Lysander hadn't been attracted to the carnival in the way many of his classmates had been. The idea of it seemed fun, of course, but Sander knew enough about himself to know that he would get overwhelmed easily, the same way he had almost gotten overwhelmed at the Yule Ball. Luckily, that had been averted by his speaking with Susan, and later Adeline. Sander was almost certain that he couldn't count on Adeline being at the carnival, and it felt wrong to depend on Susan, too. But then he had heard that there was a magical creatures act in the center of the carnival, and no one could have kept him away if they tried. Lysander had been willing to brave the crowds of people to see some creatures he might not normally get the chance to. Since the magical creatures pen was in the middle of the carnival, Sander had gotten turned around quite a few times before he was finally able to get some directions from a kindly-looking old woman who was at the carnival with her grandchildren. Now Lysander was leaning against the fence that encircled a wide, grassy area. There weren't any creatures in the pen yet, but there was a sign that said shows happened every thirty minutes, and Sander didn't mind the wait... as long as he didn't focus too much on the crowd around him.

0000 . @lysander . notes Jessie's heart swelled with excitement, as she thought about all the games, and shows going on at the carnival. It was a joyful place to be. The carnival had been around for a couple of days now, and without a solid plan to go with a friend of hers, Jessie had made her mind up and decided to go alone. Surely she would find someone there to talk to, giving her some sort of break from solitude. Not that she minded too much being alone; she could always meet someone new. As her little feet pattered across the grass leading to the festivities, the diminutive lioness found her thoughts drifting to that of the Tournament. For most students, it had been a break from a harsh reality, just like the carnival had been. Except, probably, for the champions themselves. She let out a meek laugh, grateful that she didn't have to participate. As Jessie drew closer to the carnival grounds, a wide, circular fence caught her eye. Witches and wizards began to gather around, not a great many, but enough to make it evident that something was scheduled to happen. Coming closer, she eventually spotted an acquaintance of hers-- Lysander Scamander. A big green played across her lips, and she sidled up next to him. "Hey, Lysander!," she greeted him cheerfully. She rested her arms on the closest wooden slat, surveying the painted wood for nails."I should have known you would be here. Can't resist the opportunity to see more magical creatures can you?" Lysander was known for his love of creatures, tame or not. It was a beautiful thing, to see someone so passionate and in love with something. Jessie admired him for his devotion to the subject. Not many people knew what they wanted, or what they wanted to do; but for Lysander, it was clear.

Lysander was simultaneously relieved and confused when he heard someone saying his name. The Ravenclaw hadn’t thought that he’d seen anyone he recognized in the crowd, but he also hadn’t been paying much attention, since he was so focused on finding the creatures show, so it was possible. He swiveled his eye around to look at the source of the noise, and relaxed a little when he saw that it was Jessie. He decided then that it was probably better if he didn’t freak her out with the magical eye, and turned his head towards her, a cautious smile on his face. “Hi, Jessie.” He responded, voice just as cautious as his smile. She looked pleased to be here, though, which meant that this conversation couldn’t go too badly – Lysander would have hated if someone only came up to him with the intention of dragging him to some other part of the carnival so that they didn’t have to be alone. Jessie understood his love for magical creatures, though, as was evident by her question. Sander smiled wider this time, all caution thrown to wind, as was often the case when it came to magical creatures. “If I could resist magical creatures, then I think I would have to rethink my career path.” Sander said with a laugh. In his opinion, jobs ought to be something that you were drawn to, and made you happy. People who worked for money instead of working because they loved what they did were sure to be miserable. “I’m not sure how long it’ll be until the show starts, though.” The Ravenclaw added. He hadn’t thought to bring a watch with him, since he hadn’t planned on staying long and knew that he would get back before curfew.

@lysander Jessie noticed his guarded smile, with an aim to disarm it. Luckily, she was victorious as she mentioned his favorite subject. Her heart gave a somersault, happy that he felt comfortable enough to open up a bit more. "If I wasn't going to be a healer, I probably would have chosen a career similar to yours," she confessed. It was true. She loved animals. Especially her kitten, Nymeria. All the while, growing up with a nurse as your mom, she couldn't help but to be drawn to the advanced arts of the Wizarding World's healing.
"Oh, I don't mind waiting. This is my first evening out here, actually," Jessie relayed to him. "What do you think this particular show is going to have? Hyppogriffs maybe? I wouldn't mind seeing a bicorn, to be quite honest with you."

Sander nodded when Jessie said that she would have chosen to be a magizoologist if she wasn’t intent on becoming a healer. “There’s still time to change your mind.” He offered neutrally. He certainly wasn’t going to push Jessie towards magizoology if that wasn’t what she wanted, but too often it seemed students thought they were locked in one career path because they had previously shown interest in it.
Lysander just shrugged when Jesise asked what kind of animals he thought the show would have. The sign hadn’t been particularly enlightening on that subject. She mentioned hippogriffs, and Sander’s mind wandered a little. He wondered if hippogriffs were equine enough that his affinity for equine animals would allow him to communicate with them. “I don’t think there’s a bicorn.” Sander offered. He hadn’t heard any horse-like noises coming from the tent, nor did he feel the strange pull in his chest he seemed to feel when there were unicorns (or other relatives of the horse) around. “What would you like best to see?” Sander asked politely. Jessie had said that she wouldn’t mind seeing a bicorn, but that implied that there were other animals that she would rather see over it.
