Mina said that she was only better than the other Slytherins in the sense that she wasn’t stuck up, and Imogen shrugged. The way she saw it, Slytherins and Gryffindors both had a propensity to have their heads up their own arses, but only Slytherins could actually justify that behavior, because they were brilliant and ambitious and contributed to society. Gryffindors weren’t actually anything, just full of a lot of hot air while they pretended to be more than they were. “Just let me compliment you, Mina.” Imogen said with a teasing smile. Denying every compliment that someone gave you, or redefining it to make it less of a compliment, wasn’t good for the self-esteem. Since Mina was going through such hard times, Imogen figured that she could use a little bit of a self-esteem boost. When the other girl suggested that the pair journey to the Great Hall, Imogen bit her lip. “I’ll do you one better.” She said after a moment of pondering. “Why don’t we go to the kitchens?” Then they could keep talking without the awkwardness of having to sit at another house’s table, and they could also order whatever food they wanted, rather than just choosing from what was on the table – though, admittedly, there was always a huge variety of food available anyways. Walking down to the kitchens would take a little longer, so Imogen was fine if Mina decided that she wanted to stick with the original plan of the Great Hall, but the kitchens were next to both of the girls’ common rooms anyways, so they’d be heading down to the bottom floor of the castle eventually anyways. mina pandora oliveira

@imogen January 2018 - year three Mina stuck her tongue out at Imogen as she teased her. “Not allowed. I need to live up to my edgy lifestyle or people will get concerned again.” That and she’d become an emotional wreck similar to what she was on the verge of only minutes before. The return to normalcy for her was a lot easier than it sounded, probably because she was used to putting up false fronts since school had started. There was a lot to live up to in a big family, especially considering where they all came from. While she didn’t necessarily believe in living up to a name, Callisto’s specifically, it still affected her when people compared the two. How they could do that was beyond her, seeing as they were completely different people to begin with. “But thanks regardless,” Mina muttered out as she looked away from her friend. She was too hungry to get all feelsy and emotional right now, that much had been discussed already. Imogen was honestly a genius. The kitchens were far better than the Great Hall, which on occasion looked like it was completely picked over with barely anything edible left over. Obviously the house elves would do their best providing for latecomers to the hall, but they had more important things to be doing at that point in time. Like getting all those wonderful desserts ready. Visiting the kitchens was a different story though, seeing as they almost felt like they were obligated to help out any students that happened to stop by. Mina didn’t like pressing her luck by visiting too often though; she had been caught once late at night trying to get an extra pastry by the Head Girl at the time, and gotten a string of detentions out of it, mostly because she had been warned not to bother the house elves anymore. Whoops. “Good idea! I love their squeaky little voices,” she gushed, walking over to Imogen and looping her arm through her friend’s. “Off we go then Im, no need to make me wait for food.”[The End?]
