@lestrange As crazy has everything had been over the last few months, Phil found that he had not changed that much. At least not compared to the way everyone else seemed to be changing. He still combed his hair the same way, sans comb. He wrote his name the same, he even relieved stress the same way, by planting. Hence his current predicament of being up to his elbows in manure digging for the exploding seed he had dropped in the fertilizer bin. It took him a few minutes of searching, but his fingers finally brushed across something that, he desperately hoped, was the seed. Pulling his arms out and looking at the walnut sized seed in his hand he beamed at his success. Unfortunately, that success also now had ruined his outfit for the day. There was no way he could go back up to the castle smelling like this. Carefully he placed the seed in a dark container, to keep sunlight off of it, and set it on the shelf. Then he proceeded to scrape the dragon dung off of his arms and make his way to the sink in the corner. True, this excursion to the greenhouse didn't go as he had anticipated, but that didn't really matter to him. There was something about getting his hands dirty, helping something else survive, that seemed to loosen the tension in his shoulders and give him a new perspective on his problems.

Today was Phils birthday. Even though he wasn't making a big deal out of it, Andy had thought of something to get him for a present. She was a little nervous about showing it to him, but... she knew he'd accept anything she gave him, even if it was a piece of coal.
She had searched two greenhouses already until she finally found him in the back of one, washing off in the sink. It wasn't particularly a lovely smell in there, which made her wrinkle her nose and chuckle at the same time. In her hands she was carrying a small pot with a plant in it, but it was surrounded by a sort of portable greenhouse bubble slash wrapping so that Phil couldn't see what was inside.
"Maybe you should just take the clothes off," she said logically, and then her face flushed, "I mean and change into something else."

@lestrange Phil had his decided to toss the gloves, it would be too much work to get them clean, and had moved onto the sleeves of his shirt. He was busy rubbing soap onto his right arm when Andy came in. He turned around and the sound of her voice, smiling, then blushing as he registered what she said, then laughing as she caught herself. He rinsed his arm off then turned toward her. "Something more... comfortable?" he said leaning seductively against the sink. Admittedly, the image was probably marred by the smell that seemed to wafe off of him. Not to mention, he slipped and had to catch himself on the sink. "Either way, you are probably right." He put on a more natural smile. "I'll be right back." Luckily he always kept a change of clothes in a special cupboard in the greenhouse for days such as these. A few moments later he came back out, smelling clean (courtesy of the greenhouse shower and a wonderful little mint plant). "So, what brings you out here?" He asked, moving closer to take her hand, and kiss her forehead.

Andy snorted as he leaned against the counter and laughed out loud when his hand slipped and he had to catch himself. "You're simply irresistible," she said with another all fit of laughter. Then he agreed that she was right and vanished for a moment, giving her time to check on her new friend in her pocket. She reached in her robe and let him climb into her hand, pulling him out. "Hey bud, ready to meet Phil?" she greeted with a little bit of a higher pitched voice, which she didn't expect to do but it was happening with the Bowtruckle more often than not. "You'll love him as much as I do. You're kindred spirits," she chuckled. She heard Phil coming back and quickly placed the little guy back in her robes where he got comfortable again. Phil stepped up to her, questioning her being there and kissing her forehead. She held up the plant with her free hand. "Birthday celebrating and presents," she explained. She leaned forward to kiss his cheek, "happy birthday, Philip," she whispered, kissing his cheek a second time before pulling back to hold the present out to him. @philiplongbottom Echo Flower, a flower with the ability to repeat the last sounds they have been exposed to (from Undertale). Her gift is just a bud though, it hasn't bloomed!

@lestrange Phil couldn't help but smile. Andy had gotten him something for his birthday? He shouldn't be surprised, this was Andy. He took the plant, nothing but a small green shoot in a pot large enough he needed two hands. He couldn't tell what it was. He held it up to his eye level examining it. He gazed at the green veins of the plant then his eyes focused on something just beyond the plant. Andy's face. He set the plant down then wrapped her in his arms, kissing her cheek with excitement. "Andy, I love it!It is perfect!" He told her, letting go so he could turn around and look at the plant again, this time bending down to look at it on the table. "What is it?" He asked, a little embarrassed, not knowing what it was.

Andy just watched in silence as he surveyed the plant, her hand finding the Bowtruckle in her robe pocket so that he could hold onto her fingers. It was comforting. Not that she needed comfort right now, she had Phil, but she liked to think the little guy needed her around, too. Phil eventually set down the pot and moved forward to take her in his arms and kiss her cheek. She chuckled, "I'm glad you like it," she said softly.
Then he was pulling away and turning to look at the plant again. She grinned, stepping forward to stand next to him and bend down to look at the plant at the same level. "It's an echo flower. It repeats the last sound it heard. It's just a baby, though," she said, pointing at it, "as you can tell. I was thinking we could help it grow together..." she suggested softly. "That's the present. Team work and... all that. You know," she turned her face to look at him next to her, "growing something together that's nice and beautiful and safe."

