Saturday afternoon. Finally her day off. Mina was starting to get used to having one day of the weekend off now that it had been a few months. That meant better planning Friday nights, and figuring out how ridiculously hammered she could get and still wake up fine the next morning. Last night though…well, she didn’t remember much. All she knew was she woke up this morning in her own bed and in the same clothes she had on the night before. There was nothing really that strange about that, since she had done that dozens of times. The weird thing was that she had a little scrap of paper in her jeans pocket with the word ‘carnival’ written on it. At first that meant nothing to her, but upon inquiring about it to her sister, who wasn’t exactly happy to see her in the same clothes again, she was told that there was a carnival being held in Hogsmeade. That was enough to send Mina into a flurry of readiness, as she quickly cleaned up, changed, ate breakfast (or was it considered lunch once it was the afternoon?), and ran out the door to quickly walk her dog before apparating to Hogsmeade.
She didn’t need much of a push to have fun. Usually just talking to someone was enough for her, though playing games and drinking worked to. After wandering around the carnival for about half an hour and only managing to get a mock wanted poster made of her face, she was quickly starting to get bored. There was food, but no alcohol, which kind of made sense because there were loads of students here. They couldn’t stop her from smoking though, and that she did, because there was nothing else to do aside from playing the games and hopping on the occasional ride. It would be too weird to talk to any of the students unless she knew them from her years there, and so far she hadn’t seen either of her younger siblings or the Greyback girls that she had met a few months earlier. That was disappointing. She kind of wanted to bug them a little. Especially her siblings. Nothing beat public embarrassment, and if they were here with friends, it would be even better. She was sure she had met most of their friends at one point or another while she was still in school, but that didn’t change the fact that she could still mess with them.
Buying a bucket of popcorn from a nearby stand, Mina made her way over to a picnic table and dug herself in. If this was how it was going to be, she would sit here and eat until she found someone to latch onto. Watching the Ferris wheel go around over and over again wasn’t that bad. But it kind of was at the same time.
