Astronomy, a subject that Rosalie was indifferent about. She found it enjoyable and it at least interested her, but she also wasn't sure how important and useful she found the subject. It was one that she really had to focus on and it almost always took her the longest to finish assignments for Astronomy. It was frustrating and she often wondered if anyone else had similar problems, however, she hadn't really heard anyone complain about their monthly star chart.
So she laid there, in the mostly dark astronomy tower, on the stone floor with her charts laid around her and her pencil in her hand. She had been using a telescope for her assignments and it was easier to just stay out on the tower and finish the assignment before going to bed. It was still light out when she began her work in the tower and had continued working though dinner and into the night, though, thankfully she was almost finished by the time she heard footsteps assending the stairs of the tower. "Sorry, I'll get out of your way in just a moment." she told the person, whoever they were and after writing a few more notes, she began to pack her supplies back into her bag.

ADONIA LOVED STARS! She loved a lot of things, but the night sky was a beauty that could not be beat. She was excited when she located the Astronomy tower at this school, and was taking this fine night to visit it. As she ascended the stairs she heard a voice, and cocked her head to the side upon reaching the dark tower. "Awe, don't leave just yet," Adonia said sweetly, "the night has just begun," which was not true. It was already fairly late, at least past dinner time and into the darkness. "Really, no rush. I just came to do a little stargazing," Adonia approached the girl, but her eyes were up at the sky as soon as she stepped out into the open. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie was a little surprised when she saw who came up the stairs. She had never met the girl, but she had probably seen her around. There were so many new students around from the two visiting schools. On one hand it was a great opportunity to make friends, but on the other hand, a small part of her mind couldn't help but think it was a bad idea to bring even more students into this already slightly-hostile environment. Sure, the school seemed safe enough as of late, but that didn't mean anything. It had been perfectly safe up until last year, or at least, so everyone had though.
When the girl told her not to rush off, Rosie decided to stick around at least a little while longer. She did have a little more left to finish on her moon chart. Rosie found the moon so interesting and very telling. She had studied the moon cycles and how the various phases of the moons affected humans in the world, and maybe it didn't actually mean anything, but she found that when paired with Divination, a favorite class of hers, it meant everything. Tonight was a waxing moon at about 30% and there would be a full moon in about 5 days which always promised excitement. It was often understood that the first quarter moon meant one was walking on the edge between light and darkness and careful balance was necessary. Rosie wasn't sure how much she actually believed it all, but when she looked at all of the pieces, she also wasn't sure couldn't believe it.
"Are you from one of the visiting schools?" Rosie asked, just making polite conversation as anyone would. She kept her head down, however, on her moon chart as she tracked it's course and filled in the dates of the next full and new moons and what star-sign they would line up with. "I'm not sure I've seen you before." she admitted.

When the girl asked about the schools, Adonia grinned, "yes! From Durmstrang," she explained happily. "I'm Adonia... what are you working on?" she asked. The girl said that she hadn't seen her up there before, and that was for good reason. Adonia hadn't seen anyone up here just yet, and she had only been here a few times. She moved toward the girl and looked over her shoulder at the chart, then moved aside to turn her head back to the heavens. "Homework, I suppose? That's a lovely thing to be doing. Very smart," Adonia did her homework, when it interested her, but for the most part she preferred the hand to hand work that was done in class rather then the stuff you did outside of class. It seemed necessary to take classwork back to your dorm with you rather than just work on it when you were in the classroom! Granted, Astronomy and Astrology were interesting enough that she had done it outside of a lesson setting plenty of times. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie nodded when the girl said she was from Durmstrang. It made sense. She didn't seem like the type to be from Beauxbatons, and of course, Rosie meant no offense by that, but most of the Beauxbatons lot had French accents and it was very easy to pick them out of a crowd, they tended to travel in packs. "Pleasure to meet you, Adonia, I'm Rosie." she introduced herself to the girl. "I suppose you're here for the tournament... did you put your name in?" Rosie hadn't put her name in. A part of her honestly hated the idea of the whole thing, but she knew it was good for inter-school relations. "Oh, um, just a bit of homework. It's not to complicated, but I like to take my time on things like this." she agreed and admitted. "Just charting the moon, though it's pretty easy to chart, it's a pattern and very regular. Unlike the planets. Those guys have no rhyme or rhythm." she told her.
"Are you just wandering?" Rosie asked rather than asking why are you up here? Which sounded way more rude than she meant it. She was just curious and enjoyed making conversation. "The castle is very large, there's a lot to explore. But Durmstrang is probably very large also..." Rosie hated how little she knew about the place. She had spent so much time with Brandon asking her good friend so many questions regarding the school and still felt like she knew nothing. it interested her greatly.

