Irina needed to focus; no she didn't need to focus, she needed to escape. Phil had finally said something about where Andy was, and before he had even decided to say how he'd found anything out, Irina realized she already knew. Her vision; the one where she'd seen her roommate crawling on the ground, pulling out a journal and writing 'help' in a journal. Rereading her words, she supposed it made sense that it had been a message to Phil; after all he was the love of Andy's life. The love of ones life, they were the ones you turned to first when the world was collapsing around you. She took the stairs two by two, hopping downstairs and hoping by some miracle her redhaired friend would be in the common room. Mercifully, Lily Potter was sitting on a couch by the fire. Feeling immensely relieved, Irina bounded over to her friend and hopped on the couch and stared her down. "Lily Potter. I have a need to escape my head. I am recruiting you to do this. So I am up to do...whatever. Anything crazy, daring, insane, lay it on me and I will do it," she told her, eyes shining. Her voice had a slight manic edge to it, but Irina Krum would not get stuck in a January funk if she had anything to say about it. lily luna potter

Lily here was on cloud nine. She was sitting on the couch by the fire, Adrian having just left only seconds before. The Common Room was getting sick of their constant snogging and bickering, but she didn't care. Most of the house also seemed pretty relieved that it was happening as well, even if it was obnoxious. She was smiling after him, eyes on the portrait hole. She blew him a kiss before he stepped out and then leaned back on the couch, only to be bombarded by her dear Irina sitting beside her.
She felt horrible that her happiness had increased tenfold whereas Irinas... decreased. Lily hadn't talked to Dan about it, since he apparently needed time and space. She kind of understood that, though, but she still was sad that it had to be this way. Lily knew where Irina was, in a way, having almost lost Adrian last month. She could now return the favor. "Yes! Escape! Good. Hmmm, let us traverse the hallways and find adventure!" she suggested, jumping up and holding out a hand.

Irina could tell that Adrian had just left; Lily's rosy cheeks and slightly smug smirk told her she had just missed a snogging session of the newly (finally) annointed couple. Irina was truly glad for them; she had told Lily...she lost count of how many times she had told the girl they were made for each other. Finally, they had accepted the obvious. Of course, their happiness seemed to be on opposing schedules, though she had a feeling if Adrian were there right now he'd call Dan a few choice words for her benefit (obviously just her benefit with no other reasoning whatsoever). And Irina smiled a little at the thought. "Well I'm glad I caught you free of your love tangle," she said teasingly. She accepted Lily's hand and let her lead her out of the Gryffindor common room. They traversed down the hallways, Irina curious where they were going. "Any destination in mind?" she asked. lily luna potterooc: actually what adrian would do, as per sora XD

Irina mentioned the 'love tangle' and Lily giggled aggressively. "Hey, hey, sometimes we have other stuff to do besides each other," hey eyes widened, "You know what I mean!" she said quickly, pulling Irina into the hallways and going on. Irina asked if she had a destination in mind, and Lily clearly didn't.
"Erh... no, not yet. I have a few ideas... aha!" one came to her and she pulled Irina along until they were up in the Astronomy tower. It was a bit cold outside, but it could have been much worse. "Roof climbing! This is the perfect place to start," she explained.

Irina just laughed out loud when Lily said they had 'other things to do' besides each other. "Yes, they're called classes," she said teasingly, nudging her friend gently. She got it though, of course she understood. She had been in her friends shoes just months ago after all. Her eyes widened slightly as Lily pulled her up to the Astronomy tower that let out to the rooftops. "Roof climbing?" she repeated, sounding a bit skeptical. Then she remembered; she'd given over...well basically her decision-making ability to Lily for the time being, so she supposed roof climbing it was. "Let's get out there," she agreed. Irina placed her hands on the side of the tower battlements, feeling the cold but it only made her feel more empowered. She hoisted herself up over the low wall and landed lightly on the roof. She was glad that there was no snow or ice left on the roof; one false move on slippery ice would have not been a great start to the day to say the least. She looked back to Lily and held out her hand. "Coming, or do I have to do this myself?" she asked, half joking. lily luna potter

