How many times could Jamie say she felt euphoric before people started thinking she was on some kind of drug? She didn't know, and she didn't care. Besides, no drug could make her feel nearly as good as her natural neutral transmitters did, and those were firing at full blast right now. Everything was good, and everything was right, and the world just seemed...better. It was like she had been living in black and white, and then Will had stormed in and made her world technicolor. No, that wasn't quite right. She had made the world technicolor, because she had wanted to see if Will looked as beautiful in it as he did in monochrome. The answer was yes, of course. Everything looked just as good, if not better, with the new eyes Jamie was seeing everything through. Maybe she was beginning to freak some people out with how good her mood was, but Jamie wasn't going to stop her happiness because it made other people uncomfortable. She wasn't going to shut off her light just because some people preferred darkness. She was just going to keep on shining.

At first Daniel thought he was going to break. He was sure that the reason he had ended up in the castle was because he was going to give up. That he was going to find Irina and beg for forgiveness, on his hands and knees he had to. He was going to tell her that his problems weren't important, thay he could push them aside, bury them deeper and deeper until they disappeared. But he knew that wasn't possible. He knew that if they buried him they would just become explosive and hurt everyone even more than he already had. He knew that he had to deal with this on his own. He knew that he had to-
He stopped mid-step as a sudden surge of positive emotion flew toward him from somewhere within the hall. He looked through the faces, trying to find the person whom these emotions were coming from. Eventually, his eyes landed on Jamie Greyback. He remembered the last time they had spoken. And her emotions were very, very different then. Not only was he curious as to why things had changed, but he also knew that he needed this right now, that he needed her. "Jamie!" he called, moving toward her through the crowd. Upon reaching her, he reached to hand out and caught her wrist gently. But tugged a little bit on it, indicating that he wanted her to come closer. "I heard a rumor you were offering free hugs today, I'd like one please," he joked, making that up, clearly. But hey, it was worth a shot.

Upon hearing her name called through the crowd, Jamie stopped momentarily to give whoever it was calling her the chance to make their way through the people and to her. “Oh, hi, Dan!” Jamie said brightly when she recognized the face. She had only met Dan once before, but he was related to Adrian and he made Irina happy, so he was good in her book. Jamie was confused for just a moment when Dan said that there was a rumor that she was offering free hugs. She hadn’t said anything of the sort, but – oh! It was a joke! Jamie beamed at Dan – that was actually pretty funny! And if he needed a hug, who was she to deny him? She had plenty of happiness to go around, and there were some days that you just needed a hug to feel like everything was going to be okay again. Jamie didn’t hesitate to throw her arms around the Durmstrang boy. She didn’t really know what to say to him, so she decided to fall back on the standard platitude: “Everything is going to be okay.” Tomorrow was a new day, which meant it was a new opportunity to become a better, happier person. Jamie wasn’t sure how exactly she could become happier than she was now, but better? She was always looking for better.
