@jamie Lily scrunched her face up as Jamie explained that Will hadn’t been allowed to bring the sword into the school. That was a bummer. Swords were awesome. Sharp and pointy things were fun to play with. She did that whenever she was wolfed out, running her claws on trees and anything else that she could tear up. Unfortunately her clothes were subject to that destruction sometimes too. “Well, I guess he knows how to use his sword properly then.” Lily smirked at Jamie, winking in the process. “And I totally would have fit in it. Might be a little big, but I could manage. Just you watch.” She looked around to see if there were any suits of armor near them, and unfortunately there weren’t. They probably wouldn’t let her in anyways, but it was always worth a shot, considering that there was a chance that not all of them were charmed to move around.
“Don’t royals get set up with other families though? If you’re not quick, they’ll through a real life princess at him and they’ll try to force him into it.” Lily stated matter-of-factly, wagging her finger at the Hufflepuff. “Then you’ll have to settle for one of his younger siblings if you still want to be royalty.” Lily pulled her arm away from Jamie’s as she spotted something shiny up ahead, hoping it was a set of armor that she could climb into. Running up to it, she was disappointed to see that it was just a glare off on of the windows. She’d find one eventually and test it out again. “Quidditch is pretty important. You’ll have no problem getting onto a team.” She gave a thumbs up as she skipped back towards Jamie. “Mum and dad keep pushing me to figure something out, but I have all next year, so who cares.” She laughed. Thinking of those things wasn’t important right now. Plus she could find a job no problem if she ever wanted to apply herself to one thing.
“You’re missing out on all the fun.” Being stuck in the hospital wing and drinking a nasty tasting potion wasn’t exactly her idea of freedom, or the freedom that werewolves were supposed to be granted by being one. She could thank Adrian for showing her that.

Jamie choked a little when Lily said that Will knew how to use his sword properly. “I am a lady, thank you very much, Lily Potter.” Jamie said after recovering her wits. “And it takes a long time before I’ll let anyone use their sword skills on me.” Hadn’t they had this conversation before? Jamie was beginning to think that she just got déjà vu when she was with Lily because things were so unexpected, they were expected. That didn’t make any sense at all, except for in Jamie’s head. And while they were on the subject of swords…Adrian and Lily weren’t swordfighting, were they? Jamie did not need another niece or nephew on the way. “Whatever you say.” Jamie said. Since she hadn’t actually seen this hypothetical suit of armor, Lily’s guess was as good as Jamie’s as to whether or not it would fit her. Though Jamie was a lot more familiar with Will’s body than Lily was.
“I don’t know what the protocol is.” Jamie said with a shrug. If Will was set up with some princess or duchess or whatever… It probably wouldn’t be easy, but at least Jamie had solace in knowing that Will had really loved her, and probably didn’t love whoever he was being matched with. “I don’t want to be royal.” Jamie said quietly. She had loved Will, not Sir Lord William Peter Windsor. And as for finding one of the other siblings – she was fairly certain Susan and Lucy were straight, and Edmund had a girlfriend. And it would just be weird to date one of her ex-boyfriend’s siblings. “Everyone keeps saying that!” Jamie burst out when Lily said Jamie would have no trouble finding a team who would take her. “But what if I don’t!?” She didn’t want people just to placate her and tell her what she wanted to hear.
“You know what happened, Lily.” Jamie said quietly. It didn’t matter how much fun she might have had gallivanting in the forest – it wasn’t worth the risk that she might hurt someone again. She had been lucky that the wolf had only bitten Matt, and hadn’t done anything worse. “Fun isn’t my highest priority at the full moon.” Staying alive – and keeping other people alive – was her priority. Maybe it was one of those things that people could only understand once they had experienced it for themselves.

