Maria hadn't been in the mood to entertain any dates this trip to Hogsmeade, having learned her lesson (at least for now) because of the last time. The boy had turned out to be annoying as hell and she'd almost set him on fire. This trip she was in a considerably better book, thank goodness, and was currently trying to find a suitable Christmas present for Elias. He'd always been difficult to get something for. Especially as they got older. As she wandered the streets of Hogsmeade, she wrapped the shawl around her shoulders a little tighter. The cold never bothered her much, but dark and red shawl went with her skin tight dark jeans and boots And she was vain enough to care about her outfit matching. Though even with the shawl she looked under dressed for the weather, but she didn't care.
Every few minutes she would stop to peer through a shop window, thinking if something inside might be appropriate for a Christmas present. Each time though she would just sigh and shake her head. No, she wanted... Well something more... personal. It was their final year as students, and Elias had a big year with the tournament. She wanted to get him something more... sentimental. Hah, her, sentimental. Maria never would have thought she'd use that word. None the less, she was determined to find something that Elias would really like.
(as a side note, this is the trip right before Christmas)

@maria <3 Hogsmeade had become a favorite place of Samuel's to be. He wasn't sure what it was; the sound of children, the reminiscent memories of being at Hogwarts, or just the area and stores themselves that always brought him back. That one coffee shop he had been at the last time was usually his first stop. Their coffee had become one of his favorites, and he got a bagel to go. The owners and employees who worked there knew him by name, which he found quite nice.
It was cold out, and he personally was not a fan of the Winter or the cold. So he was fairly bundled up. He had on his Ministry robes and his long cloak, and to keep himself a bit warmer he also added on a dark grey scarf. Samuel's dreadlocks fell around him. He would usually have them up after leaving work, but he cold air bothered his ears and neck so he left them down for today. He had planned on going home, but something stopped him. Or more like someone. Samuel slowly smirked to himself, contemplating whether to say something or to walk away, but he couldn't help and go speak with the girl called Maria. "Looking for someone to set on fire, Blaze?"

Maria was stopped in front of a shop, staring inside when she heard a voice from behind her. Blaze, obviously they meant her. People always used fire related nicknames for her. But the voice? it was oddly familiar, though she couldn't put a face to the voice immediately. Tilting her head back so she could see behind her, mild surprise crossed her expression. The dreadlocks guy from the last trip. The one she called 'Santo' because he refused to give her his name. She'd left their last encounter on a bad note, hence her surprise that he'd spoken to her first. Slowly she took a step away from the shop window and turned to face him, flashing an innocent smile. "What, are you volunteering?" She answered with a teasing tone. Obviously she wasn't holding a grudge despite having been thoroughly pissed off at him last time. "I'll have you know, I don't actually set things, or people, on fire nearly as often as you seem to think." She had a promise to uphold, after all. Best behavior this year.
Flicking her hair off her shoulders she tilted her head as she looked him up and down. He was far better dressed for the cold than she was, and yet he managed to still look cold. "So? Is this just a chance meeting or are you here to make sure I don't start any more fires?" She added, that teasing tone still there.

@maria <3 Her surprised reaction was enough to make Samuel smile, but he kept his eyebrows raised in a questioning fashion. Maria had finally taken the time to face him, this time with a smile. If shock wasn't obvious on her face anymore, it was on his. Well, she wasn't upset with him anymore. But that didn't mean she wouldn't be by the end of this meeting. Not that Samuel would deliberately anger her... Although it was fun. "I'm not volunteering, no. But I wouldn't be upset if you set something on fire to keep me warm." Samuel just hated cold.
"What are you looking for?" His Scottish accent was very thick, just like his father's. Samuel obviously noticed her looking him up and down, possibly to see what would be the best place to start the fire first. "It's a chance meeting, though the latter sounds much more like I'm looking out for the human kind."