“What are those again?” Lily asked, stopping dramatically where she was to give it an added effect. Unfortunately her own joke got the better of her and she continued to giggle through the rest of the conversation about the roof climbing. She had only missed a few classes. They weren’t that important anyways. “Yes, roof climbing!” She piped up as they came out onto the highest point of the Astronomy Tower. The slight cold wasn’t bad, and after what she had just been through back in the common room, it was nice to cool down a little.
Irina was quick, almost too quick, already hopping over the edge of the wall and onto the other side where the roof was. That wasn’t fair, getting ahead of her like that. Practically running the short distance to the wall, Lily vaulted over it as well, holding herself up slightly as she went over. Last thing she wanted to do was fly right over the edge of the roof. Landing on both feet, she threw her hands up in the air with a huge grin and bowed in Irina’s direction. “Don’t have to tell me twice.” Walking across a flat part of the roof, Lily teetered back and forth like she was on a tightrope. “So how high are we going?” She asked, even though she was already starting up another wall that lead to a turret that went even further up. “Come on slowpoke!”

Irina made a face as Lily asked what classes were. "If you went to them sometimes, you'd know what they were," she teased back. Being a year older, obviously Irina didn't fully know which classes Lily attended and how often, but there had been several instances that Irina had crossed paths with her redheaded friend during her own free periods where no other sixth years were in sight.
As Lily joined her out on the roofs, Irina felt a sense of thrill that gave her a little peace of mind. It may have sounded a bit strange, but the adrenaline rush she got climbing the roof higher and higher. She laughed a little as Lily got ahead of her. "No fair, you have those enhanced abilities," she called out, climbing higher to match Lily. "We're going as high as we can without walking onto the clouds," she declared as they continued to climb. As they neared the top, Irina took a minute to pause and look out at the view. "Wow," she said softly. They could see so much from where they were, from the rippling Black Lake, to the tops of the largest pine trees in the Forbidden Forest. The other turrets of the castle were visible from here too, including Gryffindor Tower. "Do you think anyone is looking out the window of our Common Room and seeing a flash of red and black and wonder what the heck is going on out there?" she asked Lily, laughing a little.

Lily started to turn her balancing act into a handstand but thought better of it at the last second, straightening her body back up. “Enhanced or not, falling from here might hurt just a little.” She said, joining in with the laughter. Even being the daredevil she was, one wrong move at this height would mean bye-bye Lily, and she couldn’t very well put Adrian through that right after he managed to stay at Hogwarts! Plus, handstands were more fun to do on brooms while zooming around the Quidditch pitch over the top of the castle roof. “Roger that Captain Krum!” Lily yelled, giving Irina a salute. Moving around the part they were now on, Lily managed to get a good grip on an even higher part, something she was sure had been out of her reach. Those were the best climbing spots; the ones where she typically shouldn’t have been able to get to without being picked up or thrown. Luckily she was pretty good at the whole climbing things and knew how to get to those prime locations.
Snapping her head over to where Irina was, all while mid-climb, Lily wanted to see what her friend was seeing. Letting go, she slid down the angled roof a little, catching herself right along the edge and lightly bouncing back over to Irina’s location. “Wow indeed! Those people look like ants down there.” She stated, pointing at what looked like students walking around on the grounds. “I hope someone is looking. Mostly Adrian so I can give him a heart attack.” What a hilarious sight that would have been, seeing his face pressed up against the glass window of the Gryffindor Tower, most likely shouting for her to get down. Obviously it wouldn’t work. “If someone does poke their head out though, you can dangle me off the edge and pretend you caught me.”

“Oh yes, I think the only thing that would make falling from this height not hurt was if you were either some kind of bird Animagus or a vampire that could turn into a bat,” Irina agreed, gripping onto one of stone gargoyles that was attached to one of the towers. She knew that there were gargoyles that guarded the Staff Room that could talk, but so far this particular outdoor one had remained silent, something she preferred. She laughed at Lily’s new nickname for her. “Captain Krum is my father,” she called back, grinning widely. Irina watched as Lily slid down the roof to join her at the spot she was with to take in the view. She looked down and did see a few specs moving around. “Who knows if those are people or beasts? They look the same from all the way up here,” she commented. It was true; it was hard to differentiate from this high up who or what was down below. The only thing they might be able to see would be any owls or birds (or thestrals in Irina’s case) take flight from the forest treetops. At Lily’s Adrian comment, Irina pretended to look incredulous for a moment, then started laughing. “Poor boy, one day you’ll give him a heart attack; whether it is from your daredevil antics or the passionate snogging remains to be seen,” she told her friend teasingly. “Let’s try to not go that route though; as long as we don’t stay in one place for too long we’ll be fine,” she reassured her. Making sure her footing was secured, Irina hoisted herself on top of the gargoyle onto the flattened part of the roof above. Being this high would terrify some, if not most people, but for Irina it gave her an exhilarating, freeing feeling. “Sometimes I wish I was a bird, so I could just fly away from here whenever I wanted,” she said softly, not really sure if she intended Lily to hear her or not. lily luna potter