@jamie Lily giggled manically as Jamie seemed to be caught off guard by her comment. That was always the best, getting someone when they least expected it. Especially when it had to do with rather adult subtext like that. Nobody ever expected to hear any of that coming from her mouth. James maybe, but definitely not from her. Unfortunately for everyone else’s ears, she had learned from the master and it didn’t really matter that her surname accompanied her everywhere she went. “You say that now…” Lily muttered under her breath as Jamie said it would be a while before that. That’s what they all said. She was sure who ‘all’ was, but people always used that phrase, so why couldn’t she?
She dropped her jaw slightly as Jamie said that she didn’t want to be royal. Who wouldn’t want that? Apparently the Hufflepuff. Lily, of course, was content with her Adrian, but being related to royalty would be sweet. When it came down to it, she was kind of treated like it because of good old dad, but that was far different from muggle royalty. They were absolutely idolized! Plus the Queen was like, super cool and stuff.
Lily wasn’t expecting the outburst about the Quidditch preposition, especially the way it came out. It caught her off guard, and that was pretty hard to do since she was always going with the flow. “Everyone says that because they know that you’re the best one out there.” Lily said, scrunching up her face. “Like, everyone knows that,” she reiterated, hoping that saying it a second time would have an added effect on Jamie. “There are recruiters at every game, and they’re always pointing that out. And if they aren’t, I make sure they are by the end of the match.” A little persuasion and pointing in the right direction always helped out those dusty old Quidditch managers. They were always looking for exceptional seekers or keepers that could block every shot. They never thought about the chasers that could get by even the best of keepers though.
“I do know what happened. And I’ve been in those same shoes.” Even though her case was fully planned out, it still could have gone horribly wrong. She understood the concern Jamie was showing, but letting loose a little every once in a while never killed anyone. At least not yet. “If you ever change your mind, let me know.” She said happily. She and Adrian had plans to keep other students away, and they usually ran way out into the forest anyways, much further than any student would ever get on their own. That alone removed a lot of the safety concerns.

Jamie just shrugged when Lily said that she said ‘that’ now. Jamie wasn’t quite sure what ‘that’ meant, but she assumed that it had something to do with the sexual innuendos they had been making regarding Will’s sword. Jamie didn’t think that it was proper to mention that she had yet to let anyone into bed with her, despite having one relationship that many would consider ‘long term’. It wasn’t really a conversation that Jamie wanted to have, especially given who Lily was currently flirting incessantly with, so letting it drop was easy after that point.
Jamie was slightly taken aback to have Lily say that she was the best one on the Quidditch field. It sounded like the sort of thing that she was saying because she had to, as Jamie’s sister, but knowing Lily, Jamie knew – or at least, strongly hoped – that she was saying because she actually believed that it was true. That didn’t necessarily mean it was true, but Lily believed it, so that was a step in the right direction. Jamie wasn’t in a habit of regularly asking for praise on her Quidditch skills, mostly because she figured if people wanted to praise her, they would. The result was not hearing much at all in regards to her Quidditch prowess. If compliments came, they were always from other members of the team, and to the tune of ‘nice catch’. So being told that Lily thought she was a good Quidditch player, and that she told other people that Jamie was a good Quidditch player, was a shock. Jamie didn’t say anything – Lily had already said enough for both of them.
“I will…let you know, I mean.” Jamie said quietly. She wasn’t going to change her mind, she knew that already. As soon as May came and she had graduated, she’d be able to do better – find a place in the middle of a forest somewhere where no one could disturb her on the full moon, and there was no chance of another accident. Jamie was waiting for graduation for so many different reasons, but that was near the top of the list. Aware that the mood was rather somber now, Jamie smiled again. “So, other than wishing for wings, what has the great Lily Potter been up to lately?” The Hufflepuff asked. They had been talking about her and Will for far too long, and Jamie was excited to hear what Lily had been doing while Jamie was off being swept off her feet by a knight in shining armor.

@jamie Lily could feel the excitement rise and fall almost instantly as Jamie said she would let her know if she ever decided to run free again. She wasn’t a fan of that game, saying one thing but telling another. Lily knew that deep down all the werewolves wanted to run around like the wild animals they were. If she liked it, there was no way that they didn’t as well. Thinking anything different wouldn’t settle for her. “I’ll be waiting!” She shouted. Running with Adrian was fun, but getting Jamie in on it would be awesome too.
What had she been up to lately? Other than sucking face with Adrian, nothing really. That was practically every waking moment and she wouldn’t have it any other way. “Oh, you know. Just doing me things and stuff.” She bounced around the answer that she really wanted to give. Jamie had told her about Will, and she was starting to think that she owed the explanation about her and Adrian, if it hadn’t been obvious already. It hadn’t, had it? Because everyone kept saying it was and she didn’t really understand that. Not that it mattered too much anymore. Then she got an idea. “How about you guess? Because I don’t think you’ll be able to.” Lily giggled. She was going to make Jamie work for this one.

