Ev nodded and smiled when Mina said that she liked having things under control, but she didn't say anything else. There wasn't really anything to say to that, so Ev just let it drop. She smiled at the girl's description of her job, appreciating her opinion. "Keeping them all alive is definitely the goal," Ev meant it as a joke, but felt as though the joke fell flat. Yeah ... she probably said it with the wrong tone or something because she actually sounded serious. Oops. Then she nodded, "I hope so. I mean, that's one of the reasons why I answer them. I'm kind of glad that I don't get too many though. I can imagine answering mail could get really overwhelming with lots of fans," she explained. It was easy writing back to people, but if she got lots of letters daily Ev definitely wouldn't be able to keep up with it all on her own. Mina stopped and Ev moved so she was standing next to her while she explained that the book should be somewhere nearby. "All right," she said, stepping away and starting to look through the titles for the book in question. This was one of her least favorite parts about searching for particular books. Just glancing around was fun, but finding one title among a sea of others was generally not her favorite activity, though she was willing to do it to get what she wanted. "I don't think I'm seeing it over here," she commented after a few minutes of fruitless searching. mina pandora oliveira

@evelyn Mina wanted to desperately yell ‘exactly!’ as Evelyn agreed with her about the role Beaters had on the field. There were a few reasons why she didn’t; one was that she wanted to have a job tomorrow, and screaming in front of a customer was a big no-no, even if it Evelyn was the only other one in there, and probably wouldn’t care if she did yell. Policy was policy, and Mina had yet to trample all over it. Quite the achievement in her own right, if she said so herself. The second was that obviously Evelyn knew how important a Beater was to Quidditch. She was a professional one. A match was only as dangerous as the Beaters allowed it to be. A good one didn’t aim to maim or incapacitate, but to turn the tide of the game. Evelyn didn’t seem like the kind to mercilessly attack the other team, but Mina had watched even the meekest of Beaters turn on a dime if provoked enough. Calling a Beater meek was somewhat of an oxymoron in itself, but they were silent and deadly for a reason.
“It can get overwhelming,” Mina answered nodding her head. Watching her brother respond to letter after letter prior to the holidays over the last few years had always been painful. Which was why she created his official fan club and regulated everything. Yes she knew how to respond the way he would. And yes she did respond to the majority of the ones that he didn’t have the chance to get to. At least that way the fans had something back. It was better than nothing. “That’s what he tells me,” Mina added, knowing exactly how the first part sounded coming from her. “I only have the courtesy of seeing the piles upon piles of letters.”
The Quidditch talk could wait though. The hunt for the book had begun. Mina had one side of the aisle, Evelyn the other. This whole thing should have been easier than it was, but then that wouldn’t really be work, would it? Minutes passed, and Evelyn mentioned that she hadn’t seen it yet. That was great. Hopefully it hadn’t been moved by Ursula in the last few days, in the hopes of getting it noticed closer to the front of the store. That was always a possibility. Taking a few steps back from her side of the aisle, Mina squinted at the top row. “Wait,” she said, stretching her neck a bit more to see if she could see the title on the books. “I think that’s it?” Wand out, she summoned one of the books down. It nestled itself in her hands as she turned it over to look at the front cover. “Yup! Here you go,” Mina handed the book towards Evelyn. “And back to the front we go if you decide to bring that bad boy home tonight.”

It was nice to have someone who understood. Evelyn didn't normally talk about fan mail to people, mostly because she didn't want to get comments about how she should just be grateful that she got it instead of complaining that she had to answer it ... not that she really knew if anyone would say something like that or not. It was one of the things she thought of one day and couldn't seem to let go. She was always nervous that people would misinterpret things she said and things she did. That wasn't anything new. She smiled and nodded back, "Yeah, I think that's something all Quidditch players have in common," she answered confidently. If she got fan mail- and she was definitely one of the quieter players- she was sure that the others got their fair share as well. She laughed at Mina's comment about piles and piles of letters, but didn't say anything back. Evelyn wasn't the type to quit, but she was really starting to feel like this book wasn't in front of her. Granted, there were tons of books there and it might be nestled between two big ones or be just out of her line of vision. There was a good chance it was in front of her, but not finding it was a possibility and she tried to prepare herself for the possibility. Then Mina told her to wait and Ev froze, watching as the girl summoned a book. She took a few steps closer and nodded, taking the book when Mina offered it. "Great! Thank you," she said with a smile, running a pointer finger of the title of the book. Then she laughed softly. "Well after all the effort it took to find, I think I'm definitely going to have to add this one to my little collection." Okay, so her collection wasn't little. That wasn't a big deal, right? She followed the girl back to the front of the store, pulling out her little purse so she could pay for it. mina pandora oliveira

@evelyn It was strange. A year ago, Mina would have scoffed at the idea of working in a shop and helping people out. And now? Well, she almost enjoyed it. She had Saturdays and select weekday mornings off, and the rest she had pretty easy shifts all by herself with very little say in what she spent her day doing. If customers didn’t show, then she was left to her own devices. When they did come in though, the encounters like this one were the ones she enjoyed the most. Putting the part where Evelyn was basically the same age as her and played Quidditch aside, being able to have a little adventure inside the bookstore was what she was constantly looking for. Some customers didn’t want to humor her, and preferred to wait near the front while she went looking for the book on her own. Typically when that happened, if she ended up taking too long they would just leave, tired of waiting for her to find one book amongst thousands. That was where muggles had their systems correct. Having computers sort through all that saved a ton of time. Unfortunately that would never happen here, even with Ursula as the owner. Too many people were old fashioned and wouldn’t like technology being used. “You’re very welcome,” Mina grinned as the other woman looked over the book before they headed back to the front of the store. Hopping behind the cash register in her usual position, Mina waited to have the book handed over to her one last time. That was one sale for the day. She had been hoping that Evelyn would buy something else as well, but Mina had a feeling that she was the type to watch herself when around books. “Is there anything else you need help with, or is it just this book today?” She asked anyways, just to gauge a response. It was standard procedure to ask regardless. “If not, that will be five Galleons.” For being such a new book, it definitely was cheap. Then again, if they ended up selling like hot cakes, it would eventually turn into some sort of a profit. [OOC: wrap it up or one more each?]

Evelyn followed Mina to the front of the store, giving her the book once they reached the cash register. She was glad they were able to find the book, excited to go home and delve into it and see what it was all about. She smiled when the girl asked if she needed help with anything else. "No, I'll probably come back later in the week and get more. I'm good for now." Honestly, she never had enough books, which was why she came here so frequently. She was quite proud of herself for showing so much restraint right now. She grabbed the money and handed the coins to Mina. "Thanks for all your help today. I'll see you again soon," Ev said as she turned to leave the shop with her new book. She knew what she'd be doing tonight. ---the end--- mina pandora oliveira