Maria laughed. Oh, so he liked her fire affinity when he was cold? That sounded pretty familiar. Basically people didn't like the fire... up until they needed it. Margaux was one exception. But that might be from her Veela blood, or maybe it was simply because she liked how dangerous fire could be. Thankfully Maria hadn't burned the other girl yet. "Really? You're cold in this weather? It's practically boiling." She teased as she unwrapped her shawl a little, making it look as if she was warm. She wasn't, but she wasn't cold either. "Sorry, I don't think it'd be appropriate for me to warm you up. I tend to reserve that particular perk for my more intimate encounters." She added with a wicked grin and a sly touch to her voice. It wouldn't be hard to guess what 'intimate encounters' meant.
As he continued to ask what she was looking for she glanced back at the shop closest to them, eyeing the merchandise in the window with a scrutinizing look. "A christmas present." Just one. For Elias. She didn't have anyone else that she considered important enough to get one for. She glanced back at him out of the corner of her eyes. "What about you?"

@maria <3 Samuel scoffed at her. Cold? Of course he was cold! "Ugh. That's terrible. It's winter. I hate winter." He just now realized how under dressed Maria was, and he shivered as he saw the small amount of clothing she had on. But, it made sense he supposed. With the warmth of the flames she had inside of her. "Never mind then. I am definitely not one of those, nor will I ever be." He smiled genuinely back at her. Anyone could see Maria was a beautiful girl, but he had his own personal morals. None of them including sleeping with young girls.
"For whom?" Maria turned back to him and asked the same question. Samuel, grinning brightly, held up the coffee and the bag with his bagel in it. "My favorite coffee of course." He wouldn't be able to go a day without it. Which is why he was always in Hogsmeade. "Isn't it a little late to be Christmas shopping? It's only a few days away."

Maria shrugged at his hatred for Winter. She personally didn't like winter much, but between it not affecting her much and being used to harsher winters, this was nothing. "You call this winter? Please, this is mild compared to Durmstrang." She stated matter-of-factly. There was a reason the Durmstrang uniform coats were lined with fur. His verbal retreat from her next comment made her laugh even more. She'd never seen that reaction before! Such a speedy retreat! It'd been so entertaining that she wasn't offended by the fact that he'd basically stated he'd never sleep with her. Normally she'd take such a statement rather personally. "You sound pretty sure of that." She managed to answer once she stopped laughing.
"Elias." She stated, as if it was obvious. She had mentioned her cousin during their first meeting. They'd even talked a little about her cousin. Well, sort of. More like he tried to convince her to involve Elias with learning to control her ability and her shutting down that idea very quickly. The coffee and to go bag made it obvious where he'd been. That cafe they'd met at before. "You come all the way from wherever it is you work or live for coffee?" She asked as she raised an eyebrow. Though when he mentioned it being late to do Christmas shopping she scowled just a little. Not angry, but more... annoyed by the fact that he was right. "Elias isn't the easiest person to shop for." She explained. It wasn't that she hadn't been trying before now. Just that she hadn't found anything.

@maria <3 "Yes, I call this Winter. And if it's so mild, then that's wonderful for you. However, I've never enjoyed this weather. Now, Autumn, that's where it's at." Samuel smiled at the thought, but shivered at the way his body felt. Never could he imagine living in these conditions constantly. At least Maria was staying warm, and he just hoped the rest of the Durmstrang students did as well. They must be having a field day with the Winter that was occurring here. And then she began laughing hysterically, and his eyebrows furrowed together. "I am pretty sure of that. I don't have intimate encounters. Ever."
Ah, the boys name was Elias. If Samuel could recall, he might have heard that name around the Ministry. Even his face appeared in his mind, knowing just exactly who Elias was. "Not the easiest person? Well, what does he like? Does he have any hobbies? Or, you could get him something to help him in the tournament." Samuel shrugged, sipping the coffee in his hand that she questioned. "I don't live that far so it's not too terrible of a walk. I just left work, at the Ministry." He rose an eyebrow and continued sipping the coffee as he watched her.