Lily said that she’d be waiting for Jamie, and the Hufflepuff smiled. “Wait for me until summer.” Jamie said. “And then we can go for a run together, as wolves.” That was a promise that Jamie could very easily keep. She wasn’t sure if Lily was patient enough for that long of a wait, but it was something for the younger girl to look forward to, and hopefully it would keep her off of Jamie’s back for a little bit. In the meantime, The Hufflepuff could concoct another distraction, one that would satiate Lily’s desire for adrenaline without putting either of them, or anyone else, in danger.
Jamie raised her eyebrows at the red-head. She was being very vague with her answer, which made the blonde think that there was something going on that she was not yet aware of. Jamie had half-expected to be roped into a guessing game, but it didn’t stop her from rolling her eyes when Lily asked her to guess. When the younger girl said she wouldn’t be able to guess, Jamie started thinking of the most outrageous things that Lily could have done…which, compared to some of her daily activities, weren’t that outrageous at all. Jamie finally settled on guessing something that she was pretty sure was not going to happen in this lifetime. “You and Adrian finally admitted your feelings for each other and are now happily dating?”

@jamie “Finnnnnnne,” Lily groaned, making sure to elongate the word as much as possible to get her dissatisfaction with that decision across to Jamie. Waiting was always a pain. But summer also meant unrestricted running. “Oh! Can we go camping? That way we can run off and then make it a game of finding our way back?” She had always wanted to do that. Usually there were classes the next day, unless there was an odd weekend full moon, in which then she liked to laze about in the forest until someone came to find her.
The guessing game was going to be fun. Jamie would probably humor her even if she did know, which was impossible because only like, some people knew. Obviously that meant that she could have caught wind of it already. It wasn’t like her and Adrian had exactly been hush-hush about it when it came to the Gryffindor common room. Actually, more people had been grossed out over it than anything. She wouldn’t have it any other way. “Ha. Like that would ever happen.” Lily responded almost immediately, robotic-like even. She stopped walking when she realized what she had said though. That had been the auto-pilot response for the last few years, always making light of it. But now that was true. “Actually…about that,” Lily said quietly. This was a lot harder to say than she had ever anticipated. “Surprise?”

Jamie listened to Lily’s groan with a neutral expression on her face, having anticipated the whining in the first place. It seemed to have given Lily an idea, though, and Jamie nodded when her younger sister asked if they could go camping. “As long as your parents agree.” She said with a shrug. Jamie was under her own control, but she did not want to be the werewolf accused of kidnapping Harry Potter’s daughter. She would rather go down in history for other reasons – good reasons. “But there’s a forest near my old house, so we could try going there.” Jamie had lived on the edge of suburbia, and that was the only reason her father had been able to come and bite her – if her mother had chosen a more central (more expensive) house, then Jamie might not have been bitten at all. At least, that was what she thought, though with Fenrir, everything was possible.
Lily responded to Jamie’s guess the way the Hufflepuff had anticipated – with denial. But then she seemed to backtrack, and said…surprise? “Not much of a surprise, really.” Jamie said drily. She had been anticipating it since she had met Lily, practically. It had just been a matter of time, and apparently Adrian moving away had been the catalyst that they needed to get their butts into gear and talk about how they felt. “I’m happy for you.” Jamie said warmly. “Though now I don’t know who to give the shovel talk to.” She couldn’t well hurt Lily if she hurt Adrian, but she couldn’t hurt her brother, either, if he hurt Lily…which meant that if they ever broke up, things were going to get messy for Jamie, indeed.

