Sav got to the carnival just before noon that Saturday with the memory of a few nights before still fresh in his mind. He couldn't remember a time that had felt so natural, well, off the Quidditch Pitch of course. That was how he felt. Finally, he figured it out! He had been trying to figure out this feeling since it happened. Since he asked her out in the kitchen at 2 in the morning. He felt like he was playing Quidditch, he felt like he was flying. He felt like he was in control and calm and collected and he loved that feeling. It was like a high to him.
Sav waited for his date at the front gates before going in so that he would be sure to see Jessie when she arrived. He had asked to meet her at the carnival, rather than walk over together because he felt it would be more natural. He woke up this morning with butterflies in his stomach, which was strange for him since he was fairly confident when it came to women, but he hadn't been on a serious date with a girl that he might actually be interested in a while and he didn't want to mess it up. He woke up early and took a run before the rest of the world woke up. And he ran for house, all around the entire grounds and into the village below. He ran off his nerves and now he was feeling calm and cool, just like he wanted. He had already got them some tokens and was eagerly awaiting impressing her as much as possible.

Jessie was unfathomably thankful to have a dorm full of beautiful, and caring girls... Without them, she wouldn't have any clue on what to wear on the date. The only input she had was whether she wanted to wear shorts, or a dress. The young lioness decided on a dress. She had been donned with a floral sundress, and a light cardigan. A small protection from the early spring chill. In truth, she also had some assistance in her makeup. Light and natural, but enough to exaggerate her features. Her hair was the only thing she was able to handle on her own. Jessie thanked Merlin for her loose curls, after applying a silkening spell on her locks. She was thankful for all the commotion in her dorm. Otherwise Jessie would have been gnawing at her now painted nails, thinking of every possible thing that could go wrong this evening. But as she made her way down to Hogsmeade, every feeling of self doubt and concern wove itself into her stomach. For the first time since the carnival came around, she couldn't enjoy the laughter surrounding her from all angles. Her thoughts distracted her, as she ran into a tall, solid figure, and promptly losing her balance. Sorry for how long I took to reply

As excited as Sac was for his date, he knew that it came with a bit of stress. He knew this girl, they were in the same year, same house and had a lot of the same friends. If he messed up, if he hurt her, he'd never hear the end of it. He wasn't planning on doing so, but it did add a bit of pressure, especially since his mother already knew her, not as his date of course, but she knew who Jessie was. Sav had only ever dated within Gryffindor house, and all of his past relationships had ended amicably, but he didn't want to take any chances. This had to be the perfect day. She deserved a good date and he was known for great dates, which added even more pressure. Sav had actually came by the carnival yesterday and scoped it out, he wanted to have suggestions at hand and know exactly where everything was to avoid confusion. He needed to look put together and sure.
He was so caught up in his thoughts that it took someone bumping into him to bring him back down to Earth. "Hey there you." he smirked, steadying the girl on her feet. "You're not falling for me already, are you?" he teased. Honestly, he was happy to see her. She looked incredible and it made him smile thinking that she might have dressed up to impress him. He, however, hadn't really dressed up, however, at least he wasn't in running shorts. Sav chose to wear a simple outfit consisting of jeans and a long sleeved flannel button up shirt with a white undershirt under the flannel. It was fairly typical causal wear when he wasn't wearing athletic cloths, at least.

Frankly it was both mortifying, and comforting to know that it was Sav she had run into. Jessie didn't even want to imagine the horror of bumping into some stranger. She felt a small electric current bounce through her veins, as his hands steadied her. Face flushed, she sent him a chagrined smile and straightened out her dress. "Woah there, cowboy. One date and you think I'm falling at your feet. Joke's on you, I remained standing," she teased, batting her eyes. "...But, this date might put you in the right direction. So, what's on the agenda first?" she asked, completely open to whatever he had in mind. "You look quite nice, by the way. I guess the mud from quidditch practice does come off if you scrub hard enough."
Jessie's main concern was Sav's mother. Yes, she needed to impress Sav as well. But oh boy, did his mother put some pressure on this situation. Granted, she was a sweet woman, who had never made Jessie feel like anything less than she was. However, that was one of her Gryffindor students. Put the label of 'Sav's Boo' in with that, and things might be a little different the next time she, and the head of Gryffindor met. x

"Yeah but you're standing thanks to me." he reminded her with a smirk. Hearing her say the world date made the whole thing seem very real, and he kind of liked it. It had been a while since he had been on a date, and even longer since he had been on a date that he not only initiated, but was hoping to get a second date out of. One thing at a time, he reminded himself. Get though the first date before you plan the second one. "I was thinking maybe we could start at the Farris Wheel." he said. "Rumor has it you can see the entire grounds from the top." he told her and offered his hand to her before they began walking towards the rides section of the fair.
The Gryffindor couldn't help but give a chuckle when she mentioned that he looked good. "Yeah I've discovered this thing called soap, it's pretty magical." he teased. Of course, he knew how to clean up, however, he also liked to keep it casual. Actually, he shrugged, "It's true though, I own more athletic cloths than I do regular cloths." He admitted, "Running is something that's weirdly really important to me." he told her. "But what about you?" he asked. "Tell me something I don't know about you."

