This was silly. Royal felt silly. But after trying his hand (well, his foot) at gnome-punting, he had the sudden urge to get the rest of his tokens out of his hand, so then he could go home without feeling like he had wasted money... even though the tokens had been given to him for free. None of the prizes in the prize booth had caught his attention, either, so it wasn't like the tickets had any monetary value to him, either. He'd probably just find some scared-looking first year and unload his tickets onto them. It would make their day and then Royal wouldn't feel like he was wasting anything. With that in mind, Royal was looking for the games that involved the least amount of effort on his part. When he saw a booth that just had a jar of Bertie Botts Beans, Royal made a beeline towards it. That was definitely something that looked easy. There were several parchment slips and an ink pot, and it didn't take instructions for Royal to know that he needed to guess how many beans were in the jar. He dropped one of his tokens into a collection pot, and then took a slip of parchment. He honestly had no idea how many beans were in the jar, so he was just going to make a random guess. Royal scrawled a number on the piece of parchment - (edit), because that was the day that Abby had died - and then folded the parchment in half before handing it to the person manning the booth.

The dunk the mermaid game had been a laugh for him and his daughter. After they'd walked around a bit more, Lucia had taken off in the direction of another set of booths. After getting over the almost heartattack it had caused him, he'd quickly followed after her to make sure nothing happened to her. He watched her run up to a booth with a small jar of Bertie Bott's beans sitting on a pedestal. Above the jar, the title of the booth told them to guess how many were in the jar. The jar was deceptively small though. Looking at his daughter once again, he could feel the curiosity pouring off of her in waves as she tried to count the beans just by looking at the jar. He found himself chuckling and she frowned up at him before complaining that he was distracting her from counting. That only made him laugh more. He waited until he saw her brow relax and her mouth stop moving from counting before he addressed her again. (edit). Or that's how many she said she counted. That number was a bit high to him and considering that it hadn't taken her very long to count that at all her could only smile adoringly at her before he handed over a token to the attending carnie before writing the number down on a piece of parchment and handing it back.

Andy really didn't have any idea what to guess on this jar of beans thing, but she was here to have fun, wasn't she? She left Phil for the moment, but she'd find him after she guessed this thing. She stared at the beans, the colors seeming to swirl in front of her. How did people do this!? How did people just make a confident guess? Confidence was never her strong suit, so it was hard for her to understand people just blindly going into something.... but, she took a deep breath. Maybe this was a good exercise. Accept the unknown, and step ahead with the hope that you'll be successful. ADMIN DEE edit she put, nodding firmly and taking a step back once the guess was done. She felt good about that, actually, and sighed with relief, turning on her heel to find Phil once more. ADMIN DEE editSUZIE

Jess liked the carnival, and the Wizarding twists on games that she knew. Like guess the jellybeans in a jar - and how could she resist that? She didn't have to eat the Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, after all. She grabbed a scrap of parchment, and a ballpoint pen from her pocket, and wrote down the first number that came to mind... three times. @kath ADMIN DEE edit

Guess How Many Bertie Botts Beans was Eliza's kind of carnival game. Nothing wet, nothing messy, nothing to worry about. She spent a moment looking closely at the jar - impressively sized - and started counting what she could see up a bit of the side and trying to figure it out from there. She wasn't the best at Arithmancy, so she tried to get something that looked about right, and added a handful for luck. She tapped the end of her quill against her lips once, twice, and then nodded, dipping it into the inkpot and writing, in very neat handwriting, ADMIN DEE edit. @kath ADMIN DEE edit

[nospaces] [attr="class","biggieno"] [attr="class","textieno"] You can not ask Thalia Wood to ever guess something. But that was exactly the game. She is very poor when it comes to making decisions, much less vague guesses like this one. Guess how many Bertie botts beans was the game, when she saw the board she was kind of interested to know what it was so she went over to see. But guessing has never been her type. But then again what is the meaning of this whole carnival without a few crazy memories. And so, Thalia took up the challenge of doing something she never usually does. [break][break]Looking at the jar full of beans, Thalia took a minute to assess the size of the jar and the size of each bean. May be she could determine the amount of beans it can hold by imagining the size of the jar in terms of the beans. Her logical brain was screaming with different solutions, but it was absurd. She carefully looked at the jar and decided to take a wild guess. She knew for sure that there would be around 300 in there. But not above 450 as far as she could tell. SO in between those two values Bri took a wild guess and scrawled it onto the piece of parchment given to her, 379. She returned the paper back and wondered just how well her guess would turn out to be.[break][break] Guess is : 379[break] @kyles [attr="class","iconieno"] [newclass=.biggieno]margin-left:-300px;[/newclass][newclass=.textieno]margin-top:-425px;margin-bottom:150px;width:300px;height:400px;padding:10px;background-color:#fff;border:solid 1px #b7b7b7;color:#939393;text-align:justify;overflow:auto;margin-left:610px;font:11px calibri;[/newclass][newclass=.textieno::-webkit-scrollbar]width:10px;background:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.textieno::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background:#b7b7b7;border:2px solid #fff;[/newclass][newclass=.iconieno]margin-top:-240px;margin-left:-220px;margin-bottom:50px;[/newclass][newclass=.tagsieno]font:11px calibri;color:#b7b7b7;margin-top:-75px;margin-left:-75px;margin-bottom:40px;[/newclass]

While he hadn't managed to get a real Butterbeer from the ring toss game, Scorpius still managed to find his way to a stand that did have the favorite wizarding drink. Forking over a few sickles for it, he contentedly sipped on it as he browsed the other food stands. Maybe if Rose was here with him, he would have stayed and had something to eat as well, or at least spend more time wandering around than he was planning on doing today. Studying was calling his name.
Observing a few food stalls, he walked up to one that had a jar sitting in the front of it, full of Bertie Botts Beans. This immediately grabbed the Slytherin's attention. He thought it was a grab bag of sorts while walking up, but upon further inspection he could tell that it was actually a guessing game. These were typically made out to be completely random, stumping even the smartest of guessers. Scorpius knew he could look it over for a few minutes and come up with a rough estimate, assuming that there wasn't a trick to the whole thing.
Doing this, he got a glimpse of everything that the person running the stall would let him. Obviously they didn't want him to count it, though that would take ages. Giving it one last look, he wrote down his answer on the scrap of paper and handed it over.

Beans. In a jar. Georgie failed to see how this qualified as a game, or even remotely carnival-like. it was just a guessing game, and it wasn't really like anyone had a potential edge over it, since the jar had been spelled to prevent cheating. Georgie wasn't sure if she would have known the correct spells to cast to facilitate such cheating, but hey, for tickets (even if they were lame), there were few things she wouldn't do. The prizes weren't all that interesting to Georgie, but she wanted something to show for all of the misery that she converted into carnival tickets. Maybe she would get something for Lance, if any of the things struck her as something that he would like. Georgie scrawled a random number on a parchment paper - it wasn't like she was going to waste her time trying to use math to deduce the amount of beans or something - and then went on her merry way.

Daniel couldn't see why he had to pay a token just to guess how many beans were in a jar. Seemed like a silly game if you could even call it a game. You might as well call guessing what you'll have for dinner as a game. Still he had tokens to get rid of for today and he wasn't going to late them go to waste without the chance of getting some tickets at least. Grabbing a piece of parchment and handing over his token he wrote down his answer before giving the paper back. Other TJ @puck edit