@jamie Lily snorted at the idea of getting her parents to agree to let her go camping with Jamie. Of course they would let her do that. At least she thought they probably would. Maybe they wouldn’t. She scrunched her face up while trying to decide whether or not they really would let her if she asked. Even if they didn’t, she finally concluded, there would be ways to convince them otherwise. Jamie was far more trustworthy than Adrian was, and they let her visit him in Germany, so there was that! “Easy. And if they don’t, I’ll leave a letter and run off anyways.” She was pretty sure they trusted her enough to come back home eventually. “That sounds wonderful! You probably know all the good spots too.” Running through woods that didn’t have giant spiders and other creepy creatures would be a break for once.
She narrowed her eyes at Jamie as the Hufflepuff explained that the surprise wasn’t really a surprise. What did that mean? “Who told you? Did Adrian spill it already?” Lily wasn’t exactly mad, more that she had wanted to tell Jamie herself, in her own fashion. Oh well, it was out now. “There was a reason I was happy when you said you were happy! Today is just a very happy day.” She nodded her head in agreement to her own statement. “And if you need to give that talk to anyone, it should be to me. Adrian’s too much of a wimp to hurt anyone.” She laughed, knowing full well how long it had taken to convince him to turn her into a werewolf. There was no way he’d ever do anything on purpose.

Jamie glared a little at Lily when she said that she’d just run off if her parents didn’t approve of her and Jamie going camping together. Again, she would be the one to be bearing the brunt of the lecturing, since she was older, and also not Harry Potter’s daughter. “Please don’t do that to me.” She sighed, hoping that Lily would understand Jamie’s apprehension, even if she didn’t agree with it. “I never went that far in.” Jamie said with a shrug. No one really did, since there were rumors of wolves living in the woods. Jamie thought that was a rumor to keep children from going and getting lost on their own, but that summer, there would be a little truth to the tale.
Lily asked if someone had told Jamie, and the Hufflepuff shook her head, a slightly amused smile crossing her face. “Lily, I hate to be that person, but I knew you were in love with my brother practically since the day we met.” That wasn’t the full truth, since Jamie had needed to see Adrian and Lily together to make the pieces come together, but it had been obvious to Jamie from the start that the two Gryffindors were going to end up together somehow. Fate, or something like that. “It’s good to have happy days!” Jamie enthused, because they hadn’t said the word ‘happy’ enough in their conversation already. When Lily volunteered herself for the shovel talk, Jamie cleared her throat, and tried to give Lily a menacing look, which wasn’t menacing at all. “Don’t hurt my baby brother. He’s a sensitive soul, though he seems thick-skinned.” It was half-hearted at best, but at least now Jamie felt like she had done her sisterly duty when it came to Lily and Adrian’s relationship.

@jamie “Fine, fine. Mum and dad wouldn’t have a problem with it though since I’d be with you. Pretty sure they only trusted me visiting Adrian because his mum was there at all times.” Lily laughed loudly, just realizing that the lengthy communication their parents had the previous summer had to do with all of that. She thought it was to warn her about Lily’s uncontrollable tendencies. She thought she was pretty restrained while in Germany though. It wouldn’t be that much harder to behave while at Jamie’s house. “Well we’ll go exploring then! Everyone needs a good adventure now and again,” she raised her hand into the air, making sure to march her feet like she was leading an expedition. Adventures were her favorite, especially if it came down to exploring an area she’d never been before.
How could Jamie know that before even she knew it? That didn’t make any sense to her. Lily was pretty sure Jamie didn’t have that all-seeing power or whatever it was, so predicting something as random as her dating Adrian seemed impossible. Sure, it may have been more obvious the past few months, but before that there was no way. “Whatever you say Miss Future Seer,” Lily joked. “But really, how’d you know before I did? I really want to know now.” It was some great mystery to her. Though lately, a lot of people seemed to be implying the same thing. How could they all know when she and Adrian didn’t? “He tries to play a tough-guy game but I see right through it,” she giggled. Though she knew the sensitive part all too well lately. When he hurt, she couldn’t help but hurt too.

Lily said that she thought that her parents wouldn’t have a problem with their camping adventure, because when she had been in Germany they had trusted her because Adrian’s mum was there. “Do they trust me because I’m technically an adult, or because I’m not the boy you’re snogging?” Jamie asked with a raise of her eyebrows, unsure why the presence of Adrian’s mother was the sticking point. If it was because she was an adult, Jamie wasn’t sure how to feel about that – she definitely didn’t feel like an adult, apart from the constant worry about her finances post-graduation. But she was definitely not the boy Lily was snogging…partially because she wasn’t a boy, and partially because snogging Lily would be like eight hundred different kinds of wrong. “Exploring it is, then.” Jamie agreed. She wasn’t opposed to adventure, as long as she came out of it relatively unharmed (which was definitely a subjective criterion, she knew).
Jamie rolled her eyes when Lily called her a future Seer. “I think one power out of my control is more than enough for me.” Jamie said. She wouldn’t want to be a Seer, even if she did have the choice to become one – letting go of control was a big thing for her, and if she had to consider how to stop trying to control the future in addition to stopping trying to control the present, then she would be in trouble. “I guess it just…made sense.” The Hufflepuff said with a shrug. It was one of those things that had just seemed right. And friends made the best lovers, because they knew each other’s eccentricities and quirks. “I think the only person he’s fooling is himself.” Jamie told Lily.

