Today was the day. Theodosia hadn't been on all that tight of a timeline to use the potion Elaine had given her - the Dark Lady had given her over a month to complete her task - but she would rather have it over with sooner, so that she could have her report fully formulated and ready for the next time she was called to meet Elaine. The Purifiers hadn't had a meeting as a group for quite some time, which Theodosia could understand, but she was rather looking forward to Elaine's praise for a job well done. Theodosia had chosen her target carefully. one of the foreign girls - well, several of them, actually - was part-Veela. What made this particular part-Veela special was that there were rumors that she could control fire with nothing but her own two hands. Theodosia was interested in seeing what sort of things would happen if a pyromancer saw their worse fears in front of their eyes. Theodosia hadn't been given much information on how long it would take the potion to go into effect, so she had taken a fire-retardant potion that morning as a precautionary measure. Now all she had to do was dose her victim. Theodosia walked up to the other girl, eager smile on her face. She could play the part of an adoring fan well enough, if she did say so herself. "Is it true that you can control fire?" Theodosia gushed. "That's sooo cool!"

Maria was lagging behind when it came to breakfast, again, and had missed her usual breakfast company. It seemed that most of her usual companions were more concerned about getting to their classes on time or finishing up homework while Maria was more concerned about not wanting to get up early and then taking far to much time to do her hair and make up. No doubt Elias and Viola hadn't felt like waiting for her that morning. They just didn't understand the importance of personal appearance (at least not in the same way she did.) Most morning Maria would put up a fuss and force one of them to wait for her, but she wasn't much in the mood today. So, after taking her sweet time in getting ready, Maria had finally made it to the Great Hall for breakfast and taken up a spot by herself. She'd just finished filling her goblet and her plate with some fruit when a younger girl approached. Smiling like a fan girl. Maria immediately raised an eyebrow. She didn't know this girl at all, but by the robes... Well, she was one of those Slytherins. "I control fire about as well as most people control their tongue." Maria answered simply as she popped a grape into her mouth, only continuing after chewing. "Which is to say not at all. I make fire. Big difference." Maria smirked at that moment, and ate another grape. "But yes. It's very cool." At least she thought so. Fire did happen to be one of her favorite things.

Theodosia smirked a little to herself when Maria said that she controlled fire the way other people controlled their tongues. People didn’t always need to be out of control of their tongues for Theodosia to hear things, but she did appreciate the candor. Despite the morbid amusement she found in that statement, Theodosia kept her starry-eyed expression on her face. “Can I sit by you?” Theodosia asked, already moving to position herself next to the other girl, on her right side, where her goblet was positioned. “I’ve never met someone with a special power before.” Theo added as she settled herself in. Lie, but Maria was a fire-starter, not a Legilimens, so the fact that Theo had lied wasn’t going to be a problem. The Slytherin began dishing herself up some pancakes and sausage, humming a little as she did so. She was using all of the reaching motions as an opportunity to move the potion from its position in her sleeve down to her palm, being as surreptitious about it as possible. She had wrapped the bottle in cloth so that the glass wouldn’t glint in the lights of the candles. Now all there was left to do was distract Maria long enough to slip the potion in. She would probably stick around for a little longer after that to keep Maria from becoming suspicious, but once she could get out safely, Theodosia would. She didn’t want to end up in the line of fire.

Okay. This girl was really acting like a fan girl. It was slightly unnerving but also amusing. So, when asking if she could join Maria, the Durmstrang girl motioned at the seat in particular. "Not at all, though I do require to know the name of anyone who wants to join me. Especially when they're as pretty as you." A hopeless flirt. Maria took every opportunity possible, even with complete strangers. Totally unashamed of her behavior.
"Doesn't that depend on your definition of a 'special power'?" Maria questioned as she took a sip from her goblet before setting it back down on the table between her and this Slytherin as she picked away at the fruit on her plate. She seemed completely unconcerned by the presence of this girl, not even giving her a glance except for every once in a while.

