Irina smiled at Anna gratefully as she wiped her eyes with her sleeve. The period of crying had left her eyes red-rimmed, stuffed up and tear stained cheeks, but she felt a million years better. She supposed it was true what they said; sometimes one just needed to cry it all out to feel better. She was grateful to have so many friends who cared about her, who actually wanted to be there when she was sad and not just when she was in a good mood. It seemed silly to think, but true friends were hard to come by, and Irina was glad she could count Anna as one ofthem.
She grinned at her friends' eager mention of the fondue fountain. "I did see the fondue fountain and thought of you. You've got the sweet tooth of our dorm room," she said, playfully teasing. "I bet that some of the event planners for the Yule Ball found out about your love of chocolate and had it brought in especially for you," she mused, raising her eyebrows at Anna before chuckling a little. "I actually am feeling better Anna, thank you," she admitted after a moment of silence. "Not sure I am ready to get back out on the dating scene better, but not feeling like a useless lump of sadness better," she added, laughing a little at the thought.

Anna laughed, “Well I didn’t actually get to the fondue fountain during the Ball. After it, Oscar came up to me and told me that we missed it. So we went on a hunt in the kitchens until we found it and then we had fondue. So I guess you beat me there.” She laughed, “If they planned it just for me, you’d think that they’d make more effort to be sure I knew about it.” Anna looked at her close friend, “You don’t need to go on the dating scene yet. Just take things slow and come talk to me if you need anything and then it’ll all turn out good and the right man will show up for you.”Irina Rose Krum

Irina opened her mouth in feigned shock when Anna said she missed the fondue originally. "Do I have to inquire as to what on earth you were doing to miss it?" she asked her friend, smirking to ensure she knew she was only teasing. Still, Irina herself had been rather preoccupied by her former beau at the Ball, and yet she had still noticed the chocolate fondue fountain. "We clearly should just bring it up to the Gryffindor Common room, or our dormitory for people to enjoy. And by people I mean us," she decided, laughing a little.
Her smile turned genuine when Anna reassured her about the dating scene. "I know, it's nice to have someone to talk to and go on dates with. I got rather used to the idea of being cared about more than most people in their life," she said, feeling a little nostalgic. "Does that sound strange? I think it sounds a bit needy now that I think of it, but for you, Oscar clearly cares about you a lot. It's nice to know someone cares that much," she added, looking a bit sheepish. Irina liked to think of herself as a strong individual, not someone who needed a partner to be happy. But it had been rather blissful.

Anna made a face back at Irina. "We were mostly just dancing and talking ... and the fondue fountain was outside. I wasn't looking for it out there!" That was a good enough reason, right? Then she grinned. "Yes we should! You and I would enjoy that way too much. Hmmm ... I'm sure Lily could help us find a way to get it up here," she said with a smile. Anna smiled and nodded while Irina began to reminisce about how it felt to be dating someone and knowing without a doubt how they felt about you. "I don't think it sounds strange. I used to wonder and doubt about whether or not I'd ever get that experience and now ... I'm in it," she admitted with a small shrug. "And it is nice. I don't think it's bad to say that what you had was nice. Just ... anticipate that what's coming should be better," she said with a smile. She didn't know when Irina would find someone else to date, but she just needed to be open to the idea and not hold everyone up to the things Dan used to do. Irina Rose Krum

Irina still had a smug smile on her face, but she knew Anna was telling her the truth. She had no reason to lie after all. "Alright, I believe you for now. Plus you'd tell me if anything else needed to be gossiped about," she told her teasingly. She laughed at the quip that Lily could help them. "Help us? Anna she'd do the whole job before breakfast and tell us about it after the fact," she said, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. Lily was a bit on the impulsive side, and once an idea was put in the girls' head there weren't a whole lot of things that would stop her.
Irina's smile turned genuine and she reached out to squeeze her friends' shoulder gently as she admitted she was in that safe sort of relationship feeling now. "I'm glad to hear it. I know that now I've experienced it, it's something I like having in my life. If that happens to not be with Daniel-" she swallowed a little hardly, but then smiled again. "Then that's the way life goes. I'm only seventeen after all, it's okay if I don't find the be all end all," she finished, chuckling lightly.

Anna smiled when Irina said that she believed her, not that Anna expected otherwise. She and Irina were close enough to be honest with one another. She rolled her eyes, "I'm pretty sure everyone's going to be gossiping about the fact I went with Oscar," she admitted softly, not sure how she felt about that. She wasn't a fan of gossip but also knew that as Tournament Champion, there was no way to avoid it. "I guess you're right about Lily," Anna agreed after a moment. Anna leaned forward to give Irina a hug. "You'll be fine. And even if it's not Daniel, I'm positive that some guy will show up and make you feel wanted and safe and loved." Irina Rose Krum

Irina giggled. "Well you ARE the Hogwarts Champion; I'm sure everyone wanted to know who you were taking and how you interacted with them. I'm sure some of the younger girls were trying figure out everything about Oscar and attempt to find someone to take them that would hold to your standards," she told her. More than once in the weeks prior to the Yule Ball, Irina had heard girls in their house whisper about what Anna would wear, what Oscar would wear, if she knew how to dance, and many other frivolous questions. Irina had found it rather hilarious, but figured it would have added on to Anna's stress level. "It was cute, they look up to you Anna. I think you would have enjoyed it," she informed her.
Irina gave her friend a tight squeeze back when Anna affirmed that even if it wasn't Daniel, there was someone out there that would be the perfect man for her, even if she couldn't see it yet. "You're right," she said softly as she pulled back, tucking her hair behind her ears. She stifled a yawn and stretched widely. "Do you think you'll dream of chocolate fountains and dancing now that we've talked about them?" she asked her, only half teasing her. Irina was feeling sleepy, but she wouldn't let her friend stay wide awake at night while she slept on, not when she had returned the favor to Irina multiple times.

