Theodosia was getting quite riled up, and it was positively delicious. The girl didn't seem like the sort you'd want to mess with, but neither was Maria. If anything Maria was an extremely dangerous individual because she had no real goal or reason for acting the way she did. There was a saying about people doing things just because they wanted to see the world burn, and Maria did like burning things. Maria tilted her head from side to side as Theodosia sharply exclaimed she could take what she wanted and that not everyone wanted Maria. True. Not everyone did. But there was one very easy way to know when people did. "Do you mean other people, or yourself? Because you should probably know something if it's the latter." She started to smirk as she paused for a moment. "You should know that Veela charm doesn't work if you didn't want me in some way."
Maria shrugged at the next sharp comment. Of course things didn't have to be her way! "If people always did what I wanted life would be very boring." she answered casually. "But I think the real question here is what do you want, Theodosia? If you don't enjoy the chase I can always stop, after all." She could find another person to entertain her if she needed to. But Theodosia was interesting. She'd tried to come off as so innocent at first but her fangs were starting to show. And Maria really liked it when people had a bite to them.

Theodosia was fuming by the time Maria finished speaking. She had already known that she liked girls for quite some time, but it was annoying that someone else could find out easily just because of who – or what – she happened to be. “Physical attraction is just one level.” Theodosia said, jutting her chin up in an attempt to seem confident. She wasn’t sure whether she was implying that she was only attracted to Maria in the physical sense or if she was attracted to the part-Veela in some other way, but Theodosia was hoping that her confidence would at least keep the other girl from asking too many questions. Given the way the conversation had gone so far, that wasn’t likely, but Theodosia could hope.
Maria said that if people always did what she wanted, life would be boring, but to Theodosia, that sounded ideal. Boring, yes, but she would have her power. She would have everything that she wanted! She would trade that for a little bit of boredom any day. At Maria’s question about what she wanted, Theodosia’s eyes sharpened slightly. “You don’t have to stop chasing me.” Theodosia said, voice slow and measured. “But don’t expect me to stop running.”

Maria chuckled. Who cared about the other levels of attraction? Being a vain individual she knew she was good looking. She knew that she could manipulate people to do what she wanted just with her looks. She'd never cared much to get to know people on a deeper level than physical appearances and intimacy. "Who cares about anything more than that?" she asked slowly, teasingly, leaning in just a little so only Theodosia would hear her. "Everything else is just so messy. Who needs it? You should learn to indulge a little, Theodosia. Do things simply because you want to." her voice was still slow and silky, dropping with suggestion. She didn't always intentionally use her Veela charm, but it was coming out once more, as natural as breathing. "Especially here at Hogwarts. You can get away with whatever you want, no one to stop you except yourself. If you want something you should take it." Oh, Maria wanted to take plenty but she felt pushing much more would be inadvisable at the moment. Theodosia needed to warm up to the ideas a bit more first.
She leaned away, and moved to get up, but stopped once both her legs were out from other the table and smiled, brushing her hair off her shoulder in the same moment. "I won't. But don't expect to run forever." she answered, using the same words in return. "Ciao." with that she left. Mildly entertained by the Slytherin's defensiveness, and curious if this game of cat and mouse had an ending she'd want or if she'd eventually lose interest.