Maria smirked as he defended his dislike of winter. Again, she disliked it as well. She should be agreeing with him, but where was the fun in that? "Aw, what do you have against winter?" She teased lightly with a small pout. As he countered her question though she laughed again. "So 'Santo' fits you quite well then." Had he looked up what the word meant since their last meeting? It was Portuguese for 'Saint'. The longer she spoke to him the more accurate the name seemed to become. Though the fact that he said he wouldn't have intimate encounters ever caught her interest. That hadn't been a statement for just her. He'd meant it for everyone. "What do you have against them?"
She pursed her lips together as she thought. Elias' hobbies, likes, or something to help with the tournament. Sure, he knew what Elias liked, but she didn't want to get something he would be expecting. "To predictable." She answered honestly. Like, she wanted him to like his gift, but not something he'd forget or get over quickly. Taking a step away from the shop window she sighed and ran a hand through her hair. Just what was she going to get Elias? Thankfully his answer helped distract her from her thoughts. "The Ministry?" It shouldn't surprise her, quite a few Witches and Wizards worked at the Ministry. But it also made her wonder just how old he was. She'd refused to divulge her own age during their last meeting, so obviously she hadn't gotten his either. "What do you do there?"

@maria <3 Her attitude was definitely a change from the last time he had seen her. She was all giddy and happy and practically making fun of him. Though, he might of assumed that she was just a pain, and he wondered how her parents and family dealt with her. "What I have against it is the cold. It's terrible. The worst thing I can imagine being is cold." Samuel tilted his head at Maria, his eyelids lowering. "Well I'm glad you think so." He hadn't looked it up. Samuel had actually forgotten until now. "Nothing against them. But they should be saved for a person you truly love, someone you can put your entire soul into. Being so bare like that...it's not for everyone you meet." He particularly couldn't believe that at such a young age, she would have many intimate relationships.
Predictable? "Well if it's too predictable why are you questioning it? There has to be something he'd enjoy. Especially if it's from his family." Samuel didn't know the boy. He didn't know anything about him besides what the papers said, and whatever Maria has told him about him. She then asked about what he did at the Ministry and he glanced at her, smiling slightly. "I'm an Unspeakable in The Department of Mysteries." Samuel watched her intently, waiting to see her reaction.

Valid point. Maria didn't like being cold either. "Good point." She offered with a nod. She definitely preferred being warm.
Both eyebrows raised and a surprised looked crossed her expression as he spoke about 'true love' and putting your 'entire soul' into someone. He must be a romantic, a true love romantic, that still believed it existed. Maria wasn't so easily convinced. "We can't all believe in fairytale endings like that." She slowly answered. No, Maria hadn't believed in 'true love', or even just regular love since her parents. How could she? "Besides, I don't sleep with everyone I meet. Just the good looking ones." She shrugged, forcing that dark emotion from before the disappear.
She let out a sigh and shrugged again. "Well that's the problem isn't it? I want to get him something he can use and will like for a while, and not just something... temporary." Sentimental. She wanted to say she wanted to get him something sentimental, but she wasn't quite ready to say the word aloud. She might not care about most people, but she cared about her cousin. Was it silly to want to get him something special? That surprise returned when he answered her question. Partially because he did answer, but also because of what it was. She'd read up on all the departments at the Ministry, since she'd be graduating at the end of the year and needed to decide what she wanted to do, and the Department of Mysteries was, obviously, the most secretive. Those that worked there couldn't speak about their work to anyone outside the department. Slowly she grinned. "Sounds exciting." She wouldn't push for information, since he couldn't actually give her much.

@maria <3 Scoffing, he shook his head. "It's not a fairytale, Maria." Her name rolled off his tongue. He couldn't believe she thought that way! Yes Samuel had met many people who don't take that type of affection and love seriously, but Samuel needed to. He had a rough few years after he left Hogwarts, specifically for letting someone see his whole self so deeply and intimately that he couldn't take back what had happened. "Good looking people don't provide love. They provide small moments of satisfaction. They don't show you loyalty and truthfulness."
"So why don't you get him some type of journal? He can use it for awhile, and keep it, and go back on it and read what he had written in the future." Samuel moved so that his back was up against the brick wall in front of Maria, now looking at her and drinking his coffee. He wasn't sure what exactly she was getting at, but that was the one thing that popped into his head. Anything else that Elias could use that wasn't temporary was...well, either too difficult to get or Samuel himself couldn't think of anything. Her facial expression turned into exactly what he had hoped, one of more surprise and he laughed. "Very exciting."