"Rosie," Adonia repeated. What a lovely name for a lovely face. Rosie asked if Adonia put her name in the goblet and Adonia laughed, "Of course! Otherwise they would have not been able to bring me, which would have been a shame," she said with her best little pout, "because I've met such lovely people here, such as yourself," she added. Rosie confirmed that it was indeed homework she was doing. "Well, the moon is a lovely thing to study, so taking your time makes perfect sense to me," she encouraged. It was an enjoyable assignment, Adonia assumed, so she would probably have done the same thing. She laughed, "the planets are jealous gods with no respect for us mere mortals," she teased. Though in some religions it was believed that the planets were gods and goddesses, Roman mythology showed that. "Wandering, wondering," Adonia answered, vaguely. "Durmstrang is large! You should come see it sometime," she suggested. "I think all three schools should be required to visit one another at least once."rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie liked this girl and she couldn't quite put her finger on exactly why. She was polite and kind and spoke very well, all were qualities that the Huffelpuff appreciated. She wondered whether those were considered Hufflepuff qualities, and then began to wonder what house Adonia would fit into if she had come to Hogwarts rather than Durmstrang. It was an interesting thought. It was a thought that she wondered it anyone else ever wondered. And sometimes maybe no one knew the answer, the sorting hat was always able to see things in people that they would never see in themselves. "That's really brave." Rosie said in regards to her putting her name into the cup for the chance to compete. "I didn't put mine it. I probably wouldn't have if someone offered to pay me. I dropped Defense Against The Dark Arts as soon as I was able. I'm awful at combative or defensive magic." she admitted before thinking that maybe that information was a bit too personal for someone that she just met and didn't actually know. But she didn't really let it worry her too much.
"I would love to see it." Rosie admitted. "I agree, it would be a great opportunity. Especially since I've heard its so different, and i'm sure Beauxbatons is different also. The classes are taught differently and probably with different information. It would be great to get a variant." she agreed. "It was just be great to travel though. Do you miss your school and your friends there or did most of them come with you?" Rosie had no idea how many students Durmstrang had though the figured it wasn't possible that they could bring them all.

Rosie was sweet, saying Adonia was brave for entering her name. But really, she was just doing what looked like the most interesting thing to do a the time. "Well, it was nothing." She didn't bother to 'act' modest about it becasue she was. It wasn't an act. It really was nothing to her. Adonia couldn't help but laugh as the girl said she didn't do defensive magic. "Well, there is no shame in that. Though, with the whole war your country is having, it hardly seems wise." Yes, Adonia was honest when she felt honesty was called for. She truly believed this girl was not necessarily making the best choice for her safety, though safety wasn't important to Adonia. But it was to others, so she brought it up. It was kind of... Tempting to know that this girl couldn't defend herself. In fact, she very much wanted to test it. Rosie said she would love to see Durmstrang and agreed about the opportunities they should be getting. "Yes! We need more inter school exchanges," she agreed. Then the girl asked if she missed her friends, or if they came with, and Adonia shrugged. "I wouldn't say I miss anyone in particular, and most who matter are here," she explained. Really, just Maria. Sure, she missed some experiences others back at the school could give her, but she was having too much fun storming the castle, Hogwarts, to miss much. "And what about you, Rosie? Are you missing anyone right now?" it sounded like an innocent question, but was really a way to bait for more weaknesses this girl had. Adonia thought she was nice, of course! But she had just exploited one weakness and was interested to see if she could get more. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie felt as though she was crossing into dangerous territory with someone who she didn't know well. And while Rosie was someone who chose to see the good in everyone and who liked to trust people, she wasn't blind to the conversational shift. The girls comment about the war seemed a little too pointed to be casual and hearing the world war used made Rosie's skin crawl. "Yeah, I see your point." she gave a small nod.
Rosie finished the last scratch on her moon chart and and sat up. She began packing her things back into her bag, slowly as to not wrinkle any of her assignments and carefully so to not put her ink in a position in which it could spill. She listened as Adonia said she didn't miss anyone, a statement which Rosie felt was odd, however, a large group of their students had come here for the tournament, it was fair to assume any of her friends would have been along. "Uh... no, not really." she admitted. And it was true. "Everyone I care about is around regularly." that was particularly true since her once close friend, Brandon had returned for the tournament. And her parents wrote regularly. Rosie had never really felt loneliness.

