flew across the keys as if that was all that mattered. And in a way? It was. Music wasn't just Louisa's job. It was her very soul. The air she breathed. And when she got to play? When she had the chance to share what she heard and felt with others. It was why she did any of this. Irina had always shared that interest with Louisa, and so she was happy Irina was there. To see how far Louisa had come. Dan was there, her little brother who she loved dearly and always shared her music with. Frederick was here, a man that both confused and fascinated her at the same exact time.
There were a few parts where Louisa would stop playing, and just listen to the Orchestra, waiting for her next part. But before long she'd be playing again, pouring the emotions she seems incapable of expressing into each and every note. There'd been a short intermission, to give the musicians a break but not long enough for Louisa to go out to check on any of her guests. The second act was just as breathtaking as the first. And then, all to soon, the last notes rang through the concert hall, and died. The applause was deafening as Louisa and the other musicians stood up and bowed. This was the part that made her uncomfortable. When she was expected to stay on stage and acknowledge the entire hall as they clapped. Some would wave, or smile, or something. Not Louisa. She just placed her hands on top of each other and bowed her head enough to not be blinded by the spotlights. This would be the first blip of emotion Daniel might feel off her tonight, if he could even feel them over everyone else, that was actually her own and not from the music. Embarrassment, awkward, and almost shy. She just never got used to it. And the moment it was appropriate, she left the stage.
Finally back stage, Louisa hurried to her dressing room. She'd given Dan, Irina, and Frederick back stage passes. and told the security guard that she was expect a few visitors. He would show them back when they were ready. Still in her concert attire, Louisa picked up one of her wrist braces and slipped in onto her left hand. While ambidextrous at this point, her left wrist had always been weaker than her right, and playing for that long could strain it a little. Definitely not something she wanted. She'd just finished securing it when the door opened.

Dan barely heard Irina speak, the feelings were so loud. How could one person possibly feel all of that?! They had to be completely mad. "Fine," he muttered back, but his eyes were scanning the ground. Everyone seemed pretty normal about this. No one was - there. . Two rows down. A man in a brown suit and a purple bow tie, at the edge of his seat. Who in the flying hippogriff was that? Dan turned back to the concert. To Louisa. He would deal with this later. For now, he would attempt to just enjoy watching his big sister he was so proud of. Soon, the concert ended. "Come on, he said, tugging Irina toward the exit, following the purple bow tie man. He didn't even realize that he was heading the same way they were supposed to be, toward backstage. But the guy got their first and... He had a pass too? They let him in, then Dan pressed forward. Irina didn't believe him for a second; of course he wasn't 'fine', she knew that and knew he knew she knew that too. She followed his gaze as it went to the man in the purple bow tie that she had been tempted to point out for his bold fashion statement earlier. How strange that their attention when to the same man; he must have been feeling something terribly strong to garner the reaction he did from her boyfriend.
She turned her attention back to the concert, and lost herself in the music again. It was a peaceful place to be and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't a little sad when it was over. Irina was on her feet applauding the orchestra - for Louisa she clapped exceptionally hard - when Dan's hand had grabbed hers again and was tugging her towards backstage. Louisa had given them passes of course, and Irina had conjured a bouquet of lilies discreetly when people weren't paying attention to give to her after the concert. The man in the purple bow tie seemed determined to get backstage as well; Irina was surprised when he showed the guard his own backstage pass. More curious than ever, Irina let herself be guided backstage with Daniel as they showed their passes and followed the mystery man backstage.

