Magdalena couldn't imagine what that must be like. Seeing the future, good or bad. And from what it sounded like? It was mostly bad. To see something that you don't want to come to pass and yet it still did. Like Nikolai getting stabbed. To have to wait and see if it actually happened or not. "I think you wouldn't have the ability if it was all bad. Sometimes things blessings can look like curses." Magdalena might not be clairvoyant, but she had inherited the Ollivander memory, the ability to recall details that a normal person couldn't. Her father and grandfather both had had the ability to recall every wand they'd ever made, ever sold, and who it had been sold to. Magi wasn't selling wands, but her memory was just as sharp. Good memories and bad.
As Irina blushed, probably at the memory of whatever positive vision she'd had, Magi smiled just a little. Whatever she'd seen, it must be nice. Magi wouldn't push it, deciding Irina deserved to keep the good things to herself.
Nikolai was interested in healing. More than she'd first thought when he told her he liked the magical art. After he'd told her she'd started to notice all the books in his study. "That and he can be a total stick in the mud. Always sticking to the rules..." Which was a good thing. It really was. But Magdalena had been a free spirit ever since graduating, and she wasn't a fan of being told what to do.

Irina shrugged a little with a frown. “So far it’s all been pretty bad; it’s possible some of my older dreams that I can’t remember came true that were good but I cannot say for sure.” She sat back, lost in thought a little. Finally, after a few moments she shook her head. “I can’t wrap my head around it sometimes, do you mind if we talk about something else?” she asked with a small smile.
A waiter came over to see if they wanted anything to eat; true to form Irina ordered a plate of fries. “Please have some,” she offered Magi as the waiter walked away to put in her order. She laughed at Magi’s comment of Nikolai. “I think it comes with being the eldest child, particularly the only boy of four children too. He and I used to get into loads of arguments when we were kids. It didn’t help that we’re both stubborn to a fault, I think we rather drove our parents mad sometimes.” The fries came out and Irina’s stomach rumbled. Carefully she took some ketchup and some mayonnaise and mixed the two together to create her favorite dipping sauce. “Cheers,” she said, toasting a fry towards Magi and popping it into her mouth. She swallowed and took a sip of her hot chocolate. “Do you have some names you’re musing through?” she asked the other girl curiously.

Magdalena nodded as Irina spoke, explaining how she still couldn't understand it all and wanted to talk about something else. Magi wouldn't push it. Something like this, seeing visions of the future.... Magdalena couldn't get her head around it either. She had no idea what it was like, or what Irina might be going through. Hopefully one day it would all work out. After all, Irina was still a teenager and had plenty of time to figure all of this out.
Ugh, food. Even though Magdalena was at the end of her first trimester she was still suffering from bad nausea. Today wasn't a particularly bad day but that didn't make it good either. "Uh, no thanks." She managed to answer with a shaky smile. Her stomach churned a little at the thought. "I think it'd be safer to stick with just hot chocolate for now." She finished answered and raised the cup to her lips to take a sip from said hot chocolate. Though she smiled as Irina mentioned Nikolai being the oldest of four, and how they were both stubborn. "Maybe that's why I have such an aversion to rules then. It's just me and my brother, and he's so much older than me it's more like having another parent rather than sibling." Not that Magdalena was complaining. But she couldn't really... well relate to people well when it came to siblings since there was a 17 year difference between the Ollivander siblings. She wondered how he was doing.... But immediately stopped that train of thought and glanced back down at the cup. She hadn't spoken to her brother in months and... she still couldn't bring herself to go see him.
The food was brought out for Irina and thankfully Magdalena's stomach didn't unsettle by the smell. "Uh... I haven't put much thought into it yet. We'll find out at the end of January the gender, so we might just wait until then to discuss names." Between everything else that had been going on Magdalena hadn't even stopped to consider that she and Nikolai needed to figure out a name.

Irina nodded in understanding; she'd heard that morning sickness could last all day and not just in the morning, and it could make eating rather unpleasant. "Just let me know if the smell bothers you and I can box it up to go," she told her. She listened as Magi explained that she had such a large age gap between her and her brother so she'd had more of an aversion to the rules. "Honestly, I didn't know you had an elder brother; he must be quite a bit older than you," she mused, taking a sip of her own hot chocolate. Perhaps fries and hot chocolate didn't mix for some people, but Irina liked the combination for some strange reason. "Does...does he know about..." she trailed off, nodding to her. She knew from Niko that Magdalena's relationship with her parents was far from perfect, but she had no idea what her brother relationship was like.
As she popped a french fry into her mouth, Irina was surprised to learn that in just a month she'd know if she'd be getting a niece or a nephew. What a strange thing to think about; she had had the last few weeks to swallow the news that her nineteen year old brother was going to be a father, but she really hadn't thought about how that meant she was going to be an aunt to the tiny newcomer. "What about that have you guys discussed? Niko's house is obviously big enough for...plenty of people shall we say," she asked, then laughed a little. "I'm sorry, please stop me if you feel I'm prying too much," she told her, putting her hands up. Irina was a curious person and she knew right now it was certainly getting the better of her.