Rosie said she saw her point, but Adonia didn't know if she really did. Rosie seemed to want the conversation to end, what with that small nod that was like a punctuation. So, Adonia spared her, and didn't go on. She wasn't about to force the girl into a darker conversation... at least not at the moment. The girl started to pack up and Adonia couldn't help but smirk. Aaaw, had she scared the little Hogwarts student? Wouldn't be the first time. Rosie also said she didn't miss anyone, which caused Adonia to frown. Until Rosie said that everyone she cared about was around. "well, isn't that just lovely. I for one prefer school to home," she added as a side note, "and your school isn't that bad," she added. She crossed, casually, back toward the door as she talked, and found a comfortable place to stand right in front of it. She didn't really mean to be blocking the door but... she sort of was. Feeling extremely uncomfortable in the current conversation, Rosie decided it was time to make her exit. Rosie's fight or flight meter always lead towards flight. She wasn't a fighter, she hadn't even managed to scrape an Acceptable on her Defense Against the Dark Arts Ordinary Wizarding Levels during her 5th year. That was a subject test that she chose not to retake. She was flighty in fight and never had a steady hand. However, she was fine with Charms. But there was only so far charms could get you, NEWT level or not. Divination and Astronomy weren't very practical subjects to have an affiliation for, she pondered now.
Rosie finished packing her things into her bag while nodding at Adonia's comments about this school being a great one. As much as Rosie was curious about other schools, she knew that Hogwarts was home and she wouldn't chose to do her schooling anywhere else or with anyone else. The Hufflepuff stood up and flung her bag over her shoulder after zipping it shut. "Yeah, done for tonight at least." she nodded again and began walking over to the door to the staircase down. "Excuse me please." Rosie said, noticing that Adonia was mostly blocking the door. Rosie glanced at the girl for a second but mostly kept her head straight, unconsciously trying to avoid eye contact.

Rosie said she was done for the night and Adonia nodded. Then Rosie said excuse me and Adonia cocked her head to one side. "I was thinking," she said sweetly, taking another step back toward the door so she was blocking the opening even more. "Your hair looks too good in this moonlight for you to be rushing away so soon, Rosie." Her voice was soft and inviting, at least she was trying to make it so. She was good at that, she knew this. She had lured many people into secret places with that skill. She reached her hand out slowly, touching a piece of Rosies hair by her face, and took that step forward again. "Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are? Really, I'm surprised you're not surrounded by people wanting to be with you right now," she chuckled, "unless you are, and you just haven't told me?"rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie was caught off guard when the girl continued to block the door, but at the same time she had to know it was coming. Rosie had got herself into a hole and wasn't sure how she was going to get herself out. She felt a lump in her throat when the girl took a step towards her and she felt nearly paralyzed when the Drumstrang student touched her. Rosie was fairly innocent and inexperienced in the romance department however, she did know that she wasn't interested in women. Her first and only kiss was during her 5th year in a game of Truth or Dare and while she had been asked on dates, she had never had a boyfriend. To be honest though, the only people who had told her that she was beautiful were her best friends and her parents. She had never been told by a boy and she never really felt self-cautious about that until just now. "It's really la-late... my-my roommates are probably w-wondering wh-where I am..." she stuttered and swallowed the lump in her throat.

Rosie was clearly stumped, which only made this all the more fun. The stuttering was a lovely touch. Adonia took another step forward, very close to Rosie now. "Awe, they'll be alright," she said soothingly, and then she moved her arm in an attempt to elbow Rosie right in the nose. She flicked her wand out and the door shut behind her, locking. "Can't trust anyone, Rose," she said calmly, sighing and spinning her wand in her hand. "Anyone could be trying to trick you. Which is why you need to learn how to defend yourself," added flatly. "Now, get your wand out and face me. Put down the bag," her voice was both demanding and somewhat kind, she really was just trying to teach this girl. And if she had a little fun while doing it, well that was a nice bonus. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie felt the force of Adonia's elbow hit her nose and heard the audible crack as blood began gushing down her face. Rosie felt tears well up in her eyes and she wondered whether or not she was in shock. She hated everything about this situation but it was her own fault. She had been too honest. She knew that she couldn't trust everyone around her, she should have been more careful with her words. She shouldn't have let herself be alone at night with someone whom she had never seen before. The school was not a safe place. That thought had been in her mind for all of the year, but she had let her guard down.
"P-p-please just l-let me go..." Rosie begged through her tears, feeling the blood from her obviously broken nose fall onto her lips. However, out of fear, Rosie slowly took her bag off of her shoulder and dropped it easily onto the ground. She fumbled for a moment before drawing her wand out of her jacket pocket. With a very shaky hand, Rosie lifted her wand into something slightly resembling the dueling positions they were taught during their second year. "I don't want to do this..." she added.
