Dusti had been avoiding Albus for several days. Totally and completely ignoring her boyfriend because of some silly grudge she had against Lucy Weasley and Albus being a decent enough person to help his cousin out. And Dusti, even after realizing how stupid this all was refused to try and make amends. She was stubborn like that, unyielding. Even more so since her newest status as orphan (She did't consider her biological father as a... well father. Seeing as he played no role in her life.). But, despite her refusal to apologize to Albus she'd come to realize very quickly how hard ignoring him was. They shared so many of the same 'hiding spots', places to get away from others, they shared many of the same friends, they even had several similar interests. Basically it was completely natural to be constantly surrounded by her boyfriend but when you were fighting it was downright infuriating.
At least today she'd found some sort of privacy up on the Astronomy tower. While curfew was still a few hours away the sun was already setting and the stars were coming out. This was why Dusti loved the tower. To just lean up against the stone wall and stair up at the stars as they appeared. They had Astronomy tonight, and the class was the only reason for any students to ever be out of their dormitory after curfew. You couldn't exactly star gaze when there were no stars. Obviously Dusti was extremely early. The sun hadn't even set and the class wasn't until midnight. Until then though, Dusti planned on staying up here alone. Normally Albus would be with her. They'd talk or cuddle as they watched constellations appear. Obviously she was very alone tonight though. She'd conjured a blanket and wrapped it around herself to fight off at least some of the cold but her breath still came out in visible puffs and her cheeks were a touch rosy from winter's bite. Still she didn't move. Just stayed here, sitting against the wall with the blanket around her shoulders and watching the stars flicker into existence.

@dusti it had been a trying few days to say the least. it was strange suddenly not spending time with dusti, they did so much together that her not being with him felt weird. they'd even started taking to spending the nights together in either his dorm or the common room for the last while so dusti didn't have to deal with the girls she'd roomed with. as strange as it seemed he'd found sleep eluding him as he tried to sleep on his own in his dorm. it was for that reason that al had found himself heading up to the astronomy tower. he found fresh air and the sense of calm the tower provided could sometimes help him sleep and if he couldn't well at least he could lay in bed and think about the stars. though it seemed dusti had had the same thought as him. he came to a stop when he saw her sitting there, wrapped in a blanket. it took everything in him not to walk over there and gather her into his arms. they almost ached at the sight of her and knowing that he couldn't hold her close. he steeled himself against it though, folding them over his chest instead as he made his way over to where she was sitting quietly, moving to take a seat about a meter away from her. "looks like it's going to be a nice night."

Star gazing wasn't exactly distracting Dusti from her thoughts. She'd taken to mentally saying the names of constellations she spotted, trying to keep her thoughts organized but each time they would wander without fail after only a few minutes. Her head was just full, overflowing, all the time. So much had happened this school year that she wondered how her head hadn't exploded yet. To make it even more intense she'd received a letter yesterday. One that she wasn't sure how to process quite yet, but couldn't talk to anyone about because she was fighting with the one person she wanted to tell first. So, she'd taken to carrying the letter around, just staring at it periodically and trying to decide what to do. Even now the letter was tucked away in her bag just to the side of her, it's presence a constant distraction.
Dusti didn't hear Albus' approach, or him sitting down a safe distance away. Only once he spoke did she realize his presence. Letting out another puff of a cold breath she dropped her gaze from the night skies and turned to stare at her boyfriend only a short distance away. There was a moment of silence as she contemplated what she wanted to say to him. Finally she beckoned him closer as she unwrapped the blanket from her shoulders and lay half of it's length across her lap and holding up the other end for him. Her offer didn't require words. While the skies were clear, a great night for star gazing it was also quite cold and the last thing she wanted was for him to freeze out.

@dusti this was the one thing he loved about his relationship with dusti. they didn't need words. they didn't need to pay attention to each other twenty four seven. the moment that passed between them, both looking at each other in the darkening light of the world around them and he almost smile when he saw her drop the blanket from around her and open it up for him. he took the invitation quickly, closing the gap between them and sliding to sit next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist lightly so there was less space between them and he draped his half over himself. he knew it would take a while for things to get back to how they'd been. while he didn't regret what he'd done, after all, family was important to him, he knew it would take some time for her to get over it and he was okay with that. he let out a sigh, almost content in the moment and squeezed his arm around her lightly, holding her slightly tighter.