Magdalena grinned and shrugged. "Smells haven't been bothering me that much to be honest. Unless it your brother's banana pancakes. Ever since I got sick off them that one time I haven't been able to stand even the smell of them and make him air out the kitchen everytime he makes them." And Nikolai loved them... Way too much for his own good. Which obviously didn't help her nausea. But at least he was happy when he had them! A happy Nikolai made her life much easier.
It wasn't that surprising that Irina didn't know about her brother. "Seventeen years older." He'd been in his final year at Hogwarts when she was born. "I was a bit of an accident." She added with a little smirk. Oh, her parents had tried for years after her brother to have another child but given up long before she'd been born. Then, the real question. Or rather, the one that Irina didn't manage to finish asking. Did her brother know about the pregnancy. Magi's gaze dropped to the table and her expression hard. "I haven't spoken to him since May." If he knew about the pregnancy that'd be a shock. She should tell him... Before.... Before she started to show too much.
She and Nikolai should.... probably discuss name options. Dear heavens, naming the child felt like a huge weight on her shoulders. How could they possibly have such a burden? The child's future was basically dependent on Magi and Nikolai's naming skills! Letting out a deep sigh, Magi ran a hand through her hair. "Not much to be honest.... We're still getting used to the whole idea. We've been reading some books but nothing really... concrete." She shrugged, feeling that same wave of embarrassment that she always did when she realized just how unprepared they were.

Irina wrinkled her nose in disgust solidarity with Magi. "Bananas and I don't really get along; their flavor is a bit too strong for my liking. He usually just makes me chocolate chip pancakes, sans banana," she said, giggling a little. Nikolai was the best cook out of the four Krum siblings by far; Magi had that going for her at least. "At least he cooks, and well," she reasoned, throwing her big brother a small bone. Speaking of brothers, ahh. That's why Irina had never met or heard of Magi's brother. "That's...pretty much the complete opposite of us, popped out one year after the other and the other," she said, chuckling. She had grown up used to having siblings so close in age; she sometimes wondered how her parents had managed four children under the age of five at once. There were a lot of things she had realized might have been a bit tough on her parents when they were kids, including when her nightmares started at the age of six. "Accidents are not always a bad thing," she said, returning the smirk. Wasn't that the truth?
Irina's smile faded a little when Magi said she hadn't spoken to her brother since May. From what Nikolai told her....that was around the time she'd lost her mother if she was correct. "Siblings fight, they stop speaking to each other. Just look at Niko and I," she said, shaking her head with a small smile. "But...do you want him in your...well your familys' life?" she asked her, meaning her new family; Magi, Nikolai and the baby.

Magdalena couldn't help but laugh at Irina's admittance that she didn't like bananas. "And your brother didn't disown you? That's impressive." She was absolutely postive that, given a choice, Nikolai would make banana pancakes daily, and for every meal. She could tolerate his obsession though, considering he had to tolerate her hot chocolate addiction. Thankfully she was usually able to convince him to make a variety of other things. He was definitely the more talented cook out of the two of them. Except crepes. She'd always be better at those them him. "And enjoys cooking." She added.
Nodding as Irina mentioned the differences in their family, Magdalena couldn't help but think about her childhood. A brother old enough to be her father. Her playmates growing up had always been the other children in Diagon Alley. Those who's parents also owned shops. "It's opposite most families." She agreed. Though as for accidents not always been bad... Magdalena smiled just a little. "It's an accident that's giving you a niece or nephew."
Magdalena's eyes focused on the grain of the wood of the table, refusing to move up and look at Irina in that moment. "We aren't fighting." She admitted quietly. No, not a fight. Nothing bad had necessarily happened between her and her brother... "I've never had any problem with my brother. It's... I couldn't go back. To that house. To that shop. To anything that reminded me of my mother. Not after what happened." Not after her murder. The murder that her father was currently in Azkaban accused of. "I haven't been able to face him..." She chose not to answer if she wanted her brother in her life, and the baby's. Because the answer was yes. A resounding yes. But how was she supposed to do that?

