Aerick nodded, interested that the girl next to him could speak different languages. It had not been a priority in his life; his parents both spoke English and since Ilvermorny was an American school, almost everyone there mainly spoke English as well. Aerick’s mother had not seen the need for him to learn another language, as she had assumed he’d go into domestic politics like she did. Of course, with his fathers confession, Aerick went down an entirely different path, but nobody knew about that. Not even Logan, and he spoke with Logan about a great deal of dark things. Perhaps one day he’d feel safe enough to open up to someone about why he came to England in the first place, but he thought it’d put quite a damper on this afternoon.Aerick simply raised a brow but said nothing as Clodagh cut off what she was going to say. Her sentence could have gone a thousand different ways, but if she stopped herself she wasn’t ready to say whatever it was out loud. “Good,” he said with a small smile as she agreed to get German food. He led her down a street into a narrow alleyway. “I know it’s a bit of an...odd way to get down here, but it’s a shortcut,” he told her. He felt comfortable in the shadows anyway; it was less likely for people to recognize him than in broad daylight. Soon they were in front of a tiny German pub. Aerick opened the door for Clo as the entered the small room that was relatively empty due to the time of day. “Guten tag,” Aerick greeted the bartender; it was just about the only German he knew, and that was because the man had always greeted him so. “Bar or table?” he asked Clo; typically he sat at the bar, but he’d let her pick this time.@clodagh

@aerick
You know those scenes in movies where you went somewhere that was obviously creepy, and you knew it was creepy but went otherwise? Yeah, Clodagh didn't have that natural reaction. Maybe that was how she got into such awkward situations, because she didn't hesitate to follow the handsome man down the narrow alley. It could also be the fact that she was with a handsome man though. They tended to cloud Clo's judgement. Especially this one in particular. "Shortcuts are always good." she agreed as she mentally kicked herself. Shortcuts are always good? What was she, Ten? ... well, her social ability was definitely that of a ten year olds at times...
Thankfully her inability to sense potential danger did not backfire on her today and soon they were at the small but comfortable Sherman pub. She smiled, shyly of course, as they entered and Aerick immediately greeted an employee before asking her where they should eat. Her gaze went from the bar to the table, as if weighing both options, before, to her surprise she found herself speaking. "Table? It'd be easier to keep talking, If you wanted." of course she had to leave it open to debate! Despite being out on a date of sorts she seemed incapable of fully believing he'd so willingly want to talk with her!

Aerick chuckled a little at Clo’s comment on shortcuts. “Indeed, shortcuts are always welcome, though sometimes taking the long way is more rewarding in the end,” he replied. With a nod, Aerick led her to a table where a large blonde woman set a pitcher of water and two menus in front of them. “Let’s see, what looks good here,” he commented, picking up one of the menus. He immediately went to the beer selection; was that not what Germans were famous for after all? “I have to admit I haven’t had the pleasure to have gone to Germany itself, just have enjoyed their food selections,” he told her with a small shrug of his shoulders. Perhaps one day, after he had found and sought revenge on his father of course, he could travel the world and actually soak up the culture he’d tasted at the various restaurants in London. Clodagh sounded like she had a lot of travel experience; perhaps if they kept ‘bumping’ into each other...but Aerick couldn’t plan for any future, not yet at least. He had to stay focused on the present and his mission; Elaine would grow disappointed in him if he got too distracted. They all knew what happened when Elaine grew disappointed. “My traveling has been somewhat limited; the bar I work is a bit understaffed,” Aerick admitted, pouring the two o them glasses of water and taking a sip. “I admit though, I like the extra cash flow; it proves useful in situations such as taking a pretty girl out to lunch,” he added with a half smile, toasting in Clo’s direction. The blonde woman came back to take their order. “I’ll take a pint of the Dunkel, and…” Aerick turned back to Clo with a small smile. “How do you feel about starting off with the Weisswurst?” he asked her. @clodagh For Reference, here’s the menu I’m going off of: bierschenke.co.uk/

Clodagh seriously hated herself right now. She felt like a bumbling idiot, incapable of normal human interaction, and especially not wird a gorgeous man. He made her mind incoherently mush, with no filter, but also tongue tied at the same time. And how he was even interested in her... it was mind blowing. She kept her mouth forced shut for the first few moments at the table, trying to focus on the menu instead of the outrageously gorgeous man across from her. It didn't work once he mentioned never going to Germany. "You should visit." she answered without thinking. Again. "I mean... I think you would like Germany. It's a great place. Especially around Christmas." At least she hadn't said anything embarrassing in her thoughtless outburst. It could have been much worse. But instead it was almost... normal.
Clodagh had opened her mouth to respond to his comment about working to much to travel but choked on her words when he added taking out pretty girls. Her cheeks were flaming red once more, and it took a moment for her to actually remember that you should breath oxygen and not choke on it. She was so choked up though that she could only nod as he suggested Weißwurst first. No, talking would be a bad idea until she could breath normally again.
Thankfully she wa eventually to breath. And they had a pleasant lunch...
