It was just after lunch as Dwight was heading back from his old department of Magical Law Enforcement after meetings with several lawyers and members of the Wizengamont. Some of the meetings were political in nature stressing support for Reynolds as Headmaster despite the recent killings. The others were business on certain cases that were going and also he had started the process of a review to see if Sean Owens could see his grandfather Ian Owens at Azkaban. A strange request from the grandfather as he said it was his last wish before his life ended. Part of Dwight believed the old man was dying, but other part of him found the man’s sudden illness very dumb. He made his way into the lift and pushed for the first floor, he needed to meet with Victoire Weasley next, almost a protégé of his but recently he knew he had treated her coldly. For her own good, if he thinks I’m helping them…they are at risk thought Dwight. He felt bad for treating her in a bad manner, Weasley was good at her job and he honestly saw her taking his position one day.
However; none of that future could be possible if the old man succeeded in getting what he wanted, he had to try and stop it. Making his way down the hallways of level one he made his way into his office first to grab a few files from his desk. He wanted to discuss something with Victoire but he needed to make sure she was not comprised, it was hard to trust anyone now. Plus he had have work to discuss with her, as she was the Junior Assistant to the Minister it was easier to communicate with her then the Minister himself, it was worst kept secret that Dwight was after his job. Reaching her office door, he knocked on it before walking in and taking a seat across from her desk. ”Hello Victoire, I need to go over some things with you, I expect you’re not too busy” spoke Dwight his voice was rather serious and not with a hint of emotion or friendliness it used to have with her. He had changed in just a few short weeks, it was almost another Dwight in front of her.

Victoire had her nose buried in a file, something that was very close to home. She was reading about the discovery of the first dead student on the train, discovered by her sweet cousin James. She wasn't supposed to be looking at that stuff, ministers orders. He wanted them to forget that any of that had ever happened. Finding out who killed the poor kid wasn't on the top of their priority least. She clenched her fingers against the file at the thought of his incompetence. How could a man who was put in charge of the entire wizarding world of London be such a... such a... she took a breath, steadying herself. She gently lowered the folder, she had been so upset that she didn't even notice Myron knock and walk in.
Victoire jumped slightly as Dwight was suddenly in front of her, getting to business. A part of her wanted to kick him out of the office. He hadn't been acting very kinda lately. Not that he was being incredibly rude at the moment, but she knew that the coldness would come eventually. The monotone explanation as to why he was here was enough to get on her nerves. No matter, Vic wasn't one to stand down easily. She plastered a smile onto her face and sat up straight, crossing her legs underneath her desk and setting the file she was reading. "Actually, I was busy. But never mind that, I can finish it later. What do you want?" her words were short and clipped, but she still spoke with a smile on her face.

Despite the smile on the face he could tell Victoire was not happy with him and his current attitude, and he could not blame her for feeling in such way. The tone in her voice and the way she he knew the smile was just for show, smart thing for her to do in her position. I am sorry Victoire thought Dwight he opened up a file and passed it along the desk over to where she was sitting. It was a file on the review he had ordered on Ian Owens visitor’s rights, in this case letting his grandson visit him. The reason stated in the file was that the request had come from Ian originally which Sean had agreed to now. Something the Minister should be aware of and she rather have Victoire give it to him or at least his adviser on final approval. He was not on the greatest speaking terms with the current Minister or many people in that matter unless, he needed to schmooze them. The big long list Burt gave him of people to praise his name to haunted in the back of his mind as he choose his words carefully to Victoire. ”You will need to pass this up to the Minister for final approval, once the review is being done. The Wizengamont will have an opinion soon if such visit would prove a security risk…so make sure he doesn’t go making any choices yet”said Dwight curtly.
Victoire name had not been on the list that Burt had literately given him on to schmooze about him to, however; he had a plan. He could not just sit back and watch Burt walk all over the people he cared about, the old man was taking steps on every front to ensure his victory. He knew he would need to tread carefully on anything he said to her, he could not just blurt out to her that Reynolds had attacked him and was blackmailing and threanting to kill his daughter, he just found out about. Speaking on it would be impossible to because of Burt’s curse, but there was ways around it he was sure. ”Have you heard anything if the Minister is going to support Headmaster Reynolds proposed educational decree changes? It would be good to him on the right side here”asked Dwight his voice was still emotionless and his eyes gave no hint of fear or hesitation in how he spoke. He played the part of Burt’s dummy well, too well in fact.

