Whether Viola believed her or not didn't matter. Maria had meant it when she said she wasn't going anywhere. She knew that their whole relationship, whatever shape it took, wasn't temporary. The attraction between them was too strong. Like magnets. Whether that meant attraction to each other, or apart. Right now it was together. But someday? Maybe that would change. Just not today. "Don't thank me for doing something that I want." Maria scolded softly. She finally pulled away, taking Viola's hands in each of her own. "Now.... come on. You didn't bring me out here just to hug, did you? Let's enjoy ourselves a bit while we're here." She offered, squeezing their hands as she spoke.
@viola (No idea how much longer we want this to continue? you decide.)

Maria said not to thank her for doing something she wanted, and Viola shook their head a little. Even if she wanted to do it, that still didn’t mean that it wasn’t hard. Maria pulled away, and Viola let out a long, slow breath. They hadn’t been holding their breath, but holding Maia had been a harrowing experience in a way that Viola never imagined embracing someone could be. They smiled at her, squeezing her hands in return, and then began to pull her down another aisle of flowers, one that was further from the door, still deep in thought. The problem, Viola thought, was not they cared too much. And Maria cared, too, but maybe not enough to match them, which meant that this whole thing was not going to end well. Maria was going to break their heart someday.
They were going to enjoy every bit of being broken.
@maria (le end)
