Liona was suddenly thoughtful at his words about someone trying to get into her head. She loved him but he didn't seem to listen to well either. Any and all secrets that she had, she would take to her grave if she wanted to. There was no one or nothing that would be able to take those from her and she'd make sure of it. She would never allow herself to be put into a position where someone could coax them out of her; even using something like Veritaserum wouldn't work considering you had to ask the right questions to get the right answers and she was certain she could skate her way around direct truths to get free. Even then, she'd never allow Veritaserum to touch her lips if she could help it. She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Hmm. Maybe I could find someone to teach me Occlumency just in case. I can't think of anyone bold enough to try to get into my head." She was pretty sure her father was an Occlumens but having him teach her and being in her head would be well beyond awkward. Maybe she could find someone else to do it. "There is no need to get defensive Scor, I'm just saying it's nice to see you happy with someone," she smiled at him when he laughed at her words.
"'Suffer' is definitely not a word I would want to use when talking about my last few months of school," her mouth had turned up into a smirk though she was trying to hide it poorly. It was unfortunate, the position he found himself in. He'd placed himself in the middle of two family members; one who actually wanted him and wanted who just wanted to screw with him. It really was his own fault and she found herself returning to her early words. She wished he'd just have dated Rose Weasley first so all of this could have been avoided. Love never worked like that though, unfortunately. She gave a frown though her amusement was still visible. He really wanted her to call him a fool? "I will do no such thing. Calling you an idiot won't change nor help anything. As I said, you're happier now, you've learned your lesson. We both get something out of it; you get to learn and I get to see you happy with someone who is at your level," she beamed through her giggle.
Liona snorted at his relentless questioning of Divination N.E.W.Ts. It did sound like he was bashing the subject but she didn't really care because, as was the case with most people who loved the subject, she was used to people bashing it as a flighty form of magic. That is what people often forgot; it is a form of magic. It could easily be one of the most powerful when utilized correctly because it did predict the future often. She wouldn't be surprised if everything that had been going on recently with Elaine and the uprising had been predicted earlier and no one had cared to listen because they didn't believe it. "Reading tea leaves was an O.W.Ls level task. I'm sure they're going to have us make a few more general predictions using the more advanced types of Divination we've learned as sixth and seventh years." They'd learned so many types since then though that it was really a mystery which ones they'd ask them to perform. She hoped Astrology would be one of them desperately. She nodded and smiled along as he talked about his studying. She would start studying at some point soon. Definitely soon. The thought made her want to groan but she had to if she wanted to get at least an E in Divination. .
She simpered, placing her hand on her chest at what she was taking as a compliment from him. He was right though, she was sure there was some kind of position that existed in the Department where someone could assist with all research available. Other than the Head of the department of course. It would make sense to have someone who could weigh in on a particular aspect of research, maybe one that all of the departments had to partake in. She'd figure it out once she joined their ranks. "We both know that regulations only go so far. There will always be someone out there who figures out a way around it. Of course there are still people out there who just don't care about the regulations and will do what they wish. It's a sad thought but the government is just for show, their rules and regulations just a suggestion," she responded with a sigh. He was right of course, everything that was put in place was to protect people from their own idiotic decisions and yet there were those who still chose to pursue stupid ideas.

@lionaanna Occlumency. That was definitely an ambitious skill to take on. Scorpius knew his father was one, or had the training for it at least. Although that was brought on him during a different time, and the mention of it know would probably awaken some rather distasteful memories. That was the last thing he would want to do. From what he understood of his classmates who had parents that fought in the war, it was an even mix on whether or not their parents shared their stories of how it went down. The Malfoys hadn’t been the type to mince words or beat around the bush, especially considering that some of the deeds done by his father and grandparents were beyond inexcusable at certain points in time. Sometimes he wondered if his grandparents would still prefer it to be the way that it had been before. There was no way of knowing anymore, since they basically played it by the book. At the same time, it was good to know of what his heritage was like. Learning from past mistakes to avoid them this time around was a smart outlook on life in his opinion. Even if they were mistakes made by his relatives and not him. There was always a lesson to be learned somewhere. “If you learn Occlumency, I’ll try my hand at Legilimency,” he stated. “That way you can have a real challenge.” That and he would have a higher form of magic to practice upon graduating. Looking forward to a new challenge was what growing was all about.
“Suffer in the sense that it’ll be what I’ll feel in the moment. I’m sure I’ll look back on it fondly,” he reasoned. In the end, intensive studying for the exams was helping him as a whole. Reinforcing old subject matter and recalling things he may have forgotten about or lazily glazed over the first time he had learned it. Lazy meaning that he hadn’t fully committed it to memory like he normally did. He still knew what everything was, because that was just how he worked. Sometimes he wondered why Slytherin was his house, and not Ravenclaw. A few buttons had definitely been pushed over the years when it came to him and the Ravenclaws. Rose was the best example of that. “You’re right. Lesson learned,” Scorpius affirmed. “Was still an idiot though,” he added quickly, just to get the last word in.
Reading tea leaves was an O.W.L level task. Had he heard Liona correctly? Wasn’t that one of the easiest parts of the course? Again, Scorpius wasn’t one to judge since he wasn’t particularly inclined in that area and really did not have the right to state otherwise. Clearly she knew what she was talking about, and he couldn’t question that in the slightest. “I’m sure it has its fair share of useful knowledge. Just like astronomy.” Hopefully that didn’t sound cruel, considering his own mother taught that class. It was another area that he really didn’t see helping him in his career moving forward. There was a difference between being practical with his skills, and idealistic with those like divination and astronomy. Something anyone could do was far more reasonable than something that only a handful could see, or a part of the universe that was still being discovered. Someone had to do it though, and that was most certainly not him.
“Are they just a suggestion though?” He questioned her train of thought. “Terrible things can happen if you don’t follow the rules, especially in a department where literally everything is a mystery. If there would be any time to do that, it would be then.” Scorpius knew what happened when people broke away from the norm and tried to become independent of what the Ministry wanted. That wasn’t to necessarily say that thinking as an individual was a bad thing; if anything, he encouraged that more than group thought. “Who knows though? I guess we’ll find out once we’re hired.”

