This was absurd. Why was she taking his feelings into consideration? Why was she respecting that boundary he'd created? Why wouldn't she cross that line? In the silence that followed her pulling and moving away she almost missed him speaking. That silent question. Though he'd moved quietly, she could tell that he was right behind her. So, she stayed still, not moving even an inch. Not even her gaze moved as she mulled over that question. Trying to come up with the correct answer. It took a moment, but at long last her lips parted. "Because I have issues? So I don't want to give you reasons to pull away."

@maria <3 Maria was good at keeping still. Which was surprising since she wasn't good at keeping her mouth shut. As Samuel thought about it, Maria probably could feel his presence behind her if she hadn't heard him move. His eyes handed at the guitar behind them, but moved slowly to the back of her head, her long brown hair falling down her back just like his. Taking in a small breath he shook his head. "Everyone has issues, Maria. You don't scare me. Your past doesn't scare me. I don't plan on going anywhere." If anything, Samuel was confused why she thought he'd be the one to leave.

Maria finally moved, turning on the spot to face him. And realize just how close he was. The motion had brought them just a touch apart, so close that she could feel his breath on her cheeks. Her dark gaze raised to meet his own. "Which is why I don't plan on giving you any reasons to want to." She answered. She wouldn't give him any reasons to pull leave. "I've never been good at boundaries or restrictions. But I won't cross them with you. I'll... try to be respectful of what you want." Try, that was the best she could do. She wasn't perfect. She'd probably slip up sometimes. "So, I promise. No hair pulling. Public or private." She repeated. That one was going to be extremely difficult for her. But she'd try. For him she'd try.

@maria <3 Maria was shocking him. And Samuel was shocking himself. His thoughts were going into uncharted territory and he was trying to get them out. He knew Maria was too young. And she'd probably be too young for a few more years, at least in his eyes. Either way, she'd shown him she'd be a good friend, and as of right now, Samuel would enjoy that from her. "I don't think you could do anything to make me leave, Maria. But I appreciate you doing this." His voice was soft, their breathing mixing together. His green eyes were so close to her brown, their noses only a few centimeters away. Samuel blinked, just staring at her.

Samuel thought quite highly of Maria. For not knowing everything about her. For never seeing how she interacted with most people. So his saying there was nothing she could do to drive him away made her smirk just a little. "You sound pretty confident." she breathed, her gaze not wavering from his own, staring right back.

@maria <3 Her tone was breathless and it made him swallow nervously. She didn't sound like she was going to do anything to him, but Samuel couldn't help his emotions. Especially with someone that could set him on fire just to prove a point. She told him she wouldn't do that, but Samuel wouldn't put anything past her. At least not right now, and he assumed burning him could currently be the worst thing she could do to him.
Tilting his head with a raised eyebrow, he shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with being confident, Maria." Samuel smiled at her obnoxiously, her scent filling up his nose.

Now that was a smile that made her want to slap him. So smug and intentionally obnoxious. Close enough that she could do any number of things about it too. Thankfully all she managed was a smirk and eyebrow raise. "But aren't you religious or something? I thought they preferred being humble. " she questioned with a smirk. He hadn't flat out said be was, but considering his personality and what he'd said... well it was a good guess.

@maria <3 "Or something." Samuel scoffed, but ending up laughing. He was religious of course, and while he hadn't flat out specified he was waiting for Maria to say something about it and there she did. "I can be humble and confident. I'm just not cocky, is the difference." Samuel knew he was attractive and such but he didn't obnoxiously flaunt it around and talk about himself constantly. That just annoyed him. The two of them were still not moving, continuing to stare and be extremely close to one another. He wasn't sure what to do. "I'll wait for that apology you know. And I won't let it go."

"Yes, or something. There are plenty of backwards thinking in the world, it could have been something else." Was Maria's answer as she shrugged. Maria was obviously not religious. Or Spiritual. In any way. Superstitious though? Heaven forbid yes... But Samuel did not need to know about that at all. Few people knew just how superstitious she was, and she preferred it that way. "Well, at least I won't have to worry about any competition in the 'cocky' department." It was that 'cocky' attitude that let Maria admit it so shamelessly.
As he stated he'd wait for the apology both her eyebrows raised, and a wicked smirk appeared. "You'll be waiting a very, very, long time then." She answered as she reached up to lightly pat his cheek. "Word of advice, don't count on it." She taunted as she finally took a few steps back to finally end the small space between them.

@maria <3 If there was anything Samuel hated about Maria, it was her patting his cheek like a dog. It made his blood boil. The smile he had given her was replaced with a glare. If Samuel wasn't nice he would've smacked her hand away like he had prior, but they were currently getting along very well. "No you don't. Though you can be worried about other things." Samuel didn't explain further. Mostly because he had no idea what she should be worried about and was just teasing.
Glancing at the sky, he saw the sun beginning to set. Maria had taken a few steps away from him, and he straightened up, grabbing his guitar and throwing it over his back. "I must go, sweet Maria. I've got chores to do." Chuckling, he moved forward to her and placed some hair behind her ear. "I'll see you soon." Moving a couple feet away, Samuel smirked and gave her a little wave before apparating away.
