Georgie couldn’t help but smile even more widely when Lance grinned at her. She knew that he had a habit of giving up a lot in order for her to be more comfortable, and it felt good to be able to make him happy for at least a little while when he had spent the last five years of his life doing the same thing. Besides, even if his life advice that time hadn’t been the greatest, Lance was pretty much the best older brother that anyone could ask for. Anyone else who thought that their brother was better had never met Lance Linley. Georgie chomped down on the last bite of her fish, and then stared at the cone. She was full, of course, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t the slightest bit disappointed that everything was gone. Georgie dipped her fingers into the cone and sucked off the last vestiges of grease and salt that had been left on the paper. Now she really had no reason to keep sitting in the alley, or to keep holding onto the cone. Lance said that he was ready when she was, and Georgie nodded. She threw her trash into the nearest receptacle, and then began leading the pair of them back towards the entrance of the alley, the orphanage, and their disappointed lecture.
