Kinsey was glad that Dustin didn't seem annoyed with her. Instead he save her a side hug, telling her that worrying wouldn't change things. "I know it won't. But that doesn't stop me from being jumpy as I watch what happens to her," she tried to explain. She looked up at Dustin with a small glare. "I don't doubt her skills. I just don't know what she's up against, so I think I have reason to be a little nervous on her behalf." She looked ahead at the arena, shaking her head when he said that she was being illogical. "No one's perfect. Even Ravenclaws," was all she said back, though she turned to Dustin and gave him a smile. She didn't want him to think she was angry at him. After that, she watched in relative silence (trying to not annoy her older brother) as Anna went through the next two arenas, though every once in a while she definitely did show signs of nerves. Now she was facing a dragon and Kinsey was feeling tense again. Kinsey's hands fisted and unfisted in her lap as she watched, the real sign of her nerves. After a few minutes she glanced over at Dustin.

Dustin just arched an eyebrow at Kinsey. He knew that it was useless trying to tell someone not to feel an emotion, so he didn’t try to tell her to juts stop being nervous, but it still didn’t make much sense to him. He was closer to Anna than Kinsey was, so it made sense that he would be the nervous one of the duo, but apparently sense wasn’t a thing that either of them had at the moment. Kinsey reiterated his thought, saying that not even Ravenclaws were perfect. Dustin had to suppress a laugh. With three Ravenclaw sisters, he had learned pretty damn quickly that they weren’t all the weirdo study robots he had thought they were. As for being perfect, though, this was a perfect time to lighten the mood. “I know this one guy who’s pretty close to perfect.” Dustin teased. “Gryffindor. Quidditch player. He’s got great hair. Though I hear his little sisters are all pretty crazy.” He said. The conversation lapsed as Anna continued to move through the arenas. Out of the corner of his eye, Dustin could see Kinsey’s hands pulsing into fists. He reached his own hand over to cover Kinsey’s, hoping to calm her a little.

Kinsey didn't say anything about Dustin's skeptical expression. She was just nervous, all right? Did she really need a reason to be? Of course, she wasn't mad at her brother, she just felt high strung. More so than she could ever remember having been before. Then again, she was around a bunch of people that were probably feeling that way, so it was only natural for her to feel it too, right? Dustin started talking about a Gryffindor guy that was almost perfect. It was obvious he was talking about himself, but Kinsey cocked her head to the side and tapped her chin thoughtfully, even though she was sure he would see right through it. "I think you're making that up," she teased right back. "A Quidditch player with crazy awesome sisters and great hair that's also a Gryffindor? No, someone like that definitely can't exist, even though they would be almost perfect." She smiled at her older brother, really just basking in the fact that he was here, even as her attention went back to the task.
Kinsey didn't even realize how nervous she was, or what she was doing with her hands, until Dustin reached over gently. She jumped a little when she felt him touch her and then smiled. He was trying to help, just like he always did. "Thanks," she said softly before turning her attention back to the arena. Anna was about to get the jewel from the diricawls so it looked like she was almost done and Kinsey felt herself relax a little bit. "She did well," Kinsey's tone was relieved as she looked back to her brother. "Are you staying for the last one, or are you going to meet her now?" she asked curiously.

Dustin rolled his eyes when his sister said that he was making himself up. Of course he wasn’t! He was right here, and he was real, and like Kinsey said – he was almost perfect. Wait, almost?! “Why do you say I’m only almost perfect, Kins?” Dustin asked, trying to affect innocence in his voice but failing miserably. He was really curious – his Ravenclaw sisters ought to be proud of rubbing off on him.
Dustin nodded at Kinsey’s thanks, trying not to be too intrusive about the whole thing. Most people didn’t appreciate their older siblings performing public displays of affection, did they? His sister asked about when he was going to see Anna, and Dustin shrugged. “I thought it would be rude to leave halfway through.” Even if he wasn’t a fan of the other boys competing, Dustin was going to at least pretend to pay attention as the last Champion went through the arena. “Besides, they probably have to check her out to make sure she’s okay first.” He didn’t want to awkwardly barge into the first aid tent just to give his dramatic speech to Anna, that was for sure.

He was hung up on the word almost. Kinsey couldn't help but smirk at that realization. She shrugged, "Well if Ravenclaws can't be perfect, then neither can Gryffindors," she teased, laughing softly at her own joke before really thinking about it. What made Dustin not-perfect? "Because you're so far away?" she asked, still smiling but actually meaning it. A part of her wished her brother was closer, that she could see him every day like she used to. She hated seeing him so infrequently.
When he said that he wasn't planning on leaving yet, Kinsey smiled again. "Yes, and you're never rude," she said innocently. She scooted a little closer. "I'm glad you're not leaving yet. Thanks for coming Dust. I've missed you this year," she admitted, turning the majority of her attention back to the arena, though she was really just focused on her older brother.

Dustin rolled his eyes at his sister, using stupid logic to get the best of him. “Gryffindors are objectively better than Ravenclaws.” He tried, even though he knew that argument was going to get shot down really quickly. The whole point of houses wasn’t making one better than the other, but acknowledging that different people had different strengths and weaknesses and they might learn better or be happier at school if they were surrounded by other people like them.
“I’ve never been rude in my life.” Dustin sniffed. “That’s what happens when you’re a Quidditch superstar – you’re never rude, everyone else is just wrong.” He rolled his eyes again, this time at himself. Could he be any more arrogant if he tried? “Of course I came, Kins.” Dustin replied good-naturedly. “And you should miss me every year.” He added with a smile.
@kinsey (we should probably wrap this up soon?)

Kinsey lifeted her eyebrows sarcastically when Dustin said that Gryffindors were "objectively" better than Ravenclaws. "How would you know? You're a Gryffindor, so I doubt you can be objective about it," she teased him. Then she laughed, "You're perfect in specific things, like being brave and defending others and such, but you can't be perfect with everything."
She laughed again when Dustin agreed that he was never rude and telling her why. "Yes, I'm sure that's exactly why. Everyone else is wrong and you're always right." She wondered if she might be teasing him too much, but Kinsey felt a little giddy at the chance to spend so much of her time with her brother. "This is the first year I haven't had you at least a little," she explained. "But don't worry, I'll miss you just as much next year, I'm sure."
@dustin (if you want we can just fade it out ...?)

Dustin shrugged when Kinsey asked how anyone could be objective about matters of house, least of all him since he was a Gryffindor. “You know, humans say we’re the most intelligent species, and that’s true even though we’re biased.” Dustin said with a smirk. He hadn’t seen a monkey build anything similar to London, so he was confident in his assessment of human intelligence, and he hoped that it made his point well enough.
“Now you’re getting it!” Dustin said when Kinsey said the everyone else was always wrong and he was always right. That wasn’t exactly how Dustin ran his life – he was, after all, in the business of keeping his friends around – but he assumed that he was right until he had proof otherwise. “Keep on missing me, Kins.” Dustin winked at his little sister, and continued to chatter with her up until the point when the task was done and he had to head off to his meeting with Anna.