Irina just laughed at Magi's disowning comment. "Nope, no disowning going on there," she said with a smile. "I like most everything else he'll use to cook with so he gives me a pass about the bananas. Though I'm pretty sure the first time he remembered there was quite the expression he had on his face," she added, laughing again a little. Magdalena was definitely lucky that Nikolai not only cooked, but was a good cook at that. She didn't know if Dan cooked much or not; she knew he knew how to cook pasta but that wasn't entirely difficult to do. "You said you're good at baking though right? That's something," she told her, offering up something to even them out a little.
Irinas' smile disappeared as Magi admitted she hadn't been back since her mothers death. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up any old wounds," she said softly. She knew Magi had been through a lot after the death, Nikolai hadn't gone into detail but from Magi's mannerisms it was pretty obvious she was still hurting. "And its' a happy accident niece or nephew, thank you very much," she added, trying to make her smile. She liked Magi and she was a good fit for her elder brother. So they happened to get pregnant before they turned twenty, was it really going to be the end of the world? She didn't think so. "I hope, when you're ready that my brother does introduce you to our mum, I think she'd like you quite a lot," she added. Elena Krum seemed to have a special place for children that weren't her own sometimes; Irina had no doubt the Quidditch player would take a liking to Magdalena. "And my dad, he's the one who likes to hear me play the flute, so there's that," she offered up in honor of her dear old father.

"He must think there is something wrong with the women in his life." Magdalena mused thoughtfully. She didn't know how the rest of his sisters were with bananas. But his oldest sister and girlfriend both disliked his banana pancakes. That wasn't very good odds. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you looked at it.) Magdalena didn't really care. And, if his luck kept up their child would probably hate them too. She'd read somewhere that babies were more likely to dislike foods that had caused problems for their mother during pregnancy. That could be a total myth though. "Uh, I'm good at crepes. But that's about it." She should probably work on that sometime...
Magdalena still didn't look up for several moments. It was still hard, even though it'd been months. Remembering what happened... It still stirred up those emotions and feelings. It'd been getting a little easier, but that is because of Nikolai. She could finally play the piano without bursting into tears of clamming up and refusing to open up for anyone. and she could read wandlore books without forgetting how to breath. Progress... But still.. Everything felt raw no matter how much time had passed. "No... It's fine." She forced herself to say, hoping that if didn't sound nearly as troubled as she felt. The last thing she wanted was to make Irina worry or feel bad.
Magdalena did smile a little as Irina called the baby a happy accident. She still didn't know how Nikolai's parents would react to this whole thing, or even her own family (when she did tell them.) But as for meeting his parents... All she could do was nod at the thought, feeling a touch of anxiety at that. That was going to be a very awkward meeting... Meeting their son's girlfriend and mother of their future grandchild at the same time....

Irina laughed along with Magi at her brothers’ thoughts on bananas. “Truth be told he’s probably the odd one out,” she digressed, still laughing as she sipped on the last dregs of her hot chocolate. “Crepes are definitely not a bad thing to be good at making. I remember when we went to Paris eating a Nutella crepe. Not Nutella and some kind or fruit or whipped cream even, just plain Nutella. One of the best things I’ve ever eaten,” she reasoned, her stomach almost grumbling at the memory of the crepe. She remembered it clearly; it was just off the Metro stop by the Eiffel Tower and was served in a cone-like wrapping to eat hands free. Oh Merlin was it delicious. “Well the next time we stop by you’ll have to make them,” she decided, before realizing that that was most likely the plan the night she and Dan had come to spend the night, only to leave abruptly in the middle of it all after an argument with Nikolai.
Irina’s mouth twisted into a small frown; she couldn’t imagine what it must have been like for Magi to lose her mother. Even if Irina didn’t always see eye to eye with her own mother, she knew just how devastated she’d be if she died suddenly. It must have been even worse for her father to have been accused of the crime. Irina wondered if Magi thought her dad was guilty but knew better than to ask. “You’ll be fine, they’ll see how much Nikolai loves you and how happy the two of you are together and know that everything happens for a reason,” Irina promised. Truth be told she had no idea how her parents would react, but they did love Nikolai, and Nikolai loved Magi. She checked her watch and sighed a little. “I promised Dan I’d meet him for lunch back up at the castle,” she said with a soft smile. She stood up, then reached over to give Magi a hug. “I’ll come by as much as I can to come see how you’re doing, and let me know if you need anything,” she told the other girl.

Magdalena laughed at the idea of Nikolai being the odd one out. He was. Most definitely. "He is the only boy." she noted in agreement. That alone made him a bit different then the rest of his siblings. As for making crepes sometime... she just smiled a little and nodded. Who knew when that would be. But she could definitely do that.
People said that a lot. When they found out about her parents. That it'd be fine or alright. Hardly did it ever seem like people meant it past a formality. She knew Irina did mean it though. Magi glanced back up at Irina with a hard to read expression and nodded again. Honestly Nikolai had helped a lot in her coping. He didn't know what it was like, but he knew intense trials. They'd had to overcome so much together. To help each other get past their pasts. Sure they'd never be completely past them but they had definitely improved.
At the menion of Dan, Magdalena's little sly smirk returned. She refrained from any comments though, instead standing up from the table to return the hug. "Go on before your boyfriend worries. Boys are needy like that. I'll see you around later." she promised with a smile. No doubt Nikolai was home already so she might as well go keep him company.