Liona grinned at Scorpius as he stated he would be glad to be her practice partner if she were to learn Occlumency. It wasn't actually a bad idea but she also wasn't sure if she wanted Scorpius in her head either. He was right though in that he would be a great challenge for her because she was sure that he would be great at Leglimency and if she wanted to become great at it, what better way than to keep someone out with enough power to succeed in breaking in. "Now that the idea is out there I actually do want to learn it. And I will take you up on that if you are serious. It actually might be a good idea to learn both considering where we'll be working," she thought out loud. On the off chance they encounter someone who wouldn't believe their cover story, it would be better to be able to keep someone from delving into their mind and learning of any dangerous research they may be involved in.
She could only chuckle at his continued insistence that he'd been an idiot over Ondina because she knew that there was no stopping him. As strange as it was, she could understand why he did it. She would have been shocked too had she been blinded so thoroughly by someone she cared about. Of course she hoped that time never came because she'd feel even more like an idiot than Scorpius did now. She prided herself on being one who could see through facades easily considering she wore one everyday and to think that she'd be fooled upset her.
With his continued disbelief, she shrugged her shoulders and nodded though she wanted to snicker at his comment about astronomy. If Aunt Tori had heard him say that, she could imagine the disappointed look she would give him because she loved the subject she taught. His disbelief was a little disappointing but, again, she couldn't pretend she was surprised. She would just have to prove him wrong too one way or another. She thought about trying to look into the future of his and Rose's relationship and she smirked just a little bit to herself. As appealing as it was, she would rather not pry into his privacy in such a way to upset him. She was sure she'd get her chance.
"When you really think about it, yes, laws put in place are just suggestions. They need aurors and other man power to enforce them but they can't be everywhere at once always enforcing them," she gave voice to her thoughts. "I'm sure because the Department of Mysteries researches more of the unknown, there are less regulations but I'm sure what regulations exist are strict. Like the one that requires its workers not to reveal themselves as members of the department. Just a theory but we shall see." She could talk day and night about what theories she had about the department but none of them were true until she was able to prove them herself. She really could not wait to graduate now.
"Well I am going to take my leave now dearest cousin as I'm sure I've overstayed my welcome," she commented with a grin. "I know you wish to get back to your studying so I will bother you some other time. Unless I have decided to fall into my own abyss of studying that is." she gave a faux frown before she smiled lovingly at him and stood. "Make sure you're taking breaks. Bye." she blew a kiss before making her way out of the library, stopping and apologizing sincerely to the librarian and asking that they not be too hard on him. Once that was done, she walked out of the doors to find something that definitely wasn't studying to do.

@lionaanna Scorpius didn’t realize how excited it made him to hear that he could take his cousin up on mental magic like Occlumency and Legilimency. While it had simply been an offer, in the case that she had some kind of aspirations to learn it, now it seemed more like a reality. He liked when those kinds of things happened. “Whenever you’re ready to start, let me know. I’ve done some preliminary research on it before. Shouldn’t be too hard to learn, considering who we are and all that,” Scorpius shrugged. He was pretty sure his father could give him a few pointers when it came to starting off. “And if it’s difficult, I’m sure there is a professor that knows all about it and could teach us.” Learning was Scorpius’s passion after all. He was never opposed to asking for help should he need it. Apparently some thought he was too good for that. It was more like everything came naturally and he didn’t have to ask questions often, and if he did, it was in private. He supposed they had different interpretations of what following rules and regulations meant, but Scorpius could see where Liona was coming from. She wasn’t wrong about the rumors of department workers not revealing what it was they did; they had already been over the consequences of what would happen if said employees did spill the beans. “Point taken. We shall see,” he laughed slightly. There was so much uncertainty about working in the department of mysteries, yet that exact same reason was what drew him into it. All in due time. Patiently waiting was all he could at this point. “So soon?” Scorpius joked as Liona stated that she needed to leave. “Studying isn’t that important,” he rolled his eyes dramatically. “Or is it? You know its fun when you really get down to it.” He didn’t want to tease her too much, lest she decided to join him for a study session. It was starting to become apparent that he was trying to do work that was months out, and he really didn’t need to be this passionate about it. The tests would be a breeze for him, there was no denying that. “You can’t make me,” he joked again at her comment about taking breaks as she left. Looking down at his notebook once more, Scorpius started to scribble out the rest of his notes. After this was finished, he was going to take a nice, long break from studying. Maybe for a day or two. No more than that though. Slacking off too much would be out of character for him. [The End]