Dusti didn't forgive easily. Never had. But considering her past it made complete sense. She hadn't been raised in an environment where she could forgive. Her childhood had been harsh and destructive. And things like "forgiveness" had been almost literally beat out of her. Not only that but she absolutely hated Lucy (considering the two had had an actuall physical fight earlier in the year it wasn't surprising.). So no. She hadn't forgiven Albus. She still absolutely hated rhat he helped Lucy, of all people. Nor would she apologize for her reaction to the news or for that arguement. And Albus knew that. He wasn't demanding an apology from her. But Dusti didn't expect him to either. Just like she wasn't expecting him to apologize either. They were the sort of people that could just bury it without any apologizes, not admitting one of them was right or wrong.
Dusti didn't utter a single word as Albus scooted into the spot next to her and wrapped one arm loosely around her waist. Normally Dusti didn't like people in her personal space but years of friendship (and now dating) had made her tolerant to his presence. In fact she enjoyed it but she wouldn't admit that aloud easily. Only once he was settled and squeezed that arm around her waist tighter, pulling her closer, did she finally utter a sound. A deep breath, followed shortly by words. "A professional teams wants me to play for them after graduation." she wasn't one for sugar coating or small talk so of course that was the first thing that came out. The subject that had been on her mind for days.

@dusti "A professional teams wants me to play for them after graduation." he raised a brow slightly as she blurted out the big news and he turned his head to look at her. that was great. the smile slipped onto his face easily and he nodded slightly. what teams wouldn't want her? she was brilliant and he was fairly certain that was an unbiased opinion. she managed to wrangle a group of people that should be unruly given their nature and made them a well oiled machine capable of winning games. she deserved the praise. "that's awesome dusti." he said, the honesty ripe in his voice as he looked back over the view that was cast before them. "you'll take the quidditch world by storm, i just know it." he said with a smile.

Dusti didn't look at Albus as he processed what she said but she could feel his own gaze on her. It wasn't that she didn't think he'd be happy for her. It was more... she didn't know what she wanted to do. Healer or Professional Quidditch player? Some people say there wasn't any choice about it. The answer was obvious. And while Dusti liked Quidditch, loved it actually, playing professionally would bring something very unwelcome in her life. The spotlight.
Dusti was secretive by nature and highly suspicious of anyone and everyone. Both facts Albus knew well because he often had to deal with her hostility towards others. Only after he'd spoken did she lower her gaze from the sky and look at her boyfriend, expression hard to read. "I don't know if I want to take the offer." she explained slowly. She must be mad for even considering not taking it. "I'm not the sort of person meant for the spotlight, Al." she explained, though he'd already know that. How could she expect to do well as a Quidditch player when she couldn't even stand most people?

@dusti "I don't know if I want to take the offer." he could understand that too. he could see both sides of wanting to take it and not wanting to take it. he hadn't thought about flying professionally because he was already in the spotlight enough, being the son of the 'great' harry potter. "then don't take it. i won't try and sway you either way dust." he told her, honestly. "i will support you though, whatever you decide." he needed to be serious about that for a moment. it was something he felt strongly about and while his feelings weren't generally his strongest point he needed her to know that he was there for her. "I'm not the sort of person meant for the spotlight, Al." he chuckled a little without meaning to, the sound slipping from his mouth before he could stop it and he shrugged. "not liking people didn't stop victor krum from being great." he said, joking a little. "i mean if there's a poster boy for anti social he was it in school, apparently." he understood not wanting to be in the spotlight. he'd spent years trying to keep out of it and to get away from his family name, in order to be his own person but he didn't think a little joking was in bad taste. he was just trying to see if she'd smile or he could make the point that it might not be as bad as she thought. but he couldn't know that for sure, only she could.

Albus made it sound so.... simple. Take it or don't. It felt so much more complicated in her mind. Things that she needed to consider in all options. And yet... the simplicity of Al's words seemed to settle the swirling thoughts and complications. She didn't respond though, staring out at the stars, deep in thought. Carefully mulling over his words.
But his chuckle brought her from her thoughts and she turned her head to frown at him. What was so funny? His comment that followed answered that question. She still didn't find it that funny though. Viktor Krum didn't have her history. He was antisocial because it was his personality. Hers was out of self defense. "And what if people pry?" she asked. Pried into her life. Into her history. Into her parents. "I don't want want people I don't trust knowing certain things about me, Al." Albus, of course, was one of the only people that knew everything. That knew where she'd gotten her scars and why she was so guarded and defensive. Who knew about the emotional, verbal, and physical abuse. What if being in the spotlight brought that all out?

@dusti "And what if people pry? I don't want want people I don't trust knowing certain things about me, Al." he understood that. he'd wanted a private life growing up. he'd hated the spotlight. his brother james had relished in it and lily could survive in any situation, that's who they were. but al, he'd hated it. shied away from it and had grown up almost resenting it. "people are always going to pry dust." he said. he was trying to be honest and he knew that it wouldn't exactly make her feel better. "people are curious. no matter what job you do, spotlight or not, if people are trying to get to know you, they'll pry." he said, rubbing his hand down her arm lightly. "from the quidditch pitch to the cauldron, doesn't matter where you are." he knew it was something he was going to have to face too. when he left school and joined the auror program. learning to trust new people would be the big issue too, there was something about strangers that made al see them as untrustworthy, often through no fault of their own. he just wasn't a very trusting person.