Lily stopped in her balancing act as Irina followed up the earlier comment with the fact that a bird animagus or a vampire would probably be fine. She couldn’t turn into either now, seeing as her lovely werewolf blood granted her far more intriguing powers than either of the others did. There was one thing that she didn’t know about that Irina had mentioned. “Vampires can become bats?” She voiced her thoughts, holding onto a ledge and turning back to face her fellow Gryffindor. “Totally should have become one of those instead. I’ll complain to Adrian later about him not being a vampire.” She’d probably have ended up with a lot more bite marks than the one it had taken to turn her into a werewolf. The scar was still there on her left arm, but she was so used to seeing it at this point that it was like it didn’t even exist in the first place. It was a friendly reminder of how much had changed in the past year.
“Yeah, but you’re like, the potions club captain right? That’s close enough. And you’re basically the boss of Gryffindor, not that that’s a bad thing. We need some kind of leader.” She would have offered herself for that position, but she doubted anyone other than Adrian would vote to have her in charge. Too much of a loose cannon, in which she would wholeheartedly agree. “If we drop something on them, then we’ll know.” She suggested, not really thinking of the ramifications that would cause if said object actually hit someone or something at the foot of the castle.
“Adrian can deal. That’s what being a wolf is all about, daredevil antics.” She had to be careful who she said that around. Some of her wolf siblings were keener on being restrained during the full moon, not wanting to run free and explore everything there was to offer in the forest. Being new to it all still, Lily didn’t really care what they said when it came to that. If she wanted to drink a nasty potion once a month, then she wouldn’t have become a werewolf in the first place. “And it’s not like I have him held down all the time while kissing him.” She added matter-of-factly.
Lily followed her friend up the roof and gargoyle, and onto the flat part above. This was the highest they had gone so far, and it definitely was breathtaking, both by the visuals and because the air was thinner. “You could always become an animagus. Not as easy as getting turned into a werewolf, but hey, then you can be free whenever and wherever you want. Legally too!” That was the one drawback of being a werewolf; only being able to turn on the full moon. At least those nights were always unforgettable and full of fun.

Irina laughed at Lily’s question. “Yes, even though it sounds like it comes out of a storybook, vampires can indeed turn into bats,” she said with a small smile. Rina didn’t know too much when it came to vampires outside of what they had studied in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and the fact that her former housemate had been turned into one. The bat thing though, that had stuck out in her memory. “I wonder how it works, if its like when you’re an Animagus or more like a werewolf and involuntary,” she mused, though for Lily she had always had the feeling the girl knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she was bitten. She’d never asked, but it wasn’t as though Lily hid her wolfish transformations from anyone; indeed she was quite vocal about it all. Irina had to admire her for it; she knew when her parents were growing up that werewolves had a bit more prejudice against them. Now thankfully there were more laws that prohibited discrimination against them, at least in a legal sense. She was sure people still held the old prejudices though, especially if their parents had it. Prejudice and hate was taught, not genetic after all. Irina snorted as Lily casually said Adrian could ‘deal’ with her daredevil attitude. “I think if he doesn’t realize by now what he’s gotten himself into, he’s either blind, deaf, or in complete denial,” she said teasingly. She looked thoughtful as Lily suggested she become an Animagus though, but couldn’t help but smile when the legal term was thrown out there. “I think there are some people who don’t exactly follow the rulebook when it comes to Animagi transformations that aren’t werewolves. Otherwise that registry list would be a lot longer,” she said with a light chuckle. She couldn’t confirm anything of course, but rumors were about that a select few members of her class were unregistered Animagus, or attempting to become them. She supposed it would be pretty cool to change into an animal, except for the whole not being able to pick which animal you were thing. And the Mandrake leaf under your tongue for an entire month. Mandrakes freaked her out a little bit, with their ugly faces and deathly cries. “Hey,” Irina called out to her friend suddenly. “Thanks. For providing a distraction, and being a good friend,” she said, smiling at her. lily luna potter