Anna made a face at Irina. She knew that she was the Hogwarts Champion, but she didn't like all the publicity that came with it. Most of the time, Anna ignored the fact that the younger girls were always following her around and trying to be more like her. It was ... weird. She shuddered. "I hope they just went with someone they could have a good time with," she answered after a few moments. She didn't want the girls to be miserable because they tried to find someone as handsome as Oscar. Especially since that wasn't an easy thing to do. "It's weird, having people think of me that way," she admitted, a little softly. Anna smiled when Irina started yawning and asking if she was going to dream of chocolate fountains and dancing. "I generally dream about something to do with Oscar," she admitted, "So there won't be much of a difference there." That is, she dreamed of Oscar when she wasn't having nightmares about the Task. She noticed Irina yawn again and put a hand on her shoulder. "You know you don't have to stay up with me, right? You can go to bed." She didn't know if Irina would do it, but wanted to put the offer out there. Anna wasn't close to being tired yet. Irina Rose Krum

Irina laughed as Anna admitted how weird it was to have people thinking of her that way. "Well, maybe you should write to your Aunt? Since she's the new Minister of Magic, and one of the only Muggleborn Ministers. She probably gets stared at a lot; we both know people already look up to her, but now it's got to have tripled in magnitude," she explained, mentioning her friends famous relative, Hermione Granger. Anna wasn't related to her by blood, but by her marriage to Ron Weasley. To Irina though, that wouldn't make her any less family. "What about your father Anna? He was a replacement judge for part of your uncles' tournament; what sort of advice has he given you?" she asked curiously. She knew Percy Weasley was one of those people who was more than happy to give advice, whether one wanted to hear it or not, but she was sure Anna would take all the advice she could get as Champion.
Irina shook her head firmly. "Nope, you've stayed with me until I fell asleep after my visions, and I will do the same for you. If I have to sing you to sleep I will," she declared stubbornly, sticking her tongue out at her friend and laughed. "Please don't make me sing though, it's not my forte and might wake up the rest of the Tower," she added, covering her mouth so her laughter was muffled, not to wake anyone who may be a light sleeper and hear the laughter carry.

Anna smiled at Irina's suggestion. "I didn't even think about that. I think I will write her, thanks." This was why she liked talking with her friend. Irina understood her and she also tried to help her. Then she mentioned Anna's father and Anna scoffed. "I don't talk to my father very much," she said, though she didn't know why it was necessary. "He's told me to study hard and do my best to represent our family, but after reading a few lines of his owl, I stopped." Rude? Probably, but Anna had a hard time dealing with her father. They didn't understand one another and most of the time she didn't have the patience for him. She shrugged, "He wasn't giving me anything I didn't already know."
Anna smiled thankfully when Irina said she wouldn't leave. Then she giggled a little bit. "I won't make you sing. Do you want to tell me a story? Maybe that will help me relax enough to be able to sleep?" Anna wasn't sure if Irina would want to do that, but it was all she could think about right now. Irina Rose Krum

Irina felt bad; she knew Anna’s dad was a bit...pompous was a nice word for it. “That sounds like your father,” she said with a small chuckle. From what she’d heard, Percy Weasley had quite possibly been sorted into the wrong house; he had been incredibly ambitious, and willing to throw over family to achieve elevation at the Ministry. This was a trait she was pretty sure he had passed onto Lucy as Irina would not have put it past the Slytherin girl to throw Anna under the bus if it meant getting what she wanted. She had spoiled Anna’s perfect night of being selected as Champion; luckily her friends had been there to make it all, at least mostly, better.
At the mention of a story, Irina grinned. “I can do that, hold on,” she said, getting up to creep back upstairs to get her book on Fairy Tales Dan had given her. She gave the book a small wistful smile before tiptoeing back downstairs to her friend. “Right, let’s see which one to read,” she said, perusing the table of contents before stopping at Cinderella. “This is the story of Cinderella. Once upon a time, in a faraway land…” Irina continued to read the story aloud, about the sweet girl who had been forced into maid service by her evil stepmother and stepsisters, and how she wished to go to the ball. Luckily the story had a happy ending, with Cinderella attending the ball, meeting and falling in love with a handsome prince, and in the end with the help of a glass slipper…”And they lived happily ever after,” Irina finished, looking up at her friend.

Anna shrugged at Irina's mention of her father. She knew that what she said was accurate. It took a very specific kind of person to understand her father and Anna ... was not that person. She didn't understand him or his motives and she didn't care to. All she wanted was to be done talking about him, because she didn't really have anything else to say about him. As Irina went upstairs to grab some sort of book, Anna made herself comfortable on the couch. It was very likely that she would be sleeping there tonight, so she might as well make things feel better. She watched Irina as her friend started telling her the story of Cinderella, but somewhere in the story she felt herself drift off to sleep. She could still hear Irina's voice and was listening to the story for quite a while, but she didn't move or speak. In fact, it didn't take long before she fell asleep altogether. By the time Irina finished the story, Anna was so far asleep that she didn't even realize her friend stopped talking. @irina (OC: So ... you can end it or just leave it there? Haha or wake Anna up. I'm good with whatever! )