Jessie grinned ear to ear at the mention of the ferris wheel. "That sounds lovely." She giggled quietly as he spoke about soap, and having more athletic clothes that he did casual clothes. "Oh, something about me that you didn't know. That might be a bit hard. I'm an open book!" Nonetheless, she took a moment to think on it before coming up with an answer. "Well, in the Muggle world, my mom is a sort of healer. I reckon it's fueled my want to be one as well. I used to have to sit at the nurse's station if I were off from school, and I'd watch from a distance as she worked with patients. Of course, I couldn't go with her. I'm sure it would violate some policy to have a child doing medicinal practices on a sick patient," she laughed after the last bit. "But if you're hoping that I have some hidden athletic talent, you'll be sorely disappointed. I only run if I need to get stuff off my mind, or if it's something chasing me."x

Another thing they had in common, Sav couldn't help but ponder. "I've known what I wanted to be since I was young too." he told her. "From the first time I rode a toy broom I'm pretty sure there was a part of my brain that lit up and locked in Quidditch." Of course, he wasn't sure if it worked like that and that wasn't really the point. He listened as she told him all about how she would watch her mother work as a child and sit with the nurses, Sav was a pure-blood but he had taken enough years of Muggle Studies to know the names for Doctors and Nurses at least.
He smirked when she insisted that she had no hidden athletic ability. "That's alright." he shook his head. "I understand it's not for everyone. And I wouldn't ever try to make you do something that you didn't want to, so I won't try to get you to run with me, not that you could keep up anyway." He teased in a sort of true way, Sav had been training since he was young, he had some pretty impressive times under his belt. They got to the farris wheel and Sav paid the amount of tokens for the two of them to get on. He stepped into the cart, "So what does your dad do in the Muggle World?" he asked.

"I might have to join you for a run now, thanks to your cockiness," she played, elbowing him slightly. As he stepped into the cart, she followed closely behind him, taking the sit across from him. "My dad? Oh, his job is about as muggle as it gets. He's an accountant. He messes with numbers all day long. He gets a thrill out it... but I stayed far away from it growing up." She gave a small start when the huge piece of machinery took off, wheeling the passengers around in a slow, circular motion. He had asked about her parents, and her siblings were to be the next topic if she didn't change the subject away from her own family. "But enough about my boring muggle relations... I know about your mom... but I hardly know your dad." Talking about her siblings was something she would rather avoid on a first date. Though it had been years since their silence began, it was still a fresh wound for her. Jessie didn't contain her feelings well, and once that conversation was wide open, she wouldn't be able to close it up again. She felt pained, when her first instinct was to tell her sisters about her date-- but also realizing that it would be for nothing. They wouldn't have responded. So she had confided in Madison instead. x

Sav loved hearing about her father, he wasn't sure why. He knew what the job he worked entailed and was sure that he himself would find it monotonous and dull, however, it interested him that her father really enjoyed it. Perhaps there were people who felt the same way about athletics and Quidditch. "Well you're welcome to join me whenever, though I will warn you, I often wake up before the sun does to get a run in." he admitted, waking up that early was often a turn off. "I'm sure you'd look really cute in running shorts." he teased.
Sav shook his head almost instantly when she asked about his dad. "No don't worry about him... he's uh... not in the picture." that was the easiest way to say that his father was dead to him. And maybe that was a little harsh, but Sav honestly would be happy if Jess, or whatever girl he ended up with, never met him. He had broke apart his own family, Sav lost all respect for the man. "My mom though, she's great." He smiled. "It was kind of weird having her at the school though, at first, but I don't see her all that often anyway. Oh, and my brother, he's cool too." Sav rarely saw his twin, however, he still tried to keep up with the Hufflepuff. His sisters however, he wouldn't dare bring up. He barely considered them his sisters. If anyone understood family drama, it was Sav.