@lestrange Phil pulled his attention away from the baby echo flower, a tiny bud noticable between the two leaves sprouting out from the dirt. How was it that Andy found a way to dig herself deeper into his heart than she already was? "Together?" He said, his voice cracking slightly. His smile was small and joyful as he gazed into her eyes. The fact that she was here, with enough sense of self and others to think of a gift like this made Phil happier than Andy would ever know. "I don't think there is a more perfect present out there." He said, brushing her cheek with his thumb. "Than to grow something safe and beautiful with you." He ran his hand down her arm so he could take her hand. When he brushed against the bowtruckle his fight or flight kicked in and he yelped, scrambling back. "Andy! I think there is a spider in your pocket!" He said with alarm. A small part of him cursed himself for ruining the moment, the larger part was still freaking out that there was a SPIDER IN ANDY'S POCKET!

His voice cracked a little and Andy just nodded, her brow furrowing a little as she did. She was smiling too, of course. It was impossible not to with Phil's smile right there in front of her. He said spoke as she touched her cheek and she leaned into his hand a little. She took a small step forward, about to lean in as his hand ran down her arm... But then he was screaming and backing up very quickly.
"No, no!" she said, her voice panicked for a moment before she had to hold back a laugh. She lifted her hand out of her pocket and the little guy was hanging on, looking at Phil with the same wide eyes Phil had on. "This is my new friend. My therapist gave him to me... Like as a support creature type of thing," he explained. "Say hello," Andy muttered to the Bowtruckle, holding her hand out to Phil. The little guy raised an eyebrow at Phil and then climbed to stand on Andy's hand before giving Phil a cheeky little bow in greeting.

@lestrange To say that his heart was racing was accurate. He felt as if it might pound out of his chest. And he had that feeling of unknowable things crawling all over his skin. It wasn't that he was afraid of spiders, he dealt with them on plants all the time. It was more how large it felt... and that it was in Andy's pocket. Andy held out the "spider" and it stood up on her hand, taking a bow. Almost instantly Phil felt his shoulders relax. He took a few steps forward, back to where he was and craned his neck to see the little guy better. "A Bowtruckle? How long have you had him... her... it?" He glanced at Andy with a confused look, did bowtruckles even have genders? Either way he put his finger out to the creature, a little hesitantly. It was way cuter than any spider he had come across. "Hey little guy." He said softly.

Andy couldn't help but grin as Phil took the necessary steps forward to greet her friend. He asked about the gender, and Andy shrugged. "It's a he, and..." She looked up at Phil with an eyebrow raised. "He needs a name. Mind helping me out? I've had him for about... Two days," She addedin answer to his question.
The little green guy wrapped his arms around Phil's finger and gave him a tight squeeze. Andy giggled," it looks like he likes you." That was a good thing, because Andy would rather need those two to get along considering how much she would have both of them around.

@lestrange Phil couldn't help but smile as the bowtruckle hugged his finger. True, magical creatures were not his forte, but this little guy was pretty darn cute. Plus, if he helped Andy then Phil would do anything to make him happy. "A name?" Phil thought out loud. "Hmmm, well we could always go with something generic like, Bill, or Richard." He said with a finger to his chin, thinking deeply. They could name him after a plant, but Richard was such a good solid name.

Andy laughed and shook her head at Phils suggestions. "I could do Richard," she said with a nod. She started to pull her hand back to get a look at him, "do you like that? Richard? Richie?" the little green guy smiled, still holding onto Phils finger. Andy smiled looking up at Phil, "Richard it is. Maybe we should call him Sir. Richard," she suggested with a very, very lighthearted giggle. Few had heard that sound come from her aside from Phil.
Richie finally let go of Phil and Andy placed him on the table, and he started getting a good look at some of the more friendly plants nearby. Andy smiled at him before turning to Phil. She wrapped both arms around his neck and took a step so she was against him. "There's a little more to your birthday present," she added, slowly leaning in so her lips were just brushing his, "I mean, if you want more," she offered. What? She was in love, she could kiss snog her boyfriend all she wanted. Plus, it was his birthday, so.

@lestrange Richard the Bowtruckle. He was a pretty cute little guy, still attached to Phil's finger. The nicknames Andy spouted off seemed appropriate, and for some reason, they all fit the creature. A fluid personality it seemed. After a moment Andy set him on the table and he immediately went to check out some of the plants Phil had been working on. A Richard after his own heart. Phil probably would have continued watching Richard a little longer, making sure he didn't do anything to hurt the plants, but was immediately distracted. Andy's arms laced around his neck and she pressed herself against him. His arms naturally went around her waist, holding her to him. "I probably..." He said against her lips, pausing to kiss her quickly. "Would not be opposed to more presents." His hand traced up her back then stopped at the base of her neck as he kissed her again, and again. Sir Richard the bowtruckle found a nice cozy spot under the leaf of the echo flower. He nuzzled himself into the dirt, letting it act as a blanket and settled in for a nice, long nap.

Andy laughed softly, breathlessly, as Phil said he would probably not be opposed to more gifts. "Well, my love, there is much more where that came from," she muttered against his lips before kissing him again. She breathed into that kiss, pulling him as close to her as she could. Richie was happily dozing off with a plant, so he wouldn't be a distraction, and Phil was happily holding her close, so everything was set.
The greenhouses were a special place for Andy and Phil, always had been. It was where they first became friends, adopted siblings, lovers... really, everything happened in a greenhouse somewhere. She kissed him again and again, forgetting just how likely it was for someone to come in that door and see them. Truly, she didn't care. Truly, she only cared for Phil in that moment.
"Happy birthday," she whispered one more time amidst the brushing of their lips together and the kissing of cheeks, ears and necks.