Lily let out a loud ‘Aha!’ as Irina said vampires could turn into bats. So they did have some tricks up their sleeves aside from being totally awesome, fangy bloodsuckers. She made it a point to meet one someday. She had plenty of werewolf family members, so topping it off with a vampire would be super cool. “If I had to guess,” Lily started, “I’d say it’s like an animagus. Maybe they can only turn at night though!” She added, aware that it was totally a possibility that vampires couldn’t use all their powers during the day. Werewolves were unfortunately limited to full transformation only under the full moon, but they still had some heightened senses throughout the rest of the month. No one demi-human race could be too overpowered! Then the normies would hate them again. There was enough hate floating about as it was. People needed to be happier and smile a lot more often.
She giggled a little as Irina said Adrian was practically an idiot if he didn’t know what he had gotten himself into. Obviously he knew, but whether or not he was completely ready for it was a different story. Before all of this, it was easy to bounce around as friends. Now he had the full force of Lily Potter coming at him. Her parents said that was scary sometimes. That meant it was good. “I’m legal now I think.” She pondered the thought a little longer. She was on the werewolf registry, right? “They didn’t give me a collar or serial number though, so I guess we’ll never know!” Attempting to go even further up, it seemed like Irina had paused, so Lily did as well, turning to look down at her friend. “Of course! I’m the master distractor for a reason Rina!”

Irina shrugged; she didn't know all that much about vampires so she had no idea if the bat transformation was a choice or just naturally happened, or if it was during the day or night. Mind buzzing, she made a mental note to herself to look it up later. There was a girl she'd known the year above her who had been turned into a vampire earlier in the school year, but she had left the school to...do something else. Besides, Irina wasn't really sure if there was a proper or polite way to ask a vampire about their new life. Werewolves were easier, seeing as she had friends who were werewolves and she felt comfortable asking about it. In fact she was sure that if asked Lily would do a sit-down interview for someone some day. Irina laughed at the thought, then looked over at her friend. "Sorry, ust had a very funny image cross my mind," she told her, sticking her tongue out. Irina reached up on her tiptoes and hoisted herself up to one of the highest towers roofs after Lily. "You definitely do know how to do the whole distraction thing," she agreed, laughing as she took a seat to look out at the treetops. The wind was a little stronger up here, and it ruffled her hair as she shrugged her sweatshirt closer to her body. "Maybe not the most ideal weather for roof climbing," she admitted with a chuckle. She looked over at her friend, pretending to check for something. "Well unless they embedded a chip, I don't see a collar so if you're official it's just in a book record somewhere," she declared, laughing. lily luna potter

Lily returned the stuck out tongue as Irina made the last push up to the highest point of the tower. She laughed as it was confirmed that she was a good distraction. “I find the best thing to do to get your mind away from something is by doing something completely out of the ordinary.” She figured most people went running or flying, but climbing on the roof of the castle worked too. Very unconventional. Lily liked that. “Not really, but we got here!” She stood up so that the wind could hit her entire body. It was strong, but not enough to knock her off the roof. That would require a lot more than a decent breeze. She had the agility of a wolf now. Cats weren’t the only animals to land on all fours while falling. Lily had mastered that trick already. “Should have grabbed one of the blankets from the common room. They’re soooooo cozy.” Even if the fire was roaring, those blankets were top notch for wrapping up in. One would be perfect in this wind.
Sitting back down on the roof, Lily giggled at the idea of having a chip embedded in her. She definitely needed one of those. The amount of times she got lost wandering around was astounding. “Probably just in the book. Maybe I can get a collar someday though…”

Irina nodded in agreement with Lily; she certainly agreed that doing something completely crazy and out of the ordinary was the best way to distract oneself from typical teenager problems. Like a broken heart. She watched as Lily spread her arms to feel the wind and laughed. “Careful Lily, I bet if you tried you could be taken away by a strong wind if you jumped,” she said teasingly, knowing that the girl wouldn’t do that. Well, no she didn’t know that for certain, but there were limits to daredevil antics, even for Lily Potter. “A blanket would be nice, but if it got caught on a turret then we’d be in trouble," Irina reasoned with a small smirk. Irina stood up herself and looked around; she was ready for a new challenge but also didn’t want to fall and break her neck. Seeing a small distance between the turret they were on and one nearby, an idea sparked in her mind. Slowly she made her way over to the edge and pulled out her wand. She murmured an incantation and a thick golden rope snaked its way across the gap and tighened. She put a foot out and tested it gently; it held firm and she smiled triumphantly. “Come and spot me Lil,” she called, sticking her wand back inside her pocket as she stuck her arms out to the side. She took a deep breath in, and stepped her other foot out onto the wire, now completely balancing thousands of feet in the air. lily luna potter
