You may not know me, but my name is Poet Dmello - but you can just call me Poe. I'm sure you've heard by now, but Rai is in Romania, searching for her vampire. I just wanted to see how you were, since whispers have told me that you two were...involved. Feel free not to respond, but if there's anything I can help you with...just ask. grey xavier slater

I’d say involved is a strong word for our relationship, unless you mean in terms of our friendship. I hope she finds what she’s looking for though, because Hogwarts and the Auror office is where she belongs. You wouldn’t happen to be the Auror that helped Rai when she showed back up, are you? Finn mentioned someone else was there to take her to the hospital. If you were, thank you. Her disappearance was kind of driving both Finn and I up the wall.

That's not what I've heard. In any case, it's hard to lose a friend, especially since she did leave rather more suddenly than I had expected when she first proposed the idea. I agree that I hope she finds her vampire, but I'm not sure it will happen. Sometimes getting too focused on someone something has unseen ramifications.
Yes, that was me. I...I was there. Are you and Finn friends, then?

Maybe it was something else, but for now I think she’s made it rather clear that there are more important things, and I’m glad she knows what she wants to do moving forward. Finn and I are friends, yes. Both he and Rai were in Gryffindor, so that’s how I know them. You might know my sister Claire, as well. Not exactly looking forward to her training me when I apply to be an Auror after graduating, but I guess I’ll have to make do. @poet

Knowing what you want is important, indeed. You want to be an Auror, like your sister?
That's nice. I haven't heard much from Finn since Rai left, but I hope he's doing well. And I figured that was how you knew each other. I was in Hufflepuff, so can't say I know anything about Gryffindor camaraderie, but whatever.
I know Claire, yes - I helped train her. You also have a younger sister, right? Addilyn? I wouldn't bet on Claire training you. Maybe there'll be another trainer by the time that happens. Hopefully not me, though. grey xavier slater

Sure, we’ll say I want to be an Auror like Claire. No use arguing the fact that I wanted to do that long before she did. Finn is getting by I think. I’ll need to catch him one of these days when he’s not on shift and catch up with him. Not having Rai around is definitely different for both of us. Sounds like Claire told you everything about the family. It’s not me that I’m worried about during training, it’s her inability in not being able to see past our differences in the past. So a new or different trainer would probably be for the best. @poet

You must have wanted to be an Auror pretty young, if you wanted to do it before Claire. How much older is she than you, again? I'm not so great with times. After a certain age the years just all blur together, you know?
Well, if you see Finn around, tell him that I'd like to talk to him, too.
...Not exactly. I have other ways of getting information, and I was at the castle for a while. Rumors only grow, you know, and I heard a rumor or two about your sister.
If that's the case, and no one's signed on by then...Send me an owl. I'll see what I can do. grey xavier slater

I wanted to be an Auror because I never thought she’d be one, but here we are. She’s three years older, so that’s why I get a lot of ‘oh you’re following your sister, how wonderful’ from almost anyone I tell. I can do that. He’s not too hard to find. As far as I’m concerned, Addilyn was placed in the wrong house. She’s in a pit of snakes and doesn’t necessarily want to fight back. At least if she was in Gryffindor Claire and I could have watched over her a little better. What are those rumors, by the way? I can do that. Like I said, not totally against her training me, I just feel like the department will end up with one less Auror at the end of it all. @poet

What did you think that Claire was going to do, if she wasn't going to be an Auror? Just curious, since I've never heard her mention...actually, she doesn't mention much of anything, Private person, your sister is.
Sometimes people are placed in the house they are not for the skills they have, but for the ones they need to learn. I'm not sure why she would need to learn cunning, but perhaps ambition? I don't know.
Back when I was at Hogwarts, it was something about you not speaking with her? I'm not entirely sure, it was hard to piece everything together.
I personally think that it's bad to have siblings training together, no matter what their past relationship was like. Familiarity can make us complacent, which is part of the reason why I've always advocated Aurors having more than one trainer. Learn more with different teachers and all that. grey xavier slater