Freddie definitely didn't notice anybody behind him. Especially not the fact that anybody was following him. His mind was set, he had to get to Louisa, to tell her how great she was, and to react to the surprise of what her job was. He, being Freddie, would probably act as ecstatic and excited as he felt even if Louisa would not return the same type of emotional level. He thought he was starting to understand that though, that it wasn't really a problem... Unless, she was just that way with him? He couldn't be sure.
He approached the backstage door and showed his pass, and was let inside. They let him back to the room where he would find Louisa, and he just knocked lightly once on the door before pushing it open. She had a brace on her arm and for a moment, he panicked, but then he realized it was probably standard for most musicians to have some form of carpal tunnel or pain after a long concert. He took in a deep breath nodding his head in greeting and giving a short bow.
"Well, that, my dear, was quite lovely." He took a few more steps into the room shutting the door behind him, not knowing that someone else was coming down the hall. "I can't say I'm not disappointed in myself for not guessing," he confessed to her, "but it does seem rather fitting," he said, realizing that the music spoke for her. That the music was her emotions that she didn't show on her face. He smiled again, his little half-smile growing into a goofy smirk.

Louisa should have been surprised that Frederick had managed to get backstage first but she wasn't. Considering how excited and animated he was it was almost expected. We was a little worried about Daniel though. A concert this large was bound to give him some problems with his empathy. Hopefully he and Irina showed up soon.
She stood as he entered the room, offering a small smile as he spoke. "Would you have considered to guess 'Concert Pianist'?" she asked in response as her head tilted a little to the side. It was a very, very difficult career to get into. And at the level she was at? Even more so. Louisa had been incredibly lucky to have been mentored by a world renowned pianist who was able to get her this far. Fitting was almost an understatement. It was more than that. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself." she added politely. Glad he came was more like it, but she wouldn't say that or even let herself feel it right now. She was keeping a very tight lid on her emotions.

Dan was a little bit behind, but at least the guys moods had calmed down. He was led to a door up ahead and he went in before them. Dan stopped, turning to Irina, "that guy is incredibly fascinated with my sister. And if she gave him a backwards pass..." did Louisa have a boyfriend!? Dan wasn't sure if she'd outright tell him if she did, but he still felt strange not knowing what that guy was doing here and who he was. "All right," he said, mostly to himself, before moving down the way and opening the door himself. The man was there, talking with Louisa. Dan let go of Irina's hand to cross to his sister, "that was amazing, Lou," he said upon reaching her, giving her s short hug. Her emotions were completely in control, as far as he could tell... Almost too much. It was a little bit freaky. Dan turned toward purple bow tie man and gestured, "and you are?"Irina Rose Krum@louisa @frederick

Irina raised an eyebrow in surprise as Dan finally slowed down enough to explain what exactly was going on. Louisa was a beautiful woman, and she had figured eventually she’d find someone to share part of her life with. Louisa was so passive though that Irina also believed that when she did find that special someone, telling her family would be different than how Dan would handle the situation. Complete opposite really. “Okay,” was all she managed to get out before they entered the room.
Immediately Irina could sense something was going on between the mystery man and Louisa; call it womans’ intuition if you will but it was pretty obvious to her. Regaining her composure, she waited for Dan to hug his sister before offering Louisa a hug herself. “These are for you. Thank you so much for getting us tickets, your playing is magically captivating as always,” she said with a bright smile. She then turned to the other guest in her room; Dan didn’t introduce himself but that didn’t shock Rina. “Hi, I’m Irina and this is Louisa’s brother, Dan,” she did the introduction for both of them, extending her hand for him to shake.

Freddie laughed as she spoke, "I don't think I would have been that specific, no. But at least I should have guessed an instrument! Foolish of me." She said she was glad he enjoyed himself and he nodded, but before he speak, the door opened again.
A boy and girl came in, the boy seeming incredibly... intense. Lou. He called her Lou. Who was the kid? The girl offered Louisa flowers, and Freddie mentally cursed himself for not whipping some up on his way here. Or, better yet, buying some.
The boy asked, rather harshly, who he was, and the girl - clearly his girlfriend - cut in to give their names. Oooh, Louisa's brother. That was... awkward. He reached out to take her outstretched hand, but didn't shake it, instead kissing the back of her hand before releasing it. "Irina, lovely to meet you. And Dan," he raised an eyebrow at Louisa before looking at her brother, "a pleasure."