@jill7
Definitely a hopeless romantic. Probably thought he had a soul mate out there too. Just one person for him, and he'd find them someday and it would be love at first sight. Well, sorry but that didn't happen. Well... It did with her parents but she knew how that ended. Badly. Her body language remained quite casual despite her serious disagreement on the topic. And then he went on to talk about love, and loyalty and truthfulness. A frown slowly appeared. It wasn't just in disagreement though, it was more. Deeper. "I'd rather be satisfied." She answered sharply. No, she didn't believe in any of that. Loyalty? Everyone that she'd ever trusted enough to be loyal to had left her. Lies, secrets, distrust. No. Dreaming of love only got people hurt. She'd been hurt enough already.
A journal..? Maria blinked in surprise at the suggestion. She wouldn't have considered that. The surprise was quickly replaced by deep thought as she mulled it over. He had a point. You couldn't grow bored or tired of a journal. And Elias could use it to look back on his experiences from this year especially. Lightly she tapped her chin with her index finger, still thinking. Did Elias keep a journal already? She wasn't sure, to be honest. Probably not, she would have noticed something like that, wouldn't she? "That might work." She finally responded, a thoughtful tone to her voice.
So, he was an unspeakable. That was quite mysterious and it peaked her curiosity. "How long have you worked there?" She asked the next logical question.

@maria <3 Her tone of voice when she responded caused Samuel to have slight curiosity. Much more than he'd like to admit. The sharpness she had eluded was one he had not heard from her yet and he stood up straighter, taking the coffee mug away from his face to look into her eyes. "You'll never truly be satisfied, Maria. Sex cannot satisfy you without emotion behind it. Otherwise, it's just a senseless act." She seemed angered by what he was saying and believing, but Samuel would stand his ground on a matter such as this. The one person he had felt satisfied with, wasn't with him and committed senseless acts to hurt him. And he refused to be hurt that way again.
"Well there you go then. A journal for Elias. I'm sure he'll enjoy it and write as much as he can. Those tournament tasks are not ones you'll want to relive, and I'm almost positive he'd rather write them down than replay them in his own mind." Samuel wasn't sure where she'd find a journal in this town, but she'd find one eventually. There were plenty of stores, and the first stop he'd suggest was the bookstore. "A few years now." Samuel knew he had a limited amount of information to tell her, and it was promising that she knew so. "Why do you ask?"

For having made it pretty clear that he didn't have any intentions of being with anyone, and basically convincing Maria that he must still be a virgin, he was certainly ready to lecture her about sex. "How about this, I won't lecture you about your sex life if you don't lecture me about mine. Well.. your nonexistent one." She flicked her hair off her shoulders. "Mine's just fine as is." She added, making it quite clear that she was done talking about it. Feelings. Love. Trust. None had ever played a role in her relationships. Because nothing good ever came out of it.
Maria manages to smile as he talked about Elias probably liking a journal and how he might use it. See, that was what she'd wanted. Something useful and meaningful. And... yes sentimental. Basically perfect. "You should be a professional shopper, Santo." She complimented, though that teasing tone was back.
A few years wasn't that specific. But at least it meant more than a couple. At least that helped narrow down how much older than her he was. At least she knew he had to be at least over 20. "Curiosity." She answered with a shrug. "And I suppose you went to Hogwarts? Considering the accent, Scottish right?" It was pretty distinctive. Hers on the other hand knew was hard to placed. It'd always been difficult for people to guess exactly what it was. Her English accent had become an interesting hybrid between Brazilian, Swedish, and a plethora of others from Durmstrang.