Honestly, I had no idea. Something in the Department of Mysteries maybe? Then again, I don’t think forcing her to be quiet about work would sit too well with her either. And tell me about it. Always a surprise when you get her to talk about some things… Perhaps. I’d say there’s plenty of ambition there, which is why Gryffindor would have been better. She needs to be brave, and to stick up for herself and others. I might be looking at it from the wrong point of view though. Sometimes I think I could do to listen to my own advice that I give others. Ah, well that’s fixed now. Like I just said, sometimes I need to listen to my own advice. That was one of those cases. Not a bad idea. Who knows though, I may not even be the right kind of trainee they’re looking for. Transfiguration skills are remarkable, but I lack discipline in Potions. Charms could be a little better as well. Doesn’t help when the professor is on a witch hunt (pun intended) for every last Gryffindor. @poet

I don’t know much about siblings (I don’t have any), but is it possible that she became an Auror just because she knew that you wanted to be one? Apparently that’s the sort of spiteful thing that siblings would do to each other. What I find even worse than people who don’t talk is those who talk a lot but say very little. Trying to find the important things amongst all the chatter is exhausting.
I think in the end, the Hogwarts house you get put in is what you make it. A lot of people were surprised I was put in Hufflepuff instead of Gryffindor, but I think that being in Hufflepuff helped make me a better person, and a better teacher – no offense intended to Gryffindor, of course.
Can I get some background on that situation, or is it all hush-hush now that it’s over?
Sounds like me. Transfiguration was my best subject in school, but I was average at the rest of them. Are you interested in pursuing anything in the Transfiguration field? There are certain skills that are useful in my old line of work…Sure you can put the pieces together. Sorry to hear about your Charms professor – anything I can do to help? grey xavier slater

It’s a possibility I suppose. Claire is rather straightforward about things, unless it’s talking about herself. I know a few people like that though, ones that talk a lot but not being useful. Could do with a few less of them. None taken. I’ve been told I’d be a better Hufflepuff, but here I am. Guess some things are meant to be. I’d prefer it to be done with. Skills as in being an animagus? Thought about it. Slightly worried I’d get something stupid though, like a really lazy dog. @poet

Ah, so maybe I was off base in thinking that. Eventually you learn how to tune out all the drivel.
Sometimes I think it would be fun if we got to switch houses for a day, to see if we really belonged where we were put. Then again, that could end up bad…Imagine a Hufflepuff thrown into the snake pit.
Yes, that was what I was thinking about. I know someone who knows someone who’s a dog Animagus, so I think I’m going to have to contend your point that it’s stupid. The more common animals are more useful for everything except showing off. If you wanted to try to learn to be an Animagus, I could hook you up. grey xavier slater

If it happens eventually, then I have something to look forward to. I think we’d all be surprised to see that Hufflepuffs could actually fight back. Their mascot is a badger after all. Not all, but I’m sure there are some that could hold their own. But the fleas? Those can’t be fun. I’m sure getting scratched by people all the time is fun…I don’t know. I’ve never really talked to an animagus before, so I really shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions like that. I’ve heard that usually an animagus form is the same as a person’s patronus, in which case I guess I’d be a crow… If you couldn’t tell, that means I’m interested in learning. @poet

I know one or two that definitely would fight back – myself included. Sometimes the problem is that Hufflepuffs feel that, because of their reputation, they’re not allowed to defend themselves. Doesn’t look good if the house of patience and kindness is beating someone up.
If you have good hygiene, then fleas aren’t a problem. Well, consider yourself educated now. An Animagus form isn’t always the same as a Patronus – mine isn’t. (Surprise, the person I was talking about is me!)
What time works for you? My schedule is flexible due to my current profession, and since I have connections on the Hogwarts campus, it shouldn’t be hard for me to get to the school, if you do want me to teach you. grey xavier slater