"Oh trust me, I look cute in just about anything," she joked, winking at him. From the sound of it, things between Sav and his father was a lot worse off than she imagined. Of course, she should have suspected that. Her face turned red from shame. "I'm sorry, I hope I didn't brush up some bad stuff. But twins certainly run in the family don't they? Merlin, it would be so cool to have a twin. It's like a constant best friend, and brother slash sister all wrapped into one. And I do agree with you, your mom is awesome. Also, please do me a favor and tell her I think so. I need to start wracking up brownie points with her. I'm not just a student anymore.." she spoke before realizing what she was saying. "I mean, that's if you want me to see her again again, under different circumstances," she breathed. x

Sav hadn't meant to be so intense when he spoke about his father. He hadn't meant to make her feel bad for bringing it up. He knew some people knew the basics of what was happening with his family thanks to the ever popular rumor mill, however, the full story wasn't something he wanted to talk about or get into. He wasn't really one to share his feelings. He was too cool for that. He liked to maintain composure and charisma. "Don't worry about it. And yeah, it does seem to be in the family. My brother and I were really close as kids, it was exactly like having a built in best friend." he agreed, however, he and his brother had split apart a bit when they were sorted into separate houses, however they checked in every now and then. Sav had to admit, her comment about needing to win over his mother freaked him out a bit, they were only on their first date, but he also found in charming and decided to just go with it. "Don't worry, you're a Gryffindor, I'm sure she already loves you." he shrugged. "My mom isn't particularly hard to please." at least she wasn't for him, though he was also secretly a mamma's boy who strives to please her. He smirked and gave a chuckle when she asked if he planned to see her again, "relax, enjoy today and then we'll talk about next time." he insisted and draped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her a bit closer to him as the farris wheel went around.

She nodded, leaning in a littler closer to him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to come across as obsessed with staying with you, or anything like that. Whether it happens, which I'll be honest with you, I'm having a great time, and I sincerely hope we have several more dates, but whether it happens or not, talking to your mom is going to be a concern for me. And while impressing your mom is on my mind, so is being prepared in case you decide that seeing me isn't what you want. I have some control over a situation then. I stay prepared that way... That way I don't end up hurt. If we don't have more dates, I'll be okay. But I'd like to have more..." Her face was even redder than before. "I'm sorry. That didn't help my situation at all, did it?"In truth, it all led back to her sisters. Jessie had no control over that situation, no way to speak her mind. So, subconsciously, her brain made up for it in every other friendship or relationship she had with anyone. She couldn't remember a time when she didn't explain how she felt, or the reasons behind her actions. It took all she had to fight back the moistness growing in her eyes. Luckily she blinked it away before Sav noticed. x

Sav had no intentions of hurting her. He never hurt anyone if he could help it, even the girls who asked him out that he wasn't interested in. While he was a huge jock, a flirt and very self-confident, he was also a nice guy, a good guy. He listened to her speak and while he absolutely thought that she was overthinking it all, he respected her right to do whatever she needed to do within her own head. "Hey..." he said while using one hand to tilt her face up to his. He leaned down and kissed her lips gently before pulling away and saying, "If I didn't want to be dating you, I wouldn't have asked you here." he promised. "I'm not going to hurt you. I just like living in the moment before we make future plans." he admitted. "And relax, you won't be meeting my mom until we've been on a few more dates." while he did love and respect his mom, he wouldn't be so stupid as to tell her about a girl before they had been dating long enough to warrant it. And she had already met his mom, so it wasn't as if they would be getting to know each other for the first time. "By then you'll have won me over anyway and have nothing to worry about. If I'm happy, my mom'll be happy."

As his lips left hers, she let out a shaky laugh, "Well. That was probably as perfect as a first kiss gets. Thank you for that." Her eyes were glued to his, as little by little her nerves were calmed. "Okay, I trust you." She leaned against him, feeling secure for the first time in a long time. "I could benefit from just living in the moment." Jessie sat silent for a few moments, enjoying the ride while it lasted. And for a while, she did let herself just live in the moment. Typically she was a lighthearted person. But her brain was in constant motion. Darting from one issue to another. Her family, her friends, the Purifiers. However tonight, she was handed the chance to ignore all of it for while. And that's what she intended to do. Too soon however, the couple had to pull away from each other's embrace, as the ride came to a stop, and their cart was the first to be unloaded. As they stepped off the platform, she turned to him and intertwined their fingers together. "So what's next? You lead and I'll follow."x

Sav was flattered when she said that their kiss was perfect. He thought so too, but he wouldn't say so, not yet. He needed to remain composed and keep up his outer layer of cool. "I promise I won't let anything happen to you. And I promise a fun time." he insisted. The two enjoyed the rest of the ride until it began to slow down and finally came to stop. The two Gryffindors stepped out and back onto stationary land and then off the platform and back to the carnival.
"Whatever you want" he said, "you tell me, I could win you a prize, or we could get something to eat. Absolutely whatever." he explained. And he meant it. He had chosen the farris wheel and he didn't want to seem too controlling so he hadn't planned out every second of the date, which left some room for spontaneity, even if it was planned spontaneity.