Theodosia smiled a little brighter when Maria said she didn’t mind her sitting down. That was good, considering that they had already taken a seat. Her smile froze for just a moment when Maria called them pretty. Shit. She hadn’t thought about this – the Veela Charm. Theodosia forced her smile to become a little shier, looking away from Maria when she answered. “Theodosia. Theodosia Washington.” She figured that giving a fake name would be suspicious, especially if Maria discovered that she had been duped. “I’m not all that pretty…” She added, peering at Maria up through her lashes. Oh, this was even more fun than she had thought it was going to be - she had an excuse to flirt with a beautiful girl now.
Maria wasn’t looking at her, and Theo already had the bottle in her hand, so in a flash, she poured the yellow liquid into the pumpkin juice in the goblet, plucking a sausage off her plate on the return swipe in case Maria happened to be looking when she was withdrawing her hand. “Well, I don’t think that anyone could be as special as you.” Theo said. “But I mean, the coolest thing I’ve seen is wandless magic…” Theodosia trailed off. She wasn’t going to ask for a demonstration outright, but if Maria wanted to flaunt her skill, then why not see it in action, before it was used for destruction?

Maria tilted her head and looked back at the girl, Theodosia as she introduced herself and said she wasn't that pretty. The look Maria currently wore was a mix between amusement and pity. "Well, Theodosia. I happen to have a very good eye for pretty things. And I have never been wrong before now." Maria started to answer confidently. She paused only for a moment and when she spoke again her voice softened. "Are you sure you want to be the first one to prove me wrong?" Maria didn't bother hiding the smirk.
Her gaze didn't return to Theodosia until the girl had spoken again, laying it on almost as thick as Maria herself. Maria braced an elbow on the table and her head in her hand. She'd completely missed Theodosia pouring something into her drink. "And how special do you think I am?" She couldn't help but ask curiously. One, because she was a vain person and liked hearing people compliment her, but also because she wanted to know just what Theodosia might say. As she waited for an answer she raised her goblet with her free hand and took another sip.

This was an interesting, interesting game, and now that she had fulfilled her purpose, Theodosia intended to play it to the finest. “Perhaps you have a good eye for pretty things,” Theo admitted, “But are all of them pretty things that you can have?” No one knew that Theodosia liked girls, though she had to say that she was being more than a bit obvious for her preference in partners when it came to Maria. That didn’t mean that Maria could have her, though – Theodosia didn’t think Elaine would approve of seducing her victim. That hadn’t been in the plan. “I do like to be right, but I’m not sure if it’s worth proving you wrong…” Theodosia said, voice still syrupy sweet. The best lies always came with a grain of truth, and Theodosia definitely did like to be right.
Maria asked how special she was, and Theodosia blinked a few times before answering. “How special do you want to be?” She was playing the part of eager to please, and how much easier would that be if she knew what Maria wanted to hear. Theodosia would say just about anything, especially if it meant a clean getaway when the time came.

"No, not always... But most of the time... " Maria didn't finish that sentence. She didn't necessarily have to because her meaning was quite clear. Maria was not the sort that often took no for an answer. Viola... Yes, Viola could tell her no. But everyone else? Especially pretty little things like this... Well, it was very possible that the girl wasn't interested in women. But from the way Theodosia acted she just might be interested, or at the very least curious. "Even if I can't have them though that doesn't mean I can't.... appreciate the beauty." Appreciate was one way of putting it. But even if she couldn't play with them she could enjoy from afar. Smirking widely Maria took another sip from her drink and took a few bites from her plate. "You wouldn't like me much when I'm proven wrong. I'm much more fun when right." If Maria was wrong... Well, there wasn't much point in continuing a conversation with Theodosia was there?
Maria's plate was just about cleared when Theodosia returned her question with another. She raised an eyebrow in sync with raising her goblet to finally down the remainder of her pumpkin juice. She didn't respond yet, because she could hear her name being called out from the corridor outside the Great Hall. She moved to stand, setting the empty goblet on the table and moved to leave. She only stopped to place a hand on Theodosia's shoulder and lean in to whisper into her ear. "I can be as special as you want me to be, Theodosia." Her name was called from the corridor once more, and Maria left without another word.
