Jamie said it was fine, even though she didn't even know it all. Then, the blonde started to speak again and Andys eyebrows both raised with expectation but... she stopped. But Jamie was then closer, and offering her hands. Andy looked down at them, then realized how clenched her own hands were now. A nervous laugh came out of her lips, and she slowly released the chair. She took in a deep breath, "I've never had a friend like you, Jamie," she shook her head, not realizing that she was smiling now. "I've lived in a world without you before," she explained slowly, her eyes still on Jamie's hands, "and it wasn't a good place," she said softly.
When she was in the hospital it felt like she was in a world all her own most of the time. The only person who felt constantly present was Nat, and even she was vague and fuzzy. She finally let her hands find Jamies, and squeezed them tightly, "I almost killed those men, Jamie," she finally said, her voice firm. She looked up at Jamie. "But something stopped me and..." deep breath, "I didn't know what it was at the time. But," she looked up at Jamie, "I think it was you. And Nat, and Phil, and Susan and little pieces of everyone I would let down if I became..." my father, she thought. She swallowed hard as her eyes started to mist over.

Jamie’s heart clenched slightly when Andy said that she’d never had a friend like the Hufflepuff before. That was such a concise way of stating what Jamie couldn’t find words for. Everything she felt for Andy was different, like it passed through some sort of haze before making it into her heart. Andy was different. “The world without you wasn’t a good place either, Andy.” Jamie whispered. The world before Andy was a world where Jamie wasn’t quite sure if there could be a life beyond being Fenrir’s daughter. But Andy had shown her that not only was there a life beyond it, there was a beautiful life. A life where she learned to play songs for people she loved and a life where she could sit with her knees pressed against someone else’s and show her heart without being afraid of what would happen when she did.
“Almost.” Jamie repeated, to remind Andy of it. That was the key word. Andy hadn’t done it, because she still had a conscience. At her heart, she was a good person. And Jamie wasn’t ever going to let Andy forget that. “If you did let us down, and I’m not saying that you did, it would be because we know that you are worth so much more than that.” Andy wasn’t a murderer. She was… Andy. “I love you, Andy.” Jamie said. “I wish I could do more than just love you, but I don’t know how, so for now… I just hope that it’s enough.” There was no feeling as awful as knowing that she was failing to help her friend, but Jamie wanted Andy to know it wasn’t from lack of trying.

Andy hardly believed Jamie's words when she whispered. She had a hard time fathoming the notion that the world without her wasn't a good place. For a long time she assumed it was a better place. A much better place. But, as she suggested in terms of hurting those men, she knew the world was a place where friends were important now, and family, and she had all of those things in Jamie. So, she could be a little understanding of the fact that Jamie wanted her around too. Andy didn't say anything for another moment. It wasn't in awkward silence by any means, there was just no need to speak.
Almost, Jamie repeated. Jamie knew just what to say, and it was like she wasn't even trying. Jamie was the best friend, just by being herself. As Jamie went on to say, that Andy was worth more than that, than being a murderer, Andy just agreed with her eyes, but didn't speak yet. Then Jamie said she loved her, saying that she wished she could do more and that she hoped it was enough. "Well," Andy started softly her voice a little hoarse, "that, and a little music," she nodded toward the violin, not breaking eye contact, "is all I need." She smiled softly, her eyebrows furrowing a little as her face muscles try to convey her emotions. "And I love you, too." She she leaned forward to gently plant a kiss on Jamie's lips before pulling her hands from Jamie's and wrapping her in a hug. She squeezed her tightly, before chuckling a little, "and I expect more songs from you. Don't think you're getting away with just the one."

Jamie smiled when Andy said that love and a little music were enough. She loved it when she was able to actually help people, instead of just sit there and flounder and wonder how she could help keep her friends and family from the darkness – both the darkness that nipped at the edges of the world they were living in, but also the darkness within. Everyone had darkness inside of them – Jamie knew as much because there was a time when she, too, had considered letting it win – but it was so easy to spread light, too, as long as she knew what sort of light the people that she loved needed. “I will do that.” She had been about to say that she could do that, but of course Andy already knew what Jamie was capable of. Having the capabilities was all well and good, but ultimately useless unless they were actually acted on. Jamie smiled into the kiss that Andy planted on her lips, enjoying the warmth that lingered there. Even when she was the one who was supposed to be comforting Andy, the Gryffindor always made the Hufflepuff feel as if everything was going to be okay. The hug felt just as good, and Jamie regretted that Andy had to let go. “I’m learning how to read music soon, and then your songs will be unlimited.” Jamie promised. If she could, she would’ve composed Andy a song, but Jamie knew that for all of her unexpected musical talent, she wasn’t meant to be a composer. She could follow instructions, but not make them up as she went along. “So if you have any requests, submit them now.” Jamie teased.

Andy appreciated Jamie's clarification of how she would do it, not just that she could. Jamie was... For lack of a better word, perfect. Andy didn't believe anyone really was but Jamie was near perfect for her. Jamie suggested that Andy make her requests now, since Jamie was learning how to read music soon. Andy chuckled and stood up. "Oh. I've got plenty," she said, half teasing since she really hadn't though of any yet. She reached into her bag and pulled out parchment and a self inking quill. "Okay. Let's make a list," she smirked with excitement, moving to sit half on the arm of Jamie's chair and half on Jamie's leg. She leaned into her friend, placing the parchment on her own leg and looking down at the blonde, "obviously we need some duets in there..." she suggested with a satisfied nod before turning her attention back to the paper.
She started to write and quickly lost track of time as to how long they sat there talking about music and songs. For a moment, a sweet moment, Andy felt like nothing bad had ever happened to her. Like she never existed before this moment.