Victoire took the folder from his hands and glanced down at it, raising an eyebrow at him. "I will deliver it, but tell me," she asked as she opened the file and skimmed the front page, closing it quickly, "why didn't you just drop it by his office on your way over here?" It was a question she knew the answer to, but she wanted to see what DWs excuse would be. It was clear that he and the Minister were not on good terms right now. This didn't surprise Victoire at all, especially since no one seemed to be on good terms with the minister really. She knew that Dwight, of all people, would have fights to pick with the minster. But he was so out there lately that she didn't know exactly what to think about their relationship.
"I'll inform him that it needs Winzengamot approval, of course." She said just as curtly in return. When he smoothly and slowly brought up his question concerning the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Victoire didn't think anything of it. It was a normal topic of conversation for those in the minsters circle of influence, which included Dwight and Victoire. She set the file down, right beside the file she had been reviewing before, just to make sure she remembered it. "I feel as though the minister is still indecisive on the subject," and he was. Victoire was irritated with the majority of the changes that were presented by the Headmaster, and she tried her best to council the minster without sounded too biased about her opinions. But the truth was, the Minster would eventually roll over and do whatever Reynolds asked of him. She sighed, "I'm afraid, however, that he will agree with Headmaster Reynolds .... ideas," she commented finally.

His black eyes closely watched Victoire as she took the file from him and skimmed the front page or so before closing it. She said she would deliver it to the Minister which was a good answer but then she had to go and ask him a question she knew the answer to. He gave her a curious look as in an “what are you doing” face when she clearly knew the answer, but yet it seemed she wanted to hear him speak it. ”I think you know me and the Minister do not have a productive relationship yet much of a speaking one, too young for your memory to go” said Dwight coldly in a rather kind of slow voice. Nodding that she would inform him that it needed Wizengamont approval, he was hoping the Minister didn’t go and attempt to make any rash decisions to try and impress the public. Don’t be more of a fool then you are, not until Burt is weakened thought Dwight as he shifted in his seat a little bit. He still did not know yet if Victoire was someone working for Burt or being blackmailed by him to check up on him, he could not fathom the range the old man’s power reached.
Her answer at first was the one he expected to hear that the Minister still had yet made up his mind of the matter. Dwight personally opposed such changes because it completely eliminated the oversight the Ministry had at Hogwarts. The thought of giving the old man even more “official power”, just did not sit with him. However he had no choice but to play along with this charade of supporting such changes now, and successfully killing his political future from becoming a big flip-flopper. The next answer she gave however, he gave a slight smile to in support that the Minister will side with Reynolds but, inside he was mentally kicking himself. ”Well Headmaster Reynolds is just trying to do what’s best for the school Victoire, plus he has the upper hand on this battle. I think it’s in the best interests of us all to support the Headmaster in his attempts to reform Hogwarts” spoke Dwight, his voice dripped in confidence he had in the Headmaster, completely fake of course but his act was very good. However something stood out to him in her answer about the Minister siding with Reynolds, she said she was ‘afraid’ that he would side with him on his ideas. Afraid? Is she not with him, maybe she can help thought Dwight, he looked at her cursorily wondering what she would say next and if he could reveal something to her.

Victoire felt her blood start to boil as DW was obviously making fun of her. She relaxed though; when she contemplated the fact that it was only fair considering that she had just made fun of him as well. ”Fair enough,” she said, lifted her hands in surrender. As DW shifted in his seat Victoire just sat up straighter and stayed firm. Something was definitely strange about Dwight as of late, but Victoire had just put it aside as a mood swing. But it had been going on for long enough that she was starting to doubt that. He wasn’t on the Imperious curse, that much she was sure of. He was too in control to be in that situation. Unless someone really skilled was- no. That couldn’t be it, she was being too dramatic.
She leaned forward a little, almost wanting to ask him if he was all right. But she didn’t say anything. Yet. He spoke of his support for the Headmaster and Victoire stayed still, maintaining a look of unamusement and borderline disgust. She reached her hands in front of her and laced her fingers together, placing them on the desk between them. ”Well, that is for the minister and others more important than I to decide, Dwight,” her voice was like venom as she said this.
She sighed, shaking her head as she leaned forward a little more, ”tell me, why do you agree with those policies anyway? It’s not as though you have any children at the school. Why should the opinion of those without children matter? Not to be offensive, but I have close family there and I think that my opinion might carry a greater weight. Especially in the case of the Headmasters ideas to improve the school,” she spoke calmly and coolly.