@jamie “Maybe,” Lily stated, skipping down the corridor a few feet before stopping and turning back around to face Jamie. “You definitely have that ‘I’m a big sister and I know what to do’ vibe to you. Not that they don’t trust Adrian because he turned me, but because He doesn’t have it all there sometimes.” At the end of the day, it probably wouldn’t matter who Lily was with, as long as there was an understanding that she’d eventually end up in some kind of trouble. It was inevitable, and most of the time she found it finding her, instead of the other way around. Like she was one to complain. It was great.
Lily stopped her skipping once again to toss her hands up in victory, for exploring of course. “Where to then? I don’t want to go anywhere you’ve been before.” Which probably wasn’t nearly as many places as Lily had been. She had practically investigated the entire school to the best of her ability, and then some. The grounds were more her territory these days though. “Well, you’re pretty good at figuring things out either way, Jamie. Using that old noggin of yours seems to pay off,” she said, tapping the Hufflepuff’s head softly. One day she’d be like Jamie, using her head for things. “He’s a fool, so it makes sense,” Lily giggled. She could just imagine Adrian jumping around in a jester costume. That was a great idea for the next Halloween. And if he didn’t willingly put it on, she’d force him to. “Buuuuut he’s my fool, so it’s fine.”

Jamie had to quicken her pace a little to keep up with Lily. She was pretty certain that sipping was actually a more efficient way of moving than walking, but she didn’t want to admit that to Lily. “I try to have that vibe.” Jamie said dryly. She was still learning, but with Odette as her model, Jamie was sure that she would, eventually, develop the best big sister skills that there were. At the second part of Lily’s sentence, though, Jamie paused. “Adrian turned you?” She had never heard the story of how Lily had become a werewolf, but now seemed to be as good of a time as any to investigate that further. Lily would be easier to get the story out of than her brother, that was for sure. At the question of where she’d been, Jamie paused again. Her mind was totally, utterly blank. “Uh…most of the dungeons,” Because she lived there, “The Quidditch pitch, obviously, and, uh, Gryffindor tower…” She had definitely been more places, and honestly, Jamie didn’t care if they revisited someplace the Hufflepuff had already explored. Sometimes it was nice to take a walk down memory lane, right? “Thanks Lily.” Jamie said with a smile when her younger sister said that using her “noggin” paid off for Jamie. It was that and a whole load of hard work and emotional support that allowed things to go Jamie’s way most times, but she was willing to let Lily believe it was all just thinking. Jamie let out a bark of laughter when Lily said that Adrian was a fool. “You can still go back on that, you know.” Jamie teased when Lily said that Adrian was her fool. lily luna potter

@jamie Whoops. She messed up. Again. She had forgotten that there were certain things she wasn’t supposed to say about the whole werewolf thing. Rules were for boring people though, and it wouldn’t hurt Jamie to know anyways. “Surprise? Again?” Lily smiled innocently at the Hufflepuff. Jamie wouldn’t be mad about it, would she? “Everything makes a lot more sense when you know the full story, doesn’t it?” She thought it did. Having begged Adrian to go through with it meant that he would only do it because he trusted turning her. It definitely wasn’t a mistake. “We had it all planned out. Parents were pissed, but I’m my own person.” She shrugged. Lily knew it was careless and she could have died. But she was a werewolf. There was nothing better than that.
“The forest then,” she added, deciding to make the decision for Jamie. “Not too far in. Spooky stuff is in there.” She widened her eyes to act as if she was scared. In all honesty, she was probably the scariest thing in there when it came to the full moon. And that was saying something. “Sure, I could go back on it, but I don’t want to hurt him.” There had already been pain before Christmas. That was solved though. “At least, I won’t hurt him like that. Can’t guarantee other things…”