He watched Victoire very closely his eyes keeping an eye on her every move, he was studying her. In ways he had never had before, he wanted to know everything her body language showed to see who she was working for. For the Ministry as her job, or if she herself was someone Burt was having keep an eye on Dwight. He did not trust anyone really now, he had already requested a new body guard from Argus, and requested him. He knew Argus was the one person he could trust to guard him and keep him safe, one person he was sure Burt had no reach to. He could see the disgust on her face as he talked about his support for the Headmaster and how he praised him, making a note of it. Maybe she was after all a person that was safe to make contact with, he knew Victoire would be part of the order. He was a member too but, had not been requested at any of the meetings and recently he felt they were keep an eye on him in another way, less of protection, more investigation. ”Yes more important than you” responded Dwight curtly with an emphasis on the you part for her. A little smirk started to play off his lips, playing up the rude and coldness of him to her just in case of anything.
The smirk slowly disappeared however as she began her little speech on why his opinion should matter anymore then hers since he had no kids. A swell of anger ferried up inside him, he did have a kid a daughter in Ravenclaw who he just found out about, who Burt was ready to kill if he deviated from his plan in any steps. No anger showed on his face however, but displeasure at the highest degree did. Even those with no kids should have opinions on this, and be allowed to express them without them tossed aside thought Dwight he gave a scoff at her, in retort after she finished her calm and cold speech. ”Have you learned nothing under me? There are things you have no idea about as you pointed out, more important than you, so you don’t have need to know. The Headmaster has put forth an aggressive reform agenda which is more than the Minister has done since his term… your opinion holds weight but do not think those without kids carry no weight, do all of the present Professors have kids? No but their opinion matters correct?” spoke Dwight his tone was completely blunt and dripped with venom, he did not want to be so rude but it happened. Need to know information thought Dwight was the most indirect hint he could give there was something up that she didn’t know. He was taking a big risk here, he would know soon if he walked into a Reynolds trap, he waited a little.
”I agree with them because they are correct and Headmaster Reynolds will lead the school in a better way with those changes intact. I stand with the Board of Governors and many others on this issue, you act like I’m alone.” spoke Dwight with pure comfort and sat straight up as he waited for response.

Victoire was continuing to feel anger and concern for Myron at this moment, especially when he made that smirky smug look on his face. Though she was very worried about him, Victoire was sometimes a slave to her anger and it was hard not to let it out. But she stayed composed. "Need to know?" she felt her fingers twitch at that comment. There was nothing worse than being kept in the dark, and if there were things she should know that she didn't... well that didn't suit Victoire one bit. She raised an eyebrow at him as he continued and scoffed at his words, "come, dear Myron, you don't honestly think that I meant to leave out the teachers. No, what I meant was that those with no children and no connection to Hogwarts whatsoever save the fact that they went there as a child shouldn't have a more valid say than those with stronger connections to the school. And that Reynolds..." she wanted to growl but held the sound back.
She sighed and took on a bored stance has he described his reasoning for supporting the Headmaster and how he wasn't alone in his wish. "I know, I know. But that doesn't mean it's right. Listen, why are we even arguing about this anyway?" she cocked an eyebrow at him. It wasn't like Myron to start a conversation with her like this unless he was trying to teach her some kind of lesson or tell her something. She wasn't amused with the fact that he just waltzed in here to make her his little messenger and fight his battles for him, and then just be rude and cold the entire time. Something was up, and she was going to figure out what it was. Sure, she was the ministers assistant, but DW had never treated her like an owl before.

His mind was racing like a Golden Snitch racing from the seekers in a qudditich match, trying to figure out what he could do to give her a hint that something was wrong. Wrong in every way possible, and it was all being controlled by this power controlling devil of a man. My wand shall do the killing of you Reynolds, I promised you that…I shall fulfill itthought Dwight cause he knew once the old man was done using him to his plans, he would met with a unfortunate accident or some kind of well-crafted suicide note as he hung himself. If he didn’t take steps soon, then everything could be too late the Minister could be very well dead soon, and in not in a way he wished upon him. It was impossible for him to go plainly and say ”Hey everyone, the old Headmaster is planning to kill Minister Cain and plans to take his place, told you he’s Voldemort”. If only he could make it that way, it be so much easier He gave a sort of scoff as she spoke again, he could tell she was angry somewhat.
To him it was good as she spoke, she seemed not to be anyone near Reynolds control, unless she was perfect actress like he was as an actor right now. Of course he knew she really wasn’t discounting the professors but, that’s what one could argue from her earlier statement. ”That Reynolds what? The man is a former Head Auror who lost his family after he declared war on dark wizards, the same man who was Deputy of the MLE under me, and was from what I’ve heard very talented and fair Transfiguration Professor, or did you forget that all in your clouded judgment? Killings are happening at Hogwarts I want someone dark wizards fear and Potter’s here and Dumbledore is dead…who else is left?!” snapped Dwight, he did not lose his cool but his voiced was raised but not near yelling. However; it was easy to tell he was highly irritated. He took out a folder that he had stuck in his coat pocket and opened it as Victoire made her next point and then ask why they were arguing about it at all. Without making any noise he read the file, which was just a regular old policy brief to give to Victoire on something she had been working on.
He was going to take a chance here, he was sure she was herself, of course she had close proximity to the Minister but Burt wanted people who could bring huge influence and power, that’s why he went after Dwight, being right below the Minister in power. Plus Dwight knew the Ministry very well and spent years working on a path to becoming Minister, in a way of connections not blackmailing or sacking people like Burt. He picked a quill off her desk without asking and wrote on the piece of paper on the file and turned it over and passed it to Victoire quill, file and all. ”Politically the Headmaster will win this one, I suggest you get on the right side of this quickly, the Headmaster is someone who has great influence and could help you”said Dwight there was no smile, just plain face but he said it like he meant it. However on the paper in bolded letters, that he handed Victoire, it clearly read “TROUBLE COMING”. His eyes for the first time in the meeting gave a sudden alertness, waiting for her to read what he wrote. Hopefully he did not just walk into a political quick sand death trap of Burt’s that would leave his daughter dead and him powerless completely.

Victoire said nothing for a moment. Then another moment.
Until finally she straightened up in her chair, with a sigh, "I can see your point. Wanting a man dark wizards fear but..." but she wasn't entirely sure that dark wizards feared him in such a way that they'd avoid him. No, she was sure they'd fear and revere him and want to be a part of his life. Under his thumb. His lackeys. His followers. She shook her head and blinked, her frown floating on her face almost listlessly. "But nothing. If you support him I know you have a good reason. I trust you," she looked up at him and made eye contact. His face was so stoic. So monotone. So hard to read, 'you do feel your reasons are good, yes?" she asked. She felt compelled to question him more about his loyalties to Reynolds, rather than the other way around. Rather than DW asking Vic why she didn't like the headmaster.
He then had the nerve to start writing something in a file, in the middle of their conversation! She wanted to get angry and say something, but nothing was coming to mind. Too late for her, since he started speaking again. His tone almost bored but the words were loaded with something. Support the Headmaster? Then she saw it. A sudden flash of something in his eyes. Something she hadn't seen in a long time. He didn't seem morose and uncaring. For a moment, he looked like himself. She looked down to notice that he was holding a paper out to her. She sighed, maybe the look in his eye was nothi-wait. There was something handwritten on it. She took the paper and read the words, eyes rolling over the note once or twice before pulling out her wand with the intention incinerating the note. But she waited.
So, something was up and DW couldn't talk about it. Which meant she couldn't either. She looked up at Myron, trying to show some form of concern on her face, and then scribbled something on the note herself. "HOW SOON?" it said. It felt silly, passing notes back an forth. But she handed it to him anyway. She decided to keep speaking however, to cover up the silence. "I suppose I can give the headmaster another chance," her voice sounded smooth and glassy, but her face was clearly not interested in giving the Headmaster anything.
